This year, my husband had a vacation, we decided to go somewhere for a change. We didn’t want to go to the sea or somewhere else, we needed some kind of adventure, we decided to go to Romania, to be more precise, Timisoara. We heard a lot of conversations from those who have already been there, we wanted something mysterious, so we chose the city of Timisoara.

Getting to the city is quite easy, you just have to take any train from Bucharest and you are already in Timisoara. We drove for about 3 hours, not so much, considering that we went to Romania on our own. The first impression of the city is unforgettable, the city reminds of Vienna, thanks to the beautiful architecture, old houses and palaces. But, if you want to see all this splendor up close and slowly, then you definitely need to walk, not ride, otherwise you won’t appreciate all the magnificence.

Those who want a budget trip cannot afford transport, we saved money by walking. There are trams, buses, a lot of taxis on the roads, all this is good when there is extra money.

There are many shops of all kinds, they open early in the morning, and work almost until night, the prices are the same as in other ordinary stores.

The city has a huge number of hotels and hostels. My husband and I chose the most ordinary hostel, which cost us 500 rubles. per day per person. We rented for 3 days, this was quite enough to walk around the city and see everything. I would like to note that the hostel turned out to be very clean, there is a shower, a bed and a toilet, in general, all the amenities in order to spend the night, and in the morning drink coffee and walk again.

Souvenirs and other goods

The city is very beautiful, many churches and palaces, for lovers and connoisseurs of the beautiful, this is an ideal place for peace and relaxation. On the way home, we bought souvenirs for friends, which, by the way, are cheap compared to other countries. We bought two magnets with the image of Dracula, one magnet - 30 rubles, mothers bought Romanian porcelain, or rather, these are such wicker baskets made of porcelain that look like a lace doily, the cost of the set is 500 rubles, and a couple of mugs, again, with the image of Dracula, one mug - 20 rubles.

In total, taking into account the money spent on the road, accommodation and meals, we spent about 7 thousand rubles on the trip.

Holiday experience in August

Traveling with our own car in August 2017 brought me and my husband to Romania. I don’t even know why many people bypass this country when they want to relax on the Black Sea coast. Personally, we not only discovered a new area for ourselves, but also examined the Black Sea from the other side, which was previously inaccessible. Earlier, when mentioning Romania, associations with Dracula and Transylvania always appeared, and after this trip, I will remember the arcuate beach of great length, on which we spent as many as (!) Three weeks, although at first we were going to stay 3-4 days. They just didn't want to leave this place.

We were very lucky with the weather. The heat has already begun to gradually subside, which is typical for the entire Black Sea coast, regardless of the country. During the day the temperature sometimes reached 34 ºC and it was really very hot. By the end of the month, a downward trend in air temperature began to be observed, and in the last week it reached 24-25 ºC. This slight cooling of the air environment practically did not affect the temperature of sea water, which dropped from 26 to 24 ºC in twenty days. At the end of the month, the approach of autumn began to be felt in the air. It was also perceptible by the movement of the clouds, which is typical for this season. In fact, it didn't rain on any of the days.

Where is the best place to stay?

Before reaching the place of rest, my husband and I agreed that we would relax in the private sector near the beach, but we radically changed our minds. Leaving the car in a public parking lot (by the way, completely free) before the settlement, we decided to take a walk to the beach and were amazed at its scale. There was a whole line of hotels along the way, the rooms of which were no more than a five-minute walk from the water. This bribed. We stopped at the first hotel we came across after the idea of settlement in the first coastal line appeared. It turned out to be a small three-story building called Hotel Agapi Mamaia. Now I can say with certainty that this place is the best in Mamaia. From our room on the second floor with one double bed, the sea was literally in the palm of your hand. We were separated only by a line of sandy beach with umbrellas and sunbeds. The room had a balcony with a table and chairs, which became our favorite place in the evening. Our room, as well as the whole hotel, is originally decorated. It is immediately clear that a professional designer was involved. On the ground floor there was a restaurant with a terrace. We ate mainly in it and only in rare exceptions in other places.

What to do at the resort?

In Mamaia, the sea is the main attraction that you can look at for hours. And probably the only one. To get to some Romanian sights, you need to visit other cities. We got out for the whole daylight to Constanta, which we reached from Mamaia in our car in half an hour. I advise everyone to visit the famous casino by the sea with incredibly original architecture. Despite the heat, we literally explored every inch of this building, walking around it several times. It is also worth visiting the National Museum of History and Archeology, which houses unique exhibits.

The beach in Mamaia deserves special praise. It is wide and seems to have enough room for everyone. Sandy shore, gently sloping, without any particular dips and depressions. Umbrellas with sun loungers are placed everywhere, there are standard bananas and catamarans. Everything is very decent.

In the summer I spend my holidays in Romania on the sea in order to find really quiet beaches on the Black Sea. These beaches on the sea are of interest to visiting tourists. People can actually listen to the sound of the sea and, as they say, reconnect with nature.

I must admit that in Romania it is quite easy to find a quiet and at the same time beautiful place to relax. A place where you can be alone with your thoughts, away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Many popular holiday destinations are so popular that they are little different from a crowded city. And this is contrary to my rest, which is aimed at relaxation. But not on the projection of a big city, only on the sea. Therefore, my choice fell on the Romanian beaches. In addition, the beaches in Romania are also free. So saving the budget while traveling has a beneficial effect on mood.

Choosing a place to relax by the sea in Romania

I especially liked the fact that there is an element of "untouched nature" on the beaches of Romania. For me, for example, this is very important. Nowadays it is very problematic to find a place to relax, devoid of any kind of man-made interference. In general, some tanker passing by, or a passenger plane flying overhead, certainly will not disturb your peace while relaxing on the beaches of Romania.

I must admit that I used to not feel very good about seaside holidays in Romania. But my opinion changed radically after I decided to try. And the trip left in my memory only the best impressions. I want to remind you once again that I wanted to find a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Some people like noisy rest, and this is their choice.

How to choose the right place to stay

I will give an example from my unsuccessfully formed, in my opinion, rest. It was about a year ago, on one of the most popular beaches in Africa. I spent exactly three days there, and all because from the very first I did not like the atmosphere. The beaches were so crowded with people that at first I couldn't even sleep at night. There was no question of any noise of the surf and the singing of birds. It was then that I realized that my money for the trip was wasted.

But this in no way applies to Romanian beaches. They really made me change my mind that beaches can't be quiet. And it happened this year.

Beach holidays in Romania

I heard about the beaches, with almost untouched nature in the northern part of the Romanian sea, north of the famous resort of Mamaia. And we found these beaches. These are the beaches of Romania called Corbu and Vadu. There is also Gura Portitei beach, a very beautiful and quiet beach with amazing nature. But you have to get there by boat.

Beaches such as Korbu and Vadu are very quiet and beautiful. But I should not count on the fact that they will be completely deserted. On beaches such as Corbu and Vadu, the water is clear and very clean. And most importantly, bathing water during a seaside holiday in Romania is suitable for bathing children. This is very important for people vacationing with their families. During my vacation in Romania, I watched people resting. So, the main contingent of vacationers are people with children. In general, a beach holiday with children in Romania will not leave you indifferent.

How to get to Corbu and Vadu beaches

In order to get to the beaches of Corbu and Vadu, you need to drive past Mamaia and Navodari. Traveling from Bucharest, it is worth driving along the highway to the sea, and passing Constanta, take the A4 highway, which will take you to Ovidia and Navodari. You will have to drive further to Korbu. The road to Korbu is not very good. But if you are traveling in a 4x4 car, then this will be the best option.
