General characteristics

Type

Deciding on the type of device (phone or smartphone?) is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to stop the choice on the phone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly less than that of a regular phone.

Memory and processor

CPU

Modern phones and smartphones usually use special processors - SoC (System on Chip, system on a chip), which, in addition to the processor itself, houses the graphics core, memory controller, I / O device controller, etc. Therefore, the processor largely determines the set of functions and device performance.

In addition to a cable for connecting to a PC and a charger, it comes with a mediocre wired headset and five interchangeable panels in the following colors: blue, red, orange, black and white. Note that the red, orange and white panels are made of glossy plastic, and the black and blue are made of matte. In order to remove the back cover, you need to pry it off the microUSB connector.

Dimensions - 4.7

We compared the dimensions of the Omega Prime Mini with other compact smartphones with a diagonal of 4.3 inches, and we can note that the Prime Mini is not only not inferior to the Mini versions of the flagships of well-known companies (Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC One Mini), but according to some criteria even surpasses them. For example, this smartphone is 7.8mm thick, while the Galaxy S4 Mini is 9.25mm and the One Mini is 8.94mm. As for the weight of the Omega Prime Mini, it is the same as that of the S4 Mini (107 grams), but the HTC One Mini (apparently due to the aluminum case) is slightly heavier (122 grams). The main material used in Prime Mini is matte or glossy (depending on the choice of the rear panel) plastic. There are almost no fingerprints on the first one, but the glossy panels are quickly covered with them. Due to this difference, we recommend that you use matte panels (blue and black) as they are more practical.

Screen - 3.6

Display diagonal - 4.3 inches, screen resolution - 960 × 540 pixels, matrix type - IPS. This screen uses OGS technology (one-glass-solution) - that is, there is no air gap between the screen and the protective glass. This solution allows you to improve the quality of the image, make the picture visually closer to the user. The screen has maximum viewing angles, a good level of brightness, excellent picture clarity and natural colors. We tested the Prime Mini's display in sunny and semi-dark conditions. In the first case, the display almost completely “blinds”, and in the second, the minimum brightness level was enough for comfortable reading. In general, the model's screen left a positive impression, it has good viewing angles, a clear picture and natural color reproduction. We consider the lack of an oleophobic coating to be the main drawback; when using gestures, the finger often gets stuck, and the screen itself is harder to wipe off from fingerprints and dirt. We also note that small fonts do not look clear enough, this is the consequences of not having the highest resolution.

Camera

The smartphone has an 8 MP camera with LED flash. The maximum resolution for video recording is 1280 × 720 pixels, the recording speed is 25 frames per second, the sound is recorded in mono mode. The quality of the camera is low, it will suit only the most undemanding users. Considering Prime Mini as a replacement for the camera is clearly not worth it.

Working with text - 5.0

The manufacturer did not preinstall its own keyboard, but decided to leave the built-in keyboard from Google. This solution has both pros and cons. Of the pluses, we note the convenient location of the keys, the ability to quickly dial numbers by holding the key, as well as support for input with gestures (Swype). The key drawback, in our opinion, is the very meager dictionary in the keyboard, it does not know most Russian words, so if you make a mistake when entering, then you should not count on the keyboard to automatically correct the typo. Thanks to the size of the Prime Mini, you can type text with one hand, with most smartphones, due to their size, this is no longer very convenient.

Internet - 1.0

As in the case of the keyboard, the manufacturer did not replace the built-in browser with its own. Specifically, in this case, we do not see any problems in such a solution, since the standard browser from Android 4.0 is one of the best in terms of ease of use and speed. The browser supports auto-fit text to fit the screen, for this, after increasing the text, you need to double-click on the screen, and the text will automatically adjust, this is a very convenient option. But there is no separate reading mode, and this is a minus.

Interfaces

The smartphone has the following interfaces: Wi-Fi (b/g/n) (no support for dual-band Wi-Fi), Bluetooth and GPS. But NFC and LTE are missing.

Multimedia - 1.0

We tried to play various video files on the Omega Prime Mini: the smartphone supports only the most common formats and codecs, the player plays videos in high quality, up to 720p. There is no support for rare formats, there is also no choice of subtitles and audio tracks. The audio player in the smartphone plays only popular MP3, AAC, WAV formats. In our opinion, using Prime Mini as a compact video player is not very convenient.

