It happens that when the iPhone 5/6s plus is connected via USB to a desktop computer, the PC does not see the apple device at all, the communication signal fails, or nothing happens at all. Why do problems happen with iPhone synchronization, and who is to blame?

The reason for desynchronization can be in:

  • iPhone, in this case, the reason for not connecting is in an outdated version of iTunes, a broken connector slot, a clogged one, or, which is extremely rare, a hardware failure of the gadget.
  • On a computer, if the iPhone does not want to connect to the PC, then this version of the operating system is not suitable for these purposes, or the necessary drivers are missing, or the Apple device support version is outdated. The reason for not connecting can be the included antiviruses, and security control programs, existing viruses, or simply a failure in the system.
  • A connector between a PC and an iPhone, in which case the computer does not see the iPhone at all, or the connection is intermittent.

If the problem with the synchronization of the Apple device and the laptop / PC is not solved by rebooting both gadgets and reconnecting, then we try to identify the cause further.

iPhone 5/6s plus cannot connect to PC, what should I do to sync.

  • Try different USB ports, perhaps the reason is just a broken USB slot.
  • Temporarily disable antiviruses and protection system on the laptop/computer.
  • Make sure that the reason for not connecting the iPhone to the PC is not in the connector cable. By the way, it’s better to use only the original cord from Apple, in Chinese counterparts the transfer speed is slightly lower than the latest versions of apple connectors, this is another reason why the iPhone may not work correctly with a PC, and also will not have time to update iTunes through a computer.
  • It is worth updating iTunes to the latest version from the official Apple website.
  • If this helped, and the computer began to see the gadget or the iPhone is at least recharged from the computer, then “Trust this computer?” should appear on the iPhone 5/6s plus screen, select trust, after which synchronization should occur.
  • If the iPhone still cannot connect to the computer: the cable is original, charging is in progress, and the trust request message has been successfully confirmed, then the problem is clearly in the PC: you will have to reinstall the PC Operating System.

Also, it’s worth trying to synchronize with other devices from friends or relatives, sometimes it’s easier to go to a neighbor and upload photos / videos from an iPhone, download music and movies, than spend half a day looking for an answer to the question: why doesn’t the iPhone connect to a laptop? And you can always go to our iFix SC, including with both gadgets, we will quickly solve the problem of not connecting the iPhone to the computer.

iPhone won't connect to computer. Reason - PC

Yes, in most cases it is he who causes connection problems. To exclude them, do the following:

  • First of all, reboot both devices. So to speak, for prevention.
  • We try various USB ports and check, for example, with a USB flash drive, their performance. After all, one of them may burn out or simply not work.
  • We do not use adapters, splitters, extension cords and other devices for USB ports. We stick the cable directly into the system unit.
  • Update iTunes. The ideal option would be to completely uninstall, and then install the latest version from the Apple website.
  • Disable third-party software (antiviruses, firewalls). Don't forget to turn them on after checking!
  • The most radical step - reinstalling the operating system, will most likely help, but it will take time ...

Can't connect iPhone to computer

If the iPhone cannot connect to another computer, then the matter is clearly in the device ... No matter how reliable and stable Apple products are, it can also cause connection delays. Although most often, the owners of these devices are to blame, bringing them to such a state that it becomes surprising how they can still turn on, and not just synchronize. I got distracted :)

Returning to the topic, we try to perform the following steps:

  • After connecting, unlock the phone, it is quite possible that you will see a pop-up window asking: "Trust this computer?". Without an affirmative answer, no synchronization will occur, only charging.
  • Change cable. Even if there is no visible damage, the wire may be defective. Or it is quite possible that it is not original - but in this case, it is possible to make the device work with an "unsupported" accessory.
  • Reset device content and settings. If you decide to take such a desperate step, remember about backup information (using iCloud or iTunes), otherwise you will lose all your data forever.
  • Jailbreak, or rather the so-called tweaks installed with it, can also contribute to sync problems.
  • Update software. It's always helpful!
  • Clean the connector on the phone (possibly oxidized or dirty). Important! Clean very carefully, ideally entrust to a professional. If you undertake to do it yourself, look for information on the Internet, otherwise you can aggravate the situation.
  • The last point we have is the saddest thing - the connector for charging and synchronization is broken or out of order. There is only one way - to the service center! If possible, contact only the official workshops listed on the company's website.

