You come home, turn on your computer or laptop, and while it is loading, make plans: now I’ll turn on the music, sit on the Internet for half an hour, and then watch a new movie. Launch the media player with your favorite tracks and ... find that there is no sound on the computer.

What the heck? Everything was fine yesterday, everything worked! It seems that they did not install anything and did not "chemise" anything, but there is still no sound in the speakers (or headphones).

Unfortunately, this happens quite often. On any computers and laptops. And on any operating system - Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 or XP. Nobody is immune from this.

However, you do not have to blindly search for the cause of the malfunction. After all, below are the most common problems due to which the sound on the PC may disappear. And 10 ways to solve them.

If the sound on your computer does not work, then first of all you need to check the speakers. Perhaps you connected them incorrectly. There are 6 outputs on the back of the PC. You need green (it is he who is intended for speakers / headphones) and pink (if there is a microphone).

You may have confused the outputs.

The front panel of the system unit may also have headphone and microphone jacks. And in some cases they are not color coded. Therefore, try to connect the connectors in a different order.

There are also times when the inputs wear out. In this situation, you need to correct them, i.e. disconnect and reconnect. This can help. At the same time, it will not be superfluous to clean your PC from dust.

Also check if the speakers are on. The fact that they are working is indicated by a small LED.

Check your sound settings

The next thing to do is check your sound settings. Maybe it is disabled or screwed to a minimum.

Let's consider the setting using the example of Windows 7 (in Windows 8 and 10 it is carried out in the same way):

1. Click Start - Control Panel - Hardware and Sound.

2. Select the item "Sound".

3. All audio devices are displayed here. Select a specific device and click "Properties".

4. In the new window, you need to look at 2 things:

  • whether the device is detected - if not, then you need to install the drivers
  • whether it is on - if not, then turn it on (select the appropriate item).

5. In the same window, go to another tab - "Levels". Look at the volume scale - it is recommended to set it at 90-100% (at least for a while, until the sound appears, and then adjust it for yourself).

6. Next, in the same window, go to the next tab - "Additional". When you press the "Test" button, music will play for about 5 seconds. If you do not hear anything, then save the settings and go to the 7th point.

7. Go back to "Hardware and Sounds" and select "Adjust volume".

Here you can see if the sound is screwed down to a minimum.

8. You can also check your audio settings. Click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner (where the time is displayed) and check the volume level.

Sound driver missing

The next step is to check the sound driver on the PC. Quite often, problems arise precisely because of him. Yes, and you could already find this malfunction in the 2nd paragraph (when you looked to see if the audio device was detected in Windows).

To check for the driver, you need to go to "Hardware and Sound" again and select "Device Manager".

In a new window, open the item "Sound devices". If the sound card is connected correctly, it will be listed.

If it is displayed, but a yellow or red sign is lit opposite it, it means that the driver is either not working correctly or is not installed at all. There are two ways to install the driver:

  • from the disk that comes with the PC (you need a disk for the motherboard);
  • from the Internet (if there is no disk or you have a laptop).

If you do not know what kind of sound card you have, you can use the AIDA64 program - it will show not only its model, but also tell you the address from where to download the driver.

If there is a sound card, but Windows for unknown reasons does not see it, then it is difficult to say what the problem is. The device may be poorly connected. Or completely faulty. It can also be related to the hardware of the PC.

Video / audio codecs missing

If there is sound when loading Windows, but there is no sound when you turn on any video file, then the reason lies in the video player, codecs or file (it may be damaged).

In the first case, you can put another video player. For example, today one of the most popular is KMPlayer. Plus it already has built-in codecs for playing video files.

If the problem is with the codecs, then you need to remove them and install new ones. It is recommended to use a set of codecs called K-Lite Codec Pack. It has all the codecs you need and even a built-in video player that can open almost any file.

