A story about Tenerife would be incomplete without a review of the Costa Adeje resort. Together with Las Americas, it is popular with tourists. We also managed to walk along it and form our impressions about this place. Is it worth it to stop here and what you can do, read in this article.

Costa Adeje is considered a calmer resort than. On its territory, as a rule, couples prefer to stay, who appreciate the proximity of the ocean, developed infrastructure and cozy restaurants. The composition of vacationers at the resort is diverse both in age and in the country of residence.

Adeje is located at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. Before the conquest of Tenerife by the Spaniards, this area served as the residence of the ruler of the Guanches. The last of them is Don Diego de Adeje, who managed to establish peace with the Spaniards. After the beginning of colonization, a small settlement was founded on the Adeje River, which expanded every year. From the 16th century, monastic sketes began to be built, and later monasteries.

Currently, Costa Adeje is a modern resort that has everything you need for a pleasant stay. We were able to verify this by walking along it.

One day we decided to walk to Costa Adeje. and conducive to such walks. And if you get tired, you can always take a break on one of the beaches or go for a bite to eat in one of the coastal cafes. Later we did just that.

On the one hand, such a route made it possible to get acquainted with the local beaches and infrastructure of the area, and on the other hand, to breathe fresh sea air. I never ceased to be amazed by the nature of the Canary Islands. How different and mysterious it is. And the ocean is just mesmerizing when you look at it.

When you walk along the sea, it is difficult to determine where one resort ends and another begins. Their close proximity contributed to the fact that they merged almost into a single space. But if you dig a little in the directories, you can find out that the border between Las Amerixas and Costa Adeje runs along the bed of the Barranco del Troya river near the Troya hotel. On the opposite side, the border runs in the La Caleta area.

The Costa Adeje area made a good impression on me. Here, indeed, everything is well arranged and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Beautiful beaches, a variety of attractions and convenient transport accessibility will help you to have a great time at the resort.

And here we met one of the most beautiful sunsets. The sun went below the horizon, illuminating the resort with its bright colors.

The photo does not convey the colors that nature uses.

With the onset of darkness, the embankment becomes completely different. Tourists change their beach outfits for evening ones and go for a walk.

Hotels and Apartments

The resort has many hotels and apartments, both high-level and fairly budget options. I made a selection of housing options of different levels with high ratings.

Five star hotels

If high prices do not scare you, then five-star hotels in Costa Adeja will allow you to experience all the luxury and pomposity of the resort.

Bahia del Duque is a luxurious five-star hotel located on the beach of the same name. You can stay in a room or a villa. The hotel has everything a tourist needs - shady courts, shops, spas. You can try gourmet cuisine in 9 restaurants and 8 bars.

Attractions and photos

The Costa Adeje resort has plenty to do in between sunbathing. Among the most interesting entertainment and local attractions:

  • , which will give vivid impressions of water attractions to both children and adults.
  • Aqualand Aquapark is the first water park in Tenerife, which is now more focused on children.
  • Golf Costa Adeje is a golf course where lovers of this sport gather.
  • Eagle park (Jungle park), which hosts theatrical performances with the participation of birds and animals
  • Port of Puerto Colon (Puerto Colon) - a gathering place for yachtsmen and lovers of sea trips. It is great to walk along it and look at the ships. If desired, you can rent a yacht for an excursion on the ocean or fishing.

Port of Puerto Colon

Quite close to Costa Adeje in the resort of Los Cristianos there are several more amusement parks:

  • Monkey park
  • Camel park (camel park)

shopping

You can go shopping in the Grand Sur shopping center. Among the large shopping centers selling mass market brands Zara, Calzedonia, Timberland, H&M and luxury brands, Plaza del Duque and Siam Mall should be noted. Smaller shopping centers - Alteza, Paris del Duque. Many shopping centers have cafes and supermarkets, and entertainment is provided for children - children's towns and entertainment machines.

Along the beach line there are small shops with souvenirs, cosmetics and clothing.

Beaches

The beaches of Costa Adeje are distinguished by clean bottoms and emerald waters. The local government has put a lot of effort into their arrangement. Most of the beaches are sandy, but there are also pebbly beaches. The sand on the beaches of different shades, as the imported yellow sand from the Sahara was mixed with gray volcanic.

On the beaches you can not only swim and sunbathe, but also rent water equipment or go paragliding. Both divers and sailing enthusiasts will like it here.

Map

A map will help you navigate the sights and places to stay in the resort of Costa Adeje.

