Prayer is an inexpressible sigh of the Holy Spirit. Interpretation of Rom. 8:26.27

    QUESTION FROM SERGEY
I have read your articles on the Holy Spirit and praying in tongues and I have a question: Rom. 8:26 “Likewise, the Spirit strengthens us in our weaknesses; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings inexpressible”. How to consider inexpressible sighs?

Let's try to figure out what the apostle Paul is talking about here.

Sometimes we pray more emotionally than with thoughtful words. This is the cry of the heart! But it happens that a person cries or experiences excitement and worries inside... He needs the help of the Lord, but he does not know what exactly to ask intensely... He kneels down and calls to the Creator! Man is ready to open his soul before the Lord!!! Emotions overwhelm him, it’s even difficult to speak ... and even more so to find the right words ...

There are also believers who have learned to trust God. They no longer ask the Creator for something specific, but pray that His will be done in their lives! Including that He solve some specific problem of their life, as He pleases ... Based on their experience, such believers know that their personal wishes may not lead to the best for themselves and those around them, and therefore they entrust everything into the hands of the Loving God.

And the Holy Spirit reinforces these believers, He knows our feelings and needs. Spirit knows what is best for us, what is in accordance with the will of God! He helps us by acting within us, directing our thoughts, repentance and desires to the Lord...

Rome. 8:27 "The tester hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints at will God's"

Here it is even more clearly seen that the Spirit, acting in our heart the more he intercedes for the believers, knowing will God's about us. In Holy Scripture, the result of the influence of the Holy Spirit on a person is called “spirituality” ... And prayer with the help of the Holy Spirit is called “prayer by the (Holy) Spirit” more than once in the New Testament (see the texts of Jude 20, Eph. 6:18, analyzed in the material )

Let's look at how Jesus Christ spoke about the Holy Spirit:

John. 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter (Intercessor) may it be with you forever”

In the original text, the word translated into Russian as the Comforter is represented by the Greek word “Parakletos” - having a translation intercessor, intercessor.

As you can see, in Rome. 8:26,27 The Holy Spirit is described as an intercessor, which Jesus foretold.

As for the words " sighs unspeakable"from verse 26 - other possible translations are groans inexpressible, inexpressible. These colorful epithets describe in symbolic allegorical language the experiences and efforts of the Holy Spirit in intercessory ministry in the hearts of believers.

Of course, here we are NOT talking about prayer in other tongues, this is not traced at all from the context of the chapter, and even more so of the entire New Testament, however, as well as the Old. That is, this does not mean that if we deliberately pray in an incomprehensible language, then the Holy Spirit will immediately come to the rescue in order to convey from us to God what He pleases with "sighs that cannot be expressed"...

Someone wise said, “If the heart does not pray, the tongue labors in vain”!

Reverend Moses Murin

Oh, the great power of repentance! O immeasurable depth of God's mercy! You, Reverend Moses, were formerly a robber. For us for the sake of man and for our sake of salvation, he descended from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became human. Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate and suffering and buried. And resurrected on the third day according to the Scriptures. And ascended into heaven, sitting at the right hand of the Father. And the packs of the future will wake up the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father. Part two. PRAYERS

Brief prayers

Every Orthodox Christian is obliged to pray daily, morning and evening, before eating and after eating food, before and after any work (for example: before teaching and after teaching, etc.).

In the morning we pray to thank God for keeping us last night, to ask for His Fatherly blessing and help for the day that has begun.

In the evening, before going to bed, we also thank the Lord for a well-spent day and ask us to keep us during the night.

In order for the work to be done successfully and safely, we must also, first of all, ask God for blessings and help for the upcoming work, and at the end, thank God.

To express our feelings for God and for His saints, the Church has given us various prayers. Here are the most common ones:

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

in name, in honor, in glory: Amen- true, true.

This prayer is called the initial prayer, because we say it before all prayers, at the beginning of prayers.

In it, we ask God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, that is, the Most Holy Trinity, to invisibly bless us for the upcoming work in His name.

QUESTIONS: What is the name of this prayer? Whom do we call in this prayer. What do we desire when we say (say) a prayer: In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit? What does amen mean?

We say this prayer at the beginning of each business.