Incorrect BIOS settings

This kind of problem is extremely rare, as usually the sound card is always on. But if you like to overclock your computer or for other reasons change the settings in the BIOS, then you should check them. And restore sound on the computer (if necessary).

To do this, you need and find the line that contains the word "Integrated".

If everything is in order, then exit the BIOS (if you changed the settings, do not forget to save them).

Virus software and viruses

Another reason is virus software and viruses. Today there are so many of them that it is difficult to even say what "surprises" they can present.

The best option would be to scan your computer or laptop with any antivirus (do not forget to update the databases before that). It could be Kaspersky, Dr. Web, etc. For example, DrWeb CureIt is considered a good option (you do not need to install it).

Restoring sound on a computer

If you still can't hear sound from your PC or laptop, here are some more tips:

  1. If literally yesterday everything was fine, but today the sound disappeared, it is possible that new drivers were installed or some programs that caused this problem. In such cases, you can try.
  2. If there are more speakers, connect them to the PC and reinstall the drivers (remembering to remove the old ones).
  3. If all else fails, you can go for broke and (do not forget to save all important files before this, because they will be deleted). After installation, immediately install the sound drivers. If the sound appears - then watch what software you are installing.
  4. Another option is to connect headphones instead of speakers. Or vice versa.
  5. And the very last option is to contact the service center for help.

However, one of these methods should help. Therefore, if you have lost sound, try different options - it is quite possible that you will be able to solve this problem on your own. In 95% of cases, this problem is solved on their own.

The most common reason for no sound is to mute it or set the volume to minimum. If your computer is not playing audio, hover over the speaker icon in the tray (right corner of the taskbar). A tooltip will indicate the current volume value. If the sound is not played in a separate application, check its settings. If enabled in the settings, audio playback in a specific program may be limited in the mixer. To check, right-click on the speaker icon and select "Open Volume Mixer". There you can turn on the sound and adjust the volume level for each program running on your computer.

Check the volume on the playback devices themselves: headphones or speakers. When using speakers, also make sure that they are connected to the power supply and that the power button is in the active position. Checking your speakers or headphones is pretty easy. To do this, it is enough to connect any other device instead of a computer to the audio output: a smartphone, a player.

Important! Also check your speaker settings. To do this, go to "Playback devices", and in the context menu of speakers or headphones, click "Properties".

Incorrect operation of audio drivers

Another common reason why your computer might not have sound is missing or damaged audio drivers. Hover over the audio icon in the tray to identify this issue. If you see “No Audio Output Device Installed”, the audio drivers are causing the problem.

To eliminate these difficulties, right-click on the same icon and select "Detect problems with sound" from the context menu.

This will open a troubleshooting window. Wait while the sound diagnostics run on your computer. Depending on the speed of the device, the process can take from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. If the determination of the cause of the malfunction stops in one place, click "Cancel".

When the audio diagnostics are complete, the system will prompt you to choose which device you want to troubleshoot. In this case, it is necessary to mark the device used based not on its type, but on the location of the audio input. For example, if your speakers are connected through the audio input on the front of your computer, check the second box, even though headphones are listed there.

If there is a hardware failure, the diagnostic result will be the following window. It may indicate damage to speakers or headphones, but the most common cause of difficulty in audio devices is broken or damaged connecting cables.

At the last step of the sound diagnostics, the result of its execution will be displayed. If the issues are resolved, close the troubleshooter. If the diagnostics did not help, click "View additional options". You can also view help information about the causes of the malfunction by clicking on the link "View more information".

Incorrect connection or installation of the device

Sound may not work due to improper connection or installation of sound devices. To resolve this issue, check if the correct input is selected to connect the device to the computer. Speakers or headphones may be connected to the microphone input and will not work.

Go to "Control Panel -> Device Manager" and check the status in the "Sound, game and video devices" menu. If a yellow mark with an exclamation mark is displayed next to the name, the cause of the problem is an incorrect installation or malfunction of the device.

