When is the best time to relax in Crimea?

Depending on weather and temperature conditions, rest in the Crimea is divided into low and high season.

High season

beach season starts from the end of June and continues until the end of August. At this time, a large number of tourists go to the peninsula for the purpose of beach and sightseeing leisure. The beaches are usually crowded, water treatments can also be carried out in water parks or pools.

In Crimea, at this time, children's and youth camps, as well as health resorts and clinics, are being filled.

After comes low season- a kind of lull until the next holiday period. But, given the favorable weather conditions, at this time there are quite a lot of people who want to visit such an interesting place.

Moreover, the cost of plane tickets, rooms in sanatoriums and hotels on the coast shrinking. But during the winter holidays, prices can rise, since New Year's Eve in Crimea is also popular.

Some more interesting facts about the Crimean climate - in this video:

No wonder Crimea was so popular not only among the Soviet "elite", but also among famous writers, aristocrats and other influential people. Luxurious hotels and guest houses grew up on the coast and in the mountains, and the number of sanatoriums increased. And all thanks to the unique location of the resort.

Political changes and the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation have significantly increased the flow of tourists to this region. Inexpensive flights from Moscow and other large cities are subsidized by the state, which has a positive effect on the development of new vacationers on the peninsula. The uniqueness of the Crimea lies in the fact that in its features it is comparable to the famous Mediterranean resorts of France, Italy and Spain. The specific climate and healing air allow you to relax here not only in summer, but also in winter. But which period deserves special attention?

January weather

Calm and mild winter- this is a common thing for the Crimea. January is usually dry and clear weather. If snow falls, it lasts no more than a couple of days. However, there are also winters when the cover remains intact for about a week.

Medium air temperature this month is about +5 degrees Celsius. In the south, this figure is noticeably higher, about +15 degrees.

Water temperature one of the lowest and is +9, +10 degrees. This month, you can’t swim in the sea, which, however, does not stop many vacationers. A small number of cloudy days, plus temperature and lack of precipitation make January an excellent month for hiking, mountain tours and museums.

Weather in February

The coldest month on the peninsula. At this time, the average air temperature remains at the same level of +5 degrees, but the number of frosty days increases. Even on the coast it becomes uncomfortable. The main reason for such a sharp change in weather conditions is strong wind. Precipitation is frequent, and the snow is kept in a dense cover for up to several weeks.

Water temperature also reduced to a minimum. +8 degrees. In coastal areas, the formation of an ice crust can be observed. Storms are also frequent, at this time it is life-threatening to be near the water itself. Gusty winds and strong waves - this is the picture that awaits tourists on the coast.

But vacationers who come to the mountains have a great time hiking in the mountains. On snowy days, you can go skiing and snowmobiling, and spend cloudy and rainy days exploring. The museum continues to work even in winter.

March weather

Spring comes to the peninsula quickly and very effectively. The average temperature increases gradually, but in the south, buds are already swelling and snowdrops and daffodils are blooming. Here temperature during the day can reach +20 degrees. Average +10. Tourists should take warm clothes, because at night the thermometer shows 0.

You still can't swim. Water temperature rarely exceeds the +9 degrees. But this period is always in demand among tourists. Many people come to Crimea on holidays to see the early spring. In addition, March is considered one of the best months for undergoing treatment on the territory of sanatoriums.

April weather

In April, wonderful weather persists, most of the month sunny and windless. The temperature in the south rises to +20 degrees, which allows you to safely move without warm jackets. The sun is actively warming, but its rays are still soft. However, people with particularly sensitive skin can burn, so we recommend taking a protective cream with you.

The water hasn't warmed up yet.. average temperature +10+11 degrees. But towards the end of the month at the height of the day, many tourists decide on short swims.

April is the last chance to visit museums and historical monuments without the fuss and huge tourist groups.

