A compact device that generates laser radiation, is called a laser target designator (abbreviated as LCC). Radiation can be carried out both in the visible and in infrared range. The device is used by shooters for better aiming. Distances are short and medium. The laser pointer can be mounted on firearms and pneumatic weapons, as well as on crossbows.

The basis is the emitter - a laser diode. Its rays pass through a convex lens and turn into one narrow beam. As a rule, it is red (rarely purple) in color. To create a green beam that is more comfortable to the eye and better visible, a special solid-state diode is used, which has a higher cost.
