Strawberries are a very responsive culture for top dressing. Therefore, in order for it to grow strong, healthy and give a good harvest, every spring I make sure to feed my entire small strawberry plantation with chicken manure. Chicken manure is amazing fast acting organic fertilizer, and strawberries respond very well to its application.

There is a poultry farm not far from my dacha, so buying chicken manure is no problem for me. Not surprisingly, that's what I mostly use.

I use strawberries for spring feeding solution fresh chicken manure, but if you do not have it, then you can use other organic and mineral fertilizers.

Spring top dressing must be carried out on time.
In our area (Altai), this time is coming in the middle of May. By this time, the bushes are already wake up after hibernation, and there is an active growth of young leaves, but strawberry blossom has not yet begun.

If you feed the strawberries earlier, the effect will be less, because a lot of the nitrogen needed just at that time will evaporate from the soil and will not be absorbed by dormant plants. And if you do it later, then strawberries at the spring stage of their development will not receive nitrogen in time, and the growth of leaves, buds and flowers will slow down, which can lead to a delay in the onset of the crop and even to its decrease.

At my dacha, all the honorable work with chicken manure is entrusted to me. In advance (a day before), I water the entire strawberry plantation, or do top dressing after the rain that has passed the day before. It is important that by this time the soil is sufficiently moist.

It is not difficult to prepare a feeding solution from fresh chicken manure. All it takes is a bucket of 10-12 liters and an ordinary watering can (5-10 liters) from which the sprayer is removed. From a tank with stocks of fresh chicken manure with a special ladle (it is not used for anything else), I put the allotted portion (0.5-0.7 l) into the bucket so that the concentration of the solution is 1 to 15-20, and I supplement the bucket with plain water . I take water not from the water supply, but from the irrigation tank, where there is settled (not chlorinated) water, and not cold, but heated in the sun.

Then I carefully stir the contents of the bucket, for this I use old rakes on the handle.

Ready solution straightaway(without insisting) I carefully pour from a bucket into a watering can, and from it I water strawberry beds.

I water slowly, without rushing, evenly directing the stream of the solution between strawberry bushes from all sides, but not closer 5-10 cm from each plant.

I dump the thick remaining on the bottom somewhere under raspberries or currants.

The consumption of the solution for adult strawberries (two to three years old) is one bucket for 6-8 bushes, and for a young (one-year-old) - 1 bucket per bed of 24-26 bushes. As soon as the strawberry bed is fed, I collect clean water in another watering can and pour strawberry bushes right on top to wash off drops of solution that accidentally fall on the leaves.

This work is not difficult, and things move quickly. The whole procedure has one small minus - the whole process is accompanied by a unique and unforgettable aroma of fresh chicken manure. But for me, it doesn't annoy me at all. Probably, I got used to this smell since my childhood, which was spent in the village with my grandparents. And I remember that then, as a special encouragement, they sometimes even trusted me to take care of chickens and geese!

But still, when working with a solution, you should try don't splash yourself. It is also advisable to wear clothes for this procedure. special. Drops of chicken manure, if it hits a worker, of course, will not bring him any harm, except for a persistent specific smell, which lasts a long time. Therefore, after such work, I always prepare a bathhouse for myself, and send my work clothes to the laundry.

But all the unpleasant sensations and smells of chicken manure are completely forgotten when you see the results of such feeding. Strawberry activated incredibly and begins to grow simply by leaps and bounds! Bushes throw out a lot of buds, from which magnificent strawberry flowers bloom.

In my opinion, it is quite possible to admire them, especially when you know what will grow out of them! Before you have time to look back, an abundant ovary appears, and there are the first very, very large and ripe berries!

And thanks to top dressing, the crop as a whole also does not disappoint!

To get a high yield of sweet berries, it needs to be fed starting in spring. Despite the abundance of all kinds of chemical fertilizers, organic fertilizers are much more effective - manure, humus and bird droppings (chicken, pigeon, goose). Chicken manure is quite popular with gardeners, since many farmsteads contain poultry. This is the most affordable type of organic fertilizer.