May weather

From this month, the “season” begins in Crimea. Numerous tourists come both for the May holidays and for weekends. Taking a vacation for the sake of relaxing on the peninsula at this time is not a good idea. The fact is that the weather in may is unstable. The sun can shine for several days in a row, and then suddenly give way to rain. Downpours bring moisture and coolness. With an average air temperature +20, and in the southern part of the peninsula and all +30, after rain the thermometer can show and +15. If you are going to rest in the Crimea in May, take an umbrella and a couple of warm clothes with you.

And yet this month is usually sunny and warm. The sea finally warms up to +17+20 degrees, so the swimming season opens either in mid-May or closer to June.

Many tourists combine beach holidays with excursions, which are especially popular in May.

June weather

Real summer begins in Crimea in May, but June is perfect month to relax. First of all, it is worth noting air temperature- it does not exceed the mark in +32 degrees. The sun's rays have lost their former softness, but it is still impossible to call them scorching. June is a unique month that combines green forests and blooming flowers, excursions to unique nature reserves and, of course, beach holidays.

There is no longer any sense in warm clothes, but hats and sunscreen are becoming a necessity. The risk of getting heatstroke is not that high, but it is there.

The water temperature reaches +22 degrees. During this period, you can swim and engage in outdoor activities.

July weather

One of the two most popular months of the year for tourists. Summer in Crimea is dry and hot, the sun is hot and scorching, but this does not stop vacationers. The air temperature during the day is approaching +40, and in the sun it can exceed this figure. During the day, staying in open areas for a long time is dangerous: you can get heat or sunstroke. That is why in July there are few people who want to travel in the mountains and visit the sights.
But beach lovers will enjoy spending time at sea. Near the coast, high temperatures are much easier to endure. Water at this point warms up to +24 +26 degrees so you can swim to your heart's content.

At night, the entire coast is illuminated by lasers from nightclubs and beach discos. Therefore, tourists can have fun around the clock.

August weather

However, the hottest month is August, when air temperature exceeds +40 in the shade. The scorching sun finally burns out all the greenery, so during this period it will not work to admire beautiful landscapes. And there are few people who want to climb the mountains and explore the wilderness, because the hot and dry climate makes it difficult to move during the daytime. However, at night the thermometer does not show low temperatures. Coolness beckons the coast. Water cools a hot body. The sea temperature this month reaches a record +28 degrees.

All types of water-related activities are especially popular: diving, water skiing, jet skiing and catamarans.

September weather

The velvet season will delight everyone who does not like to relax in a crowd of tourists. The school year begins, so families with small children leave the coast. Besides in September the heat begins to subside. The air temperature drops to more pleasant +30, the sun becomes less aggressive.

At that time you can enjoy the sea, it warms up to +24, sunbathe and swim. But tour groups and various agencies are also starting to gather. At this temperature, you can safely visit museums and palaces, historical monuments and various exhibitions.

October weather

Autumn in Crimea may seem like a real fairy tale. The number of rainy days is minimal, with very little precipitation. But even rain can please vacationers, because it will be short-term and warm, “mushroom”. Air temperature continues to drop i, the average for the southern part of the peninsula is +20 degrees. But on sunny days, the thermometer can show +28+30.

There are few tourists at this time, so prices for both excursions and entrance tickets to galleries are reduced. In October, you can learn the history of Crimea without fuss and at a low price.

The water temperature at the beginning of the month is +20 degrees, so many vacationers enjoy swimming.

Nightlife is gradually fading away, but the sanatoriums are waiting for the next influx.

November weather

Another calm and rather warm month, which allows you to enjoy all the beauties of the Crimea. The rains that took place in October "revived" nature, so that vacationers in November are surrounded by fresh greenery. During this period, you can walk and go on short hikes. The air temperature is kept at +20 and decreases only closer to December. The end of the month may surprise with night frosts, but this is rather rare.

In November, mushroom pickers, fishermen and hunters meet in Crimea, since the last month of autumn is considered the best time for such fishing.

December weather

A mild winter is coming into its own. Snow in December is an exceptional phenomenon, and frosts occur only at night. The average temperature on the peninsula is about +5 degrees, in the southern part can reach +15 degrees.

