The fact is that a few days ago I purchased a Samsung 6 series 3D Full HD LED TV UE40ES6307 with Smart TV function, which in mandatory needed an internet connection. Why? Yes, because for new function Smart TV (Smart TV) has been developed for more than three hundred applications, such as watching movies in high quality(HD 1080p), a web browser for surfing the Internet, games, convenient services and tutorials, news, music, photos, fitness, online shopping, etc.

I will tell you about all the advantages of the Smart TV function (Smart TV) in my review in the near future. Do not miss the release of new articles on the site - subscribe to my mailing list.

In this regard, I am opening a new section on the site called "Internet, TV", where the first article will be instructions on how to connect a TV to the Internet. Naturally, this article will focus on the Internet connection of a Samsung TV. There is no particular difference between the models, and after reading this manual, you can connect a TV of any brand to the Internet.

There are 2 ways in total:

  • wireless with WiFi technology
  • wired with cable

Let's take a closer look at each method.

How to connect internet to Samsung TV using WiFi

I will connect my purchased TV to the Internet using WiFi wireless connection. it already has a built-in WiFi module.

If your TV does not have a built-in WiFi module (see the manual), then for this you need to purchase an external WiFi adapter supporting the IEEE 802.11a / b / g / n communication protocol, which is connected to an available USB port on the TV.

Attention!!! Adapters from not all manufacturers are suitable for Samsung LED TVs, but only from Samsung, for example:

To connect the TV to the Internet via WiFi wireless connection, we need to purchase a router or, in other words, a WiFi-enabled router. Before buying a router, be sure to check with technical support your provider.

For example, if your Internet connection is dynamic (dynamic IP address), then the router must be DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) compatible so that the TV is automatically assigned an IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS and every time not enter them manually.

Then we turn to the most difficult thing - this is setting up the router. Until that day, I had not come across this personally, so I carefully began to study this process according to the instructions that came with the router. Everything there was written in Russian and in "understandable" language.

I spent almost a whole day studying the instructions and was about to start implementing the knowledge I gained, when one of my friends suggested to me that the router is configured by our network provider and, moreover, completely free of charge. I could not refuse such pleasure and safely took the router into the hands of specialists. It will be safer this way.

We set it up on a first come, first served basis for about two days. After setting up on a piece of paper, I was given:

  • name (name) of WiFi network: tss_kt
  • password (key) to WiFi access: *************

We disconnect the cable of the dedicated Internet line from the computer and connect it to the "Internet" connector of our router.

Also, do not forget to supply power to the router.

After this point, you can start setting up the WiFi wireless connection on your TV. But first, we will set up an Internet connection on the computer.

The set with the router includes an RJ45 patch cord cable, though only about 50 (cm) long.

We connect one end of the RJ45 patch cord cable to any LAN port of the router (I connected it to LAN 1), and the other end to the computer's network card.

I forgot to say that when I received the router after setting it up at the provider's office, they printed out instructions on how to set up an Internet connection on my computer.

After doing the above operations for my version of Windows, the Internet on the computer started working. But now with a clear conscience back to setting up and connecting the Internet on the TV using WiFi.

Press the "MENU" button on the Samsung TV remote control and use the buttons to select the "Network" tab in the list.

Then go to the "Network Settings" tab. A window like this appears.

I want to note that navigation and prompts are very convenient in the Samsung TV.

We press "Start" and the TV will give us all found available WiFi networks.

Choosing your network " tss_kt»And enter the WiFi access password (key) received from the provider using the control panel.

The network test will start and the following message will appear on the screen:

OK it's all over Now. Our TV is connected to the internet.

If during the automatic search your WiFi network is not detected, then it's okay. Using the control panel, select "Add network" and enter the name and password (key) of the WiFi network received from the provider.

All of the above in this section can be depicted schematically:

How to connect a TV to the Internet using a cable

This way of connecting the internet to your TV is even easier. It can be broken down into 2 ways:

  • direct inclusion
  • through a router (router)

1. How to connect the TV to the Internet directly (direct inclusion)

This method is not entirely rational, but it still needs to be said about it. Suppose that a dedicated Internet line cable comes into our apartment.

We connect it directly to the TV to the "LAN" connector (rear panel).

