The vacation season is over, bright sundresses and stylish swimsuits are stacked on the far shelf in the locker. So the summer is over? Someone like. Some people prefer to rest in early autumn, during the velvet season.

What is the velvet season?

They say that such an expression appeared in the 19th century and it referred precisely to the Black Sea coast. Gentlemen and ladies of high society came to the Black Sea in September. There is still plenty of sun and fruit and it is very warm, but there is no sweltering heat. Do you remember how you dressed up in those days? Spooky corsets, long dresses, gloves. In general, in July on the seashore in such an outfit - it's just a murder!

But in September you don't have to sweat, you can put on chic velvet (yes velvet - hence the name of the season!) Dresses in the evening and parade along the embankment with a gentleman.

Now there are no gentlemen and ladies left, at least in our country, but the velvet season in the Black Sea is still wonderful.

Pros of rest in the velvet season on the Black Sea

1. Weather. Doctors often recommend to relax at the sea in early autumn, especially for those who have health problems. The sun is more gentle at this time, and the sea is still very warm and therefore it is quite comfortable to swim. Fresh fruits and berries are also in abundance - grapes, watermelons, peaches, then the season of persimmons and pomegranates begins. As a rule, there is little rain on the Black Sea during the velvet season.

2. Prices. An important point, I want to say. Yes, prices go down during the velvet season. And where they did not fall, they begin to bargain more willingly. The season is coming to an end, the owners of hotels and private hotels will soon be closing, eating up what they earned in the summer and waiting for the next season. In the meantime, they are trying to get the last money this season. In addition, prices for air tickets are falling, and this is a very important plus.

3. Few vacationers. Not so little, of course, but compared to July, there is simply beauty and silence on the streets of resort cities near the Black Sea! The children went to school. The kindergartens are also in a new season, students are starting to study. Silence and grace! The velvet season is wonderful.

Cons of rest in the velvet season on the Black Sea

I found only two cons:

1. Study. Yes, learning can be both a plus and a minus, especially for those with children who are students. Not every parent will pull off a child during the school year and rush to rest, even if he personally has such an opportunity.

2. Unpredictable weather. Usually in the Black Sea in September, the weather is fine - no humidity, warm and dry. But lately, something incredible is happening with the climate on Earth. Therefore, no one can guarantee that it is during your vacation that such natural troubles as hurricanes, heavy rains and cold winds will not occur.

We are clearly lucky with the planet: the amazing variety of climatic zones allows any individual to find a suitable vacation spot. Even if you give some forest thickets to pick mushrooms and hunt moose, others like the stormy rivers, along which, at the risk of their lives, you can raft, and still others are looking for a better place to winter the summer, and go to the mountains ... there is a kind of vacation that attracts everyone at least for a short time: a beach vacation. Indeed, in the hustle and bustle of everyday work, this is often lacking: the opportunity to lie belly up and do nothing. And where else can you lie down without thinking about anything, if not under the gentle sun on the beach near the sea ...

A seaside vacation is not only relaxation and getting rid of constant stress, but also health, joy and strength for new achievements.

In the northern hemisphere, you can go on vacation to the sea only in summer. But we do not live in the Middle Ages. Going on vacation in winter? - let's go south, to the southern hemisphere, or where it's summer all year round - to the Caribbean or the Seychelles. Therefore, at any time of the year, it remains to choose a place ... and assess your financial capabilities. So, you are going on vacation. Where to go on vacation at sea?

Where to relax in Russia in summer

Three summer months in Russia are considered the most popular. And our climate is such that in winter there is no time for the beaches, and the vacation season for most citizens is in the summer, and most importantly - in the summer holidays for children.

First of all, it is worth evaluating the simplest option: where you can relax in Russia.

In the first place are, of course, the Black Sea resorts. Krasnodar Territory and Abkhazia have an undoubted advantage over Europe - they do not need to have a passport and change money, the people there are ours, therefore there will be no problems with the language, and the cuisine is familiar, and the mentality ... predictable. And most importantly, the prices on the beaches of Russia are more or less acceptable.

