The trend of recent years is trekking without a backpack. This is no longer a classic hike. The backpack is either transported on escort horses, or trekking is a radial walk out of the hotel. On such trekking you can take children with you. These are not classic hiking trips, where each participant must carry all their equipment and food, but a modern hiking trip. Especially popular is trekking without a backpack in Altai to Mount Belukha. In the Caucasus, trekking does not at all resemble classic hiking, as tourists often live in hotels and guest houses.

In modern Russia, the methods of military-patriotic education of the younger generation can be divided into several categories:

Ceremonial officialdom (it can be figuratively denoted - "let's play that we have high-level military patriotism"). Funds are well allocated for this and just as well “saved”, young men and girls in uniform caress the eyes of the authorities, and reports are easily ticked. The real benefit for the same young people and for the country as a whole is not zero, but with a negative sign. Because for the guys themselves, the obligation they let down causes only rejection. The desire to slip away from parade events, and if it didn’t work out, to dig into the phone and brighten up the lost time in social networks.

The second system is "let's play an old war". Reenactors. The system is definitely useful. At least, it is able to distract from stupid idle parties, to interest a teenager in history. But in terms of military training, there is no need to talk about the benefits. Plus the risk of side effects. When a grown-up person who is too carried away spends his life perfecting his uniform and advancing in the ranks of a regiment that has not existed for a long time, and drinking in mummers becomes the main milestones in this life.

The third system is "let's play army". Summer paramilitary camps. As a rule, during the first half of the shift, the instructors try to teach the children how to behave "in a military way", the second half - to rehearse the final show for the parents, so that the children will be sent to this camp in the future. The benefit is obvious. Nevertheless, it is an order of magnitude more preferable than the options when the child will stagger around the street garbage dumps all summer, in dubious companies. Or he will end up in a regular children's holiday camp, where the atmosphere of daily discos and other events is fully tuned to introduce children into sexual life. But how high-quality military training teenagers receive in the camp is a big question. Oh well, at least something will come up.

The fourth option is "let's play a competition." After all, you can collect mosaic puzzles for a while, or you can - a Kalashnikov assault rifle. You can play computer "shooters", but in a shooting gallery it's more interesting. You can compete in drill, in military history tests, in hand-to-hand combat, orienteering, putting on OZK. And in the intervals between competitions, clubs and teams train in order to perform better in the next competitions, to warm up their rivals. Well, the benefits are undeniable. It’s great if conscripts come to the Armed Forces who already know how to walk in formation, disassemble a machine gun, combine the rear sight and front sight. Although there are significant downsides. Firstly, not all clubs are able to provide themselves with uniforms (mandatory for participation in competitions), get access to the same shooting galleries, gyms, and OZK. Secondly, in clubs tied to competitions, for the sake of prizes and victories, a narrow specialization is developed. In each team, virtuoso disassembly-assembly is worked out by 1 - 2 people, there is a "historian", "chemist", "prepper", etc. The rest don't need it. And thirdly, when a pupil from the “competitive system” receives a non-standard task, unusual for him, he is lost - he had to deal with this more than once.

If we generalize, then in all the listed systems, a game is known to be given. What is going on - "not real". Not seriously. In this regard, the system of military-patriotic education, developed and operating in the NGO "E.N.O.T. ' is drastically different. At our training camps and military-tactical games, it is understood that this is - already real. The war against Russia has already been unleashed, it is already underway. So far - in the form of information battles, psychological and political sabotage, terrorism, local conflicts. But we live in a state of war. Therefore, our training camps and games are, as it were, "training before the front." Maybe the young fighter will not get to the front line, to the active sector. But it doesn't depend on him. And he is obliged to feel himself as a fighter, to be as prepared as possible for any development of events. We teach what can be useful in a real combat situation. How to save yourself, how to more conveniently and effectively destroy the enemy. Training is conducted at spring and autumn training camps. Military tactical games - exams, the opportunity to test your training in practice.

