Marshak's tale "Twelve Months" was written in 1943 especially for the Moscow Art Theater. The work, which harmoniously intertwined fabulous motives and real life, was destined to become one of the best New Year's stories for children.

main characters

Stepdaughter- an orphan, kind, sympathetic, hardworking girl.

Stepmother- an evil, greedy woman who forced her Stepdaughter to do all the dirty work.

Daughter- Stepmother's own daughter, a spoiled, rude and lazy girl.

Queen- a young ruler, an orphan, a capricious, arrogant, eccentric girl.

Other characters

Soldier- a kind, fair, honest man.

Professor- the Queen's teacher, who not only taught, but also raised her.

Months- twelve months that helped the Stepdaughter.

Action one

Scene one

On a sunny winter day, the hare invited the squirrels to play with the burners - "call the sun, call the spring." Their games were watched by the Stepdaughter, whom the evil Stepmother sent into the forest for brushwood and firewood. Soon a Soldier with a sleigh came out into the clearing. The stepdaughter told him about the leprosy of the squirrels and the hare, but he was not at all surprised - "On New Year's Eve, and this does not happen!" He told how one day his grandfather had the opportunity to "meet with all twelve months" on New Year's Eve.

The soldier said that he had to bring a Christmas tree “for the queen herself,” who was the same age as the Stepdaughter and after the death of her parents was left an orphan.

Scene two

In a luxurious classroom, the Professor was giving a lesson. The Queen is only fourteen years old, but she is terribly spoiled and capricious. The calligraphy lesson was interrupted by the Chancellor, who urgently needed to sign the papers. It was necessary to choose - to execute or pardon the person, and the Queen wrote: “Execute is shorter”. The wise Professor began to reproach the girl with the fact that she decided "the fate of a man without even thinking."

The capricious Queen took it into her head that April would come, and there were snowdrops at the New Year's banquet. She issued a decree announcing the beginning of spring and promised to generously reward whoever brings snowdrops to the palace.

Scene three

In a small house on the outskirts of the city, the Stepmother and Daughter discussed the Queen's order. They really wanted to receive the promised reward, but where can you find snowdrops in winter? They decided to send the Stepdaughter to the forest to bring them spring flowers.

The stepdaughter began to beg her Stepmother to take pity on her - it is dark outside, a blizzard is howling, "but what kind of snowdrops are now - after all, Winter ...". But only the greedy old woman did not want to hear anything - having given a larger basket, she slammed the door behind the Stepdaughter.

Second action

Scene one

The frozen girl was very scared in a dark forest. Suddenly, in the distance, she fancied a "golden light", "and it seemed to smell like a warm smoke." She was delighted and went to meet the light, which turned out to be a large blazing fire. Around him sat and warmed all twelve brothers-months: "three old, three elderly, three young, and the last three are still quite young."

Plucking up courage, the girl approached them and said that the evil Stepmother made her go into the forest and collect snowdrops. To help her, the brothers decided to make way for April for an hour.

“In the forest and in the meadow” everything has changed: the snow has melted, green grass has appeared, snowdrops have blossomed. The girl began to collect flowers, and soon a large basket was filled with them. Young April liked her very much, who presented her with his ring. If trouble happens, you need to throw the ring, say the magic words and all twelve months will come to the rescue.

Scene two

The stepdaughter brought the snowdrops home, and immediately fell asleep soundly. The daughter, suspecting something was wrong, found her magic ring and took it for herself while the girl was sleeping. Waking up, the stepdaughter began to beg to return the ring to her, but the Stepmother and Daughter did not want to hear anything. Taking the basket with snowdrops, they hurried to the royal palace.

Act three

In the royal palace there was a magnificently decorated New Year tree, elegant guests strolling around the hall. But the upcoming celebration did not please the capricious Queen at all. She stated that "December will not end until they bring me a basket full of snowdrops."

The queen changed her anger to mercy when her Stepmother and Daughter brought the snowdrops. They could not clearly answer where they got the flowers, and admitted that the Stepdaughter had done it. The queen immediately decided to go with her retinue to this magical place.

Act four

Scene one

The queen ordered to give the fur coat to her Stepdaughter, who was completely chilled in the cold forest. Emboldened, the girl asked the Queen to return the ring that her stepmother's Daughter had taken from her. In return, the Queen demanded to show the place where the girl picked snowdrops, but she refused.

