Ural State Law University (Urguu) - Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education, located in the city of Yekaterinburg and is one of the leading universities of the legal profile in the Russian Federation.

History

The university was created on September 15, 1918 by Resolution of the Siberian Government Council of April 26, 1918 as the Faculty of Law (later renamed the Faculty of Soviet Construction and Law) as part of Irkutsk State University.

The Sverdlovsk Law Institute gained its fame as one of the leading centers of legal education and science in the USSR. In the Soviet period, large-scale lawyers worked at the Institute, who left a noticeable trace in Russian legal science: A.M. Vinaver, V.N. Durenevsky, S.F. Kechkyan, B.B. Cherepakhin, K.S. Yudelson, S.V. Yushkov and others.

In the pre-war years, the institute began to be laid the foundation of the Ural scientific law school. As Xui grows, the departments were enlarged, new departments were created. The history of the Ural State Law Academy originates in the distant 30s in the twentieth century. The Siberian Institute of Soviet law was formed in Irkutsk on April 20, 1931 in Irkutsk. The institute organized three departments: socio-economic and political sciences, Soviet economic law and criminal law and process. The first set amounted to only 56 students. At the same time there were only 15 teachers in the state.

Decree of the USSR SCC dated August 1, 1934, the Siberian Institute of Soviet law was translated from Irkutsk to Sverdlovsk. The term of study at the institute has increased from three to four years. In 1935, the Siberian Institute of Soviet law was renamed Sverdlovsk Legal Institute, and in 1937 the Siberian Institute of Soviet Law received a new name? Sverdlovsk Law Institute (Xui). It was under this name that the university received fame as one of the leading centers of legal education and science in the USSR.