Feeding strawberries in spring with chicken manure

Chicken manure is a source of nitrogen, which is found in large quantities. In the spring, strawberries are fed with a weak solution of chicken manure when young leaves begin to appear. Such top dressing will be quite enough for the plant to receive the nutrition necessary for the growth and formation of large berries. How to prepare a fertilizer solution? It is important to observe the proportion of litter and water: for 1 part of dry litter, take 20 parts of water (or more).

It is good to feed strawberries growing on light soils with chicken manure in the spring, and if it is clay or loam, it is better to apply the chicken manure solution in the fall. During the period of fruiting and flowering, strawberries are not fed with chicken manure.

According to the principle and effectiveness, chicken compost can be compared with complex mineral fertilizer. Moreover, you can feed the strawberries in the spring, and the next top dressing is made only next year. Since there is a gradual release of nutrients from the litter, the effect of top dressing will last 2-3 years.

How to breed chicken manure for feeding strawberries

Since this type of organic fertilizer has a high concentration, it is necessary to follow certain rules when using it as a top dressing. It is not used fresh, because the high content of uric acid burns the root system of plants.

Nitrogen and phosphorus are contained in a high concentration, to reduce which the litter is left in the open air for a long time. The remaining substances in chicken manure are enough to effectively feed strawberries in the spring.

Fresh manure can be used to make a liquid fertilizer infusion for strawberries and other crops. A liter of fresh chicken manure is dissolved in 20 liters and the liquid is left to ferment for 10 days without covering the container. Strawberry aisles are shed with this infusion, preferably after rain.

Feeding strawberries during flowering with chicken droppings

After watering with such an infusion, the condition of the strawberry bushes noticeably improves after a few weeks. It will take 2-3 days to prepare it. The rotted chicken manure is poured with water and stirred. The infusion should have a faint shade, if it turned out to be saturated, water should be added.

The crucial moment is soaking the litter. To remove excess acid from chicken or other bird droppings, it is soaked. It is necessary to fill the litter with water, after 2 days it is drained and re-filled with clean water. In this way, the litter is rid of toxins and uric acid. The resulting substrate must be buried in a furrow made between the rows of strawberries.

Care for strawberries in early spring

Spring care for strawberries ensures the success of the future harvest by 80%, which is why it is so important to help the plant recover after a long winter.

Care for strawberries in early spring

Experienced gardeners know how to care for strawberries in the spring. The process usually includes the following activities:

  1. first they wait until the threat of frost has passed, and the bushes will finally “thaw out”;
  2. then dry and frozen leaves are removed;
  3. remove the layer of mulch laid in the fall - this will allow the root system to warm up faster, and the plants to grow;
  4. the final stage is the removal of weeds and loosening.

As you can see, the procedure is simple, but processing strawberries in early spring is simply necessary, otherwise it will not bring a generous harvest.

Spring top dressing of strawberries - how to fertilize

When the spring processing of strawberries is completed, including the basic care procedures, you can start feeding the plants in your area.

The further south your region is, the earlier you need to start fertilizing:

  • for areas with mild winters and a warm climate, for example, Moscow, this is done in mid-late April;
  • for the northern zones, including the Urals - a little later, approximately in the middle of May.

For these activities to be effective, it is important to clearly know the flowering time of the varieties that grow in your area, and understand how to care for strawberries.

The fact is that if you fertilize the plants too early, the nutrients will quickly go into the ground, and nothing will get to the bushes during the flowering period. If strawberry feeding takes place later than necessary, the harvest may be delayed, or even completely scarce.

In addition, it should be noted that on different soils this crop may respond differently to tuki. This is understandable, because the composition of the soil can vary significantly in different areas, and sometimes even in one area. Therefore, you should carefully consider the choice of the composition of the top dressing, which is planned to process strawberries in the spring.