The angry Queen ordered to remove the fur coat from the stubborn and threw the ring into the hole. The stepdaughter managed to utter the magic words. A strong wind immediately rose, and the girl disappeared. All seasons followed each other: winter, spring, summer and autumn.

When the winter cold returned again, the courtiers hastened to return to the palace, leaving their Queen in the forest. Old man January came out into the clearing, who invited everyone to make a guess at will. The Queen wished to be in the palace as soon as possible, the Professor - "so that everything again was in its place and in due time: winter - in winter, summer - in summer", the Soldier - to warm up by the fire, and the Stepmother and Daughter - fur coats, "even on dog fur" ... Having put on fur coats, greedy women immediately turned into dogs. They were harnessed to a sleigh, but dogs cannot go far.

Scene two

The stepdaughter, warming herself by the fire with twelve months, thanked each of them. Months said that she would now be the full-fledged mistress of the house. They promised to return to the Stepmother and her Daughter their human form, but only after three years, as "they will become smarter."

Months gave the girl a large chest, in which there were "fur coats, dresses embroidered with silver, silver shoes and a whole heap of bright, magnificent outfits", and a wonderful sleigh.

The Soldier joined the fire. Seeing the Stepdaughter's sleigh, harnessed by frisky horses, he suggested to the Queen to ask the girl to take them out of the forest. For the first time in her life, she uttered the word "please", and the Stepdaughter happily took everyone to the palace.

Thus ended the story of twelve months.

The tale "Twelve Months" is a winter story that tells us about good and evil. This is an instructive story about how you need to help other people, and then your deeds will return to you a hundredfold. This is a magical play that also enchants with the New Year's atmosphere. One phrase can describe its brief content. "Twelve Months" is a message from childhood, thanks to which we know that bad people will always be punished, and those who bring light and love will find happiness and peace.

The history of writing a fairy tale

The famous Soviet writer Samuil Marshak at that time wrote "Twelve Months". The fairy tale was not created at all in a fairytale time. Outside the window, volleys of the Second World War thundered, and nothing reminded of a miracle. But the writer did not hang his nose, he did his job, and fictional heroes soon took on their own lives on the pages of the manuscript.

Before that, the writer had a grief - his little beloved daughter died. And after this tragedy, he completely devoted himself to children's literature, writing poetry and stories for kids. Thus, he seemed to communicate with his daughter, devoting more and more new fairy stories to her.

There are several versions of the writing of the story "Twelve Months". Marshak borrowed the plot from a Czech author, the famous writer Bozena Nemcova, or he presented a Greek folk tale in his own way. Whether it is true or not, it no longer matters. Because the world has received an unusually interesting and exciting story about the New Year's adventures of a little girl.

Summary of the tale "Twelve Months"

First of all, this is a story about hard work. Such conclusions can be drawn by reading its summary. "Twelve Months" tells that everything in the world, even the forces of nature, help just such people - those who are not afraid of work, who do it with pleasure and do not ask for anything in return.

And it all starts with the fact that on New Year's Eve the princess issues a decree: bring her a basket of snowdrops for a good reward. The evil stepmother and her lazy little daughter want to receive the promised gold coins. They are very greedy, but they are even more lazy. Therefore, in the forest, in frost and cold, they drive out their stepdaughter. "Go and don't come back without flowers," they say to her at last and slam the door in her face.

In the forest, a poor girl meets her brothers-months near the fire, who help her and give a basket of snowdrops for her kindness and affection. They help the main character more than once. Even when the queen with all her retinue goes into the thicket, learns that she was deceived, and wants to execute the girl, months come in a crowd. They punish the stepmother and her daughter, give a good spank to the mischievous queen and generously endow the little orphan. This is what Marshak wanted to convey to us. "Twelve Months" (summarized above) is a fairy tale that promotes good, shows that evil and meanness will always be punished.

Positive heroes

On the positive side, the main character of this story is the stepdaughter, who starts working in the morning. "And he carries firewood, and collects water," - says January about her. July supports and describes how she works around the garden beds all summer day. The little girl constantly endures the insults and ridicule of her stepmother, but this does not make her angry. On the contrary, her friendliness and kindness illuminate everything around even more.

Brothers months are also positive "Twelve months". Marshak shows us their fairness and honesty. The forces of nature should be like that. Punishing people for their malicious activities is what we see not only in this story, but also in real life. This main idea was put into his story by Samuel Marshak. "Twelve Months" (the summary looks like a simple fairy tale) actually teaches us to be thrifty, selfless, generous and kind to the world around us and to people. And the positive heroes of the story are an example to follow.