Working hours

The smartphone has a non-removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1600 mAh. By modern standards, these are rather modest numbers, in the same Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, the battery capacity is 1900 mAh. The results of our tests are as follows: when watching HD video at maximum brightness, the device is discharged in 3 hours (6 hours for the Galaxy S4 Mini), while listening to music - in 24 hours (35 hours for the Galaxy S4 Mini).

Performance - 1.5

The device uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225Q platform with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 203 graphics subsystem, 1 GB of RAM. We compared the power of this chipset with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and can note that the "400" is significantly faster both in everyday work and in games. In our opinion, speed is not the Omega Prime Mini's strong point. From time to time, you may experience slowdowns when scrolling through pages on desktops, as well as when scrolling text in a browser. It is important to note that the use of such a chipset is due to the desire to set a lower final price for a smartphone. We do not recommend considering Prime Mini as a gaming smartphone.

Memory - 5.0

The amount of built-in memory in the Omega Prime Mini is 4 GB, it is completely inaccessible to the user. To be honest, before testing Highscreen smartphones, we have not seen models that would completely abandon the internal memory available to the user. The obvious disadvantage of this solution is the need to purchase a separate memory card. However, there is a plus - usually in budget models they save a lot on internal memory, which is why you cannot install a large number of games (their cache takes up a fair amount of memory and is written only to internal memory). In Omega Prime Mini (and some other Highscreen smartphones), the memory card is recognized as internal memory, and the cache of third-party games and applications is automatically written to it. Separately, we note that the smartphone supports cards up to 32 GB.

Peculiarities

The main features of Omega Prime Mini are the presence of five interchangeable panels in the kit at once, as well as compact dimensions. Otherwise, we have a typical Android smartphone. We also note the device's support for working with two SIM-cards at once. However, due to the use of only one radio module, during a conversation on one SIM card, the second one becomes inaccessible.

I welcome the users of the Club of Experts, as well as all the guests who have visited this page.
Today I will tell you about the summer, brightest smartphone Highscreen Omega Prime Mini.

highscreen decided to continue expanding the design by increasing the color covers of the smartphone in the kit. If you remember, not so long ago, new models Omega Prime and Omega Prime XL appeared on the market, which had three covers of different colors. Bright yellow, black and white. This time the company went further Omega Prime Mini- the first phone on the market with five color panels included.

Package

The packaging of the device is unremarkable. Yellowish cardboard box with dimensions 138x75x70 mm. The upper part shows a smartphone without a back cover, next to it there is information about the display, processor, network and battery. On all sides only the name of the model is duplicated. The back part is also not informative, just a barcode and a couple of certificates of conformity badges.

In general, it can be noted that the packaging is quite compact, but does not have the necessary information due to which it is possible to determine the technical characteristics and appearance.

Equipment

Opening the lid, the first thing we see is a smartphone packed in a plastic bag.

There is also a white ribbon designed for more convenient removal of the cardboard partition. The package also includes a charger, microUSB - USB cable for charger and connection to a PC, headset, warranty card, instructions and completes the list of five interchangeable panels of different colors.

In general, we can say that the equipment is quite standard (not counting the additional panels), there is nothing superfluous and unnecessary.

Appearance

Highscreen Omega Prime Mini has a rectangular shape with rounded edges, almost the entire front part is occupied by a 4.3-inch screen. I would like to note that the smartphone comes with a protective film already pasted. It is pasted without bubbles and other irregularities. This is a significant plus when buying such a device.

Below are three standard touch buttons, the images of which are almost invisible.

In the upper part there is a 2 megapixel front camera, and next to it is a speaker.

On the back side below, there are 2 rows of holes for the main speaker, just above the silver Highscreen logo.

And at the very top is an 8 megapixel camera and an LED flash.

On the left side is the volume control button.

On the right side is the on / off button of the smartphone.

On the top edge Highscreen Omega Prime Mini there is a 3.5 mm jack for connecting a stereo headset and a micro USB connector.

On the bottom is a microphone hole.

Under the cover, most of the space is occupied by the battery. Here it is non-removable, as the big sticker says.

This, of course, remains a mystery to the manufacturer, as it is more common to see models with removable batteries.
The battery capacity is 1600 mAh. This is extremely small for an Android device.
Slightly higher are slots for two SIM-cards (microSIM), there is also a warning that you can not change SIM-cards when the device is turned on. To the left is the microSD slot.

