With World of warships, in my case, it was something like this. We were tired of tanks, we had to play something. Decided to try ships. I played it, but somehow it didn’t work, most likely it’s not even that I chose the wrong nations and classes, but it’s just such a game that it doesn’t start the first time. In general, after playing a little, I scored on the game.

Six months have passed and I decided to understand her again and forgive her. This time it seems to have gone and dragged on, quite a worthy toy. Enough of the lyrics, got carried away.

I will evaluate by 10 levels and their suitability, and not about the entire branch.

Best tier 10 destroyer

Here I would like to note 2 destroyers and I downloaded them in parallel.

Shimakaze– a Japanese destroyer, in my opinion the best level 10 invisible plow, can send 15 surprises at a time with a large one-time damage. The disguise indicator is not the best in the game, but it is enough. The main caliber guns are rarely used, but they are good and you can strain enemies with smoke. Meeting with artillery destroyers is contraindicated. Turrets spin badly, shoot rarely. To do this, 2 twin towers are at the back, and 1 at the front. This was done on purpose in order to better fire on the retreat. And the tactic works, especially against destroyers with poor ballistics. My Shima with 10% HP of full Bensons and Gearings was dismantling. The latter is more difficult, of course, but sometimes it works with inexperienced caps.

Advice. While we are downloading the branch of the Japanese destroyers, and it is all good, like the second alternative, we leave the emins of levels 7 and 8 in the hangar - Akatsuki and Kagero. Or their parallel siblings. If destroyers enter as a class, they will come in handy for ranked battles if you don't plan to buy premium ships for that. True, the captains will either have to download again, or retrain with Shimakaze.

GearingAmerican destroyer, a mixture of bulldog and rhinoceros. And hellish guns at close range can also spoil with torpedoes. Very fast-firing guns, but with poor ballistics. It makes sense to fight against destroyers only at close range, but in this case it burns out in years. It has two 5-pipe vehicles with nice torpedoes, they are hardly noticeable, they swim quickly (you can speed it up with a perk due to the range), less noticeable than Shima’s, but they also do less damage, medium ones. There is a fence. Of the minuses low speed Gearing. A really nice wagon, like his entire branch.

A few words about Khabarovsk, a very cool destroyer, but complex, the branch is heavy. It can't cope with the work of a destroyer, it's almost a cruiser. I upgraded the branch quickly, because I was lucky with the introduction of an alternative branch, some ships went without pumping and I jumped over level 8. Ship for experienced players.

Best Tier 10 Cruiser

ZAO- Japanese cruiser, easy to learn, good main battery, glue torpedoes, low visibility, low HP, but not spent so quickly. The citadel is well defended, small and sunken. Overall dimensions are small. For beginners, it's the best. The leveling branch is not very stressful, but these are cruisers and you need to come to terms with the idea that sending a cruiser to the port for a volley is normal.

I started downloading the branch first Soviet cruisers, burned, bombed, but I really wanted Moscow. So much suffering on the way to her, but she's worth it. Also a very good semi-battleship cruiser, but not as easy to use as ZAO, so I recommend downloading ZAO first. Or in parallel.

Best Tier 10 Battleship

Yamato- Japanese battleship with excellent armor, main caliber, very nice battleship. But sometimes it suffers from poor maneuverability and poor air defense, but not every battle has aviks, but the main caliber is needed in every one.

You can also download the German branch in parallel, along the way we leave Gneisenau and Bismarck in the hangar for ranked battles. Or we buy their mremia clones so that there are no problems with the captains. But if money is a pity, like me, then we download caps.

Best Tier 10 Carrier

Midway- US aircraft carrier. Here I am not strong in aircraft carriers, but there is no choice there, 2 branches. Most recommend it.

Somehow, I apologize that there are many about some classes, about some few. So the footcloth turned out to be long.

In general, the game World of warships is good, but there are really unplayable ships and you have to spend either nerves or free experience to get through them.

Like Soviet destroyers, the new branch of cruisers is primarily about shooting. The artillery potential of these ships is very high. Using it correctly, you will get a solid advantage in battle, and not only over "classmates". With them, with proper skill, you will have a short conversation over a long distance. This is the first rule:

avoid skirmishes on the front line, use the range of guns.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about torpedoes. Due to the modest range, they look only like a weapon of last chance, and only "Svetlana" and "Dmitry Donskoy" can argue with that.

Gameplay

The gameplay of World of Warships will be quite familiar to all fans of Tanks. The player has a hangar with several slots for the ships he has purchased. Each ship has its own captain with a certain set of characteristics that affect the success of actions in battle. In the hangar, a ship is selected for the upcoming mission, new technical modules are installed, repairs are made, and a new task is selected.