QUESTION: What do we ask God in this prayer?

- be merciful, forgive.

This prayer is the most ancient and common among all Christians. Even a small child can easily remember it; we say it when we remember our sins. To the glory of the Holy Trinity, we Christians say this prayer three times. We also pronounce it 12 times, asking God for a blessing for every hour of the day and night; we pronounce it 40 times, for the consecration of our whole life.

Praise to the Lord God

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Praise to You, our God, praise to You.

In this prayer, we do not ask God for anything, but only praise Him. It can be said in short: God bless. It is pronounced at the end of the case as a sign of our gratitude to God for His mercy to us.

Publican's Prayer

God, have mercy on me a sinner.

God, be merciful to me a sinner.

Pharisee and publican in the temple at prayer

This prayer is the publican (tax collector), who repented of his sins and received forgiveness. It is taken from the parable of the Savior, which He once told people for their admonition. Here is the parable. Two people entered the temple to pray. One of them was a Pharisee, and the other was a publican. The Pharisee stood in front of everyone and prayed to God like this: I thank You, God, that I am not such a sinner as that publican. I give a tenth of my property to the poor, I fast twice a week. And the publican, realizing himself a sinner, stood at the entrance to the temple and did not dare to raise his eyes to heaven. He hit himself in the chest and said: God, be merciful to me a sinner! The prayer of a humble publican was more pleasing and pleasing to God than that of a proud Pharisee.

QUESTIONS: What is the name of this prayer? Where is it taken from? Tell this parable? Why is the publican's prayer more pleasing to God than the Pharisee's?

Prayer to Lord Jesus

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

- be merciful to us, forgive us. Jesus- Savior; Christ– Anointed; prayers for- for the sake of prayers, or by prayers.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God - the second Person of the Holy Trinity. As the Son of God, He is our true God, as are God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.

We call Him Jesus, that is savior because He saved us from sin and eternal death. For this, He, being the Son of God, dwelt in the immaculate Virgin Mary and, with the influx of the Holy Spirit, incarnated and made human by Her, that is, he took on a human body and soul - was born from the Blessed Virgin Mary, became the same person as we are, but only he was sinless - became a God-man. And instead of us suffering and being tormented for our sins, He, out of love for us sinners, suffered for us, died on the cross, and rose again on the third day, conquered sin and death, and gave us eternal life.

Realizing our sinfulness and not relying on the power of our prayers, in this prayer we ask you to pray for us sinners, before our Savior, all the saints and the Mother of God, who has special grace to save us sinners by His intercession for us before His Son.

Lord Jesus Christ

Our Savior is called the Anointed One (Christ) because He fully had those gifts of the Holy Spirit, which in the Old Testament, through anointing, were received by kings, prophets and high priests.

QUESTIONS: Who is the Son of God? What else do we call Him? Why do we call Him the Savior? How did He accomplish our salvation?

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, who is everywhere and fills everything, the treasure of the good and the Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls.

Heavenly King, Comforter Spirit of Truth, who is everywhere and fills everything, the source of all good and the Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all sin and save our souls, Good One.

- Tsar; Comforter– Comforter; Soul of truth– Spirit of Truth, Spirit of Truth; Izhe- Which; Syi- existing, located; fulfill all- all filling; treasure of the good- a treasury, a receptacle of all blessings, all goodness; life to the Giver– Giver of life; come and settle down- come and settle in us- in us; from all evil- from all impurity, that is, from all sins; Bliss- good, kind.

In this prayer we pray to the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Holy Trinity.

We call it the Holy Spirit King of Heaven because He, as the true God, equal to God the Father and God the Son, invisibly reigns over us, owns us and the whole world. Call Him Comforter because He comforts us in our sorrows and misfortunes, just as He comforted the apostles on the 10th day after the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven.

Call Him Spirit of truth, (as the Savior Himself called Him), because He, like the Holy Spirit, teaches everyone only one truth, truth, only that which is useful for us and serves for our salvation.

He is God, and He is everywhere and fills everything with Himself: ilk, everywhere present and fulfilling all. He, as the manager of the whole world, sees everything and, where necessary, gives. He is treasure of the good, that is, the keeper of all good deeds, the source of all the good that only we need to have.