On February 17, 2018, another such game took place, the Ice Campaign. Note that it has nothing to do with the reconstruction of the "Ice Campaigns" of the civil war. Conditions are set modern. Each team is a unit in a combat area. The range is chosen by themselves - depending on age, experience, training. You need to go through the planned route in a day, and on the way to overcome a number of milestones. On the first - to hit the target with an air rifle. On the second, the team gets "under fire", you need to provide first aid to the "wounded". The third frontier is to undermine the "tank" with a grenade. On the fourth, laser tag is issued, it is necessary to take the defended bridge by storm. On the fifth - to equip a winter parking lot for the night. On the sixth - cleaning up the "settlement" left by the "enemy" and "mined". It requires you to find a package with the name of your team.

We played this game for the ninth time, we came up with it with the rector of the church of St. Nikita in the village of Byvalino, Pavlovo-Posad district, hegumen Ambrose (Shevchuk) of blessed memory. The idea turned out to be fruitful, the Ice Campaigns became not only popular, but quite a prestigious event. If in 2009 only 3 teams entered the game, this time there were 309 participants, 28 teams from 6 regions: Moscow, Moscow, Vladimir, Ryazan, Ivanovo, Yaroslavl regions.

For some, the Ice Campaign has already become a tradition. Thus, the Varyag team from Shchelkovo has been participating in the game for the eighth year, and each time it increases its distance, now they have requested as much as 55 km. “Veterans” of the beloved “Ice Campaigns” were also “Dmitry Donskoy” from Orekhovo-Zuyevo, “Dobrynya” from Elektrogorsk, “Bogoslovo”, Shchelkovsky “Slavs”, “Red Beaver” from Aniskino. There are those who signed up for the first time to try. In recent years, a new phenomenon has been observed - not only organized clubs, but singles, groups of enthusiasts are striving to get to us. Well, please, we accept everyone. Before the current game, several such groups were united, connected with each other, and a fully capable team was obtained, which took the name "Warrior".

Yes, the rumor about "raccoon" events is spreading more and more. And those who have already visited us, "grow", want to visit again and again. Lists of participants have to be adjusted literally at the last moment. The day before, February 16, at 9 pm, a call from Pereslavl-Zalessky, their team really wants to play, asks to register it. And a school from the village of Podvyazevo near Ryazan reported with great regret that it would not be able to come, a mandatory event, all teachers were involved. But on the morning of the game, the principal of the school suddenly calls. He says we couldn't keep our guys. They have been waiting for the Ice Campaign for a whole year, getting ready. Now they are going to Byvalino without teachers, with their parents.

Of course, it's nice. So we are doing our job right. Although the organizers had a chance to work hard. We didn't have any funding, and we don't. All - on their own, at their own expense. And now Vasily Minchik with a team of young "raccoons" had to work all day (literally) in the sweat of his brow to provide the participants of the game with laser tag. And collect the rest of the necessary equipment? Or at least clear the footbridge across the Drezna from snow, which the teams will have to storm?

After all, the weather conditions this year are the hardest. Snowfalls filled up the Moscow region more than generously. The snow is loose, there is no crust. The rules of the game categorically prohibit moving along the highway - it's dangerous. Moreover, the roadside is covered with snow, only the roadway has been cleared. So, you have to make your way through the snowdrifts - as it will. However, this is fully consistent with the conditions of the game. "Closed to combat." And in combat, there will be no cleared roads at all. Or they will be mined.

Despite all the difficulties, the teams report that they have reached the start. Literally "burrowed" into their routes, moving. From different train stations, from different sides. To converge in one place, in Byvalino, at the church of St. Nikita. They climb through drifts, on virgin soil - where they are knee-deep, and where they are waist-deep. Some "veterans" of the "Ice Campaigns" later told me that the current one was the most difficult. Every kilometer - with incredible efforts. Both teenagers and adults, up to their ears in the snow. He melts from body heat, clothes and shoes get wet. Not everyone survived. Were exhausted. Someone was removed from the race by the team leaders, someone went off on their own. And yet they made their way, from line to line. Through the fields, forests, on the ice on Drezna.