Negative characters

Here we have where to roam. Let's start with the stepmother and her daughter. Both are greedy and constantly looking for profit. Everything is not enough for them, and in pursuit of wealth they go over their heads.

There are no obstacles - you can go to theft, lies and betrayal. The story "Twelve Months" vividly shows how they threw out all these negative traits of character on an innocent stepdaughter, for which they paid in the end.

The Queen is another Spoiled one, accustomed to giving only instructions, she does not tolerate when she is contradicted. If now she wants April to come, then she will. Decrees are issued, heads are chopped off, executions are ordered only for the sake of satisfying her fleeting desires. But pride is punishable - this is what the summary of the tale "Twelve Months" has already told us.

The Queen's retinue - all together and each separately - is also one continuous negative image. They indulge their ruler in everything, close their eyes to her whims and unfair decisions. They resigned themselves to her actions and became apathetic to everything. The absence of one's own opinion and thoughtless slavish obedience are far from positive qualities. It even conveys a summary. "Twelve Months" is a fairy tale that, in a simplified version, clearly reveals the main idea of the author.

Science fiction and truth of life

The story "Twelve Months" shows us a lot of life. The tale embodied real life - people who are ready to betray for the sake of gold, unfair managers who do not spare mere mortals and play them like pawns. All the characters described in the story are certainly taken from life and revealed in their entirety. Besides, the truth is shown in the actions of the heroes. For example, a kind gesture of a soldier who is ready to freeze for the sake of an orphan, only to keep her warm in his greatcoat. It is these little things that show us what kind of person he is - both in a fairy tale and in life.

Despite the truthful descriptions, there are many fictional, magical moments here. The physical shell of the brothers of the months and their namesake in the sky, the conversations of animals and birds do not exist in ordinary life. The same can be said about the abrupt change of seasons - spring covers winter, a minute later it is summer, then autumn bursts in to replace them, and a minute later winter again comes into its own.

With such a combination of the fantastic and the real, Marshak created an indescribable atmosphere in the work "Twelve Months". The tale is not like other stories, it instills in us the belief that brothers-months do exist.

The theme of the struggle between good and evil in the fairy tale "Twelve Months"

It is she who runs through the entire story, and this vividly demonstrates to us a brief summary. "Twelve Months" shows that the author tried with all his might to answer the question: "Is obedience the embodiment of good or evil?" Indeed, at first glance it seems that it is more related to the first manifestation of human character, but this is not at all the case. In the fairy tale, we see that the obedience of the stepmother and retinue before the queen leads only to the tyranny of the ruler. Seeing that no one rereads her, she issues decrees one more stupid than the other, which is why ordinary people suffer.

The same obedience of the stepdaughter to her stepmother did not lead to anything good either. If not for her brothers-months, the girl would simply freeze in the forest and die. Therefore, Marshak himself answers his own question: obedience is not always a good quality, sometimes it is a manifestation of weakness, which ultimately gives rise to evil. He condemns her. The struggle of good in the guise of wisdom and diligence, loyalty and affection is opposed in the story of evil, as the embodiment of obedience, greed and selfishness.

The use of folklore in the speech of characters

Samuil Marshak used interesting phrases and folklore in his story "Twelve Months".

The heroes speak in vivid phrases, the tale is filled with living remarks. His animals communicate using characteristic interjections and epithets. If this is a raven, then his monologue is sure to be decorated with the traditional "Carr!"

The author shows true mastery by overly individualizing the speech of his characters. We can clearly see this in the stepdaughter's monologues. They have a pronounced folk-poetic core. Words flow like a song. The phrases are very melodic and rhythmic. Each dialogue in the story breathes folk art.

Many literary critics are sure that it is in Slavic folklore that the children's story "Twelve Months" originates. The fairy tale reveals to us the beliefs of our distant ancestors - that the seasons have a human appearance, that the animals in the forest can speak our language, that the forces of nature are punishment for bad deeds.

"Zest" of the tale

Have you ever noticed the names of the heroes of the story "Twelve Months"? I think no. And this is not surprising at all - the author did not give a single name to his characters. Counselor, queen, stepdaughter, stepmother - they are all without their own name. Marshak wanted to show society as a whole, without getting personal. Each hero embodies one stratum of society: an orphan - a people, poor and hardworking, a queen - rulers, ruthless and often stupid, an adviser - officials, sycophants and cowards, a stepmother - managers who are ready to cross out everything human for profit.