We call the Holy Spirit life giver because everything in the world lives and moves by the Holy Spirit, that is, everything receives life from Him, and especially people receive from Him spiritual, holy and eternal life after the grave, being cleansed from their sins through Him.

If the Holy Spirit has such marvelous properties: He is everywhere, fills everything with His grace and gives life to everyone, then we turn to Him with the following requests: Come and settle in us, that is, constantly abide in us, as in your temple; cleanse us from all filth that is, sin, make us holy, worthy of Your presence in us, and save, Kind, our souls from sins and those punishments that are for sins, and through this grant us the Kingdom of Heaven.

QUESTIONS: To whom do we address this prayer? Holy Spirit what Person of the Holy Trinity? What is He called in this prayer? Why - the King of Heaven, the Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who is everywhere, filling everything? What are we asking Him for? What does it mean: come and dwell in us? and cleanse from all filth? and save, O God, our souls?

Angelic Hymn to the Most Holy Trinity, or "Trisagion"

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

- strong; immortal- undying, eternal.

it is called because the holy angels sing it, surrounding the throne of God in heaven. People who believe in Christ began to use it 400 years after the birth of Christ. There was a strong earthquake in Constantinople, from which houses and villages were destroyed. Frightened, Tsar Theodosius II and the people turned to God with a prayer. During this common prayer, one pious youth (boy) in front of everyone was lifted up to heaven by an invisible force, and then unharmed was lowered back to earth. He told the people around him that he heard in heaven how the holy angels sang: Holy God, holy Mighty, holy Immortal. The moved people, repeating this prayer, added: have mercy on us and the earthquake stopped.

In this prayer God we call the first Person of the Holy Trinity - God the Father; strong– God the Son, because He is just as omnipotent as God the Father, although according to humanity He suffered and died; Immortal- The Holy Spirit, because He is not only eternal Himself, like the Father and the Son, but also gives life to all creatures and immortal life to people.

The lad raised into the sky by an invisible force

during a common prayer in Constantinople

Since in this prayer the word saint repeated three times, then it is also called "trisagion".

QUESTIONS: To whom are we praying in this prayer? How many times is it supposed to be repeated? What is it called? Why is it called an angelic song? What is known about the origin of this prayer? Why is it also called "trisagion"?

Doxology to the Holy Trinity

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Praise be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now, always and forever. Amen.

- praise; now- Now; ever- Always; forever and ever forever, or forever.

In this prayer, we do not ask God for anything, but only praise Him, Who appeared to people in three Persons: the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, to whom now and forever belongs the same honor of glorification.

QUESTION: Who do we praise or praise in this prayer?

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake.

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord (Father), forgive us our sins; Lord (Son of God), forgive our iniquities; Holy (Spirit), visit us and heal our diseases, for the glorification of Your name.

- supremely holy; Trinity- Trinity, three Persons of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; sins and iniquities- our deeds, contrary to the will of God; visit- come; heal- heal; infirmities- weaknesses, sins; for your name- to glorify your name.

This prayer is pleading. In it, we first turn to all three Persons together, and then to each Person of the Trinity separately: to God the Father, so that He cleanses our sins; to God the Son, that He may forgive our iniquities; to God the Holy Spirit to visit and heal our infirmities.

And the words: for your name refer again to all three Persons of the Holy Trinity together, and since God is One, then His name is one, and therefore we say “Thy name”, and not “Thy names”.

QUESTIONS: What is this prayer? Who are we referring to? What do the words mean: cleanse our sins, forgive our iniquities, visit and heal our infirmities? To whom do we address when we say: for Your name's sake? What do these words mean?

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven!

1. Hallowed be thy name.

2. Thy kingdom come.

3. Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth.

4. Give us our daily bread today.

5. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

6. And lead us not into temptation.

7. But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Our Heavenly Father!

1. Hallowed be thy name.

2. Thy kingdom come.

3. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

4. Give us our daily bread for this day.

5. And forgive us our sins, as we also forgive those who have sinned against us.

6. And do not allow us to temptation.

7. But deliver us from the evil one.

Because to You belongs the kingdom, the power and the glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

- Father; Izhe- Which; Thou art in heaven- Which is in heaven, or heavenly; Yes- let be; sanctified- glorified: like- How; in heaven- in the sky; urgent- necessary for existence; give me- give; today- today, today; leave- sorry; debts- sins; our debtor– those people who have sinned against us; temptation- temptation, danger of falling into sin; crafty- all cunning and evil, that is, the devil. The devil is an evil spirit.