Note! If the audio hardware does not appear in the manager at all, update the configuration from the Actions menu.

Right-click on the audio hardware and select Properties, then go to the Driver tab in the window that opens. To update the configuration, click the Update button. Here you can uninstall the driver for its subsequent reinstallation.

In the next step, choose where you want to search for sound drivers. Two options are offered: an automatic search, which includes searching your computer and the Internet, and a simple search for drivers. We recommend that you select the first option to detect drivers.

Important! If the sound card is outdated and its driver is on a separate disk, first copy it to your computer.

The scan will take about 20-30 seconds, after which a message will be displayed in the search window about the successful installation of the new audio drivers. If the device already has the latest available driver installed, the configuration will not be updated.

If the driver update did not bring the desired result and the device still does not work, it is recommended to remove it from the system. To do this, right-click on the name and select "Delete". Confirm the deletion in the dialog box by clicking "OK".

After that, in the "Action" menu, you need to update the list of equipment. A search will be performed for devices connected to the computer. If the desired device does not appear after searching, restart the manager.

When the speakers are found, installation starts automatically. This process can take several minutes. When finished, a message will appear stating that the speakers are successfully connected and ready to use.

Damaged connecting cables

Standard 3.5 mm connectors may fail as a result of mechanical damage. Usually breakage occurs at the base of the connector - at the point where it connects to the audio cable. The break can also be on the cord itself. The cause of damage is most often pinching by furniture (table legs, chair wheels). Pets can also chew on the cable. You can diagnose a breakdown visually or by connecting another cable to the speakers.

Physical breakdown of audio equipment

Even if the speakers or headphones you are using fail, you may not hear sound from your computer. It is not difficult to determine this - it is enough to connect another audio device to the same audio input. If it works, the reason is the broken speakers and not the computer settings.

Disabled Windows Audio Service

Another common reason for no sound is the disabling of the Windows Audio service. This background process is responsible for processing sound data and is always running on a running computer by default. However, when making changes in the system parameters, incorrect Windows Audio settings may be indicated. Also, the service can be disabled by malware.

Hello everyone! Modern computer user (unless of course you are an office worker) it's hard to imagine without music. The lack of sound on the computer saddens enough, because even this note I am writing with a calm track in the background (otherwise blog posts would be dull and uninteresting)... So, I want to tell you about my experience and answer the question - why is there no sound on the computer?

With the move to Windows 10 and the arrival of HDMI (where video and sound go over the same cable and your video card has an audio chip) problems became even more ... this is especially true if your computer is not the first freshness, although it coped well with the tasks on Windows 7.

The first thing to do if there is no sound on the computer is to check the cables and make sure that the speakers (or headphones) included. Quite often, a banal reconnection of speakers helps - if you have already tried all this and the problem behind the sound has not been solved, then you can start reading the note.

Check your driver and your sound card

If you connected the speakers to the computer, and there is no sound ... then you have to go to the device manager and see if everything is fine with the hardware and whether we have installed sound drivers. Getting into Device Manager isn't difficult - open the Start menu, type Device Manager and press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Device Manager will open. Expand the Sound, Game and Video Devices tab. Find in the list (if there are several) your audio device and double-click on it to open its properties. Check the system message, the driver must be installed and the device is working properly.

Try to update the driver - this is done in the "Driver" tab. A simple reinstallation of the device often helps ... to do this, right-click on your audio device and click uninstall (but do not remove the driver itself - the system will ask you about it)... After that, click the "Update hardware configuration" button at the top. This will reinstall the existing device driver.

Don't be surprised if you find you have multiple audio devices - this is normal. Almost all modern computers or laptops have an HDMI video output that can transmit sound and video over one cable

Choosing the correct default audio device

Open Control Panel and open the Hardware and Sound category. Select "Sound". (why can't I click on the icon next to the clock? - It's simple, in Windows 10 Spring Creator Updates the interface has changed slightly and I will describe it below)

Here we are interested in the "Playback" tab and the list of devices. Let's take an example - I have a laptop connected to an external monitor via HDMI. The monitor has its own built-in speakers ... so you just need to tell Windows which device to use for audio playback.