Ryazanians acted very harmoniously and skillfully - "Falcon" from Skopin and Yunarmiya from Podvyazevo. We were the first to overcome all six milestones. Moreover, in full force, they remained at the same time quite fresh, combat-ready. Ataman of the Cossack post of St. Nikita, Igor Bezpogodnov led a whole bunch of teams through the snowy seas - Bogolyubovo, Pereslavl, very young guys and girls from Bogoslovo. Also, in a bunch, the Pobedonosets, Bykovsky Partisans, Zhukovsky Vysota and Cossack Spas reached the finish line. Somehow crawl out of the snow and others - "Dobrynya", "Slavs", "Dmitry Donskoy" ...

Yes, they did, they did. By 17.30, by the end of the game, they gradually get together. They exchange impressions. They are about the same - wow! It's hard! But finally got there! We finish the hike traditionally, in the church of St. Nikita. It is warm and light, the lights of candles multiply in the reflections on the salaries of the icons, prayers and the voices of the singers ascend to the dome. Father Andrei (Filippenko) serves a thanksgiving service. The children venerate the shrine with the relics of the Great Martyr and Warrior St. Nikita. Certificates are awarded…

It would seem that one can try on victorious laurels, cheerfully report, brag in communications. Under the most difficult weather conditions, the strength test was passed! Such a large-scale, interregional event was successfully held. However, one could show off with laurels if we just “played war games”. So that the participants compete with each other, and the organizers put a bold tick in the plans and reports. But in the "raccoon" system of evaluation are different. And the game revealed so blatant "jambs" that "debriefing" has to arrange a very impartial.

At the final construction, the Deputy Chairman of the "E.N.O.T." for work with youth, Mikhail Komoliatkin points out to the leaders that the routes are chosen incorrectly, they do not know how to calculate the strength of their personnel. Because the tasks for the units include the whole complex - to reach and complete the assigned tasks. Otherwise the action is meaningless. The question is - why spend all the effort, torment the fighters, if only to overcome the road, and the final task remained unfulfilled? In our case, only 6 teams managed to pass all 6 milestones. Some did not even have time to get to Byvalino by the end of the game. Already in the temple, during the prayer service, stragglers appear - Shchelkovo "Platovtsy", Moscow's "Cascade" ...

Roman Telenkevich, Chairman of the Board of Enotov, points to another important aspect. Almost all participants in real conditions would have suffered terrible losses. Suppose, at the turn of first aid to the “wounded”, only 5 teams received credit - “Warrior”, “Cossack Outpost of Elijah the Prophet”, “Red BOBR”, “Chernomortsy” and (with flaws) “Cascade”. Although this is taught at all our training camps. But it turns out that only a few learned the lessons. The rest forget elementary things - for example, before bandaging the wounded, pulling him out of the shelling, into a safe zone. And if no help is provided, it means that your comrade is dead. Through your direct fault! It is highly likely that those who bandaged him under fire were also shot - often snipers make “wounded animals” specifically for this.

Even greater are the losses "non-combat". Again, the frivolous choice of the route, the incorrect assessment of one's own strengths, are having an effect. No one hid the weather conditions with secrecy stamps. Nobody bothered to leave their own house and walk through the snow, measure the depth. Estimate which of the subordinates will withstand the load, and what distance will withstand. Why ask for more to stand out? Yes, in war there are also officers who bravely volunteer for more difficult tasks, thoughtlessly assuring - we can handle it, throw our hats on! But these are either green lieutenants who have not yet received bitter lessons. Or those who like to distinguish themselves, twirl holes for orders at the cost of someone's extra blood.

By the way, there are also examples of those who approached the issue correctly. Two teams, "Derzhavnaya" and "Zastava Elijah the Prophet", competently analyzed the situation, asked for permission to go skiing - and got it. Or a team of pupils of the children's corps at the church of St. Nikita. Of course, they were very eager to participate, but the guys are very small, 7-8 years old. The priest of the temple, Fr. Andrey and the corps director Tatyana Ryumina, although they are purely civilian people, weighed all aspects, consulted with me, and the optimal decision was also made. Don't let kids go for long distances, connect them to the game at the final stage - storming the bridge, parking equipment, searching for a package. As a result, the children are happy and have done exactly what they can do.

