How to get there?

Quite a lot of direct flights fly to Montenegro from Russia. In the cities of Podgorica, Tivat and Herceg Novi there are international airports, therefore, it is more convenient to get to Dobra-Voda from these cities. You will need to cover a distance of 50-70 km, the travel time will be 1.5-2 hours. You can go by bus or call a taxi. If you are traveling by car, then the road from the city of Bar leads to the village of Dobra Voda (only 15 minutes drive).

Dobra Voda (Montenegro) is a small resort village between Bar and Ulcinj. Up to 1,000 people permanently live here, and all of them are employed in the tourism industry in high season. There are few vacationers in Dobra Voda even in July-August, and they come here just for solitude. IN last years Montenegrin authorities are actively building up the resort, so in a few years the situation may change.

Dobra Voda beach

If you don’t want to go pretty, but you want to relax by the sea, then pay attention to the small neighboring resort. I advise you to go personally, then you yourself will answer the question “Good Water or Bar?”. If you don’t like it, then come back, between cities it’s a 15-minute drive. It takes an hour to drive to the main center of the entire coast of Montenegro - Budva.

Dobra Voda - from the middle of the 20th century to the present day

The first mention of locality Dobra Voda dates back to 1948. Yes, the village is not even a hundred years old, while some of its neighbors appeared before our era. According to the census of the middle of the 20th century, 600 people lived in the village of Dobra Voda (Montenegro). Up to early XXI century there was not even a resort here. In the village there were dachas of the Serbian middle class, on the coast and in the vicinity, local residents grazed their cattle.

During Yugoslav times, state tourism began to develop here. The Montenegrin resort of Dobra Voda has become famous for its healing air and clean water. Therefore, local authorities, with the support of the USSR, built sanatoriums here. They did not have time to open them for everyone - the war broke out in Yugoslavia, and then the country fell apart. So the sanatoriums did not even really start to work.

With the development of the tourism business, all places suitable for resorts began to be actively built up. This fate did not pass and Dobra Voda. The old buildings of the sanatoriums were demolished, some were converted into hotels. So far, Dobra Voda (Montenegro) remains in the category of quiet resorts. Tourists often stay in Budva or Bar, and sometimes go to the beach here.

So, if you want to have time to relax in silence - hurry up. From October to April, new hotels are constantly being built here, and projects are stopped only in the summer so as not to scare away tourists. But a start has been made, and soon Montenegrin Dobra Voda will also attract crowds of tourists.

Weather in Dobra Voda

The climate of the resort is the same as in the neighboring Bar or Ulcinj. This is mediterranean type with roast long summer and mild rainy winters. In July-August, the air warms up to 35 degrees, water - up to 25 degrees. June is a little cooler, but not by much. May and September - best months not only for swimming, but also for walking. Not as hot as in summer, but the water is warm enough.

Reviews about Dobra Voda show that in low season there is absolutely nothing to do here. Most hotels, shops and cafes are closed. Only 1,000 people of the local population remain in the city. There are no tourists either. In December-January, the air temperature in the resort drops to 6 degrees at night and 12 degrees during the day. The only reason to stay here in winter - you can find accommodation much cheaper than in Bar or Budva.

Dobra Voda beaches

Barskaya Dobra Voda, due to its small size, offers small beaches. The two main ones are Veliki Pesak and Mala Pesak. Respectively, Big Sand and Small Sand. The names are deceiving, because the beaches in Dobra Voda are pebbly, there is very little sand on them. The pebbles are small and medium, without sunbeds it is not very convenient to sunbathe. Umbrellas and sun loungers on the beaches are rented, on the waterfront you can eat in a cafe. At the height of the season, city beaches can be dirty. Beaches at hotels are cleaned every day.

Briefly about the main features of the resort's beaches:

  • Great Pesak. Located in the center of the resort, occupies 600 meters. The cover is mostly small pebbles with sand. Partially surrounded by oaks and olive trees. Water attractions only in season. The entrance to the water is gentle.
  • Small Pesak. Located in the northern part of Dobra Voda. Partially wild, no entertainment. But there are much fewer tourists here than on the main beach.
  • David Beach. Continues Veliki Pesak beach in the north. In terms of cleanliness, entertainment, infrastructure, it is identical to the main Dobra Voda beach.
  • Wild beach. Located in the far north of the village. Completely wild, narrow, pebbly. There are practically no tourists.