Tuki - minerals that saturate the soil. They are mixed into the soil to restore the nutrients necessary for the plants to develop properly, as they are depleted over time, especially when growing vegetable crops.

What top dressing is needed for strawberries?

The main minerals needed for the growth of strawberries are, first of all, potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus:

  • Nitrogen is responsible for the taste of berries and for their size, but its excess, on the contrary, makes the fruit less sweet. With a deficiency of this mineral, the leaves turn red.
  • Potassium is very important, like feeding strawberries in the spring, because its content in berries increases their shelf life, and increases sugar content and sweetness. If you notice that the tips of the leaves on the bushes have turned yellow, you should know that the plant clearly lacks potassium.
  • Phosphorus takes part in the processes of growth and development of roots, its deficiency adversely affects the endurance of the plant. The lack of phosphorus is manifested by the color of the leaves in a dark green or reddish color.

Tuks are inorganic:

  • nitrogen: ammonium nitrate, urea;
  • potassium: potassium sulfate, potassium nitrate;
  • phosphoric: superphosphates.

Organic fertilizers for strawberries in the spring contain nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus, and are also environmentally friendly. They have a positive effect on soil properties and growth, although the berries do not grow as large as when making inorganic top dressings.

These include:

  • wood ash;
  • manure;
  • humus;
  • chicken manure.

There are also complex fertilizers - most often ready-made mixtures containing a balanced complex of nutrients. They should be used according to the instructions on the package, which indicate the timing of application and dosage.

Here are some of them:

  • Ammophos;
  • Diammophos;
  • Nitroammophoska;
  • Nitrophoska.

The most convenient are complex ones, but if you prefer to set the norms of fertilizing yourself, remember that fats are applied in combination: that is, nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus in combination with each other. Only nitrogen, if necessary, is added separately, since it is especially important to regulate its content in the soil.

Periods and methods of fertilizing for strawberries

In season, strawberry beds need 3 top dressings at different periods of their development:

  1. It is best to apply the first fertilizer for strawberries in the spring, when the hard winter time is behind, and the season of active flowering and fruiting is ahead;
  2. Then - immediately after harvest;
  3. The final stage is feeding strawberries in the fall, around mid-September, to help the bushes resist diseases, pests, and endure the winter well.

Remember that usually this culture grows in one place for 4 years in a row, then old bushes need to be replaced with young ones.

Fertilization according to the strawberry life cycle

In the first year, young strawberries, as a rule, are not fertilized, since fertilizing is applied to the soil immediately before planting the bushes.

In the second year, care for strawberries in the spring, before flowering, will help such a potassium-phosphorus mixture: humus and water 5: 1, add 150 g of potassium sulfate (or potassium nitrate) and 60 g of superphosphate. Consumption - 1 bucket per 3-4m (watering in the grooves between the rows). In the future, potassium-phosphorus fertilizers are applied again in the second half of the growing season in the same dosage.

Nitrogen fats can be omitted this year if they have already been added during planting. It is also not recommended to make them in the spring, before flowering, as this will negatively affect fruiting.

Fertilizing with nitrogen later than August worsens the winter hardiness of plants. But after harvesting, you can just add:

  • ammonium nitrate: it is either scattered on the site at the rate of 1 kg per 100 square meters, or diluted in water (20-30 g per 10 liters of water), which is watered on the site at the rate of 0.5 liters per plant. When watering, make sure that the solution does not get on the leaves.
  • urea at a dosage of 1 tablespoon of dry fertilizer per bucket of water, solution consumption - 0.5 liters per bush.

In the third or fourth year, strawberry care consists in feeding only with inorganic fertilizers using the above methods.

Strawberry spring care. Top dressing with organic fertilizers

If your strawberries are grown in small volumes “for yourself”, and the farm has enough manure and bird droppings, then it is quite possible to get by with organic fertilizers only.