From almost any corner of the European part of Russia to the Black Sea for several hours of summer, and no one canceled trains with cars. Warm sea, sun and beach - sandy, pebble, with colored shells ... - what else do you need on vacation at the sea. The best months for holidays are July and August, but the season lasts much longer: from May to September-October. And if you can't stand the heat, and your children have grown up a long time ago, go to the sea in the velvet season - in the fall. This is the best time for romantics of all ages ...

With the service in the Black Sea resorts, of course, so far ... not very much. Often the buildings of sanatoriums and boarding houses were erected back in Soviet times, and local residents strive to sell the sea and the sun at a higher price, not at all worrying about creating comfortable conditions for vacationers. Political instability is also not conducive to the development of the resort business ... However, there are changes for the better, quite decent private boarding houses have already appeared, so ... everything will be. Someday.

The second sea in terms of resort value is the Baltic Sea. The service at the Baltic resorts is already an order of magnitude higher than at the Black Sea ones, but their main disadvantage is the water temperature: only by May the water warms up to 12-14 degrees, and even at the height of summer the water is considered "warm" at 18-20 degrees. But there are other pleasures that will make your vacation full and unforgettable: long walks through the pine forests, exploring the coastal rocks and - the sea air. Russian Baltic resorts are located in the Kaliningrad region: on the Curonian Spit, in Svetlogorsk and Yantarny.

The choice of sea resorts abroad is much wider.

Where to go on summer vacation at sea abroad

The most popular summer destination for Russians, so that it is not very far and almost like home, is, of course, the Mediterranean Sea. The resorts of Greece, Spain, France, Italy, not to mention the assimilated Turkey, are ready to accept any number of tourists from May to October. There are no restrictions on the length of the vacation, its comfort and the availability of entertainment: everything that your wallet can support. Excursions to exotic places and shopping will be a pleasant addition, and prices for many goods in Europe may be lower than ours.

The Mediterranean Sea is not only Europe, but also Africa: Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt ... Surfers love to ride in Morocco, in Tunisia they explore the ruins of Carthage, destroyed before our era, during the Roman Empire, and everyone knows about the sights of Egypt from childhood: pyramids, ancient Thebes (Luxor) - the city of the pharaohs and the birthplace of the Sun God Amun, Alexandria, the Sinai Peninsula, Cairo and Port Said ... It is worth spending time and money and going on excursions.

The non-CIS countries provide even more opportunities for summer vacations. The Maldives and Seychelles, the resorts of the Caribbean and even the north of South America are ready to embrace you.

When it's winter in Russia

Of course, resting on the sea in the winter within Russia is so-so pleasure. In our very tropical region - Krasnodar - you won't be able to swim in winter, even if the air temperature is up to + 14… + 16 ° C.

The only way out is to go on a seaside vacation abroad in winter. Do not think that you can only rest in the southern hemisphere in winter. And the northern part of the world is full of places where beach holidays in winter are common. Moreover, in the winter months it can be even better than in the summer - there is no sweltering heat. The UAE, Egypt and Thailand are much more attractive in winter, the Indian state of Goa, with its popular beaches, is also practically closed from May to November. Therefore, the Russian winter is a good time to go swimming in the warm seas.

The closest warm sea is the Red Sea. The cheapest vacation will be in Egypt and Turkey, the United Arab Emirates is much more expensive, but the service there is also higher. At about the same price level, Thailand and India, but the Caribbean: Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba - will cost more. By the way, the Caribbean is ready to receive vacationers all year round, just like the resorts of California and southern Florida: these are regions where eternal summer reigns.

The world leaders of the resort business are, of course, the islands located in the middle of the ocean in the equatorial zone: Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean, the Seychelles and the Maldives in the Indian Ocean, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic, Bali resorts in Indonesia ... and the level of service will be decent.

Well, don't forget about the real southern countries. When we have winter, it is summer in Australia or New Zealand. The islands of Madagascar and Mauritius, African Mozambique, beach resorts in South America ... - all at your service.

