Tajik language is a modern version of the Persian language (Farsi), which is spoken in Central Asia. Tajiks always called their Language "Farci" ("Persian Language"), and the term "banning Tajiks" ("Tajik language") appeared only in the 20th century, with Soviet power. Most of the carriers of the Tajik language live in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. During its development, the Tajik language deviated from the Afghan and Iranian options for Farsi as a result of changes in political borders, geographic isolation, the influence of Russian and neighboring Turkic languages. A standard language is based on the North-West Tajik dialects, which were subject to some influence of the neighboring Uzbek language. As a result of relative geographical insulation in the mountains of Central Asia, in vocabulary, phonetics and grammar of the Tajik language, numerous archaic elements are preserved, lost by other Iranian languages.

Cities with the most numerous Tajikoy-speaking population - Samarkand and Bukhara are located on the territory of modern Uzbekistan. According to official data, Tajiks account for about 5% of the population of Uzbekistan. However, ethnic Tajiks are not included in this statistic, which, for a variety of reasons, are called themselves in the census of the population by Uzbeks. According to subjective estimates of experts, Tajiks can range from 15 to 25 percent of the population of Uzbekistan. In Tajikistan, Tajiks make up 80% of the population. In addition, Tajiks are the dominant ethnic group in the north of Afghanistan. In general, Tajiks constitute 25-30% of the population of Afghanistan.

Dialects of the Tajik language can be divided into 4 groups: the Northern (Northern Tajikistan, the southern regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan); Central (Mastchokh, Ayney, Hisar); Southern (Kulyab, Badakhshan); Southeast (Pyanj, Darwaz). A dialect of Bukhara Jews (books) belong to the northern group. It is allocated by the historical use of the Jewish letter and the Jewish vocabulary (mostly religious nature). But despite this, the buildings are clear and the carriers of other options of the Tajik language.

The emphasis in Tajik language is placed on the last syllable. A few exceptions from this rule include the words "Bale" ("Yes") and "Zero" ("Because"). The emphasis is not put on enlitics and on a direct add-on marker. The order of words in the proposal is to be leaving the supplement.

The grammar of the Tajik language is almost identical to grammar classical Farsi (and its modern Iranian version), although there are a number of remarkable differences. For example, the nouns are not denoted by the grammar Rod, although the number is indicated. A multiple number is denoted by suffixes -ho or -on, although Arab forms can be used in borrowings from Arabic. There is no certain article, but an indefinite article is presented as a numeral "yak" ("one") and suffix. A direct addition is marked with a suffix - "Rustamro asks" ("I beat Rustam").

Tajik language is very conservative in terms of vocabulary. It survived many words that have not been used for a long time in the Iranian and Afghan variants of Farsi, for example, "Arziz" ("tin"), Farbhekh ("Fat") and others. The main part of the borrowed vocabulary is borrowing from the Russian language. There are also borrowing from geographically close to Uzbek language and, as in the case of most Muslim countries, from Arabic.

Since the late 1980s, attempts are made to replace borrowing by Tajik equivalents, for which outdated, long-eating words or non-socialism with Arabic and Persian roots are used, such as "Garmbunac" ("heater") or "Changkashak" ("vacuum cleaner").

Tajik language belongs to the Iranian branch of Indo-Iranian languages, is the official language of Tajikistan, regional in some northern areas of Afghanistan, as well as distributed in some regions of Uzbekistan (in Samarkand and in Bukhara). Around the 20s of the 20th century, this language was called Persian, and until 1928, Arabic linked was even used here. In 1930-1940, Latin was used, now the Tajik language is completely built on Cyrillic.