Manure, humus, chicken manure, and wood ash are natural sources of potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen. It is enough to fertilize strawberries with them once at the beginning of the season during spring processing, throughout all 4 years of growth.

  • Manure and humus are simply scattered over the site after harvesting the beds in the spring, consumption - no more than 5 kg per 1 sq. m, then the soil should be loosened.
  • How to process strawberries with wood ash in spring: you can dry it, pouring a handful under each bush, or diluted - 1 glass of ash per 1 liter of hot water, let it brew for a day, then bring it to 10 liters with water, and water at the rate of 1 liter of solution per 1 sq. .m earth.
  • Chicken manure is more convenient to use in solution: 0.7 l of fresh manure per 10 l of warm settled water. Solution consumption - 10 liters per 6-8 bushes for a mature plant, and 24-26 for a young one.

Outcome

So, what to do with strawberries in spring? Care and top dressing is what is necessary for the full growth of this beloved garden culture. She can not do without additional nutrition, which will significantly increase productivity, resistance to diseases, pests, as well as adverse environmental factors.

Fragrant and juicy strawberries are a welcome berry in every country house. Gardeners are trying to occupy large areas with plantings, since the yield, most often, leaves much to be desired. High yields are possible with proper agricultural technology and care. Fertilizing is a necessary process, and fertilized beds in time will respond with a healthy berry and a decent harvest. Fertilizing strawberries is an activity that needs special attention.

The need for top dressing

Despite the quality of the soil, the variety of strawberries, the region in which your garden is located, high-quality and systematic feeding of the berries is necessary for several reasons. The main reasons include:

  • increase in yield;
  • improving the quality of the berry;
  • disease resistance;
  • improvement in taste.

In addition, fertilizer will give you a chance to reduce the volume of beds, and not lose the amount of the crop. So, the number of worries will decrease, and there will be more time that can be devoted to other cultures.

Strawberries, after spraying with some formulations, are less likely to get sick, and fertilized in time and do not get sick at all. This is especially noticeable in the mass cultivation of strawberries by gardeners or farmers.

Warning! The number of top dressings and dosage must be observed, otherwise, you can spoil the new crop, or saturate the berry with harmful substances.

Basic top dressing

Strawberry feeding can be divided into several main periods:

  • spring;
  • at the beginning of fruiting;
  • when transplanting;
  • autumn.

By observing the order of feeding, correctly using certain microelements, you will maximize the possibilities of your plantings, save yourself from unnecessary worries, and surprise your neighbors with the amount of healthy and fresh berries.

Top dressing with ash

Feeding strawberries with ash is the easiest and most affordable method of feeding. Wood ash has been used in horticulture for centuries. It is a source of potassium, calcium and phosphorus. Organic fertilizer contains up to 30 trace elements that are very important for plants. Little ash is required for strawberries, and it reacts with the soil for a long time, releasing beneficial properties, and nourishes the plant.

Wood ash practically does not contain nitrogen, which means that it does not work to increase the green mass of the plant. This allows you to fertilize strawberries during fruiting and autumn growth of new buds.

In the spring, or when transplanting, wood ash plays the role of a catalyst for nitrogen fertilizers. Therefore, during the season, fertilizer will always come in handy.

Wood ash feeding schedule

Performing work according to this schedule, strawberries will always be protected from external weather and technical changes, even in harsh climates.

  1. As soon as the night temperature is not lower than +8 0 С, and the plant starts to wake up, it is necessary to remove last year's dry leaves. After loosening the beds, you need to close up 1 tbsp of dry wood ash to each root. It is better to do this in combination with the addition of nitrogen fertilizers to the soil.
  2. When transplanting, or planting young bushes, wood ash must be applied to the soil and mixed with the soil. For 1 m 2 you need no more than 0.5 liters of dry ash.
  3. The beginning of strawberry fruiting must be stimulated. This will increase productivity. As soon as the first ovaries appear, it is necessary to loosen the soil, pour the bed with settled water, and then pour it with a solution of water with ash. For 10 liters of water you need 3 tablespoons of ash. Plants can be watered from above from a watering can, in addition to fertilizer, ash is an excellent remedy for weevil.
  4. In the fall, after the entire crop has been harvested and the greenery has been mowed, it is time for the last feeding. This is mid to late August. The bush begins to form new buds, mustaches. Pour the bed with a solution of water and ash, adding 0.5 liters of dry ash to a 10-liter bucket.

