Greetings to you, dear guests and subscribers of my blog! The main topic of today is how to choose the color of your lipstick.

You have probably noticed more than once how an incorrectly selected color can ruin the whole impression of a young lady, highlighting the yellowness of her teeth or making her old? What do you think is the option, when the face looks separate, and the lips - separately?

In order to avoid typical problems when choosing a lipstick, I decided to talk to you about this and give the necessary recommendations that will help you choose "your" lipstick.

The main criteria for choosing lipstick

Many girls, when choosing a product, adhere to the color type table.

  • For a brunette with snow-white or olive skin, there are practically no restrictions, since she
    all colors will work except brown and coral.
  • For blondes, all soft beige-pink, nude and plum shades are perfect. For evening make-up, red shades of matte and glossy lipsticks are suitable.
  • For red-haired young ladies, the following lipstick shades are ideal: plum, chocolate, coral and dark red.
  • For brown-haired women, the whole gamut of pink, plum and light brown shades has been created.
  • natural shades of plum and beige are suitable for gray eyes;
  • to blue eyes - the color of wine cherry, beige, rose;
  • to green eyes - all shades of red and terracotta .;
  • to brown eyes - candy pink, rich reds and all shades of brown.

And to be honest, I always did not understand this table, since there is also "warmth" and "brightness" in the exterior. You go, for example, for bright lipstick. You see a bunch of shades and do not understand which one is yours. Have you ever had this? I often have!

And in order to make it easier for yourself in choosing a color, I recommend that you use the method I have tested, which I learned in the makeup courses in Milan, - the fan-shaped method of choosing lipstick. The fact is that some girls often change their skin color, using a tan (artificial or natural), or dye their hair in fashionable shades, and then the standard color table will no longer be able to help in choosing a lipstick tone. But this method works 100% and doesn't misfire!

The fan-shaped way to choose lipstick

If you decide to choose your lipstick using the fan (stick) method, then I am sharing basic tips on how to do it correctly.

First, you choose the shades that you like. After that, transfer them to the fingers from the side of the palm, for example, apply one color to one finger. For example, you have selected five colors: bright red warm, bright red cold, bright red matte with berry undertone, bright red glossy, bright red with a brick tint. To do this, you use all your five fingers.

Now you come to the mirror. Ideal if the lighting is daylight... By the way, when you go to the store for cosmetics, you take a small mirror with you and go to the window. Make a big smile, and put one finger to your lips with the clean side, and the painted side should be looking in the mirror. (Forgive me for my sporty look in the photo, but I've been snowboarding all day and, frankly, it's cold here!)

Then you look: does the teeth turn yellow, has the skin tone changed, how do your eyes look with such a shade and is this shade suitable for your color type or not? And you compare, in this way, in order, all the shades you have chosen.

If there is not enough light in the store, then it is better to leave the store, and take a good look at how you look with one color or another on the street in the daylight.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. It's better to go to the store without makeup!

If you choose a product in an online store, then, in this case, I recommend printing a photo of shades on a color printer and at home in daylight apply pictures to your face.

Pay attention to the fact that gloss always visually gives more volume, while matte dark lipstick, on the contrary, reduces lips. But all this can be corrected with a lip liner.

Pros of the fan-shaped method

  1. This method of applying lipstick-tinted fingers is hygienic, and you will be sure not to get cold sores or something else.
  2. This is a convenient method: you will look pure shades and will be able to choose exactly what you need, since in the store you will not be able to perfectly apply or completely remove the lipstick, and because of this, the colors will get in the way.
  3. Since the skin on the fingers from the side of the palm has a relief (grooves, folds), then you will immediately see how the lipstick will lie on the lips.
  4. The fanny way rejects the importance of understanding your color type, warmth, etc. Thus, you will immediately quickly understand whether the lipstick tone suits you or not.

Examining Lipstick Ingredients

In addition to choosing a color, you need to pay attention to the composition! Again she will start getting tired of being natural, you might think. Girls, if you take a podmada, which you will use once a month, then in general the composition is not so important. But if you like to do makeup with an emphasis on the lips often, then it is better to think about what will hold back in your lipstick.

First, we actually eat it! And secondly, unlike the same face cream, lipstick gets into our body much faster - through the mucous membrane of the oral cavity.

Indeed, in the production of cosmetics for lips, most manufacturers use harmful ingredients. And in order to be "armed", I will tell you about the main harmful substances that make up the lip products and what they are fraught with for health.

  • Lead... Neurotoxin. It causes such serious diseases as female infertility, caries, diseases of the skeletal system, anemia, pathology of child development, increased fatigue, headaches, increased blood pressure. Research in the United States has shown that 61% of lipsticks on the market contain lead, which is easily absorbed and stored in the body.
  • Coal tar pigments... Causes skin irritation, headaches and nausea.
  • Carmine... Provokes allergies.
  • Flavors... May cause dermatitis, chapped lips and dryness.
  • Aniline(phenylamine, aminobenzene). Causes cancer.
  • Tartrazine... Causes skin rashes and constant itching.
  • Lanolin... Provokes allergies and disrupts digestion.
  • Petrolatum... A carcinogen that accumulates in the body, dries out the skin and causes allergic reactions.
  • Glycerol... Dehydrates the skin of the lips.
  • Triclosan... Causes cardiovascular disease.
  • Mineral oils(wax, paraffin). The liver, kidneys and lymph nodes are affected.
  • Parabens can provoke premature skin aging (methylparaben), cause cancer, and affect the endocrine system. Toxic.

We replenish the cosmetic bag with safe lipsticks

In this section of the post, I will share information about brands that have safe lipsticks.

  • Lepo is an Italian cosmetics that has EcoCert and ICEA certificates, by the way, I bought just two lipsticks from this brand while taking pictures for this post. I will tell you about my new products in a separate post. I bought this lipstick in Livigno, in the L "Erbolario store. Natural cosmetics store, which offers both decorative and care products.
  • Pacifica Perfumes Inc- amazing cosmetics, a little expensive compared to analogues. I have lipstick from this brand, as well as a tinted lip oil that is completely natural and smells incredibly delicious. I will also talk about these products in the following articles.

    Ecco bella- completely natural and safe formulations of decorative cosmetics. Free of gluten, dyes, petroleum products, preservatives and fragrances

  • Natura Seberica Are Russian cosmetics, of good quality. The goods that are produced for export are especially good. I bought lipstick in a store in Moscow, which is located on Tverskaya. Natura Seberica has a line of lipsticks with EcoCert certification

And, if the composition is not particularly important for you, I can recommend lipstick

  • MAC - I have red, Retro Matte Ruby Woo. A gorgeous red shade, but not the best composition. I use it on special occasions. Firmness is good, but you need a pencil to hold it.
  • E.L.F. Cosmetics, Matte Lipstick, Deep Red.06 oz (1.8 g)... This product is relatively safe, and contains vitamins A, C and E. Of the minuses, it contains artificial paraffin. Produced in the form of a retractable pencil, it is very convenient to use. Even a beginner can handle it! And, most importantly, the quality is in no way inferior to expensive analogs. Before use, it is better to first moisten lips with a hygienic, wait a minute and blot with a napkin, otherwise this lipstick is a little dry out lips. A little more crimson in color than makos. But in terms of durability, it is not a bit inferior to it.
