This article identifies a wide range of obstacles to homeopathic treatment. The most obvious physical obstacles are mechanical, structural, chemical (drugs, antidotes), miasmatic, long-term organic damage, undefined, general weakness. Of particular interest are the emotional and mental obstacles identified by Vithoulkas - the syndrome of irritation at the spouse, deep emotional insecurity, insoluble family situations, "sinful" habits, emotional death, overwhelming dissatisfaction, spiritual pseudo-seeking, idefixes, intellectualism, excessive independence. The author also gives a lot of useful advice on what to do in such difficult cases.

Keywords: factors that prevent treatment, physical factors that prevent treatment, emotional factors that prevent treatment, mental factors that prevent treatment, chemical factors that prevent treatment, miasmatic factors that prevent treatment, irreversible organic disorders, irritable spouse syndrome, intellectuals, independent patients.

The disease manifests itself as a result of stress, strongly affecting one or more of the three levels that make up the human body: the physical body, the emotional-sexual sphere, the mental-psychic sphere.

There is an interesting observation that many people in today's civilized societies suffer on an emotional or mental level much more than they did before, say 50 years ago. Exposure to stress in its various forms causes illness. In addition to symptomatology, which probably arises from specific etiological factors, for example, bacteria, viruses, etc., we see symptoms arising from conflicts in three main areas of human existence.

Consider the factors that may hinder homeopathic treatment at each of these three levels or areas, starting from the physical level. By these factors, I mean factors (physical, energetic, situational or otherwise) that prevent the achievement of the results expected from the prescribed correct medicine.

Physical layer

1. Mechanical obstacles: mechanical or structural obstacles can make homeopathic treatment difficult. I will give an example of a blockade. The patient complains of constant severe sciatic pain. It would seem required Colocynthis... This medicine is prescribed, but it only works for a short time, within a few minutes or an hour. One more medicine is given, no result, then another one. No result. Why? Because there is a hernia in the disc. The disk cannot fix itself. Sciatica is a consequence of mechanical pressure on the nerve. Surgery or traction is indicated here; you will need to take other measures besides the medication. Dislocation of the vertebrae may require measures other than homeopathy - for example, manipulation by a chiropractor or osteopath.

Likewise, some tumors can cause symptoms due to pressure on an organ or other structure in the body, and surgery will be required to improve the condition. Of course, in the general case, the need for surgery can be significantly reduced with the right homeopathic medicine. After eliminating the mechanical problem, you can again prescribe the indicated homeopathic medicine, now with a positive result. If there is a splinter in the tissue, of course, it must first be removed, and only then wait for a cure. A bandage that is too tight can cause symptoms that require loosening of the bandage rather than medication. While these examples may seem oversimplified or obvious, such things sometimes elude our attention. We recently tried to treat inflammation in the right eye after an ophthalmologist examined a patient and found no reason for such inflammation. He ordered to put on a bandage on the eye and sent the patient home. Since this patient was undergoing homeopathic treatment, we tried to treat the inflammation of the eye, which is very painful in the entire area, not just at one point. After unsuccessful treatment of the patient for three days, we asked her to go to another ophthalmologist, who examined her more thoroughly and found a hairline in her eye, which was the cause.

2. Chemical barriers: chemical blockages can be encountered in the cases of patients who take drugs for pleasure or treatment, as well as those who regularly and in large quantities drink alcohol and coffee. The effects of homeopathic medicine on those who regularly take drugs such as coffee or hashish, heroin, cocaine, etc., will last much less than expected or not at all. Habits such as excessive drinking of coffee or excessive alcohol consumption are very difficult to get rid of. The most difficult thing is to stop taking pleasure drugs, especially those that are highly addictive like heroin, cocaine, etc.

After taking the correct homeopathic remedy, it begins to restore the individual to a state of equilibrium; this state of equilibrium is easily disturbed. Even mild chemical exposure can cause relapse. It doesn't matter if a person drinks one or five cups of coffee a day; the chronic disease will return sooner or later.

I recall the case of a student suffering from intercostal neuralgia. Severe pain on the left arose between 10 and 11 o'clock. He received Natrum muriaticum and felt good for several days until suddenly the condition returned. At first, his condition even worsened. I gave Natrum muriaticum 1M one more time, and it all happened again. I could find no antidote effect other than using mint toothpaste. I asked him to stop using this paste. After the third dose of this medicine, the case was completely cured. Since that time, we began to prohibit the use of mint (or menthol) in cases Natrum muriaticum... Any allopathic medicine can interfere with your prescribed medicine, and deep-acting medicines such as cortisone, antibiotics, and hormones are particularly difficult. The practice of combining allopathic medicines with homeopathic medicines leads to confusion, very short-term and meager results.

Prescription and addictive medications such as Valium, Tavor (Lorazepam .-- Approx. transl.), etc., give an easy way out. Patients tend to resort to them again and again as soon as they feel the slightest anxiety, which cannot be immediately removed with a homeopathic remedy. They need constant support from a doctor to replace their lack of love and a sense of security. In such cases, you may need to talk to them on the phone very often. The worst chemical factors are corticosteroids and chemotherapy. Methods suitable for such cases are a topic for a separate article. Hormone replacement therapy using insulin or thyroxine, for example, is much less likely to interfere with homeopathic medicine.

3. Miasmatic obstacles: in cases where a well-chosen medication does not work, consider the possibility that some other medication that the patient may have taken in the past, a serious acute infectious disease in the past, etc. in such cases may an antidote or nosode is required, and only after that it will be possible to see the result of therapy. A chemical made several years ago can induce a form of miasmatic condition that acts as a barrier to treatment. This chemical can imbue the body with a chronic disease tendency. Until this layer is antidoted, the treatment will not be effective.