There are several important points about a seaside holiday abroad in winter. First, acclimatization. It seems so easy and pleasant to get from winter to summer. Imagine what it is like to go back ... You need to take care of warm clothes and safety measures when exiting the plane: no bravado without a hat and in a light jacket, otherwise you will show off your impressions while lying in a hospital bed.

In addition, distant countries require long flights, which is also stressful. Be extremely careful if you have heart problems or other chronic illnesses: holidays abroad in winter can turn into unpredictable complications. Then it might be better to wait for summer and relax not far from home.

Whichever season you choose, whatever countries you decide to explore - may there be good companions and good luck next to you!

We go where we want. We thought about it and decided that we still want to go to the sea. And not at all because this is a "stereotype of recent years." And why the last - if you think about it, this stereotype is decent for years, remember at least about Soviet health resorts, sanatoriums, pioneer camps on the shores of the Black Sea. We suggest not to think about stereotypes - health is more important. We found as many as five reasons to be on the sea coast, listen to the sound of the waves, look at the crimson sunset over the sea and admire the horizon line. Straight line: only sky and water.

1. At the resort, you can fill the deficiency of vitamin D

Shutterstock

Vitamin D is produced in the skin under the influence of ultraviolet rays - it is not surprising that the inhabitants of the North absolutely lack it, especially in winter. "Lack of vitamin D is typical for 95-98% of residents of northern latitudes and central Russia," says a psychotherapist, Ph.D., author of a patented technique for correcting eating behavior and losing weight. Recently, a deficiency of this vitamin has been noted among residents of southern latitudes. This is due to the fact that people use too strong sunscreen and are less outdoors.

And this shortage affects literally all aspects of life. “The role of vitamin D is broader than participation in phosphorus-potassium metabolism and prevention of osteoporosis and rickets,” says Ekaterina Pushkova, pediatrician, allergist-immunologist at the Atlas Medical Center. "It participates in immune responses, in cell differentiation, and reduces inflammation." The level of the substance has to be replenished with the help of vitamins with therapeutic doses (and they are much higher than prophylactic doses, as Mikhail Gavrilov explains).

To prevent vitamin D deficiency, you need to spend 20 minutes a day in the sun with open hands and face.

Without washing - so that there is a fatty film on the face. Can you do it right now? You can find out by looking out the window.

Theoretically, you can stock up on this vitamin by going on vacation to a seaside resort: “Vitamin D belongs to the fat-soluble category and will be stored in the fat depot for some time, three to four months,” recalls Mikhail Gavrilov.

2. Sea sand is good for the feet, sea water is good for the skin

Shutterstock

The benefits are primarily cosmetic. A romantic walk along the surf can replace a hike to a pedicure specialist. The fact is that wet sand is an excellent exfoliant, it helps the skin of the feet (and not only feet) to get rid of dead cells and renew, which makes the hardened limbs soften and take on a decent look.

It is desirable that the sand is very fine - the beaches of the Seychelles, Dominican Republic, Bali or Cambodia are ideal.

In addition, walking on the sand is also a kind of foot massage, which is considered useful by followers of alternative medicine: they claim that foot massage helps relieve stress, improve blood circulation and strengthen immunity.

With regard to sea water, options are possible. For example, with eczema and atopic dermatitis, it should be avoided. With psoriasis - on the contrary, splash in it more often. And for those who suffer from acne, doctors advise to sunbathe (in moderation, of course): vitamin D is also known for its antibacterial properties.

3. At the resort, we move more and eat better

Shutterstock

The debaters will surely find an answer to this statement: yes, exercise with a shovel in the country is also great fitness. But not now! In winter, many summer residents, even wealthy ones, prefer not to break through to the site through the snowdrifts, but calmly wait for the snow to melt. And there is nothing to weed. In apartments, summer residents, of course, lack the opportunity to warm up. Sea resorts are a different matter.