For many tourists, the Costa Adeje resort is an opportunity to sunbathe on white sand and swim in clean, clear water. It is chosen by wealthy respectable tourists living in expensive hotels, as well as ordinary people renting 3-star hotels or apartments. Everyone will find a place to their liking in Costa Adeje.

Those who come to Tenerife will be interested to know what the southern resort of Costa Adeje is, located west of Las Americas and practically merged with it. Is it comfortable to rest here? What services are provided to tourists? What to do, what to see and where to have fun besides the beach? Throw away all doubts and hurry to be surprised, because this heavenly place is just for you!

A resort with an impeccable reputation

Logo of the Costa Adeje resort and coat of arms of the Municipality of Adeje

Costa Adeje considered more peaceful, compared to, a place that is ideal for family holidays. People of different ages and incomes come here to relax, and the most privileged and expensive part of it, next to beach del duque(Playa del Duque), chosen by tourists who are not afraid of high prices in the price lists. And this is completely justified, since the hotels here are luxurious, and the service in them, judging by the reviews of tourists, is impeccable and deserves all praise.

Over the past few years, the resort town has changed a lot due to the large number of built hotel complexes (the hotels are almost all new and built in recent decades), the rapid development of infrastructure and the level of service. This, no doubt, attracts tourists from Europe who want to enjoy not only the wonderful weather, but also a wide variety of leisure activities.

A separate description deserves an absolutely clean ocean floor, which, thanks to the efforts of ecologists and diving enthusiasts, has acquired its current form with emerald, crystal clear waters. Beauty - do not take your eyes off!

We already wrote that many beaches in Costa Adeje were covered with tons of white African sand, so that the coastal zone would please with its pleasant shade. So, the territories continue to equip and ennoble even more, giving the resort not only a stunning view, but also an impeccable reputation as the most wonderful place to relax.

Quiet and boring area

If you trace the administrative boundaries of the resort on the map, then it is adjacent to Las Americas along the canal bed in the Barranco del Rey gorge in the southern part, and on the opposite side ends in the La Caleta area, which is located in the same municipality.

View of the Costa Adeje, del Duque beach

You, as a tourist, may have the highest demands, but the service that Costa Adeje gives you is unlikely to disappoint you. The resort itself is noticeable calmer than its nearest neighbor and more family friendly. It offers vacationers a large selection of four- and five-star hotels with cozy rooms, budget apartments, cafes, bars and restaurants, cozy public parks with luxurious fragrant vegetation, playgrounds, sports facilities and spa centers.

beach holiday

You can sunbathe on the light sand and splash around in warm clear water with a turquoise tint on one of the equipped beaches. The blue-flagged Playa del Duque(Playa del Duque) and Fanabe/Torviscas(Fanabe/Torviscas), as well as Playa de Troya(Playa de Troya). You can read more in the article "". All of them continuously stretch one after another for a distance of six kilometers, only occasionally separated by rocky ledges. The service is the most diverse - from the rental of water vehicles and sun loungers with umbrellas, to more serious equipment for underwater fun.

Even walking is fun

During the day, you can safely bask in the sun and splash in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, but in the evening it's time for walks along the waterfront. Also, on the territory of the resort, there are public parks and squares with amazing plants, where you can not only walk during the day or in the evening, but also make morning runs.

Embankment with benches for tourists

Entertainment at the resort

Those who come here for adrenaline and water activities can do diving, sailing or paragliding m (the latter fly directly over the resort, and their landing site is next door in La Caleta). You can also go water skiing or rent a catamaran, Water bike or motor boat- and forward for impressions.

The resort is conveniently located near the main entertainment places the southern part of the island (water parks and, and, as well as all the entertainment of Neighboring Las Americas), and numerous tour desks will gladly take you to any attractions in Tenerife( , and others).

Nearby there is a wonderful field for a professional game of golf, where the unique relief of the island is used together with natural landscapes that delight the eye. Almost every hotel has a minimum of sports infrastructure in the form of a swimming pool and a gym, and the largest even have their own tennis courts.

In the central part of the coast of the resort there is a port for pleasure boats - Puerto Colon. Snow-white yachts and boats are moored here, ready at any moment to give you an unforgettable journey across the ocean or to the neighboring island of La Gomera, where you can see dolphins and even whales frolicking in the water.