For example, a person who has taken large amounts of streptomycin, penicillin, or quinine in the past and has become unhealthy afterwards may find it difficult to respond to your best prescriptions. Maybe it looks like a case Sulfur, but does not respond to any Sulfur nor other conventional medications. Until prescribed Streptomycinum or Penicillinum 200 or 30 to counteract the effect of previously obtained antibiotics, this case will not respond to treatment. After prescribing a potentiated antibiotic, the case will be revealed: many of the symptoms may be relieved or the case will clear up, and now Sulfur or another remedy indicated will heal.

Another example of this same phenomenon might be a severe case of asthma. You are trying to treat this case very carefully, but to no avail. The patient then says that he began to suffer from asthma after suffering pneumonia. Dose given Influenzinum 200, and from that moment on, the improvement begins, and then the cure.

4. Long-term organ damage: Patients suffering from serious organ damage may experience relief of symptoms such as pain, frequent infections, etc., but the actual physical damage or structural deformity cannot be corrected. Down syndrome is one example of the impossibility of a complete cure. This developmental lag is not amenable to correction; normality cannot be achieved. Children with developmental delays provide the doctor with very few job opportunities. There may be some improvement, but not complete, which might otherwise be expected. Multiple sclerosis leads to permanent and irreversible destruction of the myelin sheaths. In the initial states of inflammation, before destruction has occurred, homeopathic treatment can reverse the situation completely. After 6-10 years, when permanent paralysis is established, multiple sclerosis does not respond to treatment. Homeopathic treatment can be effective in such conditions, but only in terms of preventing the consequences of recent exacerbations. Damage prior to treatment cannot be reversed.

Another example: you are treating a 15-year-old case of rheumatoid arthritis. There is arthrosis; the joints are deformed and persistent inflammation persists. One cannot hope that homeopathic treatment will be able to reverse the lesion itself, that is, the deformity of the joints. It is possible to treat ongoing inflammation, stop disease, but not reverse it. The same applies to previously positive laboratory tests; for example, it is possible to return to normal values of ESR, rheumatoid factor, etc. However, at the beginning of treatment, these laboratory values can increase significantly simultaneously with a decrease in pain; later the indicators will normalize.

In the case of progressive atherosclerosis, do not expect to be able to restore the normal elasticity of the vascular system. Old vitiligo will last forever, unless it is captured in the first 6-12 months; more chronic cases can only be stopped, not cured. Cases of cerebral palsy and infantile autism also respond very poorly to homeopathy. Pathological cataracts in young people can be cured, but the same cataracts associated with degenerative disease in the elderly have a poor response. The homeopathic physician must know the limits of the cure.

4. Cases of suffering from an indefinite, general weakness of the physical body: complaints of general weakness, combined with a paucity of symptoms, indicate a severe violation of defense mechanisms, weak vitality. This is not uncommon in those who have exhausted their strength by taking huge amounts of homeopathic medicines in mixtures.

In such cases, there are no symptoms indicating the correct remedy. Such cases can also be caused by prolonged inappropriate homeopathic treatment - changing medicines too often for too long. Instead of improving health, the patient is left with an increasing feeling of weakness. He will say that before he suffered from many pains and symptoms, now he does not have them, but instead of them he became generally weaker. You will not like this, as it indicates that disease as a general condition now exists on a deeper level. It is very difficult to treat such cases. The best thing here, of course, is not to prescribe medications and to cancel all prescriptions. Then wait, if possible, until some of the symptoms begin to return. Take your time to prescribe medication; wait a little longer until the picture clears up. Typically in such patients, after the most precise prescription, there will be at best a very weak healing response; quite often there will be no reaction in the early stages. When even a small positive change is seen, it is important to wait as long as possible and avoid prescribing a second medication prematurely. Wait until a new picture appears (any symptoms - pain, discomfort, etc.). In these cases, it will usually take a long time for any noticeable improvement to appear, perhaps even 4 to 5 years. You will have to recognize such cases and explain to the patient what you hope for, so he will have to endure some suffering and not ask for immediate help. If, in such cases, there is congenital weakness of an organ, the condition of that organ can deteriorate greatly as the entire body becomes stronger.

If a patient complains of such vague weakness, but he has not yet taken homeopathic medicines, then most likely his condition is caused by taking too many allopathic medicines. Symptoms, if prominent, represent the body's adaptive defenses. While they may carry suffering with them, they are still defense mechanisms. When such mechanisms are taken away from a person, usually as a result of being pumped with allopathic drugs, all that remains as a reflection of a disturbed vitality is weakness. AIDS is an illustration of this phenomenon. Some AIDS cases will be very difficult to treat because weakness will often be the predominant complaint; the defenses were undermined and destroyed by the frequent prescription of antibiotics, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.

Emotional blockages

1. Syndrome of irritation to the spouse: this syndrome occurs in women who are not sexually or romantically attracted to their spouses. At first, they convinced themselves that marriage would be beneficial for them for a variety of reasons: for example, social status, financial security, stability, etc. These are, in fact, normal women who, as a result of persistent sexual frustration, give a picture of symptoms that are difficult for classification; they experience remorse for having extramarital affairs. Because the roots of this syndrome are so deep, patients' symptoms are usually resistant to all forms of therapy, be it homeopathy, allopathic medicines or psychiatry.

Often these symptoms, usually functional, are such that these women avoid sexual contact with their husband. With homeopathic treatment, one group of symptoms will go away, but only in order to be replaced by another. Despite their frustration, these women usually do not end their marriages because of the comforts, etc., provided by this marriage, and because of the power they enjoy over their husbands.