On all the beaches of Dobra Voda in Montenegro, you can relax with children, as the reviews say. The entrance to the sea is gentle everywhere, large stones no, just a medium pebble. In summer there are attractions for children. If you get bored, you can go to Bar, Budva or Ulcinj.

All the beaches of the resort village are marked on the map, which you will find below.

Attractions Dobra Voda

There are no attractions at all, except for the villa of Roman Abramovich. Local residents are happy to show it from the sea during boat trips. This is the main entertainment here along with sea fishing.

Recently, in the resort of Dobra Voda (Montenegro), in the bay near Veliki Pesak beach, the ruins of a church were found. According to preliminary dating with the help of coins found there, the oldest parts of the church date back to the 4th century. But it will be a long time before the ruins become a tourist attraction.

Therefore, I advise another entertainment - a trip to the observation deck. It is located a couple of kilometers from the northern edge of the village. Playground with an area of 200 square meters opened in 2016. There is parking, but you can also walk from Dobra Voda.

What to see in the surroundings?

  • - the historical part of the bar, turned into an open-air museum.
  • - once a pirate stronghold, conquered later different nations from the Ottomans to the Venetians.
  • Skadar Lake is the main freshwater body of Montenegro. Just driving along it is already a pleasure. One of them leads to a magical place that I recommend to everyone to visit.
  • - an abandoned city 500 years ago, which was once larger than Kotor. From there, magnificent views of the glacial Lake Shass open.

Bar or Dobra Voda?

The answer to the question "Dobra Voda or Bar?" depends on the purpose of your trip. If you want shops, restaurants, attractions and people around, then choose Bar. There are two whole cities there - a new port on the coast and an old one with ancient buildings a little higher in the mountains. There are many beaches, although the central one is quite dirty due to its proximity to the port.

If the infrastructure and attractions are not as important as a quiet rest and swimming, then Dobra Voda will the best choice. From here you can always go to neighboring cities to look at historical monuments or visit a museum. The distance along the route "Dobra Voda - Bar" or "Dobra Voda - Ulcinj" allows you to meet half a day.

Resort Reviews

Dobra Voda (Montenegro) in summer and Dobra Voda in the rest of the year are two different resorts. Residents come here during the high season former Yugoslavia, tourists from the CIS are increasingly coming. Because of this main beach often crowded and dirty. But locals do everything to make tourists feel comfortable. If you do not want to live in a crowded Budva, then Dobra Voda is a good option.

In winter, Dobra Voda, reviews of which I also wrote, seems to die out. Only local residents remain here, who rent housing for a penny. If you are not afraid to get bored, then come in the winter. But be prepared that until the beginning of the swimming season, new hotels are being actively built in Dobra Voda. You can't live in complete silence. Yes, and you always have the option to go to the Bar if you don’t like something.

Where to eat in Dobra Voda

So far, there is only one place on my list, but it will be replenished. I highly recommend dining at least once in the restaurant of the Kalamper Hotel & Spa. It is located on the first floor. There is a lounge bar on the rooftop of the hotel with a cool view, but the menu of the bar is different from the restaurant, so my review is about the restaurant.

The prices are slightly above average, but the service and cuisine are beyond praise. For three, lunch cost 35 euros, but we didn’t take almost meat / fish dishes, so such a small price tag. I took tomato potage and risotto with vegetables. Both dishes are beyond praise. My friend ordered salmon in cream sauce and he was also very commendable. If you come to Dobra Voda for at least half a day, then dine here - you won't regret it.

Where to live in Dobra Voda

The small village has more than 150 accommodation options from budget guesthouses to luxury four-star hotels. One of them was mentioned in the previous section. Village map

On the map, I marked the beaches of the village of Dobra Voda, as well as the places of accommodation, which I talked about in the article. So it will be easier to understand and decide on the place of residence.

How to get to Dobra Voda

As in any village south of Bar. All tourists arriving in Montenegro have two airports to choose from, from which they will need to get to the resort:

  1. Podgorica Airport – 60 kilometers to Dobra Voda. Regular and charter flights fly, in the summer there are most of them. Can be reached from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa.
  2. – 71 kilometers to Good Water. The same airlines fly from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod. If you have a choice, then fly to Podgorica, it's closer to go from there.

To Dobra Voda by public transport

Buses and taxis run from Tivat airport to the resorts of Dobra Voda, Bar, Ulcinj. Buses do not run from the terminal itself, so taxi drivers will insistently offer to take you at least to the bus station in the city.