Dining at the resort

There is definitely no shortage of facilities. The Bahia del Duque hotel alone has eight bars and nine restaurants with excellent cuisine and excellent service. They are open to the public, but the prices are far from the lowest. Fortunately, there are cafes and restaurants for every taste and color - the bulk is concentrated along the waterfront and the main hiking trails. In terms of cuisine and the theme of the establishments, everything is as usual, most of them are motley establishments with different cuisines and an emphasis on reaching the maximum number of tourists, but there are also large restaurants, barbecues or sushi bars.

Shopping lovers

And you will find something to do here, although the choice here is not so big. In several shopping centers of Costa Adeje, you can buy both branded items and clothes of little-known brands. For example, in Plaza del Duque- a shopping center built on a grand scale, offering you all kinds of goods from world brands and Spanish manufacturers of clothing and accessories. In fact, this is the largest shopping center in the area. In addition to it, several smaller shopping complexes are scattered around the resort, and opposite the commercial center El Duque(El Duque, not to be confused with the above!) On Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00 there is a local market (mostly things and souvenirs).

Tents with goods at the market in Costa Adeje

All over Costa Adeje there are many shops with cheap things in huge quantities, they are, as usual, located closer to the beaches and crowded places. It is quite possible to buy sandals or a sundress instead of a torn one, but I would not take such gifts home, it is better to save a place in a suitcase for something more worthwhile.

Anyway, shopping- this is a pleasant experience, if only because we all, one way or another, sometimes just like to stare at the product offered, even if we do not intend to purchase it.

Night life

If you wish, you will always find a place for yourself to have fun, although it may seem that there is nowhere to “hang out” in Costa Adeje at all. Club El Faro or Kaluna Beach Club, located between the port and the beach of Fanabe, in fact, the only such institution nearby. In general, nightclubs, bars and discos with good music and fun, dancing and parties are better to look for. in nearby Las Americas, but if you are not a big fan of noise, then you can easily find where to pass the evening with live music, karaoke or a sports match and closer to the hotel.

For lovers of gambling and random winnings, the H10 Gran Tenerife has the only one in the area casino.

When they mention Costa Adeje, the word “most” is often used: the most important resort, the cleanest coast, the most luxurious hotels, the most exquisite dishes, etc. It seems to me that this is a worthy assessment of the resort, which is visited by a huge number of tourists every year.

It was here that I visited back in 2010, when I first visited the island of Tenerife and it was after this visit that I wanted to move here =) During the day there were beaches and excursions, and in the evening either a quiet dinner in restaurants nearby, or noisy parties and parties in, a taxi to which costs only 10-12 euros.

And, finally, a beautiful video about this resort and its capabilities (it is better to watch in full screen).

Height above sea level: 280 m
Square: 105 km²
Population: 51238 people
Postal code: 38670

The area of Costa Adeje in the northwest of the island of Tenerife has changed markedly in recent years. Many hotel complexes and hotels have been built here, and the infrastructure and level of service now allow you to receive tourists from all over Europe. People come to Adeje to enjoy the wonderful climate of the coast and a beach holiday.

Attractions of Adeje in the south of Tenerife

Adeje is a small town that can be walked around in an hour or two. It is located close to the tourist area, but there are not as many tourists here as one might expect. Buses run from the resorts, so getting there is not difficult.

Old houses, narrow streets with cafes and locals sitting in them have been preserved here. And beautiful and often cloudy mountains rise above the city.

What sights to see here?

In Adeje, a monastery built in 1697 has been preserved. The first monastic sketes appeared here already in the 16th century. You can go to the ancient Skete of the Sign at the current monastery of St. Sebastian.

And in the center of Adeje, next to the town hall, there is an old and beautiful church of St. Ursula. It was built in the 16th century. Entrance is free, but don't make noise so as not to distract the parishioners.

Another attraction of Adeje is the fortress of Casa Fuerte. It began to be built back in 1553 to protect against the constant attacks of pirates who devastated the coast of Adeje. For three centuries, Casa Fuerte protected the town and played the role of a political and economic center. And in 1902 it was almost completely destroyed by a major fire. Many valuable historical artifacts were kept within the walls of the fortress. It was possible to save only a small part, they are exhibited in the Museum of the Canary Islands, located on the island of Gran Canaria.

Not far from Adeje is the famous Hell's Gorge hiking trail. A winding mountain path leads to a small waterfall.

And on the other side of Adeje, there are abandoned terraces where you can walk. It is especially cool to do this at sunset. From here you have an excellent view of the coast and the tourist resorts of Costa Adeje and Las Americas.