This power is based on the attraction a husband has for his wife; it often makes him blindly accept her behavior and makes him vulnerable to her influence. As a consequence, the wife becomes addicted to skillful manipulation, which gives her a sense of superiority over her husband. Usually the husband will act as an ally of his wife; he will justify her and her physical complaints. How are such cases recognized? Only in retrospect, after several returns of the patient with a constant change in symptoms. After all, if you ask her a direct question about possible difficulties in her relationship with her husband, she may answer in the affirmative.

Some drug types are much better equipped to handle this situation than others. For instance, Sepia and Natrum muriaticum... On the Staphysagria and Pulsatilla due to their high sexual energy, such a situation is likely to be adversely affected. Women who don't masturbate to relieve tension in some way are more likely to suffer more.

I recall the case of a woman who once asked me for help at midnight. I came with a psychiatrist. We arrived at her house at half past twelve. She had profuse vomiting, complete emaciation and severe dehydration. Blood pressure dropped from fluid loss. We gave different medicines, but there was no result. At three o'clock in the morning, with no results, but knowing something about the situation between her and her fiancé - they had been engaged for three years - I had the intuitive idea that a wedding date had been set. I asked her if she had set a date. "Will this happen within a month?" I asked. She replied, "Yes." I said: "Now you understand why you vomit, why do you have such a reaction?" She immediately replied, "Yes, I understand." Within a quarter of an hour, she was eating soup.

In such cases, one can reasonably assume that psychotherapy is needed or simply advice to a woman to find a lover that she will like, but the syndrome of irritation with her own husband is characterized by the fact that these women do not listen to advice. They admit that they have problems with their husband, but will then list and defend his many good points. They cannot be persuaded to leave their husband. I have seen cases of severe anxiety and panic attacks. I was called at midnight saying that a woman was dying - hysterical phone calls. I sent some of these cases to a psychiatrist, who very quickly understood the situation and advised the patient to leave her husband. Instead, they were leaving the psychiatrist! These cases will not succumb to the correct homeopathic medicine.

2. Deep emotional insecurity: A person's deep-seated insecurity can make a dramatic difference in their lives. For example, a teenager, upon first awakening his sexual instinct, may look in the mirror and find himself unattractive. This shock creates hard-to-correct emotional instability that completely changes behavior. Other means of obtaining pleasure (for example, drugs, religious fanaticism, etc.) are replacing the happiness that the relationship would bring. If one captures such a case early, homeopathy can correct the disorder, but if this state has persisted for thirty years or so, then the state of mind cannot be changed. There is no possibility of the normal functioning of the body. In these cases, the cause is frustrated sexual desire. One can see how such people develop very limited religious views as a result of this frustration. The hindrances created by these limited ideas can be overwhelming; deep-rooted emotional insecurity does not allow them to be removed. These people may suffer from tics, cramps, depression, etc., which are completely unresponsive to homeopathic treatment.

3. Intractable family situations: Severe family stress, such as the birth of a child with a developmental delay or extreme poverty, can make parents sick. Due to the fact that they cannot get away from a situation that they consider so traumatic, they often do not respond to treatment. It is difficult to make a significant shift in the health of these people. Their life situation is too depressing. These people will be very sensitive. Very few parents will be permanently depressed over the birth of a developmentally delayed child. In such cases, some success can be achieved, especially after providing indirect assistance, such as finding a job or advising them to have another child who can give them the joy they are looking for.

4. "Sinful" habits: if a person is the victim of any addiction that he considers unsightly or sinful (homosexuality, pedophilia, masturbation, drug or alcohol addiction), then an unhealthy state of mind can be created that is very difficult to treat. In these cases, we will see the initial action of the remedy. They will feel very good, but the subconscious feeling that they are not doing the right thing will hinder healing. Eventually a relapse will occur. Relapses are very easy. The pressure on the psycho-emotional level is too strong for a person and upsets his balance.

5. Emotional death: people who have suffered terribly emotionally in life and have come to the conclusion that there is no love, no friendship, no camaraderie, suffer emotional death because of this. They shut themselves off from nurturing contact with other people. They are unsociable, losers, resentful people who suffered a lot, who were mistreated, who were constantly rejected. If you treat these people before they reach thirty, there is hope of achieving some result. After this age, the result will be minimal: the conviction that there is no love or affection in life, greatly interferes with treatment. These patients will bring you many experiences because you will see a hell of suffering living in these people. Much of what you can do for them will only be possible because of your true affection for them. Most of all, they need understanding and acceptance. Sometimes these people can be saved by directing all their attachment to the pet, but since such a limited emotional connection is unnatural, they will still have serious emotional problems.

We homeopaths are accused of providing only symptom relief through the placebo effect of our medications and compassionate attention. Almost everyone loves empathy, but few people recover from it. These patients are special: if you want to get them cured, you need to restore their faith in life before you can see any results. The suffering they faced in life made them doubt that anything good would happen to them. By contacting the doctor and expressing his understanding of the situation, they may wonder that perhaps, after all, the world is not as rough as they thought. In general, the doctor must be humane and understand the patient. This is why orthodox medicine has failed — it has become mechanistic and impersonal. She is trying to bring the pharmaceutical industry into the doctor's office, abandoning real, meaningful human contact.

