There are three main types of rods: float, fly fishing and spinning. All of them have their own structural and attachment features. Athletes use a special tackle that is not suitable for an ordinary fisherman: plug rods.

About float rods

Float rods are the simplest type of tackle. It is not difficult to make it yourself from improvised means. To do this, you will need the following elements: a rod, a fishing line, a float, a sinker, a hook, a leash. When choosing a tackle of this type, you must first of all pay attention to the length of the rod and its structure. It can be made of several prefabricated or retractable parts, as well as be monolithic.

Prefabricated fishing rods are called plug-in, retractable ones - telescopic. Any of them can be equipped with guides that help keep the line in the right position. Floats can have different shapes: pear-shaped, conical, cylindrical. All of them have peculiarities of behavior when biting. An important float rod is a test, that is, the maximum weight of baits and rigs that it can withstand.

About fly fishing rods

This one is used to catch fish that feed on insects that have fallen to the surface of the water. The fly rod does not require a sinker and a float. For successful fishing, it is enough to put an artificial bait in the shape of an insect on the hook.

There are two types of fly rod rigs for casting such a light lure: deaf and running. They differ only in the presence or absence of a coil. It is not required for a blind fly rod. The type of her rod is distinguished by its length (up to 5 m) and flexibility. At the end of the line, which should be much longer than the rod itself, an undergrowth and a hook with bait are attached.

A fly fishing rod with a running type is much more convenient to use. Her rod, as a rule, is 2-3-knee, you need a reel, line, undergrowth, a leash and a hook. The fly is traditionally used as a bait. This type of rod allows casting to a distance of up to 30 m.

About spinning rods

Spinning rods are the most popular rods. Their device differs in many respects from float and fly fishing. For spinning, a reel, fishing line and leash, bait or other artificial bait are required, at the end of which a hook is attached. For ease of coverage, all spinning rods are equipped with a handle 30-70 cm long, made of a material with an anti-slip surface: plastic, cork, wood. In order to make it easier to hold the spinning rod when playing, you need to choose the one that has a buffer at the end of the handle.

The huge number of different types of float rods in specialized fishing shops very often confuses a beginner. From this article you will learn all the nuances that you should pay special attention to when choosing a float rod. Such rods are often called by anglers ...

The huge number of different types of float rods in specialized fishing shops very often confuses a beginner. In this article, you will learn how to choose a float rod... Such rods are often referred to by anglers as "fly rods". They take their name "fly rod" from the way they throw the tackle, this is done with the help of the stroke of the rod.

Initially, we need to decide how long the rod you want to buy. The length of the swing rod varies from 1 to 13 meters. There are three types of fly rods:

    • 1.) Short;
    • 2.) Long;
  • 3.) Average.

According to the types of knee joints, fly rods are telescopic and plug-in.

pole rod telescopic rod

All without exception fly rods can be divided into steeple, standard and powerful (mainly used for carp fishing).

They take their name "uleechnye" from sport fishing. At competitions, such rods are used to catch, as the name tells us, bleak. But with such rods it is quite comfortable to catch other not too large types of fish. The length of these rods varies from 1 to 4 m. They are very light and graceful rods. They are also very thin, but the handle (about 30cm) is thickened. This is done for ease of use. Lead fishing rods can be both telescopic (very small) and plug-in.

Standard rods.

Perhaps these are some of the most common rods. Their length can be up to 13 meters. These rods are much more powerful than the ugly rods. Such rods are used for fishing small and medium fish. As a rule, their tip is very thin, about 0.6-1.0 mm. Initially, it may seem that it is not able to withstand more or less decent fish. But this is absolutely not the case. Thanks to the action and flexibility, such a rod is able to fish out a fish weighing about 5 kg without any problems.

Powerful carp rods.

Such rods are very rarely used in our country. These rods come in a variety of lengths. But most often from 7-8 to 12-14 meters. They are quite heavy and catch them using special racks.

Fly rod structure.

The action of a fly rod is very different from a spinning rod. While in spinning rods each action has its own advantages and disadvantages, in fly rods this is not at all the case.