The computer does not see the iPhone

By the way, there is another win-win option - contact Apple support. And torture them with the question: “Why doesn’t my iPhone connect to the computer using usb?”. To be honest, I have not tried it - but I think I won’t hear anything new from them, and the conversation will take a lot of time.

Contact support

As you can see, in most cases, you can get by with "little blood" and troubleshoot at home. If, however, you have tried all the points given in the article, and the situation has not changed in better side- The iPhone still does not connect to the computer, then describe the situation in the comments - we will figure it out together!

Every owner of an "apple" device is well aware that it is impossible to unlock the full potential of your device without mastering all the delights of iTunes. Only with its help, it becomes possible to freely exchange files between Apple gadgets and PCs. Therefore, if the computer does not see the iPhone, then this becomes a real problem. Fortunately, it is not necessary to seek help from the masters, you can find and fix the breakdown yourself.

Let's start with the fact that there are several options why the iphone does not react in any way to connecting to a PC. Here are the options:

  • Connecting cable damaged.
  • USB ports are not working on your computer.
  • Clogged lightning connector.
  • You need to restart your phone.
  • Possible conflict software.
  • Gadget failure.

For one of these reasons, it becomes impossible to connect an iPhone. Let's look at each option in more detail.

Cable breakage

The connecting cables that are used to charge and synchronize the device with a PC fail over time. understand it by appearance sometimes it is impossible, and even when connected to a charger, the battery is replenished. But this does not mean that synchronization will occur.

If the iPhone does not connect to the computer via usb, then some of the individual conductors could be damaged. This happens due to frequent cable bends, or pets that love to gnaw on anything.

You can check this version using another device by connecting it to a PC via your wire. Earned - it means that the reason is in your device, everything remained unchanged - there was a cable damage.

Please note that when replacing the cord, choose original products, Chinese counterparts are often only suitable for charging. Data exchange may not occur due to damaged or fake chips inside the wire.

Checking USB ports

Another reason why the computer does not see the iPhone via usb is a problem in the ports themselves on the computer. This occurs on outdated system units or laptops, when the ability to recognize usb devices connected through them is lost.

There are several ways to deal with this problem. Let's start with the most obvious: remove the wire from one port and rearrange it to another USB connector. If nothing happens, we come to more serious actions.

Reinstall USB drivers

After making sure that the cord is working, and the iPhone is listed in the system, but does not work, you need to reinstall its driver. Most likely, the driver for the equipment version 1.0 or 2.0 was installed. All modern devices are equipped with high-speed USB version 3.0.

  • To do this, go to the "Device Manager": right-click on the shortcut "My Computer" - "Properties".
  • In the window that opens, click "Device Manager", go to the item "USB Controllers".
  • By the inscription, we determine the one related to our device, right-click on it and select "Delete".
  • Next, we agree to the operation. All that remains to be done is to get the usb cable and insert it again to install the drivers.

Update chipset drivers (USB)

Any motherboard has special chipsets that are responsible for connecting new devices to the system unit. Like most hardware components, chips cannot work without drivers, which in turn can be damaged due to operating system errors.

In this case, you will need to perform an automatic or manual driver update. Do not forget that they are different for each version of the motherboard. The main chipset manufacturers are Intel and AMD, it is on their sites that you need to look for drivers.

To do this, install the DevID program, which looks for updates on its own, or use the tools from the official website of the motherboard manufacturer.

Many often forget or simply do not realize that the problem is sometimes solved by rebooting the equipment. Regardless of whether you have a laptop or a monoblock, they need to be rebooted along with the phone.

If this does not help, and the cord and usb ports are working, it's time to restore the iPhone through DFU mode. But be careful, this entails the complete removal of personal data. Useless? Let's try to figure it out as follows.

Reinstall iTunes

It is possible that the problem is the incorrect operation of the iTunes program. Perhaps you accidentally restricted her access to the Internet, because of which, software long time was not updated. In this case, all that remains to be done is to completely remove the application and install its current version. This should restore the connection lost between the phone and the PC.