Permanent dissatisfaction or a complete lack of satisfaction on an emotional level can be a real obstacle. Such dissatisfaction can arise for various reasons - for example, a sick child in the family, which is a constant exogenous source of sadness; the endogenous source of sadness is easy to balance, but only if it is not permanent. A suppressed but never forgotten love affair, a conscious sexual compromise on the part of a woman: she was never satisfied emotionally or sexually, because of an imposed marriage or disappointment from the very beginning of marriage, or she feels a lack of love or attraction from her husband and closed from the first days of marriage.

Constant failures in love affairs completely drain energy and leave the feeling that nothing brings pleasure and there is no point in even trying. This is a state of indifference, like Phosphoricum acid, but this medicine, like others, will only work partially.

Psychic blocks

1. At the deepest levels of the body, there are mental obstacles to the healing action of homeopathic medicines, which causes really significant changes in health. The optimal response to homeopathic treatment is a quantum leap in health that leaves the feeling of being reborn as opposed to simply relieving symptoms. The first group of people with such treatment hindrances is becoming more visible in our society. These people usually seek treatment after they have passed the phase in which a cure is possible. These are "spiritual seekers" for truth. Just don't get me wrong, I am not talking about all spiritual seekers. There is this type of aspirant, people who have experienced many frustrations in life and ultimately decided to become spirit persons. These people do not go through the necessary phases of spiritual development, but acquire specific forms of spiritual behavior, speech, and problem solving. They have a model in their heads that they are trying to follow. In fact, they are only playing the role of a spiritual seeker in an attempt to avoid difficulties and frustrations in their own lives.

This form of mental imbalance is prevalent in the Western world due to the vain disappointments created by the Western lifestyle. Very often these people gravitate towards Eastern religions, which can provide a solution to their problems. The need to find a solution is so great that they embrace religion or spiritualism all of a sudden, in one day. They can speak in a low, muffled, "spiritual" voice so as not to disturb others. They can be very humiliated because it fits with their understanding of spirituality. They may only be eating the “right” food — vegetarian, macrobiotic, etc., out of concern for the spiritual implications of mixing bad food or the energetic effects of yang and yin food, etc. This behavior is artificial. Let's consider this quality, humility; no one can suddenly become humble. Humility is acquired through years of persistent effort. In fact, what these people do is the rejection of their own life force, the denial of their own desires, their own individuality; as a result, they are striking in their complete lack of vitality, lack of life in their character.

This form of self-suppression represents a long-term shock to the body's defense system. She is denied the ability to generate symptoms, expressions of limitations, at the levels that this person suppresses. These patients will see a doctor frequently; they will be our best patients as they understand the fidelity of homeopathy. They want to be treated with this method, but they are difficult cases. They will not give symptoms, but instead will only complain of very general disorders; for example, weakness. Symptoms appear suppressed. Their complaints will be very vague and unclassifiable, making it difficult to choose the right medication. These patients are not only difficult to treat, but they lead the doctor to despair, as they return for treatment again and again, saying: "Nothing has changed for me." I found that Sepia gives a very similar state; self-suppression is very great. They are so at odds with themselves that they cannot even understand if they have an appetite or if they are thirsty. They suppressed their needs - for food, for sex, for life. This is suppression, an attempt to artificially build your life, based on a spiritual concept, a deception of the human body. Real spiritual seekers must be very aggressive. Finding the truth requires a lot of self-confidence and perseverance; more than any other human occupation. One cannot accept the passive, suppressed attitude of these seekers and hope to find the truth. Ninety percent of them will find that in the past they have greatly abused drugs - marijuana, LSD, heroin, etc. Such a person is very often strongly attached to some kind of guru. When he finally realizes that the guru is not God on earth, or when this guru sends him away because he can no longer tolerate his pathological adoration and attachment, then there will be serious symptoms indicating deep pathology. At such a moment, such patients are especially difficult to treat. In the end, the mind fails, and the person is left with a feeling of dissatisfaction and imperfection, and often goes crazy or falls into a manic-depressive state.

The real spiritual state, in my opinion, exists when a person lives at the peak of his ability to achieve happiness. This state is full of life, enthusiasm, energy. It is a calm but still dynamic state. We all have certain opportunities for happiness, some have more than others, but each has its own potential. When someone reaches their potential near the peak of their happiness, they are in a spiritual state. In this state, he cannot do harm; he is always creative and love naturally predominates. The mind becomes clear and the ideas are really creative. A truly spiritual person can achieve this state through any practice that leads to happiness, be it meditation or playing the piano, good conversation or romance, making a chair or laying tiles. Any such natural creativity can induce such an elated state.

Seeking spiritual experience through artificial drugs is an adventure that usually leads to spiritual death. How to work with people from such a group? Is it possible to change them? Very little constructive can be done for them. Don't try to change them. They must themselves discover what such deception leads to, what it is like to follow a false guru or use artificial means for spiritual practices, what it means to project onto the guru qualities that he does not have or that he did not even pretend to possess.

When the truth about their guru is revealed to them, they will become angry; they will experience great bitterness and frustration and take action. With this reaction, symptoms will arise - severe symptoms; then it is time to treat them and, perhaps, successfully. Or, if they are lucky, despite the lack of symptoms, to find the right medicine, then perhaps they can see the true state of affairs in their situation and change their lifestyle. If they don't change their lifestyle, there is no hope.

2. The second group of people with treatment difficulties consists of those who are obsessed with idefixes, for example, "Sex is disgusting!" Such ideas arise in women with a spinster psychology, whether they are married or not. The idea that sex is disgusting can alter the hormonal system in such a way that a homeopathic remedy is unlikely to be effective. Strong ideas like the one above can suppress the hormonal system.