If you are interested in how to get there public transport to Dobra Voda from Podgorica Airport, then read the article "" - this issue is discussed in detail, only you will need to leave earlier.

At the bus station in Podgorica or Tivat, since you are already there, always check the current schedule. It changes every season. A direct bus trip from Podgorica to Dobra Voda takes 1 hour 10 minutes, from Tivat 1 hour 40 minutes. All buses to Ulcinj are also suitable for you - it is located south of Dobra Voda.

There are no trains to the resort, but you can take a high-speed train from Podgorica to Bar. There are 10 trains per day. Further along the route "Dobra Voda - Bar" you can easily overcome the distance by any minibus.

I know that a lot of people think that Montenegro is all mountains. Nothing like this! Here, by the way, there are 73 kilometers of the cleanest, you can even say pristine beaches with amazingly clean sea water and the Dobra Voda resort is no exception.

I just want to warn you that this is small village in which there are no modern five-star hotels and related paraphernalia. Housing here is rented from local residents, but in general, ideally, this is a place for those who like to live in a tent on the shores of the gentle sea. There are two magnificent beaches Great Piesak and Small Piesak. Their special difference is clear water with a turquoise hue.

If you suddenly want to taste the fruits of civilization, then nearby, literally 7 km. the city of Bar is located (Bar is the name of the city and not what you thought).

There are not many restaurants and other entertainment venues on the territory of the resort, and from those that are, I would like to highlight the XXL restaurant, which offers mouth-watering fish dishes and wonderful local wine.

HOLIDAY PRICES:

How much does a vacation in Good Water cost? August 2016.

tour cost

Arrived in Montenegro from Moscow. We were on holiday for a whole month. For citizens of the Russian Federation, a visa is not required, in the territory of Montenegro it is allowed to stay up to 90 days. We were staying with friends, so we didn't have to pay rent. Plane tickets were booked through the aviasales website, for two people it was 46,000 rubles (round trip). Arriving at the airport in Tivat, we decided to get to the place of rest by bus, because in this way it turns out much more profitable than using a taxi. It is about 60 km from Tivat airport to Dobra Voda, so a bus ride for two came out 19 euros, while a taxi would have cost 50 euros.

Prices for excursions are not high. Sightseeing tour of all the monasteries of Montenegro, incl. visiting the most holy places, such as Ostrog Monastery, Tsetinsky Monastery, etc. costs 40 euros per person. A boat trip from Dobra Voda to Budva costs 10 euros per person. However, after reviewing the price list, we decided that it would be much more profitable to use the services of Rentacar. A car rental day costs 35 euros. The car was rented for 2 days in Bar. On the first day we visited the southern part of the coast of Montenegro, namely the city of Ulcinj, Old city Ulcinj, city beach, Great sand beach, Ada-Boyana river, after which we went to the coast of Skadar Lake. This path lay through mountain peaks and beautiful mountain villages. The next day we visited the Ostrog Monastery, the city of Cetinje, Mount Lovcen, on which the mausoleum of Negush is located, then the city of Budva. Thus, the price for the car and gasoline was only 90 euros for two days.

Food and products

Prices in cafes have become more expensive compared to previous years. Soft drinks cost 1-1.5 euros, a glass of beer-1.5 euros, coffee-2 euros, national soup Chorba 2.5 euros, Meshano Meso dish, which includes 400 grams of meat and a portion of french fries - 7 euros. The portions are very large, so Meshano Meso took one for two. A check for two people comes out on average 14 euros. Prices in stores are about the same as in Moscow. Example: a huge loaf of bread - 0.6 euros, milk - 1.6 euros, tomatoes - 0.6 euros, peaches - 0.8 euros, meat - 2.5 euros per kg, a bottle of Vanac wine 2.5-5 euros. It is cheaper to eat on your own than to visit restaurants and cafes every day. These products were purchased at the Voli supermarket. Basically, the prices in the markets are the same.

Souvenirs and other goods

Prices for clothes again please. Branded clothes from Italy can be bought much cheaper than in Moscow, especially during the discount period that takes place in Montenegro in the fall. T-shirts and shirts cost an average of 10-15 euros. A leather jacket from Italy during the discount period can be bought for 25-30 euros. Souvenirs cost 1-3 euros.

Cost of services and entertainment

Car rental - 35 euros a day, taxi fare - 1 euro - 1 km, you can negotiate cheaper with private individuals, even at the price of a bus. The bus from Bar to Budva costs 4 euros per person.
