This is a story that happened five years ago with the singer Vadim Kazachenko and his then future wife Irina Amanti. And before that, Vadim's fate had evolved in different ways. There was a rejection of his professional choice in the family, which he eventually managed to reverse. There was an insane popularity when songs performed by him sounded on all TV channels, on the radio and gathered thousands of stadiums. There was a difficult period and an illness that seemed incurable at that time. But all these years, his desire to sing for people remained unchanged, which he continues to do to this day.

Disciplined child

From the age of seven, Vadim Kazachenko was raised by his grandparents. They both worked at a cotton spinning mill in Poltava. My grandmother is an accountant, and my grandfather is a secretary of the party organization. Vadim's mother remarried and moved to live with her stepfather outside the city. And he stayed in Poltava, where he lived next to the school and the swimming pool, where he immediately began to go.

“I swam, went to school, was a disciplined child, got used to order. He was not at all a tomboy. I was not interested in the yard, I had no time. 4 - 5 lessons in elementary grades, after lessons in an hour and a half there is already a workout. From the 5th - 6th grade, I began to train twice a day, I had to have time to do my homework, my grandmother watched this, gave me a slap on the head.

At first there were scandals about the fours, so it was almost until the 8th grade. If in the 7th, when I was leaving for the training camp, there were competitions for 1 - 1.5 months, and then suddenly there was some sort of triple in the diary, not even in the report card, then it was a big problem ”.

But one day music crept into the life of an ordered child. It happened when, after the sixth grade, he was unexpectedly sent not to a sports camp, but to an ordinary Young Guard pioneer camp in Odessa. And there Kazachenko realized for the first time that he could sing with his own accompaniment: one of the guys in the camp was playing the guitar. And after the shift, Vadim realized that he was “ill”. Upon arriving home, he found a guitar in his uncle's apartment, which had long been gathering dust in the closet. He brought it home and mastered it on his own for a whole year. Nobody knew about it, only the family guessed.

“There were no self-instruction manuals. There were music books, six strings and the fingering of chords were drawn there, then words were obtained somewhere, chords were painted over them. In general, everything, in fact, was selected by ear. Then there was a school ensemble, and after the very first performance, guys from the Palace of Culture, older than us, came up and invited me to play in their ensemble. I agreed, and in the 8th - 9th grade I already went to earn extra money for weddings. Until the family knew about it, everything went smoothly.

But all the secret becomes clear. And one of the first such scandals was in the 9th grade, when the family council was deciding what to do with this disgrace, how to call him to order, so that he studied, so that he would already choose his profession. And my parents took me away from Poltava. I finished the 10th grade in Komsomolsk-on-Dnepr. There were no ensembles in my life ”.

About the choice

“I recently had a concert in Tula. And at the end one of the spectators tried to push a girl of about five or six years old to the stage, apparently to take a picture with me. The girl grabbed onto an armchair and not into any ... I drew attention to this and in a pause I say into the microphone: "You shouldn't force children to do what they don't want to do." This is a phrase that can describe the process of my growing up and becoming. "

Vadim returned to Poltava, having entered the Anti-aircraft missile command Red Banner military school named after General Vatutin. Upon learning of this, the Poltava musicians twisted their fingers to their temples and were perplexed. And he explained that he went to meet the family. He was convinced that the military profession was serious and promising. And he agreed. There were other arguments: almost all graduates of Kazachenko's stepfather walked along this beaten track. They were welcomed - the preparation was good. And Vadim himself at that time was a candidate for master of sports in swimming, champion of Ukraine and multiple champion of the region.

“In my first year, the political officer of the division summoned me and said:“ Your autobiography says that, in addition to your sporting achievements, you sang at dances in the city's House of Culture. The annual amateur show is coming soon. I have already found reciters, dancers, but there is no vocal and instrumental ensemble in the first year. Think about it". And what should I think, by that time I was a junior sergeant, squad leader, a Komsomol organizer, I took part in competitions, and even that! When to study?

