University graduates can take advantage of a loophole in the law on education

To date, citizens of the Russian Federation have only the only opportunity to receive. However, certain norms of the law make it possible to find an opportunity to study a second specialty at the expense of the state.

Not everyone knows that a Russian graduate with a specialist diploma has a free opportunity to enter a master's program in any of the thematic courses he has chosen.

Recall that Russia's participation in the Bologna process led to the country's transition to a two-tier education system. And after December 31, 2010, bachelor's and master's qualifications became the main ones for graduates of Russian higher educational institutions.

Bachelor's degree, as the first stage of the adopted system, enables a student to get a higher education in 4 years professional education broad profile, in contrast to the traditional Soviet-era "specialty", which involved mastering a narrow specialty. Learning programs bachelors have international status and allow a university graduate to move to any compatible profession in one year. Magistracy, respectively, is the highest level of the “Bologna system”.

In fact, the transition to the standards of the 3rd generation - a two-level education system has already taken place. However, 10% of university students are still studying in the old programs. And it was they who had the opportunity to supplement their professional higher education a new free add-on for any profile of your choice - a master's program. It turns out that the magistracy has become for such graduates an analogue of a second higher education.

Nesterova Lyudmila, Scientific Secretary of the Academic Council of Vyatka State University:
- This practice has appeared quite recently, so not all university graduates have yet managed to understand the advantages of a master's degree. To receive this level of education, firstly, is profitable, since there are budget places, and secondly, it is convenient, because additional specialization expands the graduate's opportunities in terms of employment. Also, a master's degree is an opportunity to get an academic degree, making less effort for this than in graduate school. Therefore, the magistracy is more loved, but less known about it.

In the educational and methodological department of Vyatka State University, they explained to us that this year there were 57 budget places to the magistracy. It was possible to become a master according to the competition for graduates, having passed only 1 exam. In addition, undergraduates studying for grades 4 and 5 were awarded a scholarship similar in size to the usual one.

University graduates who wished to continue their studies in the magistracy assessed the opportunity differently.

Tatyana, 23 years old:
- She graduated from the Faculty of Philology, but always dreamed of becoming a psychologist. I was very excited about the opportunity to go to graduate school. This is additional knowledge and a chance to get a job.

Elena, 22 years old:
- I received an education in the specialty of service and tourism, but I realized that it was not mine and entered the magistracy of the Faculty of Law. I was already disappointed in my decision - it is easier to get knowledge and skills in production, a master's degree is a waste of time.

Denis, 23 years old:
- Classes in the magistracy seem boring, because I work, I do not have time to attend all the classes. However, the thought that it is additional education, and in any case it will come in handy in life.

Postgraduate studies, as an analogue of the second higher education, of course, have their pluses and minuses. One way or another, as everything was explained to us in the same educational and methodological department of Vyatka State University, this loophole in the law on education did not last long. In the near future, the Duma plans to deal with the situation and cancel this benefit for people with a complete higher education.