Only twelve months have names. The forces of nature in the form of brothers are shown only from the positive side. And this is understandable, because the world around gives life to a person. Thanks to him, we breathe, grow crops, continue our family. But often people don't appreciate it. They are unhappy that it is winter, not summer, they do not like rain, they are disappointed because of the severe frost outside the window. Although we know that nature does not have bad weather. Each of its manifestations is an obligatory link in the chain, without which life on Earth would be impossible.

Screen adaptation

After the general success of the printed story written by Marshak, we finally saw "Twelve Months" on TV screens. People's reviews indicate that the cartoon, which was released in 1952, broke records for its popularity. Children appreciated the wonderful New Year's story.

Created a full-length animated film directed by Ivan Ivanov-Vano. To all of us, the scenery of the cartoon and its characters, known since childhood, was drawn by the master of his craft Anatoly Sazonov. The tale was also released as a full-length film for children.

"Twelve Months" is a moral story that teaches us to be empathetic and kind, love work and remain human in any situation. For more than half a century, it has been one of the classics of its genre. Both children and adults all over the world love to read this work and watch its adaptation. In the coming New Year holidays, be sure to watch her once again this fairy tale with the whole family.

The stepdaughter went to the forest for brushwood and firewood. The forest at this time is full of miracles. Soon twelve months come there. The Queen, an orphan of fourteen, already wants spring. Issues a decree that the one who brings the basket of snowdrops will receive a great reward. After her arrival, the stepdaughter was sent for these flowers. Rescued the month of April from trouble by miraculously making a lawn of snowdrops. He gave the girl a ring, throwing which and saying magic words, brtatya months will come to the rescue. The stepmother steals the ring and does not give it back. Then she goes with her daughter to the queen with a basket of flowers. She announces the New Year and asks where they got the snowdrops. The queen revealed the deception and ordered everyone to go to that place with their stepdaughter. Not wanting to give up, the ring was thrown into the hole. After the magic words, the stepdaughter disappears, and the seasons change dramatically. Stepmother and daughter turned into dogs. The stepdaughter is leaving on a sleigh, with the queen, who affectionately asked to ride together.

Conclusion (my opinion)

As in any fairy tale, good triumphs over evil. The stepdaughter received a just reward for her suffering. And the stepmother and daughter reaped bitter fruits for their actions.

Marshak's Tales

Marshak's magical winter tale about a young girl who had a half-sister and stepmother. The stepmother did not like her adopted daughter and exploited her in every possible way: she chased her for water, into the forest for firewood, to wash, to weed the beds. But whatever she did, the stepmother didn’t like everything, but she didn’t love her daughter, and she only lay on the feather beds and ate gingerbread. And then one day in January, when there was a strong cold, a lot of snow and strong winds were blowing from all directions, the stepmother decided to send her stepdaughter into the forest for snowdrops for her daughter's birthday, but ordered not to return without snowdrops. The poor girl went into the forest and went out to the light, and they sat around the fire for 12 months. When they found out about her problem, they decided to help her, because they knew her and saw her either on the river or at the well. The month of January gave way for an hour to the month of March, and the stepdaughter was able to pick up snowdrops and came home. When the stepmother found out how her stepdaughter got snowdrops in January, she immediately sent her daughter for gifts: pears, cucumbers, strawberries. But when her daughter met with 12 months, they did not recognize her, January caught up with the cold and froze her. Mom did not wait for her daughter and went out in search, but she also froze. And the stepdaughter lived for a long time and it was said that in her yard it was possible to meet all 12 months at once.

Do you know how many months are in a year?

Twelve.

What are their names?

January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.

As soon as one month ends, another immediately begins. And it has never happened before that February came earlier than January, and May would overtake April.

Months go by one after another and never meet.

But people say that in the mountainous country of Bohemia there was a girl who saw all twelve months at once.

How did this happen?

That's how.

In one small village lived an angry and stingy woman with her daughter and stepdaughter. She loved her daughter, but her stepdaughter could not please her in any way. Whatever the stepdaughter does - everything is not the same, no matter how she turns - everything is in the wrong direction.

The daughter spent whole days on the feather bed and ate gingerbread, and the stepdaughter had no time to sit down from morning till night: either bring water, then bring brushwood from the forest, then rinse out the linen on the river, then weed the beds in the garden.