For multi-day hikes, the time is not the best, because it often rains, and most of the days it is foggy. The hunting season is closed, it is also impossible to catch fish in December.

But you can relax in sanatoriums and take care of your health, study the culture and life of local peoples, visit palaces and museums.

The climate of Crimea is very diverse, ranging from temperate continental in the north, west, east and subtropical in the south to mountainous, characteristic of broad-leaved forests, in the Crimean uplands. In Crimea, the maximum number of hours of sunshine approaches 2500, which makes it possible to characterize the peninsula as very sunny.

The climate of the northern part of Crimea causes hot, extremely dry summers and windy winters with little snow. On the southern coast of Crimea, summers are also hot, but humid, and winters are mild and snowless. Speaking about the Crimean mountains, the summer here is moderate and dry, the winter is wet and cold.

With regards to precipitation - on the southern coast and the southern slopes of the mountains, most of them fall in December and January, there is practically no rain in summer; in the center and in the north of the peninsula - in June and July; in the west and east, precipitation is distributed evenly throughout the year. The amount of precipitation in the steppe zone is about 350 mm of precipitation per year, in Feodosia and Sevastopol about 400 mm, and in Yalta about 480 mm.

Four Seasons - Four Faces of Crimea

spring weather in the Crimea it is set in the month of April, but it has a different character. It is possible that on March 8 there is still snow, and maybe bright sunny days, complemented by the cheerful chirping of birds. Snow begins to melt from the Crimean mountains and melt waters fill the rivers. The active time of flowering of the most diverse flora of the Crimea begins. In May, the weather is already very similar to summer.

Summer season begins in early June, when it gets quite hot, especially on the southern coast, where the level of air humidity is high; in July, heavy rains are frequent, thanks to which everything begins to be buried in greenery. In the steppe regions in the middle of summer, the picture is slightly different; due to the heat, they acquire a burnt yellow tint. In the mountains at this time, the weather is more restrained, and in the gorges, very low temperatures are observed at night. In the evening hours, the high daytime temperature drops, bringing the desired coolness. The beach season can be considered open as early as the 20th of May, but you can really enjoy the sea only in early June. By this time the water temperature is around 20°C - 21°C. In the second half of summer, the water warms up to 24 ° C -26 ° C, but on the South Coast these marks are a couple of degrees lower.

Crimean autumn- very warm, but by the end of the season it becomes rainy. This is one of the best times of the year. Autumn is significantly warmer than spring, as after warming up during the summer months, the sea turns into a huge pool of heat that keeps the weather warm. From September to mid-October, there is definitely still a bathing season, the so-called velvet season. The sun becomes less active, the air temperature drops a little during the day, but the sea still remains comfortable for swimming from 20 ° C to 22 ° C. With the arrival of autumn and the end of the holiday season, the price level falls along with the number of tourists, which is an attractive advantage of the velvet season in Crimea. And only in November, autumn comes into its legal rights, and then rather in the last decade. At this time, the foliage is painted in a huge number of golden-purple hues. The frequency of precipitation increases towards the end of autumn and is accompanied by winds.

TEMPERATURE AND WEATHER IN CRIMEA BY MONTH IN AUTUMN
September October November
Average temperature +18 +13 +8
Temperature during the day +23 +17 +12
Temperature at night +13 +8 +4
Water temperature +21 +17 +15

Concerning winters, then we can say that snow is typical only for the mountains, where the ski season opens in January. On the rest of the peninsula, if snow falls, then in small quantities, and does not last long, from several days to a week, depending on the region. The weather is mild, although sharp cold snaps are frequent. At this time, northeast winds blow, they are stormy on the coast. Therefore, an air temperature of +7 ° C can give a feeling of minus.

We conclude that the best time for a beach holiday on the peninsula is the beginning of summer, the second half of August and September. Well, lovers of winter extreme sports have at their disposal all three months of the cold season on Ai-Petri.