In the example below, as indicated by the green flag, we see that the sound is played through the monitor (except that the speakers on the monitor are turned down to zero! Therefore, there is no sound on the computer)... You just need to select standard speakers and sound problems will disappear

It is quite possible that after choosing a different default audio device, you need to restart the programs, or better in general, restart your computer for the new settings to take effect.

On Windows 10 v1803 continue to nag Windows 10 design in a new style and in the new version affected these changes in sound settings. In general, there is nothing complicated - right-click on the "Speakers" icon next to the clock and select "Open Sound Options"

Everything is the same here, just select the output (playback) device from the list and enjoy the sound on the computer.

Several audio devices will be active if you connected the TV to a laptop or computer via HDMI ... perhaps you are using Bluetooth speakers and much more ...

Disable sound enhancements

In the control panel (in the same place where the default sound devices were selected on the "Playback" tab) right click on "Default Playback Device" and open its "Properties". On the Enhancements tab, select Disable All Sound Enhancements and check if the sound is working.

If these manipulations helped - this is good news, disable sound effects for all your audio devices.

Check speaker or headphone connections

Almost all modern computers are equipped with at least three connectors, which necessarily include:

  1. Microphone jack
  2. Line-in
  3. Line out

(the exceptions are laptops, quite often they are combined and have only one dual-purpose connector - a microphone and a line-out)... Make sure your speakers are connected to line out (it is usually colored green).

Maybe the advice is so-so, but you can try connecting to all connectors in order to determine the one you need by typing

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that when you connect headphones to the front panel of the case of the system unit, the speakers will turn off - do not forget this nuance.

Misunderstandings with sound or dealing with HDMI

This problem certainly deserves a separate note, but I will try to tell it in the context of our problem. If you connected a TV via HDMI and are faced with the lack of sound on it, you need to delve a little into history.

If your computer and TV are completely new, then most likely your default playback device is incorrectly selected, you can read above how to change it.

If your computer is no longer young, then it is quite possible that although there is an HDMI connector on your video card, it cannot transmit sound through this cable. In this case, either change the video card, or connect the sound to the TV with a separate cable (if possible).

In Control Panel, open the properties of your default playback device and go to the Advanced tab. In the "Default Format" section, check each of the available ones in turn.

If it helps - save the settings and enjoy the sound on your computer. However, as practice has shown, this method rarely helps.

If you are already desperate and have tried all possible options, then starting with Windows 8 there is an opportunity to automatically try to fix the problem with no sound on the computer. Click on the speaker image in the taskbar and select "Troubleshoot sound problems"

Next, you need to select your playback device and follow the prompts ... if you look closely at the points, you can see that the system itself tries all the above methods and, if possible, combines them. Surprisingly, this method often helps, especially in cases where you have chosen the wrong device for sound output in the system.

Outcomes

Well friends, in this guide I have described the most common problems with no sound on the computer. In fact, there are much more reasons why there is no sound on a computer or laptop, but it is better to consider them privately. If these methods did not help you in any way, then please describe your problem in as much detail as possible in the comments - I will definitely answer and try to help you.

The sound system of the computer is closely related to the drivers. Therefore, if you start having any problems with sound reproduction, then you should not panic right away - it is quite possible that an ordinary user can also fix the error. Today we will look at several different situations where the sound on the computer is missing.

There are many reasons why sound can disappear on your PC. As a rule, this is either a hardware problem or a conflict between drivers and other programs. In this article, we will analyze what the problem may be and will try to restore the sound.

Reason 1: Disabled speakers

First of all, check that the speakers are actually connected to the computer. It often happens when the user simply forgot to connect them with a cord or did it wrong.

