Targets and goals

The mission of Tver State University is to act as a generator of innovative development in the Upper Volga region.

It has five main components:

educational- to develop an innovative system of training of qualified personnel in fundamental and priority areas, which is competitive in the labor market, ready to create new jobs on it, oriented to self-realization, civic values and social responsibility;
scientific- to train personnel of the highest scientific qualifications, to develop fundamental and applied research in priority areas;

general information

Tver State University has a license to conduct educational activities dated May 24, 2011 No. 1322 and is considered to have state accreditation in accordance with the Decree of the State Committee for Higher Education of Russia dated November 28, 1998 No. 25 - 0319 and the Certificate of State Accreditation No. 1134 dated March 7, 2008.

The University has a Charter adopted by a conference of scientific and pedagogical workers, representatives of other categories of workers and students of Tver State University (minutes of January 26, 2011 No. 1 and approved by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated May 27, 2011 No. 1860.

A bit of history

Tver State University has a long and difficult path of development behind its back. The history of the university dates back to December 1, 1870, when a private pedagogical school of P.P. Maksimovich was opened in Tver, reformed in 1917 into the Tver Teachers' Institute, and, somewhat later, into the Kalinin Pedagogical Institute. On September 1, 1971, a significant event took place in the history of the pedagogical institute: it was reorganized into Kalinin State University - 20th in the list of universities in the RSFSR and 52nd in the USSR. The grand opening of the university took place later - on February 18, 1972 at the Kalinin Drama Theater. Minister of Higher and Secondary Education V.N. Stoletov and his deputy A.N. Popov, Head of the Head of the Universities of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the RSFSR I.S.Dubinin, representatives of Moscow, Leningrad, Belorussian, Mariysk, Yaroslavl and Petrozavodsk universities.

In 1990, Kalinin State University was renamed Tverskaya.

The planning of the university's scientific activities takes place in accordance with the approved scientific and scientific-technical programs or contracts, and the planning of proactive exploratory research - in accordance with the thematic plans approved by the Academic Council. Scientific research is funded by:

Tver State Technical University is the legal successor of the Moscow Peat Institute, founded in 1922. In the first years after its creation, the institute functioned as part of the Agricultural Academy named after V.I. K.A. Timiryazev (1922-1927) and as part of the Moscow Mining Academy (1927-1930). Since 1930, after the reorganization of the MGA, the institute received the status of a separate technical college along with five other technical colleges - mining, exploration, oil, steel, non-ferrous metals and gold.

The university has five academic buildings, a training ground, dormitories, sufficient to accommodate all students in need. Over the years of its existence, the university has trained about 50 thousand specialists who successfully work not only in Tver, but also in other regions of the Russian Federation. Many of them have become big leaders and businessmen. Over the same years, more than 40 doctoral and more than 800 master's theses were defended in the councils of the university. From 1979 to 2001, more than 3500 foreigners from Africa, Asia and Latin America were trained at the faculty for the preparation of foreign citizens from 1979 to 2001. More than 400 of them continued their studies at the university. About 30 completed postgraduate studies and defended their Ph.D. theses.