The warm and gentle sun, sandy and pebble beaches, the sea calling to cool down - all this awaits you with open arms in Crimea. This is the place where several hundred thousand people come to spend their long-awaited vacation. Most lovers of this beautiful corner of the earth will agree that Crimea is beautiful at any time of the year and in any weather. And they will be right. But still, it will be useful to know about the weather in Crimea in different parts of the peninsula and at different times of the year. Then you can decide for yourself when it is better to relax in the Crimea.

The climate of Crimea can be divided into three groups: mountainous, subtropical and temperate continental. Mountain climate prevails in the mountains with deciduous forests. Summers are dry and moderate, winters are quite cold and wet. In the south of the peninsula, a subtropical climate reigns, which is characterized by mild winters without snow and hot, humid summers. In the temperate continental climate of the northern part of Crimea, summers are very dry and hot, and winters are windy.

Mountains and the sea have a great influence on the climate and weather of Crimea. As for the sea, it heats up all summer, and with the advent of autumn it begins to gradually cool down, giving all its heat to the air. That is why autumn on the sea coast is warm, as many say - "velvet". The mountains protect the coast from the northern winds.

The area of the peninsula is very diverse. So, for example, if you move from its northern part to the southern, you can clearly see that the northern territory of Crimea is, as a rule, a steppe without any hills and mountains. The closer to the south, the more hilly the terrain becomes. Accordingly, the climate also changes - from temperate to sub-Mediterranean.

For many, the weather in Crimea is the best in the spring months. It is at this time that nature wakes up. Already in early March, numerous fields of snowdrops, jasmine, almonds, honeysuckle, dogwood, almonds begin to bloom on the mountains. In April, peach blossoms, apricots and many other trees. Melted snow, or rather water from it, fills rivers and waterfalls, which become very beautiful already at the end of April.

But at the same time, spring in Crimea is the windiest season. In March, frosts are very common at night, especially in places of river valleys.

The average temperature of spring weather in Crimea is from +8 to +17 C during the day, and from -1 to +10 C at night. The water in April and March stays at +9 C. In May it warms up to +16 C. In spring, the weather is not very stable - the bright sun can shine in the morning, and it can rain heavily in the afternoon. But basically, it does not last long - approximately until the first days of May.

The summer months in Crimea are the peak of the tourist season. In June, everything is still blooming, all the trees have already spread their leaves. It's not so cold anymore, but it's not too hot either. You can swim in the sea. The average water temperature until mid-June is + 20C, by July it warms up to + 22C, and in August you don’t want to leave the sea at all - the temperature stays at + 25C. Moreover, the water warms up faster on the western coast of the peninsula than, as many used to think, in the south. This is facilitated by the shallow waters of the Kalamitsky Bay.

The most restrained weather in the Crimea in the summer in the mountains. At night, the temperature here very often drops to significant levels, especially in the gorges. By the way, on the southern coast of the peninsula in the summer there are often heavy rains, due to which there is a lot of greenery. But in the steppes of the northwest, the leaves of the trees, on the contrary, turn yellow in the summer due to the strong sun with little rainfall.

The temperature in June is kept at +23C, in July and August - +27+30C. Peak season is in June-August. It is worth warning that somewhere in the middle or end of June in the Crimea such a natural phenomenon as upwelling can be observed. The locals call it "surge". This is the rise of cold masses of water from the very depths of the sea to the surface. At the same time, the water temperature drops to + 13 + 15C in 10 minutes, and stays at this level for about 2 days, until it warms up again.

On a note: going to the mountains in the summer, it is worth considering the large temperature difference. So, for example, if in the shade in Yalta it is about + 30С, then in the mountains (gorges) it will be only + 5 + 9С. There is also a lot of cold rain.

If you still do not know when it is better to relax in the Crimea, so that it is both cheaper and still warm, then think about the option of an autumn stay at the sea. This time is called the velvet season - the sea is very warm, housing prices have fallen, fruits are ripe, there is no such sun on the beach as in summer. But all these pluses remain until the end of September - beginning of October. After this time, the rainy season begins in Crimea. Until the end of September, the temperature stays at +23C during the day and +13C at night. The water in the sea is warm - + 21C.