For a fly rod, a rigid action will be most preferred, with only a pair of upper knees flexing (working). This is due to the fact that, when striking a fish when biting, the reaction speed is very important to us, and the power at the same time should be minimal. In the case when the action of the rod is soft, the striking will be delayed due to the fact that the rod will first bend, but when the rod is returned, the striking will be too strong. Also, when casting a rod with a soft action, it will be difficult to stop a long soft whip near the water. As a rule, he will flop in the water. And since the rig is light, the swing is made stronger than with the heavy one and, accordingly, we can hit on the water, Mom, don't worry. Rigid action rods will allow us to safely make a strong swing and stop the rod near the water without any problems.

Rod weight.

The weight of the rod is one of the important characteristics, which largely depends on the material from which the rod was made, as well as on the power of the rod. According to the material from which the rod was made, as mentioned above, they can be divided into three groups.

Fiberglass rods... These rods are probably the heaviest rods in existence and have a soft action. They, of course, can be used, but up to a length of 5-6 meters. If the rod is longer, it will already look like a perversion. And I would not advise you to buy such a miracle of the wooden age.

Composite rods... They are, as it were, transitional rods from fiberglass to carbon, both in terms of the price that they ask for, and in terms of quality. These rods are already lighter. You can try taking a fiberglass rod and a composite rod in the store and estimate the difference in weight, I think it will be significant. It is quite possible to use such fishing rods. But, just like fiberglass, I would not recommend buying more than 7 meters. The quality of composite rods is highly dependent on their carbon fiber content. The larger it is, the harder and lighter the rod will be (measured in% content). This begs the question: how do you know how much of this very carbon fiber is contained in the rod? I answer. No way to find out! Rod manufacturers do not list the carbon content on their products (at least I have never seen it before). For this reason, you should choose them by holding such a rod in your hands, weighing and evaluating the action. Remember when we used a fiberglass rod and a composite rod to understand the weight difference? Now, if a composite rod seems to you heavier or equal in weight to fiberglass, throw it at the seller and ask for the following :). For this should not be.

Coal rods- here it is, what we need :). These are the lightest rods I have ever come across and yet they are quite stiff. But beware, counterfeits are common. Very often on rods there are inscriptions "carbon" or "technology" and the image of an electric wire or a lightning bolt, but this may turn out to be a fake. How to find out if it is a fake or not? By analogy with a fiberglass and composite rod, you can take a coal one and compare it with a composite rod by weight. The difference should be obvious. It will be even safer to find a rod in any catalog or on the Internet where the material from which the rod is made and its weight will be indicated.

Rod top knee.

(note how thin the whip is)

The class of the rod can also be monitored by its tip. If, of course, do not take into account the extreme options, then the thinner the tip is, the higher the rod class will be, respectively.

The tips are either hollow or monolithic or combined. The diameter of the hollow tip at its thinnest part of a decent rod usually does not exceed 1.3-1.4 mm. The monolithic tip will be even thinner, and its diameter can be 0.5-0.9 mm thick. The most commonly available commercially available rods are with a combined tip. If in the store you stumbled upon a rod whose tip is much larger than the numbers indicated above, then this is either a carp rod or not a high-quality tackle (we don't even look at it). It is very easy to distinguish a carp rod from a regular one. The carp rod will be very powerful and stiff.

Before buying a rod.

What to look for before buying a telescopic or plug-in float rod? Here are a few points that will answer this question:

    • 1.) Initially, assemble the fishing rod. Wiggle it from side to side and do it a couple of swings (if space permits, if not, then you need to find it). At the same time, you should not hear any extraneous sounds: creaks, knocks, crackles, clicks. After that, you can start examining the joints of the knees, check their strength and fastening.
    • 2.) Examine the rings. All of them should sit tightly and the sleeve should not rotate in any way, there should be no cracks or delamination in the resin and varnish. Special attention should be paid to the "tulip". He simply has to sit tight and not scroll. The guides should be on all legs, and should be placed as often as possible and preferably higher from the rod so that the wet line does not stick to the rod.
    • 3.) Next, we check the tip of the rod for elasticity: it should inspire confidence and should not be sluggish in order for us to succeed in the hook.
    • 4.) We inspect the place where the reel is attached; it should be installed in such a way that the rod is not outweighed forward.
    • 5.) Now we disassemble the rod and take the whip in hand. We ask the comrade whom we took with us to take between the last ring and the "tulip", and we ourselves take at the base (we did not take a comrade, we ask the seller). Bend the whip slightly and twist it. It should rotate evenly, there should be no stiffeners along the way of rotation.
    • 6.) If you are new to fishing and cannot determine on your own whether the rod is worth the money that is asked for it, take a look at the package. The lowest class fishing rods are packed in polyethylene. The middle class has a cloth cover, the high one will already be in a velvet cover, but the elite one is usually packed in a plastic tube. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. But there are very few of them and they can be completely neglected. If you bought a rod without a tube, then you can easily make it yourself, how to do it is written in this article.
  • 7.) Ask your dealer if there is a rod warranty. The point is not that the rod can break, but that a good product will come with a guarantee anyway. For elite rods, the warranty can even be unlimited.

ADVICE:

For a beginner fisherman, a fiberglass or composite rod (preferably the second) with a length of about 5 meters is quite enough. Better if it is telescopic with a bar for attaching the reel and line guides. Such a rod is very convenient for transportation and is capable of providing a sufficient casting distance, but it will be more weight than a plug rod.

Finally, we suggest watching a short video about how to choose a float rod.

P.S. That's all. I hope this article will somehow help beginners to choose their first fishing rod correctly.

Fishing for beginners is a kind of sacrament to which they wholeheartedly strive to join. But not all beginners become avid anglers. The fact is that most novice fishermen simply do not know what kind of fishing rods there are and in what conditions. use each type of tackle... They do not know how to use the simplest fishing equipment. As a result, the first attempts at catching fish become unsuccessful for them, and they abandon this activity.

Fishing method

There is nothing difficult in choosing a fishing tackle. You just need to learn a little theory in order to successfully apply the knowledge gained in practice. This article will help beginners understand the types of fishing rods and find the best one. In addition, helpful tips for a novice angler will be given. many ways to fish... Each method has its own tackle. A beginner doesn't need to know all of them. It is better for him to begin with learning to fish with the help of fishing rods.

There are 4 main types of gear:

  • Float.
  • Fly fishing.
  • Spinning.
  • Donnaya.

The choice of this or that type of tackle depends on the conditions in which the fisherman will fish and on the type of the latter.

Spinning

This the method of fishing is considered the most exciting... It provides a decent catch. The main difficulty is learning how to work with spinning. It takes a lot of time to become a master. For most people, it takes an average of at least one season to master the intricacies of spinning fishing. However, the time will be well spent. As soon as the fisherman masters all the tactics and special techniques of spinning fishing, he will no longer have problems with catching.

Spinning shows itself best on deep rivers. This means that the best time for fishing is spring or autumn.

The disadvantages of this type of fishing rod include:

  • Sophisticated rod design.
  • The need to master a special technique.
  • The fisherman is forced to constantly move along the shore of the reservoir.

The spinning rod has its own advantages:

  • The rod is very durable.
  • The line is stored on a reel and does not get tangled.
  • Allows you to quickly get a good catch.
  • Good for catching predatory fish.

Fly fishing

The fly fishing rod has a rather unusual device. She has special compound rod equipped with guide rings. Unlike a spinning rod, the rod is equipped with an inertial reel, on which not a fishing line is wound, but a special cord. The fly is attached to the latter - a special type of bait. Other types of lures can be used in fly fishing.

Fly fishing considered the lot of professionals, because learning to throw a front sight in a strictly defined place is not easy at all. In addition, you need to accurately feel the moment of the bite by the tension of the cord.

The main advantage of fly fishing is the ability to catch any kind of fish.

Today for such a catch feeder gear is used... They differ from traditional bottom fishing rods by the presence of a sensitive tip that reacts sharply to jerks of the bait. In order not to miss these jerks, bells are often tied to the tip.

The feeder is equipped with a special feeder, which lures the fish closer to the hook. The fish cannot get to the contents of the feeder, so it bites on the bait attached to the hook.

Feeder rods are very powerful. This makes it easy to throw the feeder at least 100 meters from the shore.

Bottom gear is best used for catching shy fish that live at depths.

