Master's program at VyatSU: second higher education in 2 years

The VSU master's degree provides an opportunity for a successful career in Russian and international companies, where it is recognized along with diplomas from other foreign educational institutions.

A huge advantage of this educational stage is time saving, since it gives the opportunity to receive a second higher education in just 2 years. At the same time, specialized education is not required for admission. For example, if an applicant has a higher education diploma in one specialty, for example, "history", and the work is related to another profile, for example, "management" or "economics", then in order to get a master's degree in economics or management it is enough only 2 years to unlearn the Master's program. Thus, you can quickly and efficiently get any additional higher education.

To enter the master's program, it is enough to have a higher education (bachelor's, specialty or master's degree) and pass an exam in the specialty. VyatSU provides an opportunity for admission to the budgetary form of education.

Duration of study: full-time education - 2 years, part-time - 2.5 years

Postgraduate studies - decent income and interesting work

Postgraduate studies provide ample opportunities for pursuing science for both recent university graduates and those who are already making a career. This is especially useful for those industries and companies that need their own developments and good specialists. In addition, graduate school lays the foundation for professional development and provides experience in serious analytical work.

For university graduates, postgraduate studies will be an additional benefit to building a successful future career. It should be noted that at present various competitions are being actively held for young researchers, where one can obtain funding for scientific developments. Many graduate students of Vyatka State University receive increased scholarships from the President of the Russian Federation. Active scientific work contributes to a decent material income, especially since the basic scholarship for graduate students has been increased to 6 thousand rubles.

University graduates can take advantage of a loophole in the law on education

Today, the citizens of the Russian Federation have only one opportunity to receive. However, certain norms of the law make it possible to find an opportunity to study a second specialty at the expense of the state.

Not everyone knows that a Russian graduate with a specialist diploma has a free opportunity to enroll in a master's program in any of the thematic courses he has chosen.

Let us recall that Russia's participation in the Bologna Process entailed the country's transition to a two-tier education system. And after December 31, 2010, bachelor's and master's qualifications became the main ones for graduates of Russian higher educational institutions.

Bachelor's degree, as the first stage of the adopted system, enables a student to receive a higher professional education of a wide profile in 4 years, in contrast to the traditional "specialty" since Soviet times, which involved mastering a narrow specialty. Bachelor's study programs have an international status and allow a university graduate to move to any compatible profession in one year. Master's degree, respectively, is the highest level of the "Bologna system".

In fact, the transition to 3rd generation standards - a two-tier education system has already taken place. However, 10% of university students are still enrolled in the old programs. And it was they who had the opportunity to supplement their professional higher education with a new free add-on for any profile of their choice - a master's degree. It turns out that the master's degree has become for such graduates an analogue of a second higher education.

Nesterova Lyudmila, Scientific Secretary of the Academic Council of VyatSU:
- This practice has appeared quite recently, so not all university graduates have yet managed to understand the advantages of a master's program. Obtaining this level of education, firstly, is profitable, since there are budget-funded places, and secondly, it is convenient, because additional specialization expands the graduate's opportunities in terms of employment. Also, a master's degree is an opportunity to obtain an academic degree with less effort than in a graduate school. Therefore, the magistracy is more loved, but less known about it.

In the educational and methodological department of VyatSU, they explained to us that this year the university had 57 budget-funded places in the magistracy. It was possible to become a master by competition for graduates, having passed only 1 exam. In addition, a scholarship similar in size to the usual scholarship was awarded to undergraduates enrolled in 4 and 5 grades.

Graduates of universities who wished to continue their studies in the master's degree, assessed the opportunity in different ways.

Tatiana, 23 years old:
- I graduated from the Faculty of Philology, but I have always dreamed of being a psychologist. I was very happy about the opportunity to enter the magistracy. This is additional knowledge and a chance to get a job in the required position.

Elena, 22 years old:
- I received an education in the specialty of service and tourism, but I realized that this was not mine and entered the magistracy of the Faculty of Law. I was already disappointed in my decision - it is easier to get knowledge and skills in production, a master's degree is a waste of time.

Denis, 23 years old:
- Classes in the magistracy seem boring, because I work, I do not have time to attend all classes. Nevertheless, the thought holds that this is an additional education, and in any case it will come in handy in life.

Postgraduate studies, as an analogue of the second higher education, of course, have their pluses and minuses. One way or another, as they explained to us in the same educational and methodological administration of VyatSU, this loophole in the law on education did not have long to exist. In the near future, the Duma plans to deal with the situation and cancel this benefit for people with a complete higher education.