This prayer is called Lord's because the Lord Jesus Christ Himself gave it to His disciples when they asked Him to teach them how to pray. Therefore, this prayer is the most important prayer of all.

In this prayer we turn to God the Father, the first Person of the Holy Trinity.

It is divided into: invocation, seven petitions, or 7 requests, and doxology.

Summoning: Our Father, Who art in heaven! With these words, we turn to God and, calling Him the Heavenly Father, we call to listen to our requests, or petitions.

When we say that He is in heaven, we must understand spiritual, invisible sky, and not that visible blue vault that is spread over us, and which we call "sky".

Request 1st: May your name be hallowed, that is, help us to live righteously, holyly and glorify Your name with our holy deeds.

2nd: Let Your Kingdom Come that is, make us worthy even here on earth of your kingdom of heaven, which is truth, love and peace; reign in us and rule over us.

3rd: May Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth, that is, let everything not be as we want, but as You please, and help us to obey this Your will and fulfill it on earth as unquestioningly, without grumbling, as it is fulfilled, with love and joy, by the holy angels in heaven . Because only You know what is useful and necessary for us, and You wish us well more than we ourselves.

4th: Give us our daily bread today, that is, give us for this day, for today, our daily bread. Bread here means everything necessary for our life on earth: food, clothing, shelter, but most importantly, the most pure Body and precious Blood in the sacrament of Holy Communion, without which there is no salvation, no eternal life.

The Lord commanded us to ask ourselves not for wealth, not for luxury, but only for the most necessary things, and to rely on God in everything, remembering that He, as a Father, always takes care of us.

5th: And leave us our debts, as we also leave our debtors that is, forgive us our sins just as we ourselves forgive those who offended or offended us.

In this petition, our sins are called “our debts”, because the Lord gave us strength, abilities and everything else in order to do good deeds, and we often turn all this into sin and evil and become “debtors” before God. And so, if we ourselves do not sincerely forgive our “debtors,” that is, people who have sins against us, then God will not forgive us. Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself told us about this.

6th: And lead us not into temptation. Temptation is such a state when something or someone draws us to sin, tempts us to do something lawless and bad. So, we ask - do not allow us to temptation, which we cannot endure; help us overcome temptations when they come.

7th: But deliver us from the evil one, that is, deliver us from all evil in this world and from the culprit (chief) of evil - from the devil (evil spirit), who is always ready to destroy us. Deliver us from this cunning, crafty power and its deceptions, which is nothing before You.

Doxology: For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

For to you, our God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, belongs the kingdom, and the power, and eternal glory. All this is true, truly so.

QUESTIONS: Why is this prayer called the Lord's Prayer? To whom are we addressing this prayer? How does she share? How to translate in Russian: Who art thou in heaven? How to convey in your own words the 1st petition: Hallowed be Thy Name? 2nd: May your kingdom come? 3rd: Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth? 4th: Give us our daily bread today? 5th: And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors? 6th: And lead us not into temptation? 7th: But deliver us from the evil one? What does the word amen mean?

According to the ancient Aramaic religion, angels are divided according to their belonging to one of the four elements: fire, earth, water and air. Each of them has its own army: kings, princes, satraps, dukes, ministers, legions of spirits, consisting of hundreds of units. Under the authority of these angels, everything that exists on earth: animals, plants, minerals, metals and, of course, man. Having learned in more detail about what temperament, character traits your elemental patron angels have, you may get to know yourself better, determine the strengths and weaknesses of your business partner, spouse, child.

This article talks in detail about the character, demeanor, appearance, habits of each person, depending on which sign of the Zodiac and, therefore, the angel of the elements, he was born under.

According to the Japanese and Chinese calendars, a person is patronized by the angel in whose year the person happened to be born, respectively, according to the year of birth, you can determine your protector angel and ask him for help.

Elemental Angels.

There is nothing in the world, not even grass, over which the spirit would not dominate.