But the army principle was clearly demonstrated to me: if you cannot, we will teach, if you do not want, we will force. And the lieutenant colonel told me: "Since you do not want to voluntarily do this, I order to organize and report within two weeks." And I organized a group called "Window to the World." The basis of our repertoire was made up of the songs "Time Machine", "Sunday" and foreign performers. "

At that competition, the "Window to the World" group performed "Black and White Color" "Time Machines" man in the world ”). The second song was foreign, only with Russian lyrics. The goal, according to Kazachenko, was provocative: to perform, and then in the political department for such a repertoire, the group will be ordered to close. And he can legally be released from this obligation.

But it turned out exactly the opposite. However, Vadim nevertheless got to the political officer, but instead of being scolded, he got gratitude - he liked everything very much. And soon the seven-year-old political officer's son, with the approval of his father, famously sang with the group a song of Hnatyuk about the drum, which had been chosen specially for him.

“In my second year I realized that I don't want to be a military man - it's much more interesting to play music. By that time, another ensemble "Auction" with my participation appeared in our school. It was created together with the soldiers who served in our school orchestra. We even performed “Deep Purple”, the professionalism of the instrumentalists allowed us to play even music of this level. And there were dreams that we could make a supergroup. And on the eve of the third session in my second year, I wrote a statement asking to be expelled because I did not want to study. This was the second family scandal... It was also a general school scandal. For four months I was not allowed into the city, for the third session I was given a troika machine gun.

In principle, it was easy to leave the school, one could insolently climb over the fence, buy a bottle of wine, drink it at the corner of the school and then come to the checkpoint, and they could be expelled for drunkenness. But then you're guaranteed to get two years urgent service, for your edification. But if you leave because of poor progress, this period was reduced. The whole family came to the checkpoint, they urged me to stay. They said the right things: “You have no education, you don’t know a single note, a musician is not a profession” ... but I was adamant, and a family boycott was announced to me. However, as I said: "Never force children ..." They will still choose their own path. "

From "Corner" to "Freestyle"

In the end, Kazachenko's report was given a go. He was demoted and sent to serve near Izhevsk, where he spent only six months, until November 1982. And already at the beginning next year on the Poltava radio were recorded the first songs of the group "Angle of View" performed by him. And after another three years, professional, in Vadim's opinion, work began with the same group already in Moscow. The guys came there at the invitation of the head of the variety show of the Kursk Regional Philharmonic to work in the Izmailovo tourist complex in building "A", in a non-alcoholic restaurant.

“We performed as part of a variety show, accompanied ballet performances. And after the program they worked as musicians in a restaurant. This was the first professional work... And in 1987 we were entirely invited to the well-known vocal and instrumental ensemble “Festival”. The leaders of the ensemble wanted to renew themselves, because Maxim Dunaevsky stopped working with them. At the very beginning, you could still accidentally hear at the end of the program “It's time, it's time, let's rejoice in our lifetime”, but then even this left the repertoire of the then “Festival”. We played our material, our toothy, melodic and all sorts of songs ... "

But the country was falling apart, and by the summer of 1988 it suddenly became clear that out of the 13 musicians of the “Festival” only three wanted to work in a group. The rest already wanted to do business. And this, undoubtedly, led first to conflicts, then to parting.

“I earned even more than all my family put together. And on tour with a group, and even earlier - in the restaurant of the tourist complex. Then my parents and grandparents had not yet relented, but they began to see what I was doing. Besides, I got married, I had a child. Everything seemed to be fine ... But in the end I left the Festival ensemble and again got a job at the Izmailovo tourist complex.

And shortly before leaving for the capital, one Poltava group became interested in me. By that time, they had already worked with Mikhail Muromov, but he left. And the leader of this group, finding himself in a situation where they were once simply not summoned on a tour to Moscow to accompany Muromov's further performance, began to look for something of his own. This is how Freestyle was born.

I must say that at that time Vadim Kazachenko had no idea that there is Muromov, there are groups “ Tender May”,“ Mirage ”. When he met with the leader of that group, he asked: "So what, they are listening to this?" And I was surprised to learn that these groups are gathering stadiums. Vadim was offered to record three new songs. There were still three days left before leaving for the capital, and he agreed. A month later, Vadim was again invited to record in Poltava. Five of these songs, in fact, made the Freestyle group. They sound now: “Goodbye forever, last love”,“ Princess ”,“ Season of Love ”,“ White Sail ”,“ Sorry, Goodbye ”.