Attention!
There are completely different types of connectors on a sound card. But you need to find the output covered in green and connect the device through it.

It is also worth making sure that the switch on the speakers themselves is in the working position and the volume control is not turned fully counterclockwise. If you are sure that the device is still connected and working, then proceed to the next item.

Reason 2: The sound is muted

One of the most common reasons for the lack of sound is to reduce it to a minimum in the system or on the device itself. Therefore, first of all, turn the volume control on the speakers clockwise, and also click on the speaker icon in the tray to change the volume.

Reason 3: Missing drivers

Another common reason for the lack of sound on the device is incorrectly selected drivers or even their absence. In this case, the system cannot normally interact with the audio subsystem and problems arise, the result of which we are trying to fix.

You can check if there are drivers for sound equipment in "Device Manager"... Open it in any known way (for example, through "System properties", which can be opened by right-clicking on the shortcut "My computer") and make sure that in the tabs "Audio Inputs and Audio Outputs", and "Sound, game and video devices" no unidentified devices. If there are any, it means that the necessary software is missing.

You can select drivers manually on the official website of the laptop or speaker manufacturer and this will be the most reliable way to find the right software. You can also use special universal programs or find the software using the speaker ID. Below we have left a few links where it is described how to do this:

Reason 4: The wrong playback device is selected

Another common problem that can occur if third-party audio playback devices are or have been connected to the computer is that the computer simply tries to play sound through another, possibly disconnected device. To fix this, follow the instructions below:

By the way, for this reason, a situation may arise when headphones are connected to the computer, but the sound is still broadcast through the main speakers. Therefore, do not forget to check which playback device is selected as the main one. You can read about other reasons why headphones may not work in the following article:

Reason 5: There are no audio codecs

If you hear a sound when Windows starts, but it is not there when playing a video or audio recording, then most likely the problem lies in the absence of codecs (or the problem is in the player itself). In this case, you need to install special software (as well as remove the old one, if any). We recommend installing the most popular and proven set of codecs - which will allow you to play video and audio of any format, as well as install a fast and convenient player.

Reason 6: Incorrect BIOS setup

There is a chance that you have a sound device disabled in your BIOS. To check this, you need to go to BIOS. The entrance to the required menu on each laptop and computer is carried out in different ways, but most often it is a keystroke F2 or Delete while the device is booting. On our site you will find a whole section dedicated to ways to log into BIOS from various laptops.

When you get into the settings you want, look for a parameter that can contain words Sound, Audio, HDA and others related to sound. Depending on the BIOS version, it may be in the sections "Advanced" or Integrated Peripherals... Opposite the found item, you must set the values "Enabled"(Included) or "Auto"(Automatically). Thus, you will connect the speakers in the BIOS and, most likely, you will be able to listen to audio files again.

Reason 7: Speaker malfunction

One of the worst case scenarios is damage to the playback device. Try connecting the speakers to another PC to see if they are working properly. If the sound does not appear, try changing the cord with which you connected them. If you still do not hear anything, then we cannot help you with anything and we recommend that you contact the service center. By the way, only specialists can check the laptop speakers.

Reason 8: Damaged driver

Also, the sound may be lost as a result of damage to the audio driver. This can happen after installing or uninstalling a program, updating Windows, or as a result of a virus attack. In this case, you need to remove the old software and install the new one.

To uninstall broken software, go to "Device Manager" with help Win + X menu and remove your audio equipment from the list by right-clicking on it and selecting the appropriate line in the context menu. When uninstalling, Windows will prompt the user to erase and secure this device.

Now you just have to install the new software as described in the third paragraph of this article.

Reason 9: Viral infection

You can consider the option that your PC has undergone some kind of virus attack, as a result of which the sound drivers were damaged. In this case, it is necessary to scan the computer for virus software as soon as possible and delete all suspicious files. This can be done using any antivirus. On our site there is a whole section in which you can find reviews of the most popular products for preventing device infection, as well as cleaning it. Just follow the link below.

