That we are comprehensively poor with the accumulated poverty of thousands of years, there is no need to prove this. History shook us out of its sleeve in harsh conditions and scattered us in a thin layer over a large plain. No one offered us another place of residence: we had to pull the strap in the allotted area. Asiatic invasions from the East, merciless pressure from the West from richer Europe, absorption by the state leviathan of an excessive share of the people's labor - all this not only depleted the working masses, but also dried up the sources of food for the ruling classes.

Gentlemen of the judge, gentlemen of the jury! Your consideration is subject to the most diverse cases in their internal setting, where witness testimony breathes such common sense, is imbued with such sincerity and truthfulness, and is often distinguished by such imagery that the task of the judiciary becomes very easy. It remains to group all these testimonies, and then they themselves will form a picture that will create in your mind a certain definite idea of \u200b\u200bthe case. But there are cases of a different kind, where the testimonies are of a completely different nature, where they are confused, unclear, vague, where the witnesses are silent about many things, they are afraid to say much, showing you an example of evasive reticence and far from complete sincerity. 39. What is the model of meaning used by José Ortega y Gasset in the above passage from The Revolt of the Masses (1930)?
The crowd is a quantitative and visual concept: a multitude. Let us translate it, without distorting it, into the language of sociology. And we get "mass". Society has always been a mobile unity of the minority and the masses. Minority - a set of persons singled out especially; mass - not allocated by anything. Consequently, we are talking not only and not so much about the “working masses”. The mass is the average person. Thus, a purely quantitative definition - "many" - turns into a qualitative one.

His speech flows smoothly, evenly, like water from a drainpipe, and abundantly; there are more pathetic words in his oratorical vocabulary than cockroaches in any tavern. Vadim Sorokin preaches on the topic: Be quick to hear!
Minisermon from the series: Word of Faith for every day - April 21, 2014
James 1:19-20 is a very important principle and a very important rule:
19 Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger,
20 For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Look, friends, we all really want to be understood, we want to speak out and be understood, to be understood and agreed with us, and at the same time, we do not want to understand the person who is our interlocutor or opponent.
Jacob is a very wise man. He had his faults, if we read the history of the church, we study the epistles, the character, but nevertheless he was a very wise man - that cannot be taken away from him.
And this is what he says: my beloved brothers, try to understand the person, try to hear him, let your ears be bigger and your mouth closed. And when you understand the person, perhaps your words will change and peace will come. Because if you do not understand him, but only speak, interrupt, wish that only you were understood, this will certainly cause anger and conflict.
Dear friends, very often we think: in order for the situation to be resolved, we must be listened to and understood. And we do not set ourselves the task of understanding the person who speaks to us.
First, I have a habit: when I read the Bible, I put myself in the place of the biblical heroes and think: what would I do? Secondly, when I have a human opponent, I try to put myself in his place, to think as he thinks, and, you know, a lot of things become clear to me. It is not a fact that I agree with him on everything, but for me many things become clear, and we avoid conflicts.
I sometimes say: listen, I’m sorry for that, for that, I didn’t think until I took your place that it could offend you, hurt you, and so on.
You know, we each have our own shortcomings, our own butterflies in our heads - we do not notice them, we are indulgent towards them. And for that, we see the shortcomings of other people. Jesus was specifically talking about beams in the eyes, you must have read about it.
I will tell this Jewish anecdote about how people do not want to hear and understand each other:
One family came to divorce the judge, and he says:
- What is the reason for the divorce?
- We do not converge characters and we have different views on life.
Judge says:
- Well, can it be concrete?
- Look, she bought a goat and keeps it in our bedroom. Can you imagine what a stink there is, bleating. That goat is messing up everything.
And the judge, a wise man, thinks: well, how can we bring everything to peace? And says to her husband:
- Well, maybe you still tried to understand her, condescend to her, maybe you open the windows and ventilate the room ...
- Yes? And all my doves will fly out?
Dear friends, each had his own problems and each had his troubles, but they considered them a shrine, and the other's troubles a disadvantage. Dear friends, be quick to hear and understand the other person. And only after that express your opinion. Be slow in your words and judgments, and then, perhaps, there will simply be no room for anger.
You may like the following sermons.
Learn to be silent
when others are talking
So, my beloved brothers,
let every man be quick to hear,
slow to speak, slow to anger.
James 1:19
When to be silent and when to speak is one of the most important life lessons,
which needs to be learned. For example, if your boss tells you something, you
should be silent and listen carefully. If you listen and listen at the same time
talk, then you might get the gist of the conversation, but miss important facts and
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be quick to hear, slow to
words, slow to anger” (James 1:19). The Greek word tachus - "quick", can be attributed to
a runner who runs with all his might to be the first to run to the finish line. Its purpose is
win the race, so he, focusing only on the finish line, rushes
forward to take first place.
Given the meaning of the word tachus, the first part of the verse can be translated as follows:
“So, my beloved brethren, listen attentively to what is being said to you,
listen as carefully as if you were in a competition for the best
listener..."
Jacob says we should be champions in listening. Maybe you have to
make some effort to listen carefully to the interlocutor and try to
understand him, and not interrupt him or not think about something of his own at this time. This happens
it is difficult for those whose thoughts are constantly busy with something, for those who have to
think through all sorts of details. I'll give myself as an example. If I don't leave mine
thoughts and not focus on a conversation with a person, I will miss a lot of what he tells me
speaks. I think about something all the time: about my church, ministry, television
programs. I travel and preach all over the world. I write many books. Above all
Other than that, I am a husband and a father. On rare occasions, I don't think about it all. And one day I realized:
I need to learn to listen. After all, people hope that I listen to them carefully, but on
in fact, in my thoughts I can be very far from them. That I look into their eyes
does not mean that I listen to them. If I want to hear and understand what they say to me, I
should stop thinking about his own and focus on their words. I decided this: once a person
considered it necessary and important to tell me something, I must consider it necessary and important
listen to him, even if I disagree with him. And pretending to listen is
to say the least, indecent.
It took me years to learn how to be an attentive listener. Wishing