A new round

“I still worked in a restaurant, at three sites in the evening, earning insane money - 45 rubles a day. By that time I was already divorced and lived in the Izmailovo hotel. I remember that by March of that year I had some big money accumulated. And on March 8, I spent almost all of them. Over the past months, I had to go through parting with loved ones from the "Festival", and I was left alone in Moscow.

I recorded songs with "Freestyle", they are already walking around the country, and I still sing in a restaurant .... But nevertheless, I went out to the Izmailovsky Park metro station, went to the merchants and bought several buckets of flowers. Then the whole day I congratulated the girls of the Izmaloyvo tourist complex, and by the evening I coped with it all ”.

The first concert of the Freestyle group took place in May 1989. Vadim Kazachenko worked in it for two years. The guys, according to him, worked more honestly than many of the then touring groups. And at concerts they sang those songs that they recorded, and did not open their mouths to someone else's voice. However, the real popularity came to "Freestyle" with the release of the second album. There were songs “Yellow Roses”, “White Acacia”. The group began to collect stadiums. And then Vadim, who still continued to work in the restaurant between concerts, was offered an ultimatum to quit this job.

“I left the restaurant and started renting an apartment. And I didn't think about buying it, although then it could be purchased in one and a half or two months of work, cars were more expensive ... I remember we were in Neryungri, and we were offered to buy a coupon for 25 thousand rubles, which allowed us in a special store in Moscow to buy "Zhiguli 2109" without a queue. It was then more amazing. And most often, in response to requests from the Freestyle executives, I gave half of my salary to the development of the studio. I worked in a group. ”

In 1991, Freestyle recorded its fourth album. With a new lyricist and arranger. There were songs that were significant both for the group and for Kazachenko himself. But the most iconic for him was "It hurts me, it hurts." She was knocked out of the group's repertoire, and the leader removed the song from concerts. But in the fall she went on the air of the “50/50” program and the audience liked it. However, the ban on its execution remained. Such a story. And a few months later Vadim Kazachenko himself “left” the group. The leader presented another ultimatum, the singer did not agree ... It seems to be a common story, but the money Kazachenko invested in the development of the group has not yet been returned to him. And this is already incomprehensible.

Kazachenko non-stop

“I left clean, not burdened with any material excesses. I was going to pause, I had to think about what to do next. But I was a "hot pie", I was not given such an opportunity, offering an independent tour. They also asked to help out in situations when the Freestyle concert had already been announced, and the group did not want to go there. But I had to make sure that people would be informed and if they wanted to return tickets due to the fact that there would not be the whole group, they would be able to do it ...

True, no one refused a single concert. Then came the posters "Vadim Kazachenko" a new group, my songs, separate from “Freestyle”, began to appear. I tried to collect those musicians whom I considered musicians. And I did it ”.

Kazachenko's new songs were played on the air. In 1993 he released the album "All from the Beginning" ("All from the Beginning", "Cinderella", "Yellow Night", "White Blizzards", "Letter", "Fate").

“Then television took on the fashion of making artists work with soundtracks, and I was one of those who tried to fight this. Once with “Muzoboz” we arrived in Samara. They performed at the City Day, and the VID TV company filmed, since Demidov is a local. And my director managed to include a full phonogram for me, with a voice, instead of a minus phonogram. I gave him a sign once that he was wrong, the second. And he pretends that he does not understand what it comes... Kazachenko's group worked in one of the most troubled periods in our country, when it was possible to go on tour for a month and a half, and then return from them and find out that he worked almost free of charge. Because the ruble has depreciated during this time.

“At such a time, my most active tours, the most massive, fell. 300 days a year I was on tour, and the other 30 days were enough to record new songs, shoot in Moscow. The body was healthy, the strength was. So the years passed, from 1992 to 1996. The load was very strong, both physical and nervous.

The times were then: you leave the concert, and in your dressing room there are three hefty people, a bottle of vodka is on the table: “Well, Kazachenko, who are we paying? Who do we work with? " You start talking, communicating, in the end: “Okay, let's get half a ruble each”. And you can't go anywhere ... As a result, the body malfunctioned, hair and teeth fell out, I had to endure a lot of medication load to recover ... But I was such a person, nothing stopped me at that time in my work ”.