Good day.

This article, based on personal experience, is a kind of collection of reasons due to which sound may disappear on a computer. Most of the reasons, by the way, can be easily eliminated by yourself! To begin with, you should distinguish that the sound can be lost for software and hardware reasons. For example, you can check the performance of the speakers on another computer or audio / video equipment. If they are working and there is sound, then most likely questions are about the software part of the computer (but more on this).

And so, let's get started ...

6 reasons why there is no sound

1. Non-working speakers (cords often bend and break)

This is the first thing to do when setting up sound and speakers on your computer! And then, sometimes, do you know, there are such incidents: you come to help a person to solve the issue with the sound, and he turns out to have forgotten about the wires ...

Plus, you may have connected them to the wrong input. The fact is that the sound card of a computer has several outputs: for a microphone, for speakers (headphones). Typically, for the microphone, the output is covered in pink, for the speakers - in green. Pay attention to this! Also, here is a small article about, there this issue was analyzed in more detail.

Rice. 1. Cord for connecting speakers.

Sometimes it happens that the inputs are very worn out, and they just need to be slightly corrected: remove and reinsert. You can also clean your computer from dust, at the same time.
Also pay attention to whether the columns themselves are included. On the front of many devices, you can see a small LED that signals that the speakers are connected to the computer.

Rice. 2. These speakers are on because the green LED on the device is on.

By the way, if you turn the volume up to maximum in the speakers, you can hear a characteristic “hiss”. Pay attention to all this. Despite the elementary nature, in most cases there are problems with just this ...

2. The sound is turned off in the settings

The second thing to do is to check if everything is in order with the computer settings, perhaps in Windows the sound is programmatically reduced to a minimum or disabled in the control panel for sound devices. Perhaps, if it is simply reduced to a minimum, there is sound - it plays very weakly and is simply not audible.

Let's show the setting using the example of Windows 10 (in Windows 7, 8 everything will be the same).

1) Open control Panel, then go to the section " equipment and sounds«.

3) You should display audio devices (including speakers, headphones) connected to the computer in the "sound" tab. Select the required dynamics and click on their properties (see Fig. 4).

4) In the first tab that opens in front of you ("general"), you need to look carefully at two things:

  • - was the device detected? If not, you need drivers for it. If they are not there, use one of the utilities for, the utility will also recommend where to download the required driver;
  • - look at the bottom of the window to see if the device is turned on. If not, be sure to turn it on.

5) Without closing the window, go to the "levels" tab. Look at the volume level, it should be over 80-90%. At least until you get a sound, and then adjust it (see Fig. 6).

Rice. 6. Volume levels

6) In the "additional" tab there is a special button for checking the sound - when you press it, you should play a short melody (5-6 sec.). If you do not hear it, go to the next step, saving the settings.

Rice. 7. Sound check

7) You can, by the way, once again go to " control panel / hardware and sounds"And open" volume settings", As shown in fig. eight.

Here we are interested in whether the sound is reduced to a minimum. By the way, in this tab you can turn down the sound, even of a certain type, for example, all that is heard in the Firefox browser.

8) And the last.

In the lower right corner (next to the clock) there are also volume settings. Check if there is a normal volume level and if the speaker is not muted, as in the picture below. If all is well, you can skip to step 3.

Rice. 10. Adjusting the volume on the computer.

Important! In addition to the Windows settings, be sure to pay attention to the volume of the speakers themselves. Perhaps the regulator is at a minimum!

3. No driver for sound card

Most often, the computer has problems with the drivers for video and sound cards ... That is why, the third step in restoring sound is to check the drivers. You may have already identified this problem in the previous step ...

To determine if they are okay, go to device Manager... To do this, open control Panel, then open the tab “ Hardware and Sound"And then run device Manager... This is the fastest way (see Figure 11).