Do not forget that the program should be downloaded from the official website, otherwise there is a risk of falling for the trick of scammers or acquiring a virus.

Jailbreak

The correct operation of the iPhone with the official utility may be hindered by the so-called jailbreak, produced by some users in order to be able to install non-licensed applications.

If your device has this extension, you need to get rid of it before trying Apple's software solution. The software most likely simply will not see the hacked phone.

Other solutions to the problem

Now is the time to talk about sad things. If the above options did not succeed, or were not needed at all, then the problem is in the iPhone itself.

Determining the damage on your own will be problematic. Firstly, great importance has firmware. During the update of the operating system, a fatal error could occur as a result of which iOs was installed incorrectly, which prevents the phone from working normally when connected to a PC. Secondly, you should pay attention to the power connector. Even small blockages can cause connection problems. And thirdly, try connecting your iPhone to another computer, who knows, maybe this will be the only right solution.

However, do not forget about going to a service center, where skilled craftsmen will inspect your phone and conduct a thorough diagnosis. This is especially true for those who still have access to warranty repairs.

Conclusion

As you already understood, there are plenty of reasons why an “apple” device may resist synchronization with a computer. Most of them, the user is able to eliminate on their own. But if all attempts are in vain or you are afraid to carry out the above manipulations on your own, the right decision would be to seek help from qualified craftsmen who are able to conduct a thorough diagnosis, identify a malfunction and quickly fix it.

Your OS recognizes the iPhone in the same way as a digital camera and can copy images from it in the same way as from a memory card.

And it's done like this on a Mac:

  • After establishing a connection with a cable and after 5 seconds, as a rule, the standard application "Image Capture" automatically starts. If this does not happen, it can be opened manually (located in the program section);
  • All images will be presented in the opened window of this utility. At the same time, copying them is quite simple: you need to select the ones you need and transfer them to a specific folder.

On Windows it's a little different:

  • We connect the gadget to the computer. Literally after 5 seconds you will see a pop-up autoload window on the screen. If this does not happen, then you need to go to "My Computer" and open the iPhone as portable device(for the seventh Windows) or as a camera if you have WinXP;
  • Next, open the storage of the iPhone itself, after which we go to the DCIM folder. Its contents are, as a rule, two or three folders containing photos and video files;
  • We find our photos and copy those that need to be uploaded to the computer;
  • We paste it into a folder previously created on the PC. When you have finished importing files, you can unplug the cord from your computer.

Note. When you connect your iPhone to your computer for the first time, a message will appear on the iPhone screen asking you "Do you trust this device?" Of course, if you want to transfer photos, then you need to select the "trust" item.

If you still can't import photos to your computer, or if your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as a camera, follow these steps.

Transfer images via iCloud

Check if you can use iCloud Photo Library or My Photo Stream

If you turned on iCloud Photo Library on your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, your photos might already be on your computer.

You can go to iCloud.com and open the Photos app to browse your entire library and select photos to import. If you haven't turned on iCloud Photo Library, try accessing photos on your computer using My photostream.

If you're not using iCloud Photo Library or My Photo Stream, try the following steps.

  • Check connections and update software.
  • Try importing photos using a different Apple USB cable.
  • If the import still fails, update the software.
  • Download latest version iTunes.
  • Try to import photos again.

How to transfer photos from iPhone to computer via wifi?

In addition to connecting with a wire, photos can also be transferred via wireless connection. You will need to sync over Wi-Fi before starting the transfer.

From a computer First you need to connect the device with a cable and open iTunes. In the left part of the window, in the "Devices" block, you must select the iPhone or iPad for synchronization. In the "Overview" tab in the "Parameters" block, you will need to put a checkbox opposite "Sync. devices over Wi-Fi. Now the gadget will automatically sync when it is on the same network as the computer on which iTunes is installed.

From phone synchronization can be started through the device settings. To do this, in the "Basic" menu, you will need to select the item "Synchronization with iTunes over Wi-Fi". The presence of synchronization is indicated by the icon in the tray of the phone. The device now appears as connected. Therefore, all actions on it can be performed in the same way as when connected using a conventional cable - twisted pair.