The main advantage of feeder fishing is the ability to sit comfortably on the shore and wait for a bite.

The main disadvantage of such fishing is high cost of equipment.

The overwhelming majority of fishermen prefer float gear. Why? Because this is the easiest and most affordable way to fish. A fisherman with a fishing rod stands on the shore and watches the float on the water. When the latter begins to jerkily submerge under water or move on the surface of the water, then the fisherman jerks off the prey and pushes it to the shore.

There are no unnecessary parts in float rods that can cause inconvenience. The equipment for such rods is as simple as possible and is quite inexpensive. Fishing technique using float rods is elementary and mastered in a very short time. This is a good choice for a beginner.

These rods have the following advantages:

  • Low cost.
  • Simplicity of design.
  • Elementary fishing technique.
  • The ability to fish in any body of water.
  • Ease of learning.
  • The ability to catch not only white, but also predatory fish.

Actually, these positive characteristics allowed float rods to gain popularity among fishermen. The vast majority of anglers consider float fishing to be universal.

All types of rods described are mainly used for summer fishing.

Types of float rods

Modern float rods allow you to fish in any body of water. The variety of rigs and accessories available has led many anglers to refuse to use other types of fishing rods. They are only interested in float analogs.

At first glance, some types of fishing with a float rod are difficult to master. This is an illusion. In fact, it takes no more than one day to master any method of float fishing, so it is well suited for beginners.

Float gear can be both universal and narrowly focused. In total, there are four categories of equipment:

  • Coastal.
  • With a strong current.
  • For long distance casting.
  • Universal.

In some cases, you will have to use specific rods that are best suited to a specific body of water.

As a rule, coastal gear is used on small bodies of water where long-distance casts are not needed. A good choice here is the swing rod. Without exception, all fishermen began their journey with her.

Fly rods used by fishermen since antiquity... They are very simple in design. They have no lead rings. These are versatile rods that you can make yourself.

Modern technology has made swing rods as lightweight and extremely durable as possible. Thanks to this, fishermen can easily fish out even large fish.

Fly rods from the store are always retractable. They usually have three to six knees. The total length of the unfolded rod can reach 8 meters. But more often than not, fishermen only need 5 meters long rods. This swing rod can be easily held with one hand all day long without getting too tired.

Pros of flywheel tackle:

  • Easy to change float equipment.
  • Ease of transportation.
  • Ease of use.

The only drawback is the limitation of the fishing depth.

If a fisherman has to fish in reservoirs with a strong current or in an overgrown reservoir, then it is better for him to choose a plug rod. At the first acquaintance with such a tackle, beginners frown with displeasure. Not surprising, since the plug-in rod looks ridiculous. But it has many important useful features:

  1. The flow of water always carries with it debris and algae. They can pull the line with them. The plug-in tackle holds the line above the water, so debris doesn't catch on it.
  2. The plug rod allows you to cast under trees.
  3. Such a tackle provides a very high casting accuracy.

The plug-in tackle has 2 disadvantages:

  1. Limited rod length.
  2. The need to purchase a large number of additional accessories.

Long casting

For long-range fishing, a match rod is best suited. Her rod consists of several knees. A special reel is attached to it, on which a special fishing line is wound. There is only a simple hook.

There are a lot of guides on the rod, which prevent the line from sticking. The reel has an increased gear ratio, and the line is weighted, so it sinks quickly.

It is easily recognizable by its telescopic rod and reel holder. There is one pass ring on each knee of the rod.

Such rods are called universal due to the fact that, if necessary, they allow you to fish with long casting or near the shore. Thanks to the swivel, there is no need to constantly change the rig. It is enough to change the leashes with hooks.

This rig is a good choice for a beginner.

Tips for a novice fisherman on choosing a fishing rod, taking into account the price

At the end of the article, we will give some tips for choosing gear, taking into account their price.