It is difficult to find an apartment here for a vacation. Adeje is mostly inhabited by locals and many expats. The city is chosen by those who are thinking about moving to Tenerife. Here you can buy inexpensive real estate, compared to neighboring tourist areas. As usual, the choice is large, from small studios to large apartments. But buying property in Spain is a separate conversation, very complex and has many nuances. Our video about the tricks of agents and the mistakes of architects is coming soon, be sure to check it out.

District history

The coast of Adeje today is the most comfortable and respectable vacation spot in Tenerife. Let's tell some secrets.
The city of Adeje itself is located at an altitude of 300 m above sea level. Before the conquest by Europeans, the residence of the ruler of the Guanches was located here. The last of the Guanches, at baptism received the name Don Diego de Adeje and made peace with the Spaniards.

Since 1496, the process of colonization and land division began under the leadership of Alonso Fernando de Lugo. A small settlement was founded near the Adeje River, where the modern city is located.
In the 16th century, local residents built the first monastic sketes. In 1530 there was already a hermitage in Adeje and another one in Taucho. Much later, the monasteries of the Sign of the Mother of God appeared in Enramada and in Concepción.

Artifacts that survived the fire are stored in the Museum of the Canary Islands in Gran Canaria.
  • Caserio de Taucho. A rural settlement near Adeje, very interesting from a historical and ethnographic point of view. It is located at an altitude of 875 m between the De Ye and De la Fuente ravines.
  • Another attraction of Adeje is Morro Grueso. Accumulation of basalt pillars between the Agua and Fanabe ravines. Drawings are visible on their surface. Most of the rock art preserved in Tenerife is concentrated in the south of the island - these lands were actively used for pastures.

Holidays celebrated in the municipality of Adeje

  • St. Sebastian's Day: January 20th
In Enramada, the inhabitants had the first Appearance of the Virgin of the Holy Sign, the patroness of Adeje. And here was built the first hermitage in the south of Tenerife. Farmers and pastoralists have great reverence for St. Sebastian. Many miracles and cases of amazing healing of the sick are associated with the deeds of this saint. Men and women from different countries flock to the ancient hermitage in the hope of being cured of ailments or getting their wish fulfilled.

To get to Ifonche (1000 m above sea level), you need to turn off the road at and near Escalona.

shopping

Plaza del Duke- the most famous shopping center in this area of the island. Shoppers will find plenty of goods here. Fashion boutiques often have big discount sales. There are 2 other malls nearby. Fanabe (Fanabe) And El Mirador.

Restaurants, clubs, nightlife

The main part of the nightlife takes place in the western part of the resort, closer to the border with the resort of Las Americas. It is there that most of the establishments are concentrated, working until late at night. In other areas of the resort, with the onset of darkness, almost all establishments are closed and the streets are noticeably empty.

Casino Playa de las Americas is a kind of local Las Vegas.

Monkey Beach Club is a very popular bar located in Las Americas on Troya Beach.

How to get to Costa Adeje

From the south and north airports you can take local buses, but the most convenient option would be to order a taxi from the airport before departure (transfer) or rent a car. This is especially convenient if you are traveling with luggage or traveling with children. You can order a transfer from Tenerife airport to Costa Adeje through this form.

If you have already been here, leave feedback about your vacation in Costa Adeje, share your impressions of your trip to Tenerife!

It extends along the southern part of the island for more than six kilometers. The resort is a single whole, but if desired, it can be divided into two parts. The first of them is the surroundings of the Hesperia Troja Hotel. Along the channel, located near the hotel, water descends from the mountains and it is along the vanishing line that the border between the two sections of Costa Adeje is determined. The second part is located to the west of the riverbed. Thus, if you stand facing the island, and with your back to the ocean, it will stretch in the west.

Family holidays on the beaches of Costa Adeje

Costa Adeje - perfect for a family holiday in a relaxed atmosphere. The farther away from the western, noisy neighbor Playa de las Americas, the calmer. At the farthest western point of the resort, near a luxurious beach, rest will cost the most. It is here that the most luxurious hotels are located, including the famous Bahia Del Duc. Surely this hotel will be one of the best places you have ever stayed. The only problem is the number of zeros in your final score. Despite the prestige of recreation in this region, the infrastructure in the area of this hotel is quite poor. The only entertainment is the Plaza Del Duc. In the absence of affordable, shopping and entertainment facilities, this place will come in handy.