In this case, the Internet will only work on the TV. We don't need such a method, because We use the Internet not only on the TV, but also on the yf computer, so let's move on to the second method of cable connection.

2. How to connect the TV to the Internet via a router (router)

Everything is done in the same way as when setting up a WiFi network through a router. Only in our example, a patch cord RJ45 cable was connected to the "LAN-1" connector to the computer. Now we connect the RJ45 patch cord to the “LAN-2 ″ connector and lay it up to the TV, which we connect to the“ LAN ”connector on its rear panel.

By the way, in this case, the router may be without WiFi support.

Schematically it looks like this:

After the connections made, go to the "MENU".

Press "ENTER" and a window opens:

Click "Start". If everything is done correctly, the screen will display the following message: "Connection to the wired network and the Internet is configured and ready for further use."

If during the automatic search your network was not identified, then it's okay. Go to the "MENU", select the "Network Status" item and go to the "IP Settings" tab.

In this window, we need to enter the “IP Setting” and “DNS Setting” parameters manually (take the data in technical service your provider):

  • IP address
  • Subnet mask
  • DNS server

Click "OK". If everything is done correctly, the screen will display the following message: "Connection to the wired network and the Internet is configured and ready for further use."

On this I will probably end the article on how to connect a TV to the Internet. Choose a more convenient connection method for yourself. Personally, I connected the Internet to my Samsung TV using WiFi. I didn't have to lay additional cables up to the TV, which made the connection process much easier. The speed of the Internet connection suits me perfectly, HD quality movies are downloaded without problems.

It remains only to protect your purchase from and sleep soundly.

P.S. How did you connect your TV to the Internet?

Hello friends! Now, the topic of TVs with Smart TV function is very popular. It's really cool and convenient, but many people have problems connecting these TVs to the Internet. I wrote in an article about how you can connect a TV to the World Wide Web, where I wrote what you need for this.

In this article, I want to tell you more and show how to connect your TV to the Internet using Wi-Fi wireless technology. In this way, you can connect if your TV has a Wi-Fi function, or you bought and connected an external Wi-Fi receiver. (in the article, the link to which is above, I talked about this).

Nowadays, many TVs are equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi receiver. It is very convenient, there is no need to lay any cables, etc.

We need:

  • TV itself with built-in Wi-Fi (or with external receiver)
  • Well, the Wi-Fi network itself, the installed router, for example. Perhaps you do not have a router, but there are open networks, or networks for which you have a password. And one more thing, if you can't connect to open network, then do not rush to throw off all the problems on your device, perhaps filtering by MAC address is simply enabled there.

Let's get started!

We connect Smart TV to Wi-Fi

Unfortunately, I can only show you how to do this on TV. Lg... The process itself, on other popular TVs such as Samsung, SONY, Philips, Toshiba- differs not much.

When you turn it on for the first time, the TV itself prompts you to connect to the network, via Wi-Fi, or via cable. But I'll show you how to do this through the settings, because you most likely skipped this point when you first turned it on. Or in general, the first time they turned on in the store without you.

Turn on your TV and open settings. There is a special button on the remote control for this.

Go to the tab Net and select an item.

Select the desired wireless network from the list.

Note. If you need to set the parameters for the connection yourself, click on the button "Manual configuration"... This will be needed, for example, in order to specify a static IP, connect using technology, etc.

Now we need to provide a password to connect to wireless network.

Push Ok.

If you are prompted to enter IP and DNS, then leave everything on “Automatic”. Also, a network map may be built.

Everything, you can use all the functions of the technology Smart TV! If you turn on Smart TV mode, you will see an icon that indicates that the TV is connected to the Internet.

Afterword

So, everything is very simple and straightforward. If you have a different model, or even a different manufacturer, then I think that problems should not arise. And if there are any difficulties, then write in the comments, we will sort it out together.

I connected my TV via TP-Link TL-WR841N (5 more devices were connected with it)... My internet speed is up to 15 Mb / s, real speed 2 Mbps. I did not notice any problems with Smart TV. Videos from YouTube and other services show perfectly and without delays.

Best wishes!