  • The most budgetary float rods cost no more than 500 rubles. As a rule, their rods are devoid of any aesthetics and are not of good quality. However, for such a cost, they can be changed even before each fishing trip. These rods are a good choice for coastal fishing.
  • Remember, the longer the rod, the higher the cost. If you plan to fish with long casts, then you need a good fishing rod costing more than 1,000 rubles. The most expensive float rods can cost 10,000 rubles.
  • Prices for universal fishing rods start at 800 rubles per model from domestic manufacturers. Good Bolognese rods from Italy will cost from 2,000 to 10,000 rubles.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the unique branded fishing rods of foreign production. Their prices can reach 100,000 rubles.

Do you remember the fishing tackle that first fell into your hands? For some reason, I am sure that it was a float rod, perhaps even a homemade one, that became the reason for your addiction to fishing.

Someone eventually changed the float to a spinning rod or other tackle, but for many, an ordinary float remained the main companion of fishing trips.

This predilection can be explained by the ease of use and ease of manufacture, even in the field, in the absence of a factory rod.

True, this can only be stated in relation to the original swing rod and its prototype. Since there are types of float rods, which cannot be mastered on the fly. Special rods and additional accessories are used. This often deprives the angler of mobility, forcing them to avoid cramped conditions. However, it also allows you to catch with a float almost the entire species composition of fish in the selected reservoir. And "peaceful" representatives (crucian carp, bream, dace, path), as well as predators - pike with perch.

This is due to the characteristics of the rods themselves and the use of hinged elements of the tackle - fishing reels. The latter allow you to cast at a fairly decent distance, up to 50 - 60 meters.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. We will sequentially consider all types of summer float rods, where and what kind of rod is used.

Types of float rods for summer fishing

Float rods are divided into 4 types according to the characteristics of rods and equipment:

  • Makhovaya.
  • Plug-in.
  • Bologna.
  • Match.

In turn, the listed types of gear, according to the method of equipping with fishing line, are divided into:

  • With end fastening when the line is connected to the rod directly or through a special fastener at the end of the rod.
  • For long distance casting... In this embodiment, the stock of working line is wound on a spool or reel drum.

Float rods with line end attachment

Fishing rods with end, or "blind", attachment of the main line include two types of rods - fly and plug. The lures are delivered to the point of fishing by a pendulum movement, or by direct feed due to a rod that is extended forward.

The main advantages of the tackle:

  • Accuracy in feeding the bait.
  • High rate of fishing.
  • Easy to learn.

The distance to the point of fishing is limited by the length of the fishing line. This can be considered a disadvantage, however, coastal fishing at short distances with playing often not frail trophies is quite comfortable.

Fly fishing rod

The prototype of the modern swing is an old, but completely unforgotten, construction - a rod carved on the shore with a tied piece of fishing line, a float, a sinker and a hook. Or a classic bamboo rod.

Now everything is different. Fishing tackle manufacturers manufacture fly rods from modern materials. And the lengths have increased markedly. On sale you can see fishing rods from the minimum size of 2 meters to rangefinders over 10. Fishing with such giants requires certain skills from the angler. However, the length of the blank is the main "trick". Fishing rods are made of modern, durable and lightweight materials. Therefore, a 12-meter stick is held with one hand and no inconvenience is experienced.

Children usually indulge in short fishing rods, catching small spruce trees, perches, roach under the shore.

The popular standards have become universal "fives" and "sevens", which can be used to fish without any problems in almost all conditions. Both in stagnant water and in the current.

For the longest, up to 12 meters, they fish from the shore in large reservoirs and, as a rule, larger fish become prey. For example, bream.

Usually fly rods are a telescopic prefabricated rod. They consist of several knees, which are brought into working position by extending one of the other. Like a telescope or spotting scope. Plug-type fly rods are less common.

The fishing line is applied thin. In the classic version - 0.1 - 0.20.

Depending on the length of the rod, the carrying capacity of the float ranges from half a gram to ten. With the maximum weight, they fish in the current and at great depths.

Hooks are selected depending on the bait or bait, as well as on the size of the intended prey.

Plug

Seeing a person in a photo fishing with a pole rod is one thing. When I had to contemplate fishing in "nature", the surprise at the work of the fisherman persisted for a long time. A bunch of bells and whistles on the shore, a huge "fishing rod", perfected hand movements - this is a must-see.