She knew the winter cold, and the summer heat, and the spring wind, and the autumn rain. That is why, perhaps, she had a chance to see all twelve months at once.

It was winter. It was January. There was so much snow that it was necessary to shovel away from the doors, and in the forest on the mountain the trees stood waist-deep in snowdrifts and could not even sway when the wind flew on them.

People sat in houses and stoked the stoves.

At such and such a time, towards evening, the evil stepmother opened the door, looked at the blizzard sweeping, and then returned to the warm stove and said to her stepdaughter:

You should go to the forest and pick up snowdrops there. Tomorrow your sister is your birthday girl.

The girl looked at her stepmother: is she joking or is she really sending her into the forest? It's scary in the forest now! And what kind of snowdrops are there in winter? Before March, they will not be born, no matter how much you look for them. As soon as you disappear in the forest, you get bogged down in the snowdrifts.

And her sister says to her:

If you disappear, no one will cry for you! Go and don't come back without flowers. Here's a basket.

The girl began to cry, wrapped herself in a torn handkerchief and left the door.

The wind powders her eyes with snow, tears her handkerchief from her. She walks, barely pulling her legs out of the snowdrifts.

The circle gets darker and darker. The sky is black, not a single star looks at the earth, and the earth is a little lighter. This is from the snow.

Here is the forest. It's completely dark here - you can't see your hands. The girl sat down on a fallen tree and sits. All the same, he thinks where to freeze.

And suddenly a light flashed far between the trees - as if a star among the branches got entangled.

The girl got up and went to this light. Drowns in snowdrifts, climbs over a windbreak. "If only, - he thinks, - the light does not go out!" And it does not go out, it burns brighter and brighter. There was a smell of warm smoke, and you could hear the brushwood crackling in the fire.

The girl quickened her pace and went out into the clearing. Yes, and froze.

Light in the clearing, as if from the sun. In the middle of the clearing, a large fire burns, almost reaching the sky. And people are sitting around the fire - some closer to the fire, some farther away. They sit and talk quietly.

A girl looks at them and thinks: who are they? It is as if they do not look like hunters, even less like woodcutters: there they are, how smart they are - some in silver, some in gold, some in green velvet.

Young people are sitting by the fire, and old people are at a distance.

And suddenly one old man - the tallest, bearded, brow-haired - turned around and looked in the direction where the girl was standing.

She was scared, wanted to run away, but it's too late. The old man asks her loudly:

Where did you come from, what do you want here?

The girl showed him her empty basket and said:

I need to collect snowdrops in this basket.

The old man laughed:

Is it snowdrops in January? Look at what you invented!

I didn’t make it up, ”the girl replies,“ but my stepmother sent me here for snowdrops and didn’t tell me to return home with an empty basket.

Then all twelve looked at her and began talking to each other.

A girl is standing, listening, but does not understand the words - as if it were not people talking, but trees making noise.

They talked, talked and fell silent.

And the tall old man turned around again and asked:

What will you do if you don't find snowdrops? After all, they will not look out before the month of March.

I'll stay in the forest, - says the girl. - I'll wait for the month of March. It's better for me to freeze in the forest than to return home without snowdrops.

She said that and cried.

And suddenly one of the twelve, the youngest, the most cheerful, in a fur coat on one shoulder, got up and walked over to the old man.

Brother January, give me your place for an hour!

The old man stroked his long beard and said:

I would give in, but not to be Mart before February.

Okay, ”grumbled another old man, all shaggy, with a disheveled beard. - Give in, I will not argue! We all know her well: either at the ice-hole you will meet her with buckets, or in the forest with a bundle of firewood. For all months it has its own. We need to help her.

Well, be it your way, - said January.

He hit the ground with his ice staff and spoke:

Do not crackle, frosts,

In the reserved forest,

By the pine, by the birch

Don't chew on the bark!

You are full of crows

Freeze,

Human housing

Chill out!

The old man fell silent, and it became quiet in the forest. The trees stopped crackling from the frost, and the snow began to fall thickly, in large, soft flakes.

Well, now it's your turn, brother, - said January and gave the staff to his younger brother, shaggy February.

He banged his staff, shook his beard and hummed:

Winds, storms, hurricanes,

Blow your best!

Whirlwinds, blizzards and storms,

Play out for the night!