How to connect a TV with Smart TV to the Internet via Wi-Fi? For example LG 32LN575U updated: February 7, 2018 by: admin

Modern television technology is able to independently connect to the Internet - for this, a wired connection is usually used, which allows you to make the device part of local network... But it is very inconvenient to use wires, given that the TV can be located at a considerable distance from the computer and other devices that are also capable of reaching global network... That is why more and more modern TVs can connect to the Internet via wireless networks of the Wi-Fi standard. However, not all devices are equipped with a built-in receiver and not always have their own operating system that allows you to access high-quality content. To connect them to the network, you will need to purchase a Wi-Fi adapter for your TV - we will tell you how you should choose such a gadget.

If the TV does not have standard devices for connecting to a wireless network, this problem can be solved in other ways.

Connection method

The owners of TVs marked Wi-Fi Ready are most fortunate - they support Smart TV and are already adapted to the installation of a wireless module. The receiver for this technique is small map conforming to the PCMCIA standard or equivalent. The wireless module is installed in a special slot, due to which it does not protrude outward and does not occupy free slots. It is extremely easy to access the global network with its help - the Wi-Fi receiver only needs activation, which can be done in the system settings menu of the TV.

The set-top box connected to HDMI is very easy to use - however, only if you choose a device that is suitable for its characteristics. To connect your TV to the Internet and not face traffic restrictions, give preference to a device that supports the Wi-Fi N connection standard. If you are going to frequently open sites created using modern technologies, enjoy multimedia content, as well as run a variety of applications, an HDMI set-top box must have the following minimum characteristics:

  • Modern dual-core processor with an operating frequency of over 1.2 GHz;
  • From 512 MB of built-in RAM;
  • Separate video chip.

An HDMI set-top box that allows you to connect a TV to the Internet is relatively inexpensive - you can purchase a device in the price range of 2500–10000 rubles.

Specifications

It has already been mentioned above that a computer that connects to television equipment via the HDMI connector must comply with the Wi-Fi N connection standard. This recommendation also applies to a conventional receiver that can be connected to a device using USB, RJ-45 or an expansion slot. In addition, you should pay attention to the power of the antenna through which the connection to the wireless network is carried out. The optimal value of the Wi-Fi receiver power is 17–20 dBm, which provides a good range and stability of the connection.

In addition, the selected receiver must support the same encryption standard used by your router. Experts do not recommend purchasing devices that can encrypt a signal exclusively using the WEP method - unlike WPA2, it is outdated and can significantly limit throughput used communication channel. If the receiver is connected via USB, make sure it supports the same interface version as the TV. On the Russian market wireless modules that comply with the USB 3.0 standard are beginning to appear - of course, they will be able to work with the second version of the connector, but the data transmission speed will be limited.

The simplest solution for wirelessly connecting a TV with a router

If you own a TV made by Sony, Samsung, LG, or Toshiba, it is best to skip the idea of purchasing a third-party adapter. Of course, a proprietary receiver, connected via USB, or in the form of a card, will cost much more, but only it will give a guarantee of stable performance. The largest manufacturers in the world care about getting the maximum profit, so they block the possibility of connecting additional modules of other brands. Do not be in a hurry to rejoice if the adapter you bought works contrary to what was said above - most often the connection becomes impossible after the next firmware is released.

Subtleties of connection

Everything large quantity TVs are equipped with Wi-Fi transmitters already at the factory, and this applies even to budget models that are available to a wide range of consumers. However, devices that can only be connected to the network using additional modules are still widespread. When choosing adapters for them, pay attention to the compliance of these devices with various standards, as well as to the transmitter power, on which the detection range and stability of the connection depend. If your TV does not have operating system, you can purchase an HDMI set-top box for it, which will allow you to go online, use online content and various applications.

2) Using a wireless Wi-Fi network.

In this article, I will describe in detail how to do this with using Wi-Fi... This method requires Wi-Fi router(more precisely, a configured Wi-Fi network) with Internet access and a TV itself that supports a Wi-Fi connection. Whether your TV supports a wireless connection, you can check the technical documentation for the TV or information on the official website of the TV. If your TV does not support a wireless network, but does support Smart TV, you can purchase a USB Wi-Fi adapter for your TV model and thus provide yourself with a wireless connection.