It immediately seems that only masters of their craft are capable of handling such a tackle. However, if you take a closer look, you begin to understand that the plug is still the same swing rod, only it is located at the end of the longer "handle". No swings and casts. The lure is sent to the fishing point by feeding the entire rod forward.

Fishing takes place with a shortened rig. The length from the tip of the rod to the float is on average 0.5 meters. True, there is a dependence on the depth, the presence of a current, and the strength of the wind.

Plug rods are available in lengths from 9 to 20 meters. They are used mainly in competitions by athletes, but there is one caveat. At competitions, the maximum permissible length is limited to 13 m. If you believe the experts, then such a limitation should "push" the type of fishing to the people. How effective such a trick is - I do not presume to argue. However, mogu noticed that plug fishing has some popularity only among anglers in big cities.

The rods are powerful in terms of their characteristics, capable of withstanding a solid load when playing fish. Judging by the carrying capacity of the floats used (from 0.1 to 50 - 60 grams), rigs with a line diameter of 0.1 to 0.3 mm are used for fishing.

A big advantage is the presence of a rubber shock absorber. It is built into the inside of the last leg of the rod.

Thanks to its extensibility, it becomes possible to catch large fish on thin lines.
As everyone knows, it is often necessary to catch peaceful fish using bait. So the plug-in fishing rod has a special adaptation - a bait feeder with its own knee. To deliver the bait to the place of fishing, the working whip of the plug (whale) is changed to bait. Thus, the mixture falls directly to the point.

Types of long casting float rods

The main "disadvantage" of tackle with end attachment of the fishing line is the limited fishing radius. However, how you want to make a cast away, to the cherished edge, a bush sticking out of the water. And to achieve these goals, float rods for long-distance casting are used - match and Bolognese. Although the latter was originally conceived for other purposes. Therefore, it is possible to classify a lapdog as a tackle for long casts with an interference fit.

Bologna fishing rod

That telescopic rod, equipped with guides and a spinning reel, which is commonly used by amateur anglers, can be called a Bolognese fishing rod. The main reason for the convention is the use of tackle.

Yes, we are all used to thinking that if there is a reel, long distance casting must be present. There is logic. However, the main task for a Bolognese rod is to fish in a line on the rivers. Where there is at least some kind of current.

With a Bologna float rod, you can make ultra-long wiring at a decent distance from the coast. And since the rods have a reserve of power and a serious reserve of line on the reel, they allow the angler to compete with large and strong prey. The first example that comes to mind is a large bream.

Due to the fact that among the people fishing with a Bolognese fishing rod often takes place on stagnant bodies of water, one can judge about its versatility. However, I assure you that it takes a lot of work to master the skill of tackle handling. The effectiveness of fishing depends on the accuracy of the bait feeding, complete control. And to do this with a long 5 - 8 meter rod, when the float is at a great distance from the angler, is not an easy task.

However, if there is a desire to master the tackle, it's only a matter of time.

Match rod

A match is, in every sense, a float tackle for long-range casting.

Externally, the rod resembles a Bolognese rod. It also consists of several parts (knees), reel seat. Budget rods are usually telescopic. "Advanced" - plug-in. The number of guides varies depending on the length of the rod, but there are much more of them than on the Bolognese. They are smaller in shape and have high legs.

The fishing line in the rings with faith and rain is less in contact with the blank of the rod, which prevents it from sticking.

Since the match rod has English roots, the lengths of the brand rods are displayed in feet. 14 - 15 feet is 4.2 and 4.5 meters, respectively.

Fishing for a match provides for fishing with two types of rig - with a sliding and a "deaf" (fixed) float. The "deaf" float is designed for fishing in places where the length of the rod exceeds the depth by at least half a meter. The sliding float is more versatile. With this rig you can adjust to any depth.

Correct match floats attach to the line at one point. They have a special name - waggler (waggler).

They have an internal weight, which is undoubtedly a "plus" when using thin rigs.

"Pros" and "cons" of float gear, depending on the type of rod

Both in sports and fishing, fishing takes place in a wide variety of conditions. Depending on the wind, the depth of the reservoir, the presence of a current, the type and size of fish - the effectiveness of a particular method of float fishing varies. And sometimes it changes so significantly that the question of the advisability of using this method may even arise.