Holy Scripture informs us that God created everything and gave names to both people and things, indicated their purpose and determined their properties and qualities. Therefore, signs and star names have nothing to do with either form or sound, but depend entirely on the power and quality that God or nature has in them.

Neither in heaven nor on earth is there a single being that does not come from God. Without His will, nothing can be done, delivered, or put into action.

God has absolute wisdom, followed by the wisdom of spiritual beings (angels, spirits) and only then beings clothed in flesh. The fourth and last stage of wisdom is with nature and objects related to it.

The Bible tells us that God teaches people everything that is useful to them, what they should avoid and strive for. God's instructions are given to people by holy spirits and angels. Much, of course, depends on a person's faith in God. Everything becomes possible and achievable if he himself believes and wishes, and impossible if he doubts and does not want. This means that a person should be pious, honest, firm in his words and even more so in actions, have a firm faith in God, and be prudent.

Even the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle said that the basis of everything that exists in the world are four basic qualities: heat, moisture, dryness and cold.

Aristotle's theory was developed by Democritus, who argued that in the boundless space of many worlds, only the primary atoms of the four main elements remain unchanged: fire, air, spirit, water and earth. Each of these elements has two permanent qualities (according to Aristotel): fire - warmth and dryness, air - warmth and humidity, water - humidity and cold, earth - dryness and cold.

The elements are not four different matters. Rather, they can be called four different states of matter. Of course, you know that each substance can have several states of aggregation. For example, oxygen in its normal state is a gaseous substance, but under certain conditions it can be both liquid and solid. In each of the states there is a different amount of warmth, movement, active principle.

All elements have their own soul and life. Each of them has its own angel - a kind, pure force: the angel of air is Michael, the angel of water is Gabriel, the angel of fire is Gafael, the angel of earth is Uriel. In the power of the angels of the elements is nature itself, including man as an integral part of it.

Thus, nature and man are a collection of particles of the four elements under the general control of the angels of the elements, and through them God himself.

Particles of the earth have hardness and inertness. Their features are passivity, the ability to keep the form, the desire to preserve it, non-plasticity.

Uriel (earth angel) loves autumn, west, sweet and volatile smell. In the human body, earth particles are solid structures: bones, tendons, nails, hair, skin.

Water particles have plasticity, susceptibility, the ability to take any shape (for example, the shape of the container in which it is poured), to resist pressure, although not as resistant as earth particles.

Gabrielle (angel of water) loves winter, north, salty taste and rotten smell. Water particles in the human body are gland secretions, mucous membranes, blood plasma, cellular protoplasm.

The properties of air particles are mobility, the ability to move, multi-layeredness, multiplicity, lightness, aspiration upwards, the ability to seep through any gap.

Michael (an-gel of the air) loves spring, the east, sour taste and pungent aroma. In the human body, Air particles are associated with the nervous system.

If water, air and earth are considered as states of matter, then fire is more a process than a state.

Fire is pure activity, pure heat, the more heat, the more fire, activity. The maximum fire is light, the maximum speed, the maximum movement are associated with it.

Raphael (angel of fire) loves summer, south, bitter taste and pungent smell. Particles of fire in the human body are associated with the processes of metabolism and metabolism, the digestive system, the retina of the eyes, and the gray matter of the brain.

Below is a table that combines information about the angels of the elements.

The signs of the Zodiac are closely related to the elements.

The elements of fire include the signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius;

To the elements of the earth - Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo;

To the elements of air - Libra, Aquarius and Gemini;

To the elements of water - Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

Each element in the Zodiac is represented by three qualities - activity, stability and changeability. They largely determine the type of behavior, adaptability to circumstances, the temperament of a person born under one or another sign of the Zodiac, therefore, under the auspices of an angel of one of the four elements.

According to the type of behavior and adaptability to circumstances, all signs of the Zodiac can be divided into:

a) static - Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. The angels of the elements, patronizing them, direct them to their goal, endow them with stubbornness, patience and endurance, thanks to which they manage to achieve a lot. For them, the future is of great interest, since the main thing for them is to achieve their goal (by any means, for any period of time). These people are reliable, but stubborn, if they have already thought of something, it is difficult to convince them otherwise;

b) floating - Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces and Virgo. The angels endowed them with a lively mind, experience in various areas of life, the ability to easily adapt to the surrounding circumstances. Among the negative qualities, one should mention some nervousness, inability to live in the present;

c) cardinal - Capricorn, Libra, Cancer, Aries. The patron angels of these signs endowed them with the ability to directly influence circumstances, realistically assess the situation and foresee opportunities for further action.