What does a Wi-Fi TV connection give ?! First of all, it frees you from unnecessary work, namely, pulling network LAN cable from the router, sometimes it is very difficult. But if you have low speed The Internet, the Wi-Fi connection for you will not be The best way, since no matter how good your router is, in any case, during wireless transmission, the speed of the Internet is lost and it may not be enough for the comfortable work of Smart TV, in this case you are better off connect the TV using a LAN cable .

In this article, I will take a closer look at how to set up the Internet on your TV. LG with webOS, but similar setting will be on other TVs too - Philips, Samsung, Sony etc.

The first step is to go to the TV settings, for this, if you have a regular TV remote, press the "Settings" button.

If the path is Remote magic, click the "Input" button.

And in the TV menu select the gear icon.

From the menu select "Network" - "Connect to a Wi-Fi network".

A window will open in which you will see all available wireless networks and different ways connecting to them. I propose to disassemble each of the methods separately.

Connecting the TV to Wi-Fi by entering a password.

I propose to start with the most popular method by entering the password from the wireless network. To do this, select the network you want to connect to.

Enter the password from the network and click "Connect".

As a result, you will see a check mark appeared in front of your Wi-Fi network.

And in the Network menu, in the "Connecting to a Wi-Fi network" field, the line "Connected to the Internet" will appear.

Connecting the TV to a hidden network.

If your wireless network is hidden, in the connection menu, select "Configure Hidden Wi-Fi" network.

Enter the network name, then select the security type and enter the password if the network is password protected.

Setting up the TV to connect to a wireless network using WPS.

WPS(Wi-Fi Protected Setup) is a standard developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance to simplify the process of setting up and connecting to a wireless network. In particular, for this method, you do not need to know the password from the Wi-Fi network at all, the main thing is to have physical access to the router.

To connect the TV to a wireless network using this method, select "WPS Connection - PBC" from the TV menu.

Then, no later than 2 minutes. press the WPS button on the router. Most routers have this feature enabled by default, but it's better to connect to the router's web interface and make sure of it.

After a few seconds, your TV will connect to the wireless Wi-Fi network.

Connecting the TV to Wi-Fi using WPS-PIN.

For this method, select the appropriate item in the TV menu "Connect using WPS-PIN".

A code will appear on the TV screen, which must be entered into the settings of the router.

Connect to the web interface of the router, find the settings related to WPS, for example, on TP-Link routers, there is a separate WPS item, select it and click the "Add device" button.

After that, enter the password indicated on the TV (if the password has already disappeared, repeat the action and select "Connect using WPS-PIN", a new password will appear that will differ from the first).

After that, you should see a window about the successful connection of the device.

Conclusion.

As you may have noticed, connecting the TV to a wireless Wi-Fi network is very simple task that even a child can handle. But sometimes there are problems with connecting the TV to Wi-Fi, in order to fix them, try the following steps:

1) Turn off and on the router and try again;

2) Reset the router settings to factory settings and configure again;

3) Update the router's firmware;

4) Update software TV via USB flash drive.

Video of TV connection to the Internet using LAN, Wi-Fi.

We know that a router is a device that provides Internet access to computers and mobile devices. It has been like this for a long time, but now the scope of use of routers has expanded. For some time now, TVs have also been connected to them. What for? We will talk about this in this article.

What is Smart TV

Smart TV is smart TV. Which is actually not television at all. This a set of additional features that expand the functions of your TV:

  • A full-fledged replacement for terrestrial television. By connecting the TV to the Internet, you can watch films and broadcasts from any resources at any time, of which there are many on the network.
  • You can watch YouTube videos and social networks right on top of it.
  • Wireless mouse, keyboard and webcam will turn it into a PC analog.

Open Facebook and Vkontakte directly from your TV! Chat on Skype on big screen! All this is Smart TV.

Choosing a router

Most modern TVs are equipped with the Smart TV function. But to take advantage of its capabilities, you need to connect the TV to the Internet. And for this you need a router. Some users think that Smart TV needs some kind of special router, with additional bells and whistles, without which smart TV will not work. This is not true.

The TV connects to the network in the same way as any other device - via cable or Wi-Fi... And he doesn't care how and through what devices to establish a connection with the Internet. Therefore, if you already have a router at home and you are thinking about buying a TV with Smart TV function, you will not need any additional devices. Connect your TV to your device and enjoy.