As I already noted, five colored interchangeable panels are included in the package. Black, white, red, orange and blue. Moreover, red and orange are made of glossy plastic, while the rest are made of matte. The lid covers not only the back side, but also the sides, and the volume rocker and power button are built into it. This undoubtedly gives individuality to this device.
The rest of the equipment is standard and unremarkable.
In general, we can say that the smartphone is made quite well, the cover fits snugly, there are no gaps, no squeaks. I didn't have any complaints about the look. The color range of the panels covers a very large number of consumers, along with bright colors there are also strict ones. Only a non-removable battery somewhat overshadows the functionality of the device.

Operating system and menus

Highscreen Omega Prime Mini works under the Android operating system version 4.1.2. This version is quite outdated. When you turn on your smartphone hitherto invisible buttons light up with blue fire. The company logo appears on the screen

And after a few seconds, a window of preliminary settings appears before us.

After that, a standard interface appears with five desktops.
The main desktop of the system.

The usual menu consisting of five pages with the main set of pre-installed applications and five pages of widgets.

Images of wallpaper for your desktop.

Images of live wallpapers for your desktop.

Lock screen.

Shutter with ten shortcut icons.

There are no additional applications here, but I would like to note that 4Sync provides registered users with 20GB of online storage.

Here are some screenshots of standard applications:
Play market

Easy-to-use equalizer with the ability to change frequencies and 3D effect.

A convenient explorer has the ability to select files by type.

The Settings tab is no different from other Android devices.

Highscreen Omega Prime Mini installed TFT-IPS-matrix. The display diagonal is 4.3 inches with a resolution of 540x960. Viewing angles are very good and even at large deviations there is no color inversion.

As a result, the appearance of the menu is not fundamentally different, but it contains all the necessary settings for the normal operation of the smartphone.

Usage

Use Omega Prime Mini pure pleasure. Pleasant to the touch, fits perfectly in the hand. The caller's voice is perfectly audible during telephone conversations. The call sound is not the loudest, but it is quite enough to be heard even in a noisy place. The screen touch sensitively responds to touch without delay, so the use of the menu is not difficult. The same can be said about watching videos. History repeats itself with the Internet. Smooth page turning, excellent video loading.
When playing audio recordings, the sound quality is average, if you turn it upside down, it is significantly muffled.
With simple games, the smartphone copes with a bang, complex ones are a little harder, but nevertheless without any complaints. Although the screen size makes it difficult to control to some extent.
The key layout is unusual. The left one is "Menu" and the right one is "Back".

Camera

Camera Highscreen Omega Prime Mini is of average quality. Photo and video recording is quite tolerable. Below is the settings interface, as well as shooting examples.

In the end, I want to say that the smartphone is easy to use. For games, of course. Highscreen Omega Prime Mini not the best option, but for web surfing this device fits perfectly. The recording quality is satisfactory and it is quite enough to capture the moments of life when there is no camera at hand.

Testing

The main flaw Highscreen Omega Prime Mini it's the battery, its battery life. According to the results of the AnTuTu Tester battery test, our smartphone showed a low result of 311 points.

In Vellamo, HTML 5 - 1196 points and METAL - 387 points.

The display is designed for the simultaneous touch of five fingers.

In AnTuTu Benchmark Highscreen Omega Prime Mini scored 11219 points.

All tests showed the expected results.

Output

As a result, it can be said that Highscreen Omega Prime Mini First of all, this is a well thought out design. Five removable covers of different colors can be changed according to mood or chosen with clothes. But it is impossible not to highlight a sufficiently powerful hardware platform and a high-quality touch screen. During web surfing, the smartphone behaves stably, smoothly without any complaints. The same applies to telephone conversations, even in a noisy environment, the interlocutor is clearly audible. It also copes with casual games with ease, but it is still not designed for more powerful ones. The only thing that can overshadow the use is the fact that the smartphone's battery is not removable and its capacity leaves much to be desired. But in general, Highscreen Omega Prime Mini fully justifies its cost (at the time of this writing, its price was 7490 rubles) and is best for women due to the size and colored removable panels.

What did not like

Naked android. Tired of looking for and installing third-party launchers. I want a special development already installed at the manufacturing plant.