Try another computer

If the camera does not appear in Device Manager, check if your iOS device is working properly by connecting it to another computer. If your iOS device is recognized as a camera on another computer, contact Microsoft or another Windows support service on your computer for assistance.

Apple iOS 7 does not trust my computer. Problems when transferring photos from iPhone

There is a cruel way if all attempts to enter a password have been exhausted and there is no computer that your iphone would "trust".

  1. Connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB cable that comes with the standard kit.
  2. Among all devices will appear Apple iPhone, the personal computer recognizes it as a digital camera.
  3. To access the Lockdown folder, launch the Finder program in Mac OS. In other operating systems, calling the trust window on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch is also done by clearing the Lockdown folder on the computer.
  4. After "trust" on the computer, itunes sees the iPhone.
  5. You must wait for the computer to detect the digital camera. Then you need to go into the device, select the photos, copy them to the clipboard and move them to a folder on the computer. Using iTunes, you can transfer not only photos to your computer, but also music, ringtones, videos, and more. First you need to connect your iPhone to your computer with a USD cable. When your computer beeps that it has found a new device, open iTunes.
  6. If the iPhone is configured Email, then the photos can be sent via e-mail, and then transferred to a computer. You can transfer photos without connecting a USB cable to your computer; this can be easily done through the shared folder of the Yandex.Disk cloud service.

Import photos using cloud services

An excellent alternative to the second method, because by using auxiliary cloud services, you can quickly throw off a large number of photos from iPhone to computer. For this you need good internet connection, as well as the presence of a registered account in one or more services: Yandex.Disk, drop box, Cloud Mail.Ru. With a small number of images, even email will do.

The algorithm of actions is very simple:

  • transfer photos from your iPhone to a file sharing service;
  • then download the downloaded files from the file sharing service, but only through the computer.

As you can see, copying photos from an iPhone to a computer is absolutely easy. Once you get your hands dirty, you can transfer your footage in less than 5 minutes.

When connecting your iPhone to a computer or laptop to work with digital data, the user may encounter the problem of not recognizing the device. The reason for this may be the incorrect functioning of the software or the malfunction of the Apple gadget itself.

Some breakdowns can be fixed on your own, otherwise you will have to contact the service center. Consider the reasons why iTunes does not see the iPhone and their solution.

Common problems when syncing an Apple device with a computer

Regardless, you connect your iPhone to a regular personal computer, laptop or MacBook, you may experience an out-of-sync issue. To solve a problem, you need to find its cause.

The main reasons for unstable work:

  • breakdown or incompatibility of the USB port with the device;
  • non-working or non-original USB cable;
  • problems in the software or in the operation of the Apple Mobile Device;
  • malfunctioning iPhone.

Let's consider each separately. It is necessary to adhere to the specified procedure for diagnosing the health of a PC and an Apple device.

Diagnostics of the health and compatibility of the USB port with the device

If you connect your iPhone to a USB port and nothing happens, the port may be broken or not compatible with the device. Insert a flash drive or other USB device into this port to test operation. If the device is detected and works stably, reconnect your iPhone to another port, preferably located on the back of the system unit. For stable operation, it is recommended to use USB 3.0 or higher.

If reconnection did not give any result, go to another diagnostic item.

Diagnostics of a non-working cable

Connect the cable you are using to the charger and try to charge your iPhone. If the device does not charge, the cable is the cause, replace it. Otherwise, let's move on to working with itunes software and an Apple device.

iTunes does not see the iPhone: software diagnostics

Check if the appropriate software is installed on your computer or laptop. iTunes is a universal media player that combines the functions of playing music, movies, text books, an online store and an explorer that allows you to synchronize with other devices of the Apple family for data transfer. The program is available for installation on MacOS, Windows and Linux for free. It is recommended to download the software from the official Apple website (if you have a Mac, then the AppStore), so you get the latest version of the software and a security guarantee against intruders.

Devices on operating system The Windows or MacOS families have the Apple Mobile Device service required to discover a connected Apple device in real time. Non-recognition of device synchronization may be due to its inoperability. To fix this problem, restart the service.