And even the disease that Vadim Kazachenko later learned about - hepatitis - did not stop his concert activities. Although he had noticeably lost weight, he began to overwork. But there was no time for examination and treatment. They didn’t give it.

“For a year I lived in this state. Only in 1996, on the eve of the “Vote or Lose” campaign, did it finally weaken. At that time I lived near the Semyonovskaya metro station, took the elevator down from the nineteenth floor, started the car and sat for five minutes. I rested. I had such a state, it seemed to me that I had given three concerts in the morning, and I had just left the house. They drove me for two weeks, I myself could no longer go to the Burdenko hospital for treatment, and I did not work for almost a month.

In the hospital they put me on my feet, but I flew "Vote or Lose". By misunderstanding, because, in principle, he could go on a tour, but its organizers showed a strange adherence to principles, although we have been cooperating for a long time. They severely demanded that I start touring day after day with everyone. And I could only on the third day ... But I have no complaints about these people. "

Having scrambled out, but, as it later turned out, not completely, out of the disease, Vadim Kazachenko continued his touring activities. True, the halls of many thousands in large cities were replaced by more modest audiences. But people continued to love his songs. They were waiting for him. However, sometimes very dangerous situations arose ... In one of the cities Saratov region such a case happened to Vadim because of his complete refusal from alcohol since 1995. It's simple, the artist has arrived - but let him have a drink with us. A holiday, City Day! And Kazachenko refused. But to whom - the head of the city himself with his comrades!

“After the concert, I was presented with a three-minute 'flaw', although I keep track of the time very clearly. By that time, only half of the royalties had been paid to me, and the head through the concert organizer conveyed that I would not receive money if I did not go out again and sing three more songs! I refused, but the organizer fell to his knees, I took pity on him and returned to the stage. And when he was back in the room, he saw that he was completely cleaned out. I think, okay, the administrator will come now, I finished working, we will get money, tickets and go back. I went outside, got into the car and waited.

The administrator appeared, with him two more. I opened the window: “Guys, we should hurry up. Let's settle it. ” A guy with a deputy's badge came up to me: “Hey, artist, you don’t drink, you don’t respect us ... Do you think that you have come from the capital and can not drink with us? Not doing what we are going to tell you? Let's get out of here while you are alive. ” The money was not returned to us. Surprisingly, the case was already in 1999 or 2000. It seems to me that the leader should understand that when ordering an artist's performance, he buys not a person, but his work. But it also happens. "

Love and...

Now Vadim Kazachenko continues to tour the country. But not alone, but with his wife Irina Amanti, who is also the director of the singer. They met almost 15 years ago, when Vadim, as part of a group of singers, went to the first “Song of the Year” festival in America.

“There were Lev Leshchenko, Irina Allegrova, Lenya Agutin, Alena Apina ... Now all the artists are striving to perform first and quickly go home. It was different then. I remember we got together in the dressing room, and Lev Valerianovich says: “We must start somewhere, let's at least cast lots, otherwise I know you, young artists, no one wants to be the first to perform.” But I volunteered myself. They met, Amanti was married. But since then, at all Kazachenko's concerts in America and even Canada, she acted as an organizer. Then they lost each other for a couple of years, and were found again in 2004. She called first. We met first in Moscow, then at the traditional festivities- a picnic in Chicago, where Vadim was invited to speak.

By that time, Kazachenko's illness again reminded of itself - excruciating pain and complete hopelessness in terms of recovery. He could not work normally, bind himself with contractual obligations, because at any moment his health could “pump up”, and Vadim was not used to letting people down. And here Irina helped - she found an excellent doctor, and the disease completely receded. And then she filed for divorce from her husband, and invited Kazachenko on vacation in Puerto Rico ... “I started touring actively again in 2005, after Irina moved here, who became my wife. She worries about my health and does a lot of things that she hasn’t done before. In America, few people cook at home. And after twenty years of living there, having arrived in Moscow, she began to do this for us ... And Ira is also engaged in my business. Vadim and Irina recorded a new disc, having done everything with their own money. This album was released in October 2007. Half of the songs from it are included in Kazachenko's modern concert program, with a time spread from 1983 to 2008. The newest songs were made for the Superstar-2008 project.