I would like to mention Ivan Belikov, the head of the Moscow Avangard. After a few hours of the game, I reported that there are a lot of newcomers in the team, poorly prepared, they can’t withstand the loads. "Vanguard" leaves the route and returns home. Well, honest report, honest decision. That's what a real leader should have done. Arkady Slesarev with Shchelkovsky "Platovets" realized his mistakes already on the march, allowed improvisation. He shortened the distance for the younger pupils, sent them directly to Byvalino. This is a violation of the rules, however, I recognized his decision as correct. Because the younger part of the "Platovites" was sent in an organized manner, under the command of the elder. She equipped herself with a parking lot and a fire to keep warm, took part in the “battles” for the bridge, where the eldest did not have time.

However, there were also examples to the contrary. Frozen and soaked cadets appeared in Byvalino in droves. When asked what they were doing here, they clearly reported: “We are the 300th”. Clearly, "professionals"! Afghan terminology is known! They salute it proudly, with bravado. That's just the meaning of terminology lost. Because "cargo 300" - the wounded and seriously ill, in need of assistance and evacuation. If the unit operates autonomously on the territory of the “enemy”, then, of course, it must take care of its “three hundredths” itself. And it turns out that they were abandoned to their fate. More precisely, outweighed by the organizers. Which denote ... the actions of the enemy. That is, the “three hundredths” were sent to the enemy! Go, brothers, they will help you there, they will warm you.

And these “three hundredths” hang around Byvalino. Miserable, shriveled, albeit in a cadet uniform, in dashing kubankas. They apparently do not know about the most elementary, Russian ways to quickly warm up - run, jump, clap their hands. Apparently, even the authorities who are with them do not know. And the obvious circumstance that there is a forest nearby, you can break firewood, make a fire, dry off - this is generally "aerobatics" for them. On the contrary, they get away from the forest, to the "civilized" buildings. So they huddle, freeze on the highway, at bus stops.

But even for those who are trying to get the saving fire, the task is too difficult. Every now and then the delegates come to the headquarters of the game - ask for lighter fluid, dry alcohol, paper, matches. Excuse me, but is it difficult to find birch bark in the forest? Or a pawpaw? And matches and a knife are a necessary minimum of “survival” for any person who is going on a hike. If you lag behind your own people, get lost - with such a minimum you will not be lost, you can hold out. True, matches and a knife still require a head on their shoulders and arms growing from the right place. And this seems to be the problem.

double click - edit image

A group of unfortunate stubborn “cascade” members is especially pitiful. They wander like shadows, repeatedly making unsuccessful attempts with a fire, begging for kindling. I ask why they didn’t stock up and can’t cope with such a simple matter? They shrug their hands - their "survivor", who has everything he needs, remained on the route with the team. In general, just a “competitive” specificity. Take prizes for "survival", but this has nothing to do with real skills. I end up just sending them to the temple refectory, sitting there and drinking hot tea.

No, the "disease" is not universal. For some reason, Zastava Elijah the Prophet and Dmitry Donskoy manage, when necessary, to build a fire and warm up canned food. But it turns out that the vast majority simply do not know how to kindle fires! Although the Internet is full of survival videos - look, learn. The Soviet pioneers and post-Soviet scouts have always adopted the norm - to kindle with three matches. And it was considered chic - on the one hand. But now that bonfires are actually needed, many teams have shown themselves to be completely helpless!

Roman Nikolaevich Telenkevich conducts an exhaustive analysis - the set of tasks for the teams was not selected at all randomly. Passed, overcame obstacles, completed tasks. But after all, in combat conditions, the unit after that does not get into cars and buses, does not go home. It is assumed that the fighters should spend the night, rest, dry off - in order to perform some new tasks tomorrow. And in this situation, most of the participants died stupidly and senselessly after the campaign! It just froze the first night. Yes, in the history of wars, such cases were not uncommon. But with the Russians - only in the bare steppe or in the mountains. And collectively freezing in the forest, among firewood and kindling, is the same as dying of thirst on the river bank ...