Important! Do not use ash more often than this schedule, as the plant can be burned.

It must be remembered that wood ash reacts with the soil for a very long time, which means it transfers trace elements to the soil for several weeks.

Top dressing with urea

Inorganic fertilizer, which is also called urea. It has the highest amount of nitrogen. Feeding strawberries with urea is an important part of plant fertilizer to increase the green mass of the bush. Strawberries quickly respond to such care and quickly develop a bush that begins to bear fruit much earlier.

Urea fertilization schedule

It is necessary to feed strawberries with urea once a season. At the beginning of the season, when the bush begins to wake up and grow leaves. As soon as the threat of frost has passed, you need to carefully water the bed with settled water and start feeding:

  • dissolve 40 g of granules in a glass of warm water;
  • add the solution to 20 liters of settled water and mix;
  • pour 0.5 l of solution under the root on highly moistened soil;
  • do not cover the bushes with a film after watering.

Important! During the summer, foliar top dressing can be carried out, which will improve the state of greenery or prevent diseases.

To do this, spray the leaves with a solution of 10 g of urea per 5 liters of water.

Top dressing with iodine

Feeding strawberries with iodine is a very old and proven method. It can rather be attributed to folk remedies for feeding strawberries. The solution not only nourishes the soil and heals the roots, but also allows for prevention against putrefactive diseases, which are frequent especially in damp and cool summers.

It is necessary to correctly calculate the amount of iodine, otherwise you have the opportunity to burn a healthy fruit-bearing bush, or even all strawberry bushes.

Iodine Treatment Schedule

Such fertilizers are of two types:

  • foliar - spraying the leaves with a solution prepared from 5-7 drops of iodine per 10 liters of water, carried out at the beginning of the formation of inflorescences;
  • root - at the time of the formation of berries, pour strawberry bushes with water, and then pour 0.5 liters of a solution of 30 drops of iodine and 10 liters of water under each root.

It is necessary to fertilize strawberries with iodine in dry, but not hot weather, be sure to first water the bed with warm water.

Advice! You can not cover the bed after watering with iodine, and it is better to carry out the treatment in the late afternoon.

Boric acid top dressing

Boron is a fertilizer that increases the chances of a quality harvest, the health of fruit and berry crops. It synthesizes nitrogenous compounds, and increases the content of chlorophyll in the leaves.

Boric acid is especially needed in new areas where soddy, podzolic soil prevails. On black earth, rich in organic matter, with the introduction of manure, it is required less. A clear indicator of the lack of this fertilizer is weakness and leaf necrosis on strawberries.

After boric acid, the plant increases the number of ovaries, forms new buds, the bush becomes powerful and strong, with dark dense leaves and dense thick mustaches.

Boric acid fertilization schedule

Top dressing of strawberries with boric acid is carried out twice:

  • in early spring, water with a solution of 1 g of boric acid per 10 liters of water, as soon as the bushes begin to revive, after harvesting old leaves, loosening, and after spilling the beds with warm water;
  • at the beginning of the formation of buds with a solution of 2 g of boric acid and 2 g of manganese per 10 liters of water, after carefully spilling the bed with strawberries with clean water.

Important! In no case do not process in the heat.

It is best to do this at sunset, as the plants may burn. Do not cover the bed after fertilization with covering material.