In the device manager, we are interested in the " Sound, game and video devices". If you have a sound card and it is connected: it should be displayed here.

1) If the device is displayed and a yellow exclamation mark (or red) is lit in front of it, then the driver is not working correctly, or is not installed at all. In this case, you need to download the driver version you need. By the way, I like to use the program - it will show not only the device model of your card, but also tell you where to download the necessary drivers for it.

A great way to update and check your drivers is to use the auto-update and driver lookup utilities for any hardware on your PC:. Highly recommend!

2) If there is a sound card, but Windows does not see it ... Anything can be here. It is possible that the device is not working properly, or you connected it poorly. I recommend first cleaning the computer from dust, blowing out the slot if you do not have a built-in sound card. In general, in this case, the problem is most likely with the hardware of the computer (or the fact that the device is turned off in BIOS, see about Bose just below in the article).

Rice. 12. Device Manager

It also makes sense to update your drivers or install drivers of a different version: older or newer. It often happens that developers are not able to foresee all possible computer configurations and it is possible that some drivers in your system conflict with each other.

4. No codecs on audio / video

If, when you turn on the computer, you have sound (for example, you can hear the Windows greeting), and when you turn on any video (AVI, MP4, Divx, WMV, etc.), there is a problem either in the video player, or in the codecs, or in the file itself (it may be corrupted, try opening another video file).

1) If there is a problem with the video player, I recommend that you install another one and try it. For example, a turntable - gives excellent results. It already has built-in and optimized codecs for it, so it can open most video files.

2) If the problem is with the codecs, I would advise you to do two things. The first is to completely remove your old codecs from the system.

And second, install the full set of codecs - K-Lite Codec Pack. Firstly, this package has an excellent and fast Media Player, secondly, all the most popular codecs will be installed, which open all the most popular video and audio formats.

An article about K-Lite Codec Pack codecs and their correct installation:

By the way, it is important not only to install them, but to install them correctly, i.e. full set. To do this, download the full set and during installation select the "Lots of Stuff" mode (for more details on this in the article about codecs - the link is just above).

Rice. 13. Configuring codecs

5. Incorrectly configured BIOS

If you have a built-in sound card, check the BIOS settings. If the sound device is turned off in the settings, then you are unlikely to be able to make it work in Windows. To be honest, this problem is usually rare. by default in the BIOS settings - the sound card is enabled.

To access these settings, press the F2 or Del button (depending on the PC) while turning on the computer. If you cannot get in, try looking at the computer boot screen as soon as you turn it on, more closely. Usually a button for entering BIOS is always written on it.

For example, the ACER computer is turned on - the DEL button is written at the bottom - to enter the BIOS (see Fig. 14).

Rice. 14. Bios login button

In BIOS, you need to search for a line containing the word " Integrated«.

Rice. 15. Integrated Peripherals

In the list, you need to find your audio device and see if it is turned on. In Figure 16 (below) it is enabled, if you have “Disabled” opposite you - change it to “Enabled” or “Auto“.

Rice. 16. Enabling AC97 Audio

After that, you can exit BIOS by saving the settings.

6. Viruses and adware

Where are we without viruses ... Moreover, there are so many of them that it is not known what they can generally present.

First, pay attention to the overall performance of your computer. If there are frequent, antivirus triggers, "brakes" out of the blue. You may have actually contracted a virus, and more than one.

The best option would be to check your computer for viruses with some modern antivirus with updated databases. In one of the articles earlier, I cited the best ones at the beginning of 2016:

By the way, the antivirus shows good results, it is not even necessary to install it. Just download and check.

Secondly, I recommend checking your computer using a USB flash drive (the so-called Live CD). Whoever has never come across, I will say: you seem to boot from a CD (flash drive) a ready-made operating system, which has an antivirus. By the way, it is possible that you will have a sound in it. If so, then most likely you have problems with Windows and you may have to ...