This is such a sad outcome. However, just he can be very good and useful. The exercises revealed the very rude “jambs” that clubs need to pay urgent attention to, to eliminate their own gaps. And those who really draw the proper conclusions, carry out the appropriate work - they will receive the main prize in the Ice Campaign. Skills that are essential for every student.

Well, our game is over. Refectory of the Church of St. Nikita, as always, cordially invites the participants to dine. At the tables, the boys and girls are utterly tired, but full of their own dignity - and happy, joyful. Today's works are left behind - and in the memories. Bright, unusual. And pleasant ones. As about all the difficult situations from which you emerged victorious. I tested myself, got to know myself and understood - you can, you are capable. You are not a snot, not a rag, but a man, a warrior. Although you may still grow and grow to a real, full-fledged warrior. Say goodbye to each other until new meetings, new events. "Raccoons", they are called so. Information about them spreads both in Russia and abroad. And those who have visited them know very well that it is always difficult for the “raccoons”, but it is interesting. Where else can you find something like this?

The organizers are leaving. Roman Telenkevich, heading in a car to Ryazan, notices three people walking stubbornly and tensely on the road. This is the last of the teams, Varyag. Roman offers them - maybe a lift to Byvalino? No, they steadfastly refuse: we took the route and will pass it honestly ... I meet them at the gates of the Byvalinsky temple at 21 o'clock. Barely stand on their feet, but walked. They also complain about the difficult conditions. Last year we lost our way and set a “record”, 58 km. Now the “record” has not been broken. But 55, as requested, passed. I give them the award they deserve. Now the game is over. I call and report to Roman. He laughs: “I just drove to Lukhovitsy, they - to Byvalino ...”

A winter night near Moscow is coming. It's snowing again. And the soul is somehow especially good and light. The hand of itself stretches to cross itself on the domes of the majestic Nikitsky Church gleaming in the dark. Glory to You, God, for everything!

I made a sample of 2500 hikes from 20 travel clubs. It turned out that...

Summer accounts for 66% of trips for the entire year. No wonder summer is the best time to backpack. First, warm and dry; secondly, there is an opportunity to take a vacation for a trip.

autumn there are few trips, because school, studies, work begin, and the weather deteriorates.

in winter ski tours or accommodation at recreation centers prevail, combined with radial outings without heavy backpacks and equipment. Winter accounts for 6% of all trips.

spring sitting at home is unbearable, so we get equipment and plan trips. The weather in the Crimea, Cyprus and the Caucasus is already above zero, which allows you to make simple transitions without fear of freezing at night in a sleeping bag. March is 5% of the total statistics.

In April– a sudden pause (3%), as tourists save time and money for the May holidays. The end of April is a sharp start to the season of hiking in the Crimea, the Caucasus, the Sayans, Altai, with the capture of the May Day holidays. Those who want warmth go along the Turkish Lycian path or make a transition along the Cypriot Troodos mountains. Also at the end of April, there are many offers where you can go with children. Everyone is waiting for the end of April - both adults and children. Life is picking up pace.

May is distinguished by a fourfold increase in the number of trekking trips - 13% of the total statistics. Campsites are opening, and tourist bases are ready to accommodate tourists. May campaigns are supplemented by campaigns that begin in the last days of April in order to capture the holidays.

The top five most visited regions are as follows:

First place. Caucasus - 29%. Elbrus and Kazbek attract hikers with their beauty.

Second place. Crimea - 15%. The proximity of the sea and the mild climate make this peninsula unique and as if created for week-long outings.

Third place. Northwest - 11%. Residents of the Leningrad region and Karelia are lucky with nature: there are more rivers and lakes than in the Central District. In the suburbs, there is nowhere to go especially.

Fourth and fifth places. Altai, Baikal and Siberia - 7% each. It's expensive to get there from Moscow and St. Petersburg, but it's worth it. Beautiful nature, and not as many tourists as in other places.

Because you will have to walk with a backpack for several days, often in fogs, sometimes wait out the showers under an awning, go uphill again, so do not flatter yourself with illusions, you will have to sweat, show will and give it all, I invite you not to picnic and not even for an easy walk through the forest get ready !!!