The temperament of a person also depends on the properties of character and the temperament of the angel of the elements that guards him.

a) The Angel of Fire Gafael is aggressive, determined, hot and quick-tempered, quick-witted, quick and impulsive, has creative abilities, but is also too impatient, self-confident, stubborn and contradictory. His close friend has always been and remains the angel of the air - Michael, he supports, kindles the fire. Gafael also gets along with Uriel, the angel of the earth, but at the same time, each of them remembers that the earth can cool the fire, and the fire can burn the earth.

Gafael's behavior largely depends on his mood: getting angry, inflamed, he turns into a fireball, into a flame that nothing can extinguish, appease. In this state, he can do a lot of trouble. Calm, Gafael is an evenly burning fire, obedient, stable, serving faithfully, helping, creating. Gafael is quick-tempered, his behavior changes easily, his mood and state too: he can turn into lightning or an awakened volcano.

Gafael endows people born under his patronage with the appropriate temperament, appearance, even certain professions and diseases.

Gafael loves large spaces, on which you can roam, where there is a lot of air; any restriction, lack of air suppresses and angers the fire even more.

The good spirit of fire, which brings good luck, is the sala-mandra, which, according to legend, lives in fire.

Each of the angels of the elements acts together with their spirits, according to their own desire, if God does not oppose it. An angel can direct spirits to a person who obey him, his requests, prayers. Sometimes this happens even when the person himself refuses the protection of spirits.

Prayer to salamanders (spirits of fire).

Eternal, uncreated Father of all things! Non-existent in a chariot, moving worlds that revolve incessantly. The ruler of the boundless ether, where the throne of Your might rises, from the height of which, everything is open to Your formidable eyes. Hear me, for Your golden, great and eternal majesty shines over the world, the sky and the stars. You rise above the world, O blazing fire! You kindle life in us, inexhaustible sources of light come from Your essence. You have also created beings who miraculously resemble Your thought and Your essence. You placed them above the angels who proclaim the truth to the world. You created us, Praise be to You! Do not deprive me of your mercy, your wonderful light, send me your spirits so that they help to know the soul, spirit and harmony of things around me. Amen.

b) The angel of the earth Uriel is distinguished by practicality, reasonable behavior, does not like to fantasize, on the contrary, she prefers to call everything by its proper name, and requires the same in relation to itself from other angels, spirits and people. Uriel is proud and independent, always ready to give good advice, a little secretive, boring, stingy, stubborn and cruel.

He is friends with Gabriel (the angel of water), who keeps him alive, nourishes, because the earth should not turn into a lifeless desert. Uriel maintains a relationship with both Gafael (the angel of fire) and Michael (the angel of air) on the condition that he manages to endure Gafael's sudden fun and endure Michael's hurricanes.

Uriel can be secretive, loving loneliness, preferring to act from behind the scenes, through intermediaries, and himself to remain in the shadows, not entering the arena of events. Sometimes he becomes strong, unshakable, like a rock, until a volcano wakes up in him. That's when he becomes active, able to redo a lot of things.

He feels calm and comfortable only in his element, on earth, loves gardens and parks.

Spirits of the earth, bringing good luck - gnomes; some live in an inconspicuous mink. Having made friends with a person, a gnome can also live in a greenhouse, in a box with indoor plants.

Prayer to the gnomes (spirits of the earth).

The Invisible One, who took the Earth as a support, dug up the abysses to fill them with His might! You, whose name makes the vaults of the world tremble, Who directs the currents of seven metals through stone veins. Ruler of the seven worlds, rewarding the work of miners, lead me to the desired air to the kingdom of light. Oh Lord! Oh silvery whiteness! Oh golden glitter! You who wear the sky on Your finger like a sapphire ring. Live, rule, be the eternal manager of treasures, send me Your spirits so that they become my patrons, faithful helpers and defenders. Amen.

c) The angel of the air Michael is cheerful, agile, quick-witted, talkative, easily makes contact, sociable. He is prone to interpretations, explanations, logical arguments, one or two interesting plans constantly ripen in his head, he is reasonable and loves freedom. The negative features of Michael are stubbornness, talkativeness, self-will, sometimes promiscuity.