In October, the weather is still quite normal in Crimea, many people are still swimming (water is +17C), but there is no longer a large crowd on the beach. At this time, it is very good to relax here for those who came to relax, and not run on excursions. The average temperature in October during the day is + 17C, at night - + 8C.

In November, the swimming season ends, the weather becomes autumn - during the day the air temperature warms up to + 12C, at night it drops to + 4C. The water in the sea is also not very warm - about + 15C.

Winter is the time for ski resorts, of which there are many in Crimea. In general, snow for the Crimean peninsula is a rather rare natural phenomenon. If it falls out, then after 2, a maximum of 7 days, it will melt without a trace. The wines are mountains that protect the coast from cold cyclones. As for the ski resorts, to get to them you need to look for mountainous areas in which the snow lingers for a long time. For example, Evpatoria or the east of the peninsula.

In other regions of Crimea, the weather is mild, but often due to low pressure over the sea and high pressure over the southern part of the CIS, dry and cold continental air literally breaks into the peninsula, which causes possible winds from the northeast. That is why under such weather conditions and high humidity, even at positive temperatures, it will seem that everything is -10C outside.

In December, the average temperature during the day is + 8C, at night - + 1C. Many tourists come here to celebrate the New Year at the end of the month. Someone chooses places with snow, someone prefers fast-melting snowdrifts on palm branches.

January and February are the time of rest for those who, throughout the entire tourist season, helped tourists to relax comfortably - the owners of the accommodation take a short vacation to prepare for the next season. If someone is lucky enough to visit Crimea at this time, then be sure to visit Mount Ai-Petri, climb the cable car to a height of 1234 meters - you will not see such a sight in summer.

The average air temperature in January and February is approximately the same - during the day - from + 6C, at night - about 0C. The sea at this time has a temperature of only + 7C.

Some indicators of the Crimean climate

Relative Humidity- the percentage of air humidity in relation to the amount of moisture that saturates it at a certain temperature. The line with an average air humidity of 70% passes through Feodosia, Yayla and Chersonese. When it deviates to the south or north, this percentage increases.

Absolute humidity- a value showing the pressure of water vapor in the air. It is measured in millimeters (mm). The absolute humidity on the line Kerch, Ak-Mechet is about 8. It increases to 8.5 closer to Sevastopol and Feodosia.

Precipitation measured in centimeters. 30 cm precipitation is typical for Yevpatoriya, Dzhankoy; 40 - Feodosia, Bakhchisaray; 50 - Ai-Petri, Forosa.

The steppe and foothill regions suffer the most from precipitation in June and July. But in the east and west of the coast, they fall evenly throughout all seasons. On the South Coast and in the southern mountains - in the midst of winter - December, January.

The weather in Crimea is often spoiled by rains, which make up 80-85% of the peninsula's precipitation. In the steppe places they go up to 130 days, in the mountains - up to 170 days a year.

Cloudiness. The average annual ratio of sky coverage over Crimea is 55%. At the same time, there are 100 completely cloudy days, and 80 completely sunny days.

Ice cover. Records for the longest standing of ice in the Crimea are beaten by the Genichesk region - more than 80 days a year. At the same time, the temperature is below 0C here for more than 90 days a year. Snow lies for about 40 days in the north of the peninsula and about 20 in the northwest.

Thunderstorms. For the Crimean climate, such a natural phenomenon is quite rare - on average, thunderstorms occur no more than 10 days a year.

Well, now you know in general terms about the weather and climate of this wonderful peninsula, and you can easily decide for yourself when it is better to relax in Crimea.

So far there is nothing similar.

The main feature of the Crimean climate is its southern coast protected from northern steppe winds. It experiences weather throughout the year that is more typical of subtropical than temperate continental latitudes. The mild and warm climate of the south of the peninsula is ideal for relaxation and recovery almost all year round, because according to the main characteristics, the weather conditions here are very reminiscent of the Mediterranean climate in Monaco, Venice or Nice.