For 10 minutes of swimming in the sea, a 70 kg person burns 70 calories. For half an hour of walking on the sand, he also spends 158 calories, and even protects the joints, for which walking and running on soft surfaces are very useful.

It also strengthens the muscles of the legs (when walking), shoulders, back and arms (when swimming). But he may also decide to play beach volleyball, go for a mountain walk or ride a bike!

Meals at the resort are another story. If you've traveled to one of the Mediterranean or Southeast Asian countries, you'll likely be eating more fish and seafood (and consuming more omega-3 fatty acids, which you probably lack) and vegetables (vitamins and fiber) than at home. Additional benefits for the heart, blood vessels and mood. A person who has just had a good dinner always has a good mood, doesn't it?

4. Sea air has a beneficial effect on the lungs

Shutterstock

And our ancestors knew this very well - to remember at least one who suffered from tuberculosis, whom we presumptuously rank among the ancestors. “The sea air contains practically all known mineral elements,” says Ekaterina Pushkova. - In composition, it is close to human blood plasma: it is a very physiological composition, and negative ionization helps microelements to comfortably penetrate the mucous membranes into human tissues and saturate them.

Inhalation with ionized air in a seaside resort occurs without discomfort, it is not perceived as a medical procedure. "

“The healing effect is moisturizing, relieving inflammation,” continues Ekaterina Pushkova. - Breathing in the fresh air of the sea is useful for those who suffer from tuberculosis and obstructive pulmonary disease (it would be nice if there were fewer of them, of course), recovering from pneumonia or bronchitis. But, of course, it is useful not only for lung diseases. Residents of megalopolises breathe polluted air with a high concentration of tar and exhaust gases, it maintains inflammation of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract, and the susceptibility to infections increases. The sea air suppresses inflammation, restores mucous membranes. "

The second explanation is offered by the American oceanographer, popularizer of science Wallace J. Nichols, author of the book "Blue Mind": he claims that the seascape has a calming effect on the psyche by itself.

The most understandable is the third scientific explanation associated with the familiar vitamin D. “This substance is involved in the synthesis of dopamine, which has a stimulating effect,” explains Mikhail Gavrilov. - Low dopamine levels are associated with poor motivation, lack of energy, problems with emotion control. It is no coincidence that seasonal spleen covers many in autumn and winter, when daylight hours are shortened and it is impossible to get a sufficient dose of vitamin D in the sun. Lack of vitamin D in adults can lead to seasonal affective disorder, depression, obesity and reduced immunity. ” So away from doubts - it's time to go to sea.

We have a lot of requirements for summer travel - cheap, warm and clean sea, parties and attractions. So you want a perfect vacation! We will tell you in which countries to look for it.

Cyprus

In Cyprus, everyone can find a resort to their liking. If you want to have fun and dance at the best parties, then no doubt you need to go to Ayia Napa. A quiet (maybe even too much) vacation awaits you in Protaras. Refined in European style, well-groomed and a little pretentious ... of course, Paphos! The most Russian resort is Limassol.

Stone of Aphrodite, Paphos

When to go?

Montenegro

This country is beautiful for many reasons: you do not need a visa, inexpensive prices for housing and food, there are mountains, the sea and historical cities, you can easily explain yourself in Russian. But avoid relaxing in Budva during the high season: you simply won't find a place for yourself on the beach. Instead, look for more secluded beaches in the vicinity.

Perast, Montenegro

When to go?

The peak season in Montenegro begins in the second half of June, when many tourists come and prices soar. It lasts until the 20th of August. At this time, it is better to choose secluded places. And from late August to mid-September in Montenegro it is very comfortable - the weather is still warm, and the flow of visitors and prices are falling. Closer to October, the nights are already getting cool, and you can get lucky with a beach holiday, or it can rain.

Where to go?

Italy

If you want to go to the sea in Italy, then be sure to go to Sicily! All along the Sicilian coastline there are many beautiful coves and most of the beaches are blue flagged. Fly to Catania, rent a car and go - don't miss Syracuse, Taormina, Messina, Cefalu, Palermo, Mondello.