Health obsessed

These people usually have a fix for health and illness, and their symptoms are heavily influenced by these ideas and the diets they tend to follow. Many hypochondriacs fall into this category, whose whole life revolves around what to cook and what to eat. Such a strong preoccupation with food, its healthy and unhealthy properties, cooking and so on. speaks of an unhealthy state of mind and harms the body, which remains insensitive to the correct homeopathic medicine. These people seem to have stopped the flow of life, which is necessary for the natural functioning of the body.

Intellectuals

More often than not, intellectuals create a false impression of their overall health. Since they tend to logically understand everything that happens to them, and explain it to themselves and others accordingly, they always give their own interpretation of their symptoms. It’s strange that many times intellectuals have told me that they understand (and they understand really quickly) that homeopathy is the right way to heal. But it is very difficult to get "smart" patients (ie themselves) to correctly understand and describe their symptoms as needed. Quite the opposite, simple, uneducated people describe their symptoms much more clearly and directly, because they express their subjective feelings without passing them through the logical mind, as intellectuals do. They express nature as it is, while intellectuals distort nature by interpreting it according to their quirks.

Usually very sick people suffer from unconscious feelings of guilt. These are those who have not lived their lives naturally, but their logical mind has always invaded the intuitive level. The intellectuals of our time are a line of degenerate and at the same time refined and weak people. Deprived of emotions, intellectuals will many times answer "yes" or "no", will hesitate more than necessary, before giving an "exact" answer or correctly understanding the nature of your question. For them, your question will always have several meanings. By trying to be precise, they lose the immediacy and authenticity that we need to clearly assess the defense mechanism and the importance of the symptom to the body.

Intellectuals thought about everything and divided everything into categories. They have planned their whole life and live according to this plan. Every event in their life is the result of careful thought, leaving little room for spontaneity in life. These are successful people, but they always have an inner feeling that they are missing something. In reality, they lack life itself. These people will be either proponents of homeopathy or great skeptics of it. Skeptics can go to a homeopath, but say that they are not convinced of the effectiveness of homeopathy. But in any of these groups, finding out the symptoms will be very ineffective.

What strategy can be followed in relation to these patients? You will have to ask them to come back for another consultation because you did not understand the nature of their case. Do you think this will upset them? On the contrary, they will enjoy it. They think, "Ah! I am a difficult case, and he is trying very hard to understand my case." They will be back. Until you finally have real information, do not make appointments in such cases. If you make a prescription based on false information and give the wrong medication, you will lose it. They will not see the result of your work and will not return. Keep telling them that you still don't understand their case, that you won't make the assignment until you fully understand it. They will love it and will come back again and again.

These people are likely to have some kind of peculiar symptoms that they will not talk about until they form a connection with you and begin to trust you. One day they will begin to speak sincerely and reveal their true symptoms. It is impossible for them to do that in the first interview. During the treatment, you will see many fears and concerns that were not initially accepted or expressed. Previously, these fears and apprehensions were controlled by the mind. As these people relax, they begin to feel their emotions, become aware of their fears and feelings of insecurity. Of course, this expression of their true essence will greatly help in choosing the right homeopathic medicine.

Independent patient

The fourth group of patients, a specific group, does not want to feel dependent on the doctor. On return visits, they are likely to confuse the interpretation of their response to the drug, saying that any improvement they see may have been the result of some other treatment or something else. You need to be very careful with these people because they have an inherent fear of becoming addicted to someone if they admit that your medicine has improved them. Again, this state of mind is an unhealthy state. Interdependence in life is a natural process. Do not contradict the opinion of these people that your medicine helped them. Let them doubt. In the end, they will become so convinced of the effectiveness of your treatment that they will accept their dependence on you. Then you can help remove this innate fear of addiction by emphasizing that whatever you do is your job, that they don't owe you anything. Their only responsibility is to pay your royalties. This group is very small, but you will encounter it.

Patients in the groups described above will make up only ten to twenty percent of all your patients. In ideal practice, the work with each patient should be successful. This is the standard of excellence that we can all strive for.

V 1996 year European Parliament invited J. Vithoulkas to talk about the state of homeopathy and after his presentation voted in favor of homeopathy.
June 11 1999 of the year Council of Europe asked J. Vithoulkas to give a meaningful one-day presentation on homeopathic medicine (to assess alternative therapies) before the Commission on Social, Health and Family Affairs. In the materials that were published later, it was noted that he received Alternative Nobel Prize, and references were made to his classification of a variety of alternative therapies.

In his speech, entitled "Is Homeopathy a Science?" J. Vithoulkas spoke about the impressive achievements in the field of homeopathy over the past fifteen years. He described the fundamental principles of homeopathy and emphasized that the clinical experience of thousands of homeopaths around the world in the treatment of chronic diseases suggests that homeopathy should be regarded as "evidence-based medicine."

    International Academy of Classical Homeopathy

V 1995 year J. At the Academy, J. Vithoulkas conveys knowledge and experience gained over 40 years of work and teaches modern theories regarding "levels of health". During the training, detailed information is provided that allows doctors to determine the "health level" of the patient, helps to understand whether the case is curable, and to estimate how much time and homeopathic remedies it will take to cure.
Every summer, groups of doctors from different countries of the world gather for training at the Academy: Germany, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Russia, USA, Canada, Austria, Japan, India, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Greece.
Fifteen thousand (15000) doctors and practicing homeopaths from sixty-two (62) countries have been trained at the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy.

In an extended article in the authoritative encyclopedia "Papyros Larousse-Britannica" (Greek edition, vol. 15, p. 396). George Vithoulkas is presented as "the leading homeopath, one of the most famous reformers of homeopathy in the twentieth century, the man who introduced new science-based ideas into homeopathy." His work is featured in Who's Who in the World (18th ed., P. 2293).