Spring on the Crimean peninsula can be different from year to year and give everyone unexpected surprises: sometimes in May you can safely swim, and there are years when it rains even in June, the coast is shrouded in fogs and humid winds blow. Almost always, the first half of autumn in the Crimea is characterized by warm and quiet weather. It is not for nothing that September is considered to be the velvet season: at a time when it gets cold behind the Crimean mountains, it rains with sleet, there are still many vacationers on the beaches of the South Coast. The main feature of the Crimean climate is moderation, here, even at the peak of the summer heat, the temperature rarely rises to +35 degrees, and even less in the mountains, from +25 to +30 degrees. Winters on the southern Black Sea coast of Crimea are usually snowless. Precipitation falls mainly in the form of rain.

In the resort centers of the peninsula, snow is a rarity and a curiosity. It falls only about ten times during the winter and melts quickly. You can see a good snow cover only in the mountains, where already at a height of 600 - 700 meters there are snowdrifts from 30 to 100 cm.

According to synoptic observations over the past hundred years, the warmest month in Crimea is July, although August often beats July temperature maxima. The average daily temperature in summer on the southern coast is 22 - 24 degrees, and in the rest of the peninsula about 27 degrees. It is coldest in Crimea in February, when even in Yalta the temperature does not rise above +3 degrees. Frosts come to the peninsula, but they are mild and short-lived, usually the thermometer drops to -4 degrees in the morning, before dawn. Almost all exotic heat-loving plants feel comfortable at this temperature.

Sunny and warm weather in Crimea reigns from April to October, and the swimming season lasts from May to early October, when the temperature of the Black Sea reaches a comfortable +20 degrees. The warmest sea in August, from +24 to +27 degrees.

On the coast from Sudak to Laspi, about 500 millimeters of precipitation falls annually, while in the mountains the average annual rainfall exceeds 1000 millimeters. Precipitation patterns vary with the season. So, in the summer in the Crimea there are short showers, usually in the morning. And in winter, drizzling prolonged rains prevail, which may not stop for several days.

Despite the small length of a narrow strip of the Southern Coast of Crimea, the weather conditions at different resorts may vary slightly. This is mainly due to the proximity and structure of the mountains and the seabed, as well as the presence of vegetation around.

For example, Yalta among the locals has the name "oven", because on all sides the city is separated from the rest of the land by a high ridge of mountains through which cold winds cannot break. In this region, mountains reach a kilometer height only at a distance of 4-6 kilometers from the sea coast. Thanks to this feature, the weather in Big Yalta is stable, without sudden cold snaps.

To the west of Yalta is another popular resort, Simeiz, which boasts less rain and cooler summers. In the vicinity of the city there are magnificent wide beaches, and the mountains slightly receding from the coastline are covered with evergreen and deciduous forests.

The southern coast differs from the rest of the Crimea not only in a warmer and milder climate, but also in the level of humidity. It is especially important to know this feature for people suffering from respiratory diseases. At the height of the summer season, it is better for such patients to undergo treatment not in Yalta or Foros, but in Feodosia or Evpatoria. The fact is that the air humidity in the south of the peninsula in summer is quite high, about 60%, and is uncomfortable for health procedures. And in the resorts in the west or in the east of Crimea, the humidity does not exceed 40-50%, it is this indicator that is considered ideal for a person.

The Crimean subtropics have become a cozy home for many heat-loving plants, once brought from other countries. The flowering cycles of many exotic flowers do not stop with the onset of winter, colorful colors and aromas only replace each other and tirelessly adorn gardens, flower beds and meadows on the slopes of the mountains. For example, in January the hellebore begins to bloom, in February it is replaced by almonds and jasmine, in March the dogwood, levkoy, and magnolia bloom. With the advent of April, flowers bloom on most fruit trees, and May pleases with colorful tulips, roses and wisteria. In the summer, field and decorative flowers do not stop blooming, the purple haze of lavender fields pleases the eye. In autumn and winter, equatorial flowers and fruit trees bloom in the indoor botanical gardens.

This combination of climate, vegetation, sea air and mountains make Crimea an ideal place for recreation and treatment of adults and children all year round.