How to reset your Apple Mobile Device

To perform a service restart in the operating room Windows system, necessary:

  1. Disconnect the Apple device from the computer and close iTunes;
  2. Go to the control panel, find the "Administration" item, then open the "Services" tab;
  3. Find the name of the service in the list and click on the "Stop" button;
  4. Wait for a while, make sure the service has ended and re-enable it;
  5. After a successful launch, connect your Apple device and wait for synchronization.

If nothing happened, the problem is in iTunes itself or with technical part your smartphone. Find the folder with installed program, uninstall it. Download and install the latest software for your operating system version from the official Apple website.

It will not work to restart the Apple Mobile Device service on devices with the MacOS operating system using regular means. To disable it, do the following:

  1. Disconnect your iPhone and close iTunes;
  2. Delete the icons and folders with the contents of the iTunes that are in the library;
  3. Find the AppleMobileDevice.kext and AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg files, delete them;
  4. Empty the trash and reboot the devices;
  5. Reinstall iTunes;
  6. Connect your Apple device and wait for synchronization.

Consider what to do if iTunes does not see the iPhone even after performing operations with the Apple Mobile Device service.

iPhone diagnostics for USB port performance

The problem with synchronizing the device from Apple and the computer may be hiding in the unstable operation of the device itself. To begin with, make an external inspection of the smartphone. Check the charging port for dirt and small items, often this reason interferes with charging and connecting to a computer.

"Trust but check"

iOS developers thought unique system Trust in Connected Devices. When transferring information to a third-party computer or laptop for the first time, you will see the prompt "Trust this computer?". Adding a computer adds it to the list of trusted devices. If you did not allow the computer to trust your iPhone, then you still have to do this to sync with iTunes, but first you need to do some manipulations that will allow the computer to “forget” its initial ban on interaction.

If you have macOS:

  1. Open Finder, in the top menu, click transition and choose go to folder;
  2. In the field that opens, write the path /var/db/ and click go;
  3. Opening a folder lock down and delete its content. If the folder is marked with a small stop icon, it means that you do not have rights to open it, but this problem is very easily solved. Right-click on it (folder) and select properties;
  4. Here we click on the lock in the lower right corner and enter the account password;
  5. Now click on the + in the lower left corner and select your account;
  6. Next, you need to expand the user rights. To do this, opposite our "account" we change only reading on the reading and writing;
    1. We continue along the path C:\ProgramData\Apple\Lockdown(if you have 7,8,10 Windows version), for XP — C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Lockdown
    2. Delete the contents of a folder lockdown.

    If this procedure on the Windows platform did not help, then you should try updating the driver.

    If none of the above helped, contact the service center, where highly qualified specialists will determine why iTunes does not see the iPhone.

Sometimes the owners of "apple" mobile phones wonder why the computer does not see the iPhone via USB. This method of connecting gadgets is used quite often. For example, to restore an iPhone. And if the computer stops seeing the phone, a number of problems arise. Why it happens? And how to deal with such situations? We will talk about all this below. Often there is no real reason to panic. Therefore, even a schoolboy will cope with the task.

Main reasons

Why does the computer not see the iPhone via USB? Answering this question is more difficult than it seems. After all, both the telephone and the computer are complex equipment. Even a small failure of the operating system can lead to the situation under study.

Most often, users encounter the following sources of problems:

  • mechanical damage to the USB cable;
  • failure of the USB ports and the connection socket on the iPhone;
  • viruses;
  • outdated software;
  • missing or installing old versions of drivers;
  • old OS (on a computer or phone);
  • software conflict on the computer;
  • antivirus bans;
  • hardware damage and failures in the smartphone.

In fact, fixing most of these problems is easier than it seems. And then we will figure out how to establish the performance of "apple" phones when connected to a computer.

About correct connection

Why did the computer stop seeing the iPhone via USB? It is possible that the user simply connected the devices to each other incorrectly. Such situations do occur in practice.

So, in order to properly connect your iPhone to your PC, you will need:

  1. Install and launch iTunes.
  2. Insert one end of the USB cable into the iPhone, the other into the USB socket on the computer.
  3. Wait a while.