If you don't have a router, you can buy any one.

One "but" - if you use several devices at home at the same time, for example, a laptop, smartphone and TV, do not buy budget models. A budget router may not be able to handle the load and online video will slow down.

Connection

By cable

You can connect the Internet to the TV via cable directly, but this will only work if your provider does not use a PPPoE or L2TP connection. We will not consider a direct connection here, but immediately move on to the question Smart settings TV through a router. As an example, let's take the connection of Samsung TVs with Smart TV to the Internet through a router via a LAN cable. For all models, the procedure is almost identical. For other manufacturers, the Internet connection is configured in a similar way.

To connect to the router, we need a cable. The patch cord that comes with the router is usually short and will only work if they are side by side. Cable the desired length can be purchased at any computer store.

Connection diagram

We plug one end of the cable into any free LAN port on the router, and connect the other to the network jack on the TV. It is located on the back panel and looks exactly like the network card slot on your computer.

Customization

Now on TV open the menu and look for the item "Network Settings"(on most models, the path looks like this: "Settings" - "Network" - "Open network settings"). In the case of a cable connection, a message appears that the cable is connected. You just need to click in the opened submenu "Start". That's it, you can use Smart TV.

You may need to select a connection method for your TV model first. In this case - "Cable". And click "Next". If you are using a static IP address, at this point you must enter it using the on-screen keyboard. If your router distributes addresses automatically, the TV will immediately connect to the Internet.

Wi-Fi

Wireless connection has the main advantage - there is no need to entangle an apartment with a cobweb of wires to connect multiple devices. If you want to use this particular method, choose a TV equipped with a Wi-Fi module. If there is none, an external USB adapter can be purchased separately... Just check if it is compatible with your TV model.

We will assume that your router is configured, the Internet is working and there are no problems with connecting client devices. On the TV, we are looking for the same menu item "Network settings" as described in the cable connection. Since the cable is not connected, you will be prompted to configure the connection by clicking Next. We select the connection method "Wireless network" and wait until available wi-fi connections are found.

From this list, select our own and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the password. If you have, the TV will connect to the Internet. If you are using static IP addresses, you will have to enter the address manually.

It is also possible on some devices.

Through the prefix

Why such difficulties? - you ask. After all, a set-top box is an extra device in the "TV - router - Internet" link. Yes that's right. But only if your TV has a built-in Smart TV function. And if you have an old model, and you want to try smart television? Or does your functionality not suit you? After all, as a rule, budget models have a minimal set of functions, and they do not always work well.

To transform regular TV in smart you can use a Smart set-top box. The main thing is to be able to connect it. The set-top box connects to the TV via HDMI port... On the TV, you need to specify the HDMI port as the signal source. The TV box itself is connected to the router via cable or Wi-Fi.

Connection diagram

Below is a diagram in which a router with a TV set-top box is connected via an Ehternet cable. It is also possible to organize this connection via Wi-Fi.

After you have connected the set-top box to the TV, an image should appear on the screen. The set-top boxes run the Android operating system with a special shell optimized for TVs.

Now you can use Smart TV even if this function is not available on your TV.

Connecting a TV to a computer or phone via a router

TVs with Smart TV or DLNA function can play video files from your computer's hard drive. However, to do this, you need to connect the TV to your computer via a router via LAN cable or Wi-Fi and perform some settings. We considered connecting the TV to the network in the previous paragraphs. You will probably not have any problems with connecting a PC. Now all that remains is to open access to the necessary folders on the computer. The list of media files will be displayed on the TV in the corresponding section of the menu.

With the DLNA function active, you can click on a file on your computer and select "Play to ..." (your TV model will be indicated). The video file will start playing on the TV screen.

In the same way, you can connect an Android smartphone or tablet to the TV using a router.... Both devices must be connected to the same network. You will be able to play media files from your smartphone on your TV.

Conclusion

Finally, a small remark. We looked at various ways to connect your TV to the Internet through a router. They all work, but not always equally well.

Freezing, picture quality issues, and other complications may occur when watching high quality movies over Wi-Fi.

In this case, it is better to use a cable connection - it will provide stable data transfer.