Information about J. Vithoulkas can be found on the pages of the website

Today George Vithoulkas is an honorary professor at the Moscow Medical Academy (Academy of Medical Sciences), a professor at the Kiev Medical Academy and a collaborating professor at the Basque Medical University (2001-2004).

In 1996, he was awarded the Right Livelihood Award (also known as the Alternative Nobel Prize). "... for his outstanding contribution to the revival of homeopathy and the training of homeopaths at the highest level." The UN (Development Forum) considers this award one of the most prestigious in the world, and Time magazine named Jacob Uekskull, the inspirer of this award, as one of the 37 "heroes" of 2005. In 2000. President of the Hungarian Republic Arpad Gonj presented George Vithoulkas with a gold medal for his work for the benefit of homeopathy.

In 1995, Professor Vithoulkas founded the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy on the island of Alonissos, where he is the director. In this academy, George Vithoulkas conveys all his forty years of experience, as well as his latest thoughts on the level of health. At his seminars, he explains all the details that can help the doctor determine the health status of each individual patient, as well as give an opportunity to assess whether this case is curable with the help of homeopathy, how long it will take and what medicines.

Every summer, doctors from Germany, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Russia, USA, Canada, Austria, Japan, India, Mexico, Brazil and of course from Greece come to seminars every summer.

Three years ago, the University of Aegean (www.syros.aegean.gr), in collaboration with the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy, began a long-term training course for certified dentists, veterinarians and pharmacists in homeopathy.

But the culmination of the recognition of homeopathic education in Greece was the publication in the government newspaper FEK (12/29/2006) of a permit to introduce a two-year master's program for doctors and dentists at the University of Aegean. The program is called “The Holistic Alternative Therapeutic System - Classical Homeopathy” (www.syros.aegean.gr/homeopathy). The International Academy of Classical Homeopathy and Professor George Vithoulkas will participate in this program.

    J. Vithoulkas is a columnist for the Medical Science Monitor. He is the supervisor of many doctoral dissertations.

.. George Vithoulkas, now a renowned homeopath, in his book A New Model of Health and Disease, for which he received the Alternative Nobel Prize in 1996, writes:

... every pain, discomfort, anxiety, distress or weakness of the physical body leads to a restriction of freedom and a feeling of slavish dependence on pain or discomfort. A person is forced to direct all his attention to pain at the expense of everything else, and, of course, loses a general sense of well-being. It is for this reason that health on the physical plane can be defined as follows: health is freedom from pain in the physical body, the attainment of a state of well-being.

and further in the same place:

health on the emotional plane is freedom from passion expressed in a dynamic state of serenity and equanimity "," a good parameter for measuring a person's health is the degree to which he free for creativity... Any basically healthy person will strive to create rather than destroy.

“Popular dictionary of the Russian language. Explanatory-encyclopedic "treats passion as" A strong feeling, hardly controlled by reason. " The Big Modern Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language defines passion as “A strong feeling, a passion created by the impulses of instinct. Strong attraction to something, constant inclination. "

That is, it turns out that health is not only freedom from pain and discomfort, but also freedom, flexibility, awareness of emotional manifestations, as well as the need for creativity.

Accordingly, if someone constantly, for a long time experiences monotonous (permanent) negative feelings and emotions, for example: jealousy, irritation or despondency and anxiety, even if the temperature is in order and nothing hurts, he is sick.
A person who has no interest in doing something new (in fact, this is creativity) - sick too.

The problem may simply be that such a person does not feel sick, or does not consider it necessary to seek help, or thinks that he cannot be helped... This is almost certainly one of the symptoms of the disease - avoidance of help, the desire to suffer alone. Only then, evaluating the results of the treatment, he realizes how bad he was.

For clarity, an example from practice.

A seventy-three-year-old woman consulted a doctor. An adult son brought her to the appointment, who was helped by homeopathic remedies. And with the words “Well, let you be seventy-three years old! What if it helps? " he left the office.

A woman five years ago suffered a myocardial infarction, suffers from angina pectoris and hypertension. Today she complains of shortness of breath and pressing pains behind the sternum that appear when walking for short distances, so she has to walk slowly. Does not tolerate heat, likes coolness, is often nervous and easily irritated, does not tolerate pressure on the neck - does not wear sweaters, blouses with a buttoned top button. It is difficult for her to fall asleep, because there is a feeling of anxiety and lack of air, she tries to go to bed as late as possible. She has pain in the lower back, it is difficult for her to straighten her back after bending over, the pain radiates to the right leg. Sometimes the pain is so severe that it immobilizes.

This woman is receiving treatment: nitrates, antihypertensives, diuretics, beta-blockers and sedatives. For back pain - non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
After a heart attack, a woman leaves the house a little, worries a lot about her sons, often cries, remembering her life.

She was prescribed one single homeopathic remedy: three globules (these are small sugar balls) once a day, for two days. That is, there are only two tricks.
A month later, her son said that “my mother began to often come to visit, and she insisted that she would come on foot (she didn’t need to go by car), she went to the market and shops, helped them in the garden (and this was not five years!), is actively involved in winter procurement ”. She also thinks that she is taking too many pills and began to gradually reduce the doses of allopathic drugs herself, while she does not see any worsening from this and feels great.
The woman applied again four months later. According to her, the pains in the breastbone practically do not bother, but shortness of breath and a painful mood, insomnia reappeared. To the question "why did it work like that, from her point of view?" replied that one of her sons was in serious trouble at work and she was worried about him.
Repeatedly, once, the same remedy was prescribed.