Control over the nozzle, or control of the tackle

The effectiveness of the control is primarily related to the length of the line, measured from the tip of the rod to the float. Out of any competition here is the "plug". The control over the nozzle is almost complete here, you can hold it in one place even in a strong current, you can make wiring in any direction, at any angle.

Telescope is much less efficient. But his control efficiency is a variable value. Let's say the length of the rod is 7 m. Then, when fishing at a depth of 2m, the control is weak, at 4 meters it is much higher, and at 6 meters (for example, when fishing from a boat), the control is already like a “plug”.

"Bolognese" and especially "match" - both have much lower controllability, but comparison with them makes no sense, because their casting distance is not available to either the plug or the telescope. Conversely, the use of "match" and "bolognese" at the distances available for the "plug" and "telescope" almost never makes sense. But the "match" is protected from wind and wind currents, because fishing takes place with a recessed line and the control over the bait is only passive.

Sensitivity

And here the "plug" is in the first place. First of all, due to the possibility of using floats of minimum carrying capacity: after all, unlike other methods, there is no throwing element in the plug technique. "Bolognese", and especially "match" - those have much more massive floats, with a very large surface volume. But the comparison here is not entirely correct - again because of the different fishing distances. In addition, at a considerable distance from the coast, the fish's requirements for the sensitivity of the gear in any aspect are noticeably lower.

Fishing on the current

The efficiency of using the considered methods is weighted according to the first two criteria ("a" and "b"), but sometimes the "plug" can have an overwhelming advantage over the "telescope". Well, the Bolognese fishing rod is actually invented for the current.

"Match" is not used during the current, unless at the weakest.

Fishing in still water

In addition to what has been said above, one can only add once again that in stagnant water use a telescopic rod with rings, i.e. "Bolognese" - in the vast majority of cases, NOT EFFECTIVE !!!

Fishing depth

The effectiveness of the "plug", "match" and "bolognese" depends little on the depth of fishing. But the use of a "telescope", especially a long one, on the rocks is not effective and uncomfortable. Therefore, even at a distance of reach for an 8 - 9-meter "telescope" it is advisable to use a "bolognese" or "match" - depending on the strength of the current.

Wind

The wind, taking into account its strength and direction, becomes a serious obstacle to any kind of fishing. For a "telescope", a strong crosswind is simply deadly, especially on stagnant water. In case of powerful gusts of headwind, a "telescope", especially a long one, can even break when casting. Bologna fishing becomes ineffective with a tailwind.

From the point of view of tackle control, the "plug" is not afraid of the wind from any direction. But the strong side (due to the large windage of the rod) sometimes makes its use simply impossible. But the "match" can be caught almost in a hurricane. The unloaded aerodynamic float pierces the space without noticing any wind (photo 7). The recessed line is also not available to his influence. But the frequent companion of the wind - the wind current - can completely ruin the matter. Most often, a strong wind current is formed in shallow enclosed bodies of water. Sometimes it extends to the very bottom and makes match fishing completely hopeless.

Fish size

Let me remind you that the main object of float fishing is the fish of the Karpov family. In general, they are rather medium-sized. Any method of float fishing with proper selection of a rod and installation of equipment (and, of course, with a landing net) makes playing fish of any kind and of a real possible size without problems. The exception is carp (or carp), maybe one or two more exotic endemics *. Probably no other fish of its family can compare with carp in strength, speed and tenacity. And its potential size is larger than that of other fish. For this reason, it is most effective to catch carp, even not the largest one, with the plug and match.

"Plug", in comparison with another "deaf" tackle - "telescope", has a much higher shock-absorbing ability. It can give a greater "consumption" for the jerk of the carp and effectively extinguish it, of course - due to the internal shock absorber of the power corresponding to this case. But the “plug” also has a limit: when the size of the fish exceeds 4-5 kg, the outcome of the fight is far from unambiguous.

The "match" manages to catch carp of almost any size - it is only a matter of the time of playing and the absence of trees, snags and other possible obstacles in the water.

Unlike sports, recreational fishing allows you to choose places for fishing not only by the availability of fish, but also by the suitability of the conditions for a specific fishing method, making fishing comfortable, efficient and catchy.