Feeding with chicken manure

Feeding strawberries with chicken manure is one of the most well-known methods of combating plant starvation in poor soils. Chicken manure can restore strawberries even in the most lifeless state, and in a few days you will see the result. The effect of long-term exposure to plants is due to the fact that chicken manure contains a huge amount of minerals that are not released into the soil immediately. In two or three months, you can not fertilize strawberries if you have chosen chicken.

The composition of chicken manure includes elements such as: phosphorus, potassium, cobalt, zinc, magnesium, nitrogen, and therefore you should not refuse it, being afraid to burn the plant. It is necessary to correctly calculate the amount of chicken for the solution

Chicken manure processing schedule

Such fertilizer is carried out only once per season, and only if you have not already added chicken manure when forming a bed and planting strawberries.

It is most convenient to prepare a concentrate that stores well and use it for a variety of crops.

  1. Dilute 1 kg of raw chicken manure with 1 liter of water.
  2. Leave for 1 week in a warm dark place.
  3. Dilute 1 liter of concentrate in 10 liters of water.
  4. Thoroughly water the bed with clean water, after an hour shed it again with clean water, and check that the soil is saturated by 7-10 cm.
  5. Water the plants under the root no more than 0.3 liters per bush.

Warning! You need to be careful with the use of chicken manure on the beds.

Especially if you purchased a dry concentrate. At first glance, it seems that its quantity is small, in fact, inexperienced gardeners often exceed doses, and at best, the plant throws off flower stalks and begins to grow greenery. At worst, several beds die.

Top dressing of strawberries is necessary from the first days of planting, as it quickly depletes the soil. Follow the schedule and portions, and you will never have problems with the berry. Every year on your table there will be fresh and healthy berries, jam, and other fragrant homemade strawberry desserts.

Getting a good harvest of strawberries is not easy, because it is very demanding for care, in particular for fertilizers. Especially the plant reacts positively to feeding with chicken manure. The effectiveness of its use is noticeable after two weeks, which cannot be said about top dressing with other types of organic fertilizers.

Benefits of chicken manure

Chicken manure is the most popular organic fertilizer among gardeners. There are several explanations for this:

  • many keep chickens not only in a private house, but also in summer cottages. Gardeners always have chicken manure;
  • due to its chemical composition, bird droppings are the most nutritious organic fertilizer. The content of nitrogen, potassium, calcium, phosphorus in the litter is so high that, compared with other natural top dressings of organic origin, the concentration in it is 3–4 times higher. For example, quail droppings are not as concentrated;
  • the effect of chicken manure on the growth and fruiting of strawberries is comparable to complex minerals. After its introduction, nutrients can affect the growth of the plant for another 2-3 years. This is due to the fact that the trace elements contained in chicken manure are released into the soil very slowly.

Features of the use of bird droppings

It should be noted that the use of fresh chicken manure as a fertilizer is strictly prohibited. In addition to nutrients, its composition also includes uric acid, which can kill the root system of a plant. Chicken manure in its original state is a concentrate, because the content of nitrogen and phosphorus in it is very high. Bringing it into the ground fresh will lead to an excess of useful elements and the death of strawberry bushes.

To reduce the concentration of substances such as nitrogen, phosphorus and uric acid, it is necessary to decompose fresh bird droppings in the open air. So it should be kept for a long period and periodically stirred. Unnecessary substances from the litter will evaporate, and the resulting composition can be used for further preparation of fertilizer.

It is necessary to carefully work with the waste products of birds, since it may contain helminth eggs. When in contact with chicken manure, rubber gloves, a protective suit and a mask should be worn.