As a result, the mood improved, insomnia and shortness of breath disappeared. To the question: "What about the son's troubles?" replied that he was old enough to be able to cope with his troubles on his own.

So, we see recovery: on the physical level - the absence of pain and shortness of breath, on the emotional level - the lack of attachment to the problems of the son, an emotionally positive state, the desire for self-realization, for creativity (preparations for the winter, shopping, walking). The next time this woman came after six months - for another dose of the drug. By this time, she had completely stopped taking other medicines.

Illness is not only pain, shortness of breath, cough, weakness and impaired function.
Jealousy, irritability "like gunpowder", a woman who is forced to "nag" her husband with an illness, lack of sexual satisfaction and excessive sexual desire. Fear, excessive sweating, tearfulness and frequent mood swings, the desire to lead, the need to overeat, insomnia. The feeling of "dullness" and the inability to think, indecision, laziness, desire to destroy, aggression, excessive self-righteousness - this is not a complete list of conditions that are absolutely normal human conditions and signs of health. If only these are not long-term, permanent states.

And all these pathological phenomena, which are permanent, are successfully resolved with the help of adequate homeopathic treatment.

    Hello!

    To be continued…

In the process of taking a chance, it is very important to ask fundamental issues:

    • Is the patient mentally healthy? For example, is he able to express his emotions clearly and confidently?
    • Is it flexible or rigid?
    • Are you capable of creative solutions?
    • Does he have a clear awareness of the purpose, value and meaning of his life, or is he indifferent, does he have apathy?
    • Is the desire for individuality developed in him or is he weak and not confident in himself?
    • What is the balance between selfishness and over-caring, over empathy and selflessness bordering on sacrifice?
    • How easily did the patient go through the stages of his development? At what stage of development did it stop?
    • What negative and positive emotions does he experience?
    • Finally, what motivates the patient: common sense or is it directed by his subconscious and restricts his freedom?
    • How are symptoms related to the patient's life and personal development?
    • How exactly did the patient perceive the stress that he had to endure? What was his reaction to this? How did this reaction become a rigid response? How long was this reaction and how did it develop?
    • Do I really understand this person and his fundamental dilemmas in life?
    • How and why did he get sick?
    • What needs to be cured in the patient?
    • What is the main factor limiting a patient's health and happiness?
    • What is his inner conflict or central frustration?
    • What is the nature of the patient? For example, can he be rude, delicate, sensitive, unrestrained, level-headed, evasive, open, withdrawn, easily irritable, cold-blooded, heavy, bright, bright, polite, restless, or peaceful?
    • What impression does his body type make? What kind of clothes is he wearing? How quickly does he answer questions? Can he look me in the eye? What does he do with his hands? Is there tension in your face? Is he sitting upright or hunched over?
    • What can you feel in a patient? It can be neutrality, judgment, anger, empathy, rigidity, sexuality, anxiety, suppression of emotions. Perhaps this is some type of anxiety, some kind of fear? Is it suppressed anger with sadness outside? Or anger suppressed by fear?

Write down your impressions without thinking about the possible remedy. Try to understand his main drive, misconceptions and how this affects him.

Understand his underlying inner conflicts and deep patterns that shape his life. How did these models come about, and how do they conflict with the present situation? What are the reactions of the vital force and why exactly did the organism choose such reactions?

Here are the thoughts a doctor should be asking. Moreover, to do this with an open mind in order to create an environment in which the patient will be able to express and express his deepest thoughts and feelings.

    Correct repertory methods

As a result, you will receive factual information that will allow you to truly understand the patient's life and find the key symptoms for repertorization. Of course, this is not true for all cases, since they are all different. Perhaps the patient is healthy and does not have deep conflicts, or, in spite of everything, he cannot open up and tell you about them.

It would seem that using a computer program to find the necessary homeopathic remedy is quite simple: for this you just need to select the right symptoms and set their intensities, and the computer will find a suitable similarity.

On the other hand, many people think that it is better to remember all the drugs and prescribe them based on the knowledge of Materia Medica, and not open the repertory at all. Some cases can train the doctor to use these methods.

Unfortunately, there are many cases, the complexity of which requires the homeopathic physician to know a variety of techniques.

Here a list of skills and things a homeopath needs:

    • Know about all the conditions of a person so that any health disorder can be easily recognized. The wisdom to see things as they are, and to know all the possible manifestations of pathology.
    • Have an objective understanding of the goals and possibilities of healing in each case. Be able to make an objective forecast.
    • Have intuition and observation skills, the harmonious combination of which will provide meaningful and factual information from the patient.
    • The ability to perceive this information without bias or distortion and fix it objectively.
    • The ability to understand what needs to be cured the moment the patient manifests his symptoms.
    • The ability to select only significant symptoms, and at the moment when they appear.
    • Have a repertory program that is complete, accurate, and obeying the laws of homeopathy during analysis to the extent that this is sufficient for a reasonable prescription.
    • Have knowledge of materia medica and clinical experience on which the proposals of the program could be validated.
    • To be able to present a case as a living picture and compare this living picture with a living picture of a preparation in order to "know" whether a similarity has been found.
    • Be able to manage the case: know when to repeat the drug, when to wait, when to change the drug, or to turn to other treatments.

As you can see, the process of repertory and case analysis depends on complex interdependent elements. The purpose of this article is to emphasize the need for in-depth study.

Each case is different, and therefore you cannot apply the same approach to everyone.... Perceive information in different ways. Look for a way to group the symptoms during the appointment so that they make you look like them.