Blow loudly in the clouds

Fly over the ground.

Let the drizzle run in the fields

White snake.

And as soon as he said this, a stormy, wet wind rustled in the branches. Snow flakes whirled, white whirlwinds rushed along the ground.

And February gave his ice staff to his younger brother and said:

Now it's your turn, brother Mart.

The younger brother took the staff and hit the ground.

A girl is looking, and this is no longer a staff. This is a large branch covered with buds.

Martha smiled and sang loudly, in all his boyish voice:

Run away, streams,

Spread, puddles,

Get out ants

After the winter cold!

The bear is sneaking

Through the forest deadwood.

The birds began to sing songs,

And the snowdrop blossomed.

The girl even threw up her hands. Where did the high snowdrifts go? Where are the ice icicles that hung on each branch?

Soft spring earth under her feet. Around, dripping, flowing, murmuring. The buds on the branches have puffed out, and the first green leaves are already peeking out from under the dark peel.

What are you standing for? Mart tells her. - Hurry up, my brothers gave us only one hour.

The girl woke up and ran into a thicket of snowdrops to look for. And they are apparently invisible! Under bushes and under stones, on bumps and under bumps - wherever you look. She picked up a full basket, a full apron - and rather again to the clearing, where the fire was burning, where the twelve brothers were sitting.

And there is no fire, no brothers. It is light in the clearing, but not as before. Not from the fire, but from the full month that rose over the forest. The girl regretted that there was no one to thank her, and ran home.

And a month followed her.

Not feeling her legs under her, she ran to her door - and as soon as she entered the house, the winter blizzard began to hum behind the windows again, and the month hid in the clouds.

Well, - asked her stepmother and sister, - have you already returned home? Where are the snowdrops?

The girl did not answer, she just poured snowdrops from the apron onto the bench and put the basket beside her.

Stepmother and sister gasped:

Where did you get them?

The girl told them everything as it was. They both listen and shake their heads - they believe and do not believe. It's hard to believe, but there is a whole heap of snowdrops on the bench, fresh, blue. So it blows from them the month of March!

The stepmother looked at her daughter and asked:

And the months have not given you anything else?

I didn't ask for anything else.

What a fool so fool! - says the sister. - For once, I met all twelve months, but I didn’t beg for anything but snowdrops! Well, if I were you, I would know what to ask for. One has apples and sweet pears, the other has ripe strawberries, the third has white mushrooms, the fourth has fresh cucumbers!

Good girl, daughter! - says the stepmother. - In winter, strawberries and pears are not worth it. We would have sold it, and how much money we would have rescued! Get dressed, daughter, warm up and go to the clearing. They won't deceive you, even though there are twelve of them, and you are alone.

Where are they! - answers the daughter, and she herself - hands in sleeves, a scarf on her head.

Mother shouts after her:

Put on your mittens, fasten your fur coat!

And the daughter is already outside the door. She ran away into the forest!

Follows her sister's footsteps, in a hurry. "Hurry," he thinks, "to get to the clearing!"

The forest is getting thicker and darker. The snowdrifts are higher and higher, it stands like a windbreak.

“Oh,” thinks the stepmother’s daughter, “and why did I go to the forest! I would lie at home in a warm bed now, but now go and freeze! You will still be lost here! "

And as soon as she thought it, she saw a light in the distance - as if an asterisk in the branches got entangled.

She went to the light. She walked, walked and went out into the clearing. In the middle of the clearing, a large fire burns, and around the fire twelve brothers are sitting, twelve months. They sit and talk quietly.

The stepmother's daughter came up to the fire, did not bow, did not say a friendly word, but chose a place where it was hotter, and began to warm herself.

The brothers-months fell silent. It became quiet in the forest, and suddenly January-month hit the ground with his staff.

Who are you? - asks. - Where did it come from?

From home, - answers the stepmother's daughter. - Today you gave my sister a whole basket of snowdrops. So I followed in her footsteps.

We know your sister, - says the month of January, - but we haven't seen you. Why did you come to us?

For gifts. Let June, the month of my basket, pour strawberries, but larger ones. And July is the month - fresh cucumbers and white mushrooms, and the month of August - apples and sweet pears. And September is the month - ripe nuts. And October

Wait, says the month of January. - There should be no summer before spring, and spring before winter. Far before the month of June. I am now the owner of the forest, I will reign here for thirty-one days.