In the visibility zone of the beach del Duc, it is easy to find two large capes that visually separate it from the largest beach of Costa Adeje -. This place is wildly popular among tourists, and at the peak of the season the beach resembles the Sochi coast of the Soviet period, when there is no way to set foot and step so as not to hurt one of the vacationers. True, the contingent of vacationers itself contrasts sharply with other beaches of this resort. As a rule, the streets are empty early and after dinner you can meet on the street, perhaps, not the most sober Englishmen or lost Russians.

Tourist infrastructure of Costa Adeje

The tourist infrastructure in Costa Adeje is quite rich and widely represented by a large number of small shops, shops and small cafes. The assortment here is purely touristic, the price range is minimal, and the goods are easily guessed. It is unlikely that you will find here any exotic curiosity, found only in Tenerife. And you won’t try the real cuisine of the Canary Islands either. Pay attention to the small village of La Caleta, which is three kilometers from Playa del Duc. There you can always buy the freshest seafood and walk along the beautiful coastline. Here in Fañaba you will find decent Bs, decent apartment options and a great mid-range vacation.

The beaches of Costa Adeje

We move on. After the Fanabe beach, which is gigantic by local standards, the neighboring one will seem chamber and miniature. This place is famous for its cheap and very tasty cuisine, many great bars, as well as dozens of noisy promoters and barkers. It is difficult to pass by and not go to each of the establishments, but it is better to control yourself, otherwise it will be difficult to "survive" until the evening. Unless, pay attention to the El Faro disco, famous in all Tenerife. Despite the fact that this is a favorite place among the Russian-speaking public, this place is quite decent. But do not think that Puerto Colona is a driving, crazy and purely party place. People here, nevertheless, go to bed and do not walk at night and do not sing songs. This is not a nursing home, of course, but not either. In the evening, there are a large number of local Frank Sinatra and Elvises on the streets, and each of them will offer an unforgettable musical evening and only for you.

How to get to the hotel

The soft sand of Costa Adeje ends and to get to the H10 Gran Tenerife hotel you will have to go through a rocky area. But the path will not tire you at all, especially since you can always take a break, for example, in a very unusual restaurant located right on the rock. Sitting at one of the tables, you can enjoy an incredibly beautiful view of. We sat down, drank a little orange fresh on the road and hit the road again. Moreover, there are only a few hundred meters left to the hotel, and inside Gran Tenerife there is the only casino in the southern part of the island. Hurry up or someone else will hit the jackpot.

Exactly on the border of the two resorts, the most green street in this area stretches. We saw the sign "Veronicas Street", feel free to move in the given direction. Unless, of course, you came to Tenerife to have a good time at night and wake up far after dinner. There are a lot of cheap apartments in the Veronicas area, which means that the area will be saturated with drunk, young Englishmen. A great way to improve your English, but also a great opportunity to kill your own liver.

Let's sum up a little. If you have come for a relaxing, family vacation, you have a direct road to Costa Adeje, if your vacation involves a less strict program, go to. In the west of Costa Adeje you will have a great vacation, but you will lose a lot of cash. Quiet, tasty, but expensive, and there is nothing special to do. When staying in Fañaba, expect an excellent beach, mid-range hotels, noisy shopping streets and quiet, summer evenings. Heading to the Puerto Colon area, get ready for almost round-the-clock noisy fun, cheerful British neighbors and the absence of puritanical moods. If you like water attractions, you will find them a little off the coast, just behind the motorway. There are popular water parks and.

YACHT CLUB IN PUERTO COLON

If you are a happy owner of a yacht or are just about to take your first steps in this direction, you will not find a better place than a yacht club in the Puerto Colon area. There is only one question: if the owners of yachts are really happy people, then why is there a sign on every second yacht: “for sale”?

Puerto Colon has a large concentration of a wide variety of vessels: from simple pleasure boats to almost combat destroyers. In any case, people who do not understand yachts take fashionable floating substances, at least for warships. It is not necessary to be Roman Abramovich to feel like a real owner of a house on the water. You can rent a yacht or whatever floats there, and then add a little imagination and go full speed ahead. Here you can fulfill one more of your old dreams and do sea fishing.

If the word “port” confuses you in advance, then relax. Here - in Puerto Colon - you will not find giant rusty barges or oil tankers. They just don't fit in here. This is a small bay designed for medium-sized swimming units. All of them are environmentally friendly and do not harm their owners, tourists and the surrounding southern nature. Moreover, they perfectly complement the local landscape and serve as an additional decoration of the landscape.