What did you like

The case has not only a variety of colors, but also a variety of different plastics. Black and white from a non-staining tenacious soft touch, yellow and red from the usual shiny gloss. 4 cores, but not from MTK, but from Qualcomm. The level is different. The processor is smoother, tasks switch quickly, many of the games available on the market run. Installed and running Xloud. Gadget for improved sound quality. On smartphones with MTK, this functionality did not work for me. On the kualka, the sound improved several times. Fast camera shooting and high-quality pictures. The pictures are not bad, based on the cost of the smartphone. During the day, it turns out noticeably better than in the evening or at night. No network reset and no internet loss. In the normal coverage area of the operator, the Internet stably holds 4 megabits or more in triji.

What did not like

Slippery gloss of each panel. Grab your smartphone with greasy hands after cooking, I'll see how you hold it.

What did you like

Kualkomovsky percent, not responding to dull and heavy software. Mtkashny percent would have fallen ill in a couple of minutes from programs of this level, with the wrong and ugly code. Qualcom with 4 cores such programs will not harm and will not drive into a state of stupefaction. The small screen resolution is compensated by a wonderful matrix and the speed of the smartphone. 4 possible panels. Bright. Colorful. Noticeable.

What did not like

A meager shell that lacks the functionality that users of Samsung, Asus, Lenovo, HTC and models from some other manufacturers get used to.

What did you like

Compact, suitable for the older generation who have mastered conventional mobile phones, and then smartphones, but are not used to phablets; + cheap.

What did not like

Non-removable battery (only 1600 mAh), not fresh Android (4.3)

What did you like

It fits comfortably in the hand, good design (the smartphone is thin and very light), additional interchangeable multi-colored panels (black and white matte, red and yellow gloss), good ips screen, normal filling, bare android without unnecessary applications, install whatever you want (for me this +), quite loud and clear external and conversational speaker, 2 sim (true micro), good assembly (no backlash, no creaks), camera (8mp) is quite average. 8 GB of internal memory (not 4 as described here).

What did not like

What did you like

The model is not expensive, good looking, with two SIM cards, a good processor, a strong Internet connection, etc., etc.

What did not like

A non-removable battery, if it freezes, you need to wait for a complete discharge, and for the first month of operation it has already frozen 2 times

What did you like

thin, beautiful, functional

What did not like

Everything justified. I do not like the moment of unlocking - after pressing the button, there is almost a second pause and the screen is unlocked. Then it flies in everything, and this moment was annoying at first

What did not like

What did you like

Lightweight, thin, does not tupit, a set of panels, a camera with a flash.

1.5 years old and it's like new. The dimensions are pleasant in the hand. The price is justified.

What did not like

little built-in memory

What did you like

size 4.3 inches, thin and light design, good 8MP camera, 4 color interchangeable panels, 2 sim, inexpensive company

What did not like

Got a bad copy. The microphone worked disgustingly, it cuts off high frequencies a lot. After the warranty repair, 2 weeks (in principle, promptly) replacement of the external speaker microphone unit. It has become a little better, but far from any phone, there are also no high frequencies.

What did you like

Convenient Nimble Nice Good service about it below.

What did not like

Speaker volume
Audibility during a conversation is enough at the maximum .. but in a noisy place you have to strain.
The naked shell is not pleasing to the eye at all.
After the purchase, you need to thoroughly work on the phone so that it becomes convenient to use.
Missed call LED missing

What did you like

I just bought this device yesterday. The price reduction and the urgent need to take a new inexpensive device affected. What can I say - for me it’s the ideal size of the phone Everything is done qualitatively - there are no creaks The screen is good enough The camera takes pictures Battery - I expected the worst - It’s enough for a day, despite the fact that there were quite a lot of calls + I hope that the battery is pumped GPS catches just in flight. Very pleased.

What did not like

Twice deeply hung, treated by reboot. (Perhaps due to third-party software).

What did you like

Price, assembly (does not creak), characteristics, convenient case, battery charge lasts for a long time, replaceable covers, etc.

What did not like

Speaker broke after 3 months of use. This is a common problem. I'll take it, apparently. It's a pity, the rest of the phone is fine.
Update: three weeks before the end of the warranty, he died with the words "encryption error". Completely, ends. On the one hand, lucky, but on the other, no more Highscreens

What did not like

* The battery is very weak (however, with a Power Bank, this ceases to be a minus, as in my case)