A few seconds after such a connection, the iPhone will sync with the computer. iTunes will see the appropriate technique, after which it will be possible to work with it further.

Disabled technique

Why does the computer not see the iPhone via USB? The fact is that synchronization of devices is possible only if the PC and smartphone are turned on.

Accordingly, sometimes users try to connect a discharged or turned off iPhone to a computer, and this does not work.

How to fix the situation? For example:

  1. Recharge your iPhone and try syncing again.
  2. Just turn on your phone. Reception works if there is at least some battery left on the smartphone.

But, as practice shows, the proposed problem is not so common. And even a schoolboy can fix it. What if the computer does not see the iPhone via USB, provided that all the equipment is turned on?

Cable integrity

The connection wire may be damaged. Then the only right solution is to replace the cable. You can buy it in any specialized store (with accessories for Apple or with computer equipment).

To check the performance of the USB cable, you will need to carefully examine it. Maybe some damage will be noticeable on the surface. It is advisable to connect the cable to another phone and computer.

Sometimes the cause of synchronization failures is a connection cable that is too long. For example, bought independently in the store. By replacing the wire with a shorter one, the problem can be fixed.

nests

The computer does not see the iPhone 6 via USB? If everything is in order with the cable, it's time to check the device connection sockets. Their damage is rarely visible to the eye.

Would need:

  1. Connect another device to the computer (to the "problem" socket). For example, a flash drive.
  2. Connect your smartphone through the appropriate socket to another device.

In the first case, the gadget was never detected by the operating system? This means that the USB connector is damaged. It is enough to connect the cable to another port, and the problem will disappear.

In the second case, you will have to take the iPhone to a service center. Only after repairing the connection connector on the phone will it be possible to synchronize it with the PC.

Antivirus and firewall

Computer stopped seeing iPhone via USB? Sometimes users note that a similar problem occurs with an active firewall and antivirus. These applications can block programs and other devices from accessing the operating system.

It is enough to turn them off to correct the situation. It is done like this:

  1. Right-click on the antivirus icon in the tray and select the "Exit" option. The corresponding button under the guise of "Disable" can be found in the program settings.
  2. Go to "Start" - "Control Panel" - "System and Security" - "Administrative Tools" - "Services". Go to "Firewall" and check the box next to "Disable".

Ready! Now you can retry the connection. It is advisable to restart the computer after the manipulations.

viral infection

The computer does not see the iPhone 5S via USB? If this is not the first time such a problem has occurred, you will have to check the OS for viruses. Malicious software can completely destroy computer software. Often, the lack of synchronization with peripheral devices on a PC indicates the presence of viruses.

All the user needs to do is scan the operating system using any antivirus. Detected dangerous objects are treated with a special button. Anything that cannot be removed is either quarantined or completely removed.

It is advisable to run the SpyHunter program after scanning. It helps to find and remove computer spies. Because of them, sometimes there are also problems with synchronizing devices on a PC. The application works like an antivirus.

Old programs

Why does the computer not see the iPhone via USB? If the user has not updated the operating system for a long time (including on the phone), and also if he uses old software, the problem will be obvious. Over time, outdated versions of applications simply cease to be supported.

To fix the problem, you need:

  1. Update Windows. To do this, the operating system has an "Update Wizard".
  2. Perform an iOS update. You will need to go to "Settings" - "Software Update", having previously connected to Wi-Fi, and then click on the "Update" button.
  3. Delete old version iTunes and download the latest build of the application to your computer. After initializing it, the problem with phone synchronization will be fixed.

Everything is simple and clear. The software update does not require any costs. All listed programs and applications are distributed free of charge.

Drivers

It's still not clear why the computer does not see the iPhone via USB? All of the above options for the development of events did not fit?

It is worth paying attention to the drivers installed on the computer. Their absence or an outdated version can lead to synchronization problems.

The driver update algorithm is as follows:

  1. Open the website of the device manufacturer.
  2. Select device model.
  3. Specify the operating system you are using.
  4. Download the installation file.
  5. Launch the installation wizard and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.

You can do otherwise. To update the driver you need:

  1. Open "Device Manager".
  2. Select the desired equipment and right-click on it.
  3. Go to the "Properties" section.