He gets along better than others with Gafael (the angel of fire), can maintain relations with both Uriel and Gabriel, if they do not oppose his will, they are not afraid of the wind.

Michael is now cold, calm, then becomes warm, and sometimes both at once. Suddenly he can calm down, turn invisible, and then he experiences pressure or influence from outside, he lurks and waits for the right moment to break free again, frolic and make himself known to an unsuspecting world.

Michael loves open spaces, rooms with a lot of space, windows, feels best in freedom, gets nervous if something restricts his movements, actions, if someone forces him to do something he doesn't like.

Good spirits of the air - helpers of Michael - sylphs who prefer to live in places where there is a lot of air (in parks, gardens).

Prayer to the sylphs (spirits of the air).

Air Spirit! Spirit of Wisdom! Whose breath gives form to every thing. Thou before Whom the life of beings is but a changing shadow or a vanishing vapour! Your breath inhabits endless spaces. May You be forever blessed! I exalt Thee, unceasingly strive for Thy unshakable and imperishable radiance. I beg You, send me by Your mercy a spirit that will become for me the ray of Your mind, the warmth of Your love. Then everything mobile will be affirmed, determined, the shadow will become a body, the air will turn into a soul, a dream into a thought. Oh, spirit, become my guardian, protect and direct my deeds and thoughts. Oh, Inhaling and Exhaling everything that exists in the ebb and flow of Your eternal word, which is the ocean of Divine movement and truth! Amen.

d) The water angel Gabriel is emotional, sensitive, but has a wonderful gift to find a way out of any situation, seep through any obstacles, very receptive to the moods of other angels and people who have earned his patronage and protection. He perfectly feels the mood of people, the gift of foresight and foreboding never fails him.

Gabrielle simply cannot live without Uriel, because the earth needs water as a container. Gabrielle and Gafael do not get along at all, but even friendship is possible with Michael if he is not afraid of fog and clouds.

The water angel is sometimes too irritable, stormy or, conversely, lazy. If it is energetic, indomitable, then it turns into steam, and the next minute it can become ice, cold, hiding desires, freezing one's own and other people's feelings. Turning into underground water, it easily evades failures and overcomes any obstacles in its path, and most importantly, gains the ability to move forward, defeat enemies by flooding them.

Gabrielle loves peace and quiet, for this he needs a constant connection with his element (with the seas, oceans, rivers, even with the water that fills the pool or aquarium).

The patron spirits subordinate to Gabrielle are undines, mermaids who love open and calm water bodies without thresholds and barriers.

Prayer to undines (water spirits).

Terrible lord of the sea! You, who hold the keys of heavenly streams and hold underground waters in caves, the King of the flood and spring rains, who open the sources of rivers and springs, command moisture, which is the blood of the earth, become the juice of plants. I bow to You and I pray to You. Speak to me during the turbulence of the sea, speak to me with the murmur of clear waters, do not leave me with Your mercy, help and protect.

Oh, the immensity in which the streams of the reborn being are lost. O ocean of infinite perfections, the height in the depth of which You are reflected, and the depth that disappears in the height. Lead me to real life through mind and love, protect me from misfortunes, save me from misfortunes and delusions. Amen.

Due to the duty of work, one often has to look through a considerable number of samples of icons on the Internet, in the materials accumulated over a considerable time on the computer, as well as especially looking at live icons in different churches. Very often one has to see icons, if they can be called icons, with the image of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. It seems to be nothing strange, nothing seductive .. But this is only up to the time. Until you begin to consciously ask yourself and those around you: “What is the meaning of such an icon? And where does she come from in Orthodoxy? In response, there is only one argument: "tradition", well, the argument "pre-schism tradition" is even stronger, and not a shadow of theological justification, interpretation of the image.