Types of fertilizers from chicken manure

There are several types of nutrient fertilizer for chicken manure strawberries:

  • liquid fertilizer. Methods for preparing such top dressing are described below. It is recommended to apply it not under the root system, but along the rows or around the strawberry bushes.
  • Green mass compost. To prepare it, fresh chicken manure should be spread on a layer of grass, the remains of cultivated plants or leaves. Everything mixes well with the soil. The process of decay will occur quickly due to the high temperature inside the mass. If you prepare such a fertilizer in the fall, then in the spring it will already be possible to use it. During this time, excess ammonia will be removed.
  • Sawdust compost. It is necessary to mix chicken manure with sawdust in a ratio of 1: 3. And spread along the grooves between the strawberry bushes. Straw or peat can be used instead of wood shavings.
  • Mixes. Stores sell ready-made mixtures of chicken manure. They are dried litter. Such means include Pixa, Roossis and others. These compositions are already disinfected, so you can work with them without fear of becoming infected with helminths. This fertilizer is recommended to be used for watering bushes, as well as added in a dry form directly to the ground.

Methods for preparing liquid fertilizer

Since chicken manure is most often used in the form of liquid top dressing, such cooking methods are used in practice.

Fermentation

This method is most common in chicken farms and is easy to implement. For the preparation of top dressing, the process of chemical catalysis of elements of organic origin is used. Special pallets are placed under the cages with birds, into which the waste products of birds fall. Several times, sawdust is added to this mass, which is pre-treated with a preparation to accelerate fermentation.

As a result of pallet cleaning, the pile is well mixed and transferred to a separate place. After it grows to 1-1.5 meters in height, it is once again watered with UV or EM accelerators. This fertilizer should be left outdoors in summer for 30 days, and in winter for about 60 days, since the rate of decomposition at low temperatures slows down significantly. During this time, the substrate will dry out, and strawberries can be fertilized with chicken manure. The advantage of this composition is the absence of smell, weed seeds and bird helminths.

Infusion

This method is widely used by gardeners. Due to the presence of a high concentration of nitrogen, the agent acts on the plant very quickly. Feeding strawberries with infusion promotes noticeable growth of bushes, and after only 2 weeks you can see how the plant has grown a lot.

The preparation of the infusion does not take much time. Chicken manure, previously rotted over the winter, should be filled with water and mixed thoroughly. It is covered from above and kept for 2-3 days in the open air. As a result, the color of the solution should become light brown, like that of weakly brewed tea. In the case of a darker shade, water must be added to the infusion of bird droppings until the required concentration is obtained.

soaking

In some cases, the waste products of birds are soaked. This is done to remove residual acid, which negatively affects the development of strawberry bushes. To obtain fertilizer, the litter is poured with water and settled for two days. Then the liquid must be drained and new water added. This procedure is carried out several times. When interacting with water from organic fertilizers, unnecessary toxins and urea are washed out.

How to apply fertilizer

As soon as the bush is planted in the ground, the countdown of his life begins. Before fertilizing, it is imperative to water the soil well, and it is advisable to do this the day before the top dressing.

In the case of planting plants in the autumn period, the first application of fertilizers should be carried out only in the spring. First, all old and dry leaves are removed, thanks to which the plant will waste less energy. When the length of the leaves reaches 5-10 cm, top dressing can be applied. As a rule, liquid chicken manure is used for a young leaf. Watering should be under the bushes, not falling on the leaves.

The second top dressing falls on the period of throwing out inflorescences and tying berries. You can fertilize during this period if you wish. This will help increase not only the yield from the bush, but also get larger berries.

It is advisable to carry out top dressing with the same liquid fertilizer.

The next fertilizer is carried out in the fall. For this, mixtures of chicken manure and sawdust or green mass are used. They are laid out between rows. This will enable the root system to stock up on nutrients in the winter, and also warm the soil at low temperatures.

When planting in the spring months, the first fertilization of the soil is carried out 4-5 weeks after rooting, and the next - during the formation of berries. The process of caring for strawberry bushes is the same as for autumn planting. If remontant varieties of strawberries are planted on the site, then fertilizer with chicken manure must be performed every time during the period of setting new fruits.

Thanks to the proper care of strawberries from the garden, you can reap an excellent harvest. The use of chicken manure as a fertilizer for strawberries contributes to the active growth of the bush, an increase in the number of ovaries and high yields.
