During the period of active growth of the city, the right to carry out ferry transportation was highly valued. Municipal authorities endowed them with private individuals for a certain time for an appropriate fee.

At the peak of the development of the ferry service, about 50 ships were operating. But by the middle of the 20th century, their number had significantly decreased. The most sought after routes were replacement bridges. In addition, all more popular began to use the subway and surface transport. The last route "Sedlec - Castles" was closed in 1950.

The situation changed significantly only in 2005, when the Prague Integrated Transport Company (PID ), which is responsible for the operation of all public transport in the capital, opened the first ferry service.

At the moment, there are five routes across the Vltava, but the authorities are planning to develop water communication, since it is not only profitable in terms of economy, but also environmentally friendly.

The Vltava is blocked by several dams - boats have nowhere to roam. No one opens the gates for them. Almost all tourist boats go in the very center of Prague - under the Charles Bridge, past the Prague Castle and the Letensky Gardens to the Okhotnichy Island and back. It turns out about an hour of walking along the entire coast of the Old Place - just what you need. The anchor is the pier where we got on the boat, the crosses are the turning points.

2.

We start in Malaya Strana, from a small embankment behind the Kafka Museum. Before sailing, enjoy the view of the Charles Bridge and feed the swans. Crispy salty sticks from a nearby stall they kill for a sweet soul.

3.

There are not just a lot of boats on the Vltava - there are an unrealistically many of them. Large, small, two-deck, antique, modern - for every taste. They stand almost at any descent to the water (usually on both sides of the bridge). A standard hourly walk costs 250-300 crowns (150-200 hryvnias). With dinner and musicians - twice as expensive. Do not be fooled by the first boat that comes across or low price- it is better to pay 50 crowns more, but not in a pelvis for 150 people, but on a small boat for 20 people. And if you still walk two hundred meters away from the most popular berths, it may turn out that there will be no passengers except you.

4.

5.

Having fed all the hungry swans, we see a small boat nearby on the pier. There are no people other than us. The captain says he's leaving in 5 minutes. According to Odessa experience, we do not believe him and are preparing to wait at best for 40 minutes. Imagine our surprise when exactly 5 minutes later the boat sailed.

6.

To begin with, we swim under the Charles Bridge to turn around.

7.

8.

On the left - the island of Kampa, on the right - Mala Strana. They are separated by a small canal Chertovka. Above them rises St. Vitus Cathedral - the dominant of the entire old center.

9.

Bellevue House and the embankment of the Old Place.

10.

March of penguins across the Vltava. It is immediately clear that the Museum of Modern Art is located in the next building)

11.

National Theater and Legia Bridge. On the other side of the dam, dudes are floating on a huge swan))

12.

We turn around and swim up to the Charles Bridge from the other side.

13.

I wonder what these log structures are for? Not only to illuminate the bridge?

14.

Charles bridge and hot air balloon over Smichov. We'll see him soon)

15.

Concert hall Rudolfinum and Manes bridge. they look more interesting.

16.

The building of the government of the Czech Republic. For some reason, it reminds me a lot of the Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv.

17.

We swim up to the Svatopluk Cech bridge. It was built in 1908. This is the only arched metal bridge in Prague and, by the way, the shortest. Until 1961, the pavement on it was wooden. Named after the iconic local writer. Concrete supports adorn the figures. On the one hand - women with torches, the Czechs call them svetlonoshi.

18.

On the other - gloomy three-headed hydras with the coat of arms of Prague.

19.

Stefanikov Bridge. This photo clearly shows how many tourist boats, boats and longboats simultaneously sail along the Vltava.

20.

The balloon, which we saw at the very beginning of the journey, flew over Stary Mesto and caught up with us near the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

22.

Agree, it is much more pleasant to walk on a small boat than on such a pelvis. The huge Soviet building in the background is the district administration. One kind can guess))

23.

The first Prague power plant. The audio guide said that she is currently running all the lights in the city. To be honest, I kind of can't believe it. If you turn on the fantasy, it looks a bit like a ship. Although I am skeptical about such similarities.

24.

Immediately behind the island with the power plant, the Vltava is blocked off by another dam. This is where the walking trails end. We turn around and return to Prague Castle.

25.

Before sunset, there is still time to stroll along the promenade. View from Malaya Strana to Nove Mesto. On the right, you can see the Children's Island with a colonnade and it is not clear what the sculpture depicts. And right in the center, behind a tree - the famous "dancing" house.

26.

A tram on the Legia Bridge and part of Streltsy Island.

27.

Nove Mesto. Seven-story houses in the historic center can also be beautiful. Two black boats - a hotel on the water. I want to stay in something like this - it's terribly interesting. Has anyone lived like this?

28.

Malostranska water tower and the other end of Children's Island.

29.

Legia Bridge and National Theatre.

30.

On the right is the Shitkovsky water tower. Built in 1560.

31.

Small Country. The Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral rise.

32.

The wheel of an old watermill in one of the backwaters near Charles Bridge. Almost Venice))

See Prague from a different perspective. To do this, you do not need to rise in a balloon over the Czech capital, everything is much simpler. two hour boat cruise on the Vltava with dinner and music will be an unforgettable experience for you. Walking will allow you to take a completely new look at already familiar places. In those months when it gets dark earlier, you will have the opportunity to see the sights of Prague mysteriously illuminated. However, an unforgettable dinner and during the summer months, you will enjoy a pleasant summer twilight on the deck. The pleasant atmosphere will be complemented by live music and dinner served during the cruise in the form of a buffet. You have a choice of hot and cold dishes. The price of the cruise includes an aperitif.
River excursions begin at the pier embankment. Dvorak between Chekhov and Stefanikov bridge. Here you will find a small boat, with a warm lower deck and an open upper deck. As soon as the boat leaves the pier, you will see a panorama that catches your eye from the first minute of the trip. Here it seemed a monumental building in the Secession style of the early 20th century. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is located here. The facades of its building are decorated with bas-reliefs, sculptures and other architectural decorations that can be seen from the open deck of the ship. Ancient palaces and modern buildings located along the banks of the Vltava create the feeling that boat on the Vltava river travels out of time. Panoramic views that open up to your eyes, in an amazing way combine bygone eras and our days. The InterContinental Hotel is a building of the era of socialism, harmoniously adjacent to Paris Street, and the Jewish Quarter with the Old-New Synagogue of the 13th century. But on the left bank of the Vltava, a neo-baroque building appears. This is the seat of the Government of the Czech Republic, once the former Strakov Academy. From afar, a black mass hanging over the Vltava is visible - this is the Charles Bridge with towers and huge sculptures of saints. One of the most popular places in Prague, which is associated with many historical facts and mysterious stories, stands on 16 powerful pillars that form deep arches. When the boat passes between the bridge supports, it seems that the panorama of medieval Prague will soon appear from the other side. However, let's put aside mysticism, behind the Charles Bridge appeared the museum of the founder of the Czech composer school - conductor, composer and pianist Bedrich Smetana. Nearby rises a water tower with a clock. On the left side there is a building with a golden crown - the National Theater. Along the way you will see the most famous Prague sights such as: Anezsky Monastery, Prague Castle, Rudolfinum, Charles Bridge and the National Theatre, you can also see the Dancing House, Emauzy and Vysehrad.

The price of the excursion includes: excursion, aperitif upon arrival on the ship - traditional Czech liqueur Becherovka dinner served as a buffet (buffet).