It's kind of weird how we talk. All pre-split traditions are correct, post-split ones are in question. But really, before the schism, they couldn’t be mistaken, was it really possible that icon painters for all 16 centuries had not one bad influence either from the west or from the east?

What exactly is the question regarding the depiction of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove? The gospel story tells us that the Holy Spirit appeared in the form of a dove only at the Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit did not take on the nature of a dove, but appeared in the form of a dove. On the day of Pentecost He already appears in the form of fiery tongues. After all, it would never occur to anyone to write a bonfire or fire on icons and hang such icons in churches, paint the walls of cathedrals with such images? Everyone will say with confidence that this is blasphemy! And he will be right! But isn't it blasphemy to write a dove on icons and sign what is written - "The Holy Spirit"? We will not turn to the history of the image, it is clear that it did not come to us from good neighbors. And let's turn for theological help to one of the great teachers of the Church - John Chrysostom, we read:

Why did the Holy Spirit appear in the form of a dove? Because the dove is a meek and pure animal. And as the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of meekness, He appeared in this form.In addition, such a phenomenon reminds us of ancient history. When the general flood enveloped the entire universe, and our race was in danger of complete extermination, then this bird appeared and made it known that the flood had stopped, and, bringing an olive branch, brought the good news of universal silence in the universe. All this was a foreshadowing of the future. Then people were in a worse condition, and they deserved much more punishment. Therefore, so that you do not despair,

Baptism of the Lord, Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, 15th century

Scripture brings you to this story. And at that time, despite the most desperate state of affairs, there was some deliverance fromdisaster and recovery; then it happened by punishment, and now by grace and a gift that is inexpressible. Therefore, the dove does not appear with an olive branch, but points us to the Liberator from all evils and gives good hopes. She brings not only one person out of the ark, but she raises the whole universe to heaven, and instead of an olive branch, she brings adoption to the whole human race. Imagine the greatness of this gift, do not diminish in your thoughts the dignity of the Holy Spirit just because He appeared in such an image. I have heard some people say that the difference between Christ and the Holy Spirit is the same as between a man and a dove, because He ishe was in human nature, but this one was in the form of a dove. What should be said to that? The fact that the Son of God took on human nature, but the Holy Spirit did not take on the nature of a dove. Therefore, the evangelist did not say: in the nature of a dove, but in the form of a dove. Yes, except for this case, after He never appeared in such an image. Further, if for this reason alone you consider Him lesser in dignity, then for the same reason the cherubim themselves will be better than Him, and moreover, as many times as an eagle is more excellent than a dove, because they appeared in the form of an eagle. Also, the angels will be better than Him, because they often appeared in human form. But let it not be, let it not be!” (John Chrysostom, commentary on the gospel of Matthew, conversation 12, part 3.)

Neither subtract nor add.

“Therefore, the dove does not appear with an olive branch” On many icons, icon painters depicted a dove with an olive branch under the guise of the Holy Spirit.

“I have heard some people say that there is the same difference between Christ and the Holy Spirit as there is between a man and a dove.”

After Chrysostom, this was not only talked about, but already boldly portrayed by the 10-11 centuries in such icons as, “The Throne”, “The New Testament Trinity”. But more on that in another.

“Yes, except for this case, after He never appeared in such an image” Therefore, it is worth depicting Him only in the plot in which He thus appeared.

“Imagining the greatness of this gift, do not diminish in your thoughts the dignity of the Holy Spirit just because He appeared in such an image ... Further, if for this reason alone you consider Him lesser in dignity, then for the same reason the cherubim will be better than Him, and moreover as much as an eagle is superior to a dove, because they appeared in the form of eagles. Also, the angels will be better than Him, because they often appeared in human form. But let it not be, let it not be!”

Here, it seems to me, the saint speaks of those who argued in this way, that since the Holy Spirit appeared as a dove to John, then therefore He is less than Christ in dignity. Otherwise, what then does Chrysostom speak about if not about this? This is what people’s reasoning alone led to ... If we consider icon painting to be a sermon in colors, or better to say the teaching of the Church in colors, then is it right to give people such a temptation? The temptation that a person may be tempted not only to belittle the dignity of the Holy Spirit in his consciousness, but also for the rest of his life after such “icons” while praying to the Most Holy Trinity to pray to a dove, and not to the Spirit?