Look how angry he is! - says the stepmother's daughter. - Yes, I did not come to you - from you, except for snow and frost, you will not expect anything. I need summer months.

Frowned January-month.

Look for summer in winter! - is talking.

He waved his wide sleeve, and a blizzard rose from earth to sky in the forest: both the trees and the clearing on which the brothers were sitting for months were clouded. The fire was no longer visible behind the snow, but only the sound of a fire whistling somewhere, crackling, blazing, could be heard.

The stepmother's daughter was frightened.

Stop! - shouts. - Enough!

Yes, where there!

A blizzard whirls around her, blinds her eyes, takes her breath away.

She fell into a snowdrift, and covered her with snow.

And the stepmother waited, waited for her daughter, looked out the window, ran out the door - she was not there, and that was all. She wrapped herself up warmly and went into the forest. But can you really find someone in the thicket in such a blizzard and darkness!

She walked, walked, searched, searched, until she herself froze.

So they both remained in the forest to wait for summer.

And the stepdaughter lived a long time in the world, grew up big, got married and raised children.

And, they say, she had a garden near the house - yes, such a wonderful one, which the world had never seen. Earlier than everyone else, flowers bloomed in this garden, berries ripened, apples and pears were poured. It was cool in the heat, quiet in the blizzard.

This hostess has been visiting for twelve months at once! - people said.

Who knows, maybe it was.

The tale "Twelve Months" by Samuel Marshak is one of his most famous works, and now we will make a brief analysis of the tale "Twelve Months", including a summary of the plot.

The author describes to us a girl "stepdaughter" who is sympathetic from the very beginning of the story. This girl is kind and friendly, she is ready to help others and does not seem to notice that some are taking advantage of her kindness. So, this is a positive heroine of a fairy tale, but there are also negative characters. We see a stepmother and her daughter, who, in fact, oppose good and fight with it. Analyzing the fairy tale "Twelve Months" by Marshak, one can clearly trace a feature characteristic of a literary fairy tale, when, after a difficult struggle between evil and good, it is the good that emerges as the winner. Characterizing the stepdaughter, we note that her hard work and honesty prompted to carry out any assignments given by the stepmother.

It is impossible to imagine an analysis of the tale without a summary of "Twelve Months". Consider the plot. Once a young queen, also an orphan, wanted to get snowdrops in winter. But as you know, at this time of year there are simply no flowers, so it was not possible to get them. In order for those who would conduct the search to try better, the queen issued a decree according to which, in the event of a successful completion of the task, a person was to receive gold as a reward. And not just a piece, but a basket filled to the top. It is not hard to guess what thought came to mind of the evil stepmother despite the severe forest frosts - she quickly sent her stepdaughter for flowers.

Further, continuing the summary of "Twelve Months", we will see what happened to the poor stepdaughter. The girl was honest - we have already noted this, and she could not think of resorting to deception and not going into the cold forest. Going in search, the main character lost her way and she was expected to die from the cold, but a miracle happened. Having met twelve months who were brothers in a forest glade, she was saved. The brothers not only warmed her, but also made a precious gift - a basket with snowdrops. However, there was one condition - the girl had to promise that she would be silent about this miracle and would not tell about the existence of brothers-months.

As you analyze the tale "Twelve Months", pay attention to the queen's reaction. Her surprise knew no bounds, and she demanded to explain where the flowers came from. But the stepdaughter did not betray the secret, after which the queen gave a decree to drown the rebellious girl.

Concluding the summary of the tale "Twelve Months", we will say that in the end both the young queen and the stepmother and their daughter met with the brothers-months. This meeting greatly influenced the queen, and she changed, and her attitude towards those around her also changed.

Conclusions in the analysis of a fairy tale

It is immediately striking that Marshak in his work opposed evil to good - two forces that are constantly fighting. The negative characters, mainly the stepmother, tried to break the kindness of the stepdaughter. However, the power and influence of twelve months put everything in its place. Evil was punished and good was rewarded. One of the most amazing characters in this tale is the queen. Her malice and selfishness, which we see at the beginning, were replaced by kindness and tenderness. On the example of the queen, we clearly see how good triumphs over evil. This is an important detail in the analysis of the tale "Twelve Months".

What about the stepmother and her daughter? They were turned into dogs by brothers for months, but they were left with a chance to be human if they change their minds.

After reading this tale, one involuntarily ponders what can be considered evil and what is good, and why the victory of good is so important and one should always hope for it.