Compare all the possible ways. The appointment can be based on one or more of the following criteria:

    • Whole medical history
    • Parents' medical history
    • Current symptoms
    • Symptoms of the patient's mother during pregnancy
    • The period from birth to the onset of the disease
    • Etiology, causation (causation), the moment after which it did not get better
    • Pre-onset symptoms
    • Current state
    • Totality of symptoms
    • Recurring symptoms
    • Persistent or permanent symptoms
    • Combination of mental, general, key and local symptoms
    • Only mental symptoms
    • Mental and general symptoms
    • Mental and local symptoms
    • General and key symptoms
    • General and local symptoms
    • Local and key
    • Local only
    • Hahnemann's classification of symptoms
    • "One-sided" cases (Hahnemann)
    • Key, peculiar and characteristic symptoms
    • The minimum set of symptoms of maximum significance,
    • Few symptoms that the patient would describe
    • The relationship of drugs
    • The dynamics of the patient, how the patient expresses his essence (Vithoulkas)
    • Basic delusion, situational Materia Medica
    • From bodily injury to deep
    • Morphology

Many homeopathic practitioners will agree with the following technique: First, repertoire the “strong homeopathic” symptoms. Severe are repetitive, intense, peculiar mental symptoms that are expressed by the patient clearly and spontaneously. The next most important type of symptoms is a kind of general or peculiar local symptoms. These are all so-called "key" symptoms. Then you need to add modalities.

Refer to the headings that best describe the essence and basic properties of the case. Now you can repertoire the case and first find a drug that would cover all of the above. Do this for each possible remedy, and then compare them with each other. If the drug is chosen correctly, it will cover the symptoms of local pathologies. Find out how many symptoms are covered by the top-ranked drugs, and then compare the picture of the case with the picture of all of these drugs.

Always consider the case impartially, without prejudice, and then you will find a remedy that also suits the occasion, as the favorite shoe suits its owner. If this is not feasible, then you may have to prescribe the drug only for local symptoms, such as in the case presented in 1992 at the International Foundation for Homeopathy (IFH) Case Conference. The patient had an "extremely enlarged spleen." He was prescribed Ceanothus, as an enlarged spleen was the main characteristic of this remedy. This case was presented by Eric Sommermann.

Last year I also had a similar case. The patient only had rashes on the palms. I have not been able to find a single remedy among the polychrests that has this symptom. Then, on the basis of the rare locality of this symptom, I prescribed Anagalis. The rash has improved significantly. In one recent case, a patient was unable to sleep for more than one to two hours a night. From the psyche there was only restlessness, she was fastidious and she got worse from the heat. It was Arsenicum iodatum. This is an example of how the typical core of physical anxiety has been left out. The case was resolved because the remedy covered the totality of the symptoms.

In essence, the physician can exclude drugs that have strong modalities that the patient does not have. For example, if your patient is very hot and has a pronounced aversion to heat, and Nux vomica comes first for whatever reason, then it can be removed from the list of possible remedies, because Nux vomica is a typically chilly remedy. If the patient was at a neutral temperature, Nux vomica could be prescribed.

A drug can also be ruled out if its modalities conflict with the patient's modalities. For example, a patient has joint pain that gets better from movement. We know that Bryonia, on the other hand, is aggravated by motion, so that this remedy can be ruled out.

It is wrong to exclude drugs just because the patient's mental or emotional symptoms do not fit the picture of the remedy. The fact is that many drugs have different manifestations and you may not be aware of all of them. For example, Graphites can be very dull and coarse, or very sensitive and anxious about anything. Medorrhinum can be oversensitive or overly indifferent and appear macho. It is important to learn all the essences of each drug, but it is much more important not to have some rigidly fixed idea of a particular drug, because a person is unlikely to be able to learn all the essences of even one drug.

If your patient does not have any of the key symptoms that can confirm the correct remedy, you need to consider the following:

If you want to prescribe a common polychrest, then it may be better to look for another drug, or to prescribe this one in combination with a remedy in which the patient's peculiar key symptoms are present.

For example, I once had a case of a woman prone to suicide and depression. In many ways it resembled Aurum metallicum, but there were no strong key symptoms to support this remedy. Nevertheless, I prescribed this remedy for her, as it suited her very essence. After a month there was no relief, and then I found out that she had a strong desire for salt and was aggravated by the sun. Now I was more confident in the remedy and prescribed Aurum muriaticum for her, which had a very profound and lasting positive effect on her.

If you do not have a strong "homeopathic symptom", do not rely on the "ordinary" symptoms of the disease, as this very symptom will be your lifeline in a troubled sea. I recently had a case: a child with persistent bladder infections, severe abdominal pain and a very irritable (angry) temperament. The strongest homeopathic symptom that led to the correct remedy was extreme jealousy. This leading symptom was the most important in this case, and since I did not forget about it, I finally managed to think of giving her Calcarea sulphurica, which greatly relieved her symptoms.

In the end, strong compassion for the patient, an insightful mind, intuition, emotional contact with the patient - all this together will provide ideas, questions and answers to the question "how to resolve the case?" In this respect, a doctor is akin to an experienced detective. Even the smallest and at first glance insignificant evidence can be so important that it can explain everything.

    And finally some tips:

    • After adding two symptoms to the repertory, see how the result has changed.
    • If in doubt about a symptom, rule it out, leaving only the important ones.
    • Separate the local symptoms from all others to see if any small remedy from the local symptoms is appropriate for the case. It can cover the entire constitution of the patient.
    • Study the small drugs in the materia medica when you come across them.
    • Study the symptoms of acute diseases carefully, you may find an "acute remedy" that is profound constitutional at the same time.