For participation in hostilities, and in particular for defeating the enemy, experience points are awarded. In this case, there are two types of experience: points for a specific ship that completed the task, and general points for the entire account. The first type is necessary for upgrading a warship and installing new modules, and the second for upgrading any ship in the hangar. Incidentally, as in many online games, pumping is available for real money converted into virtual credits.

The skills of captains are also developed, and they themselves can be transplanted from one ship to another, but for this you will have to re-learn how to control a certain type of ship. With the maximum upgrade of equipment, the ship goes into the elite category, and all the experience points earned by it go to the general treasury or to accelerate the development of the captain's characteristics.

The game has several modes and a set of different missions that can be completed alone or by joining a group. As a rule, the main tasks of the battle group is to capture the target point (fortress or island) or destroy all enemy ships. And often, you need to do both. There are also some unusual missions, such as Supremacy, where you need to score as many points as you can by capturing and holding specific territories while maintaining the maximum number of allied ships.

Ship classes in World of Warships

The player can choose from the following 4 classes of ships:

1. Destroyers.

Light and small vessels, characterized by high speed and maneuverability. Due to their small size, many cannons cannot be mounted on them, so they do not have great fire potential, as well as armor. However, small size has its advantages - destroyers are a rather difficult target. In addition, they are equipped with underwater torpedoes capable of inflicting significant damage to enemy ships. And to cover themselves and their allies, destroyers use smoke screens.

2. Battleships.

Heavy armored warships equipped with numerous powerful weapons. And although they do not have great speed, the striking power of these ships can create a lot of trouble for the enemy. Strong armor and survivability allow them to long time stand fire.

3. Cruisers.

These ships occupy an intermediate position between destroyers and battleships. They are fast enough and at the same time have a good set of guns in their arsenal. They have more armor than destroyers, besides, like the latter, their list of weapons is supplemented by torpedoes.

4. Aircraft carriers.

Huge aircraft carriers do not have high firepower, their speed does not allow them to evade pursuit or overtake the enemy, and their armor cannot withstand direct attacks for long. Their main purpose is the transportation of air groups and their management. On the platform of the ship there are 3 types of aircraft: bombers, torpedo bombers and fighters. Bombers approach close to enemy ships and drop bombs on them - the damage is small, but it is very difficult to dodge these shells. Torpedo bombers do more damage with their missile salvos, but the chance of a miss when fired is quite high. Fighters, on the other hand, have a different task - to destroy enemy aircraft and cover their own air groups.

World of Warships development branches

At the beta test of World of Warships and by the time of the official release, the player will have access to only two branches of development. In the future, the developers plan to introduce more nationalities of warships, but for now, you can choose either American or Japanese ships.

Each branch has its own distinctive features, which in the process of moving through the game begin to be seen more and more clearly. Comparing the same classes of ships from different branches, one can notice tangible differences. For example, Japanese destroyers have the best torpedoes in terms of range and power, but US ships are noticeably stronger. American cruisers have significant armor protection, good artillery pieces and air defense, in the process of development they refuse torpedoes and high levels more like "light battleships". The Japanese, on the contrary, supply their cruisers to the detriment of armor and air defense the maximum number weapons and torpedoes. The US Navy owns the most powerful aircraft carrier, the Midway, carrying more than a hundred aircraft on board - Japanese ships of this class cannot oppose such equipment to it. However, the Imperial Navy has at its disposal the unique battleship Yamato with the largest maneuvering area, the highest armor-piercing power and survivability. According to the developers, the Yamato can only be opposed to another Yamato, the Americans do not have such a vessel.

Taking into account the peculiarities of the ships of different branches, the gameplay for each side will also differ. Playing for the Americans, you can choose a fairly simple battle tactic: take a comfortable position and, relying on good armor ships, shoot the enemy from powerful guns. The US Navy successfully defeats the enemy using brute firepower. The Japanese, on the other hand, cannot afford long skirmishes - their armor and weak air defense are not able to provide sufficient protection. The main principle of playing for Japan is an unexpected powerful attack and retreat. Their strength is in torpedoes and massive volleys from all guns in a short period of time.

Management and combat in World of Warships

IN game plan the vessel is controlled by both the keyboard and the mouse. On the one hand, nothing is difficult, but in reality the player may encounter some difficulties. The fact is that each particular ship has its own nuances in control: different sets of speeds, different steering wheel rotation, different weights and dimensions. In addition, the ship's inertia must always be taken into account. When moving through the water, you cannot slow down or turn around sharply. Therefore, the player will have to calculate in advance all his actions in order to avoid getting hit by enemy shells or simply not run aground.

Battles in each class of ships, respectively, also take place in different ways. The destroyer constantly changes course and tries to successfully launch torpedoes, after which it quickly retreats or hides behind rocks, simultaneously releasing smoke to cover its group. The cruiser seeks to get close to shoot the enemy and at the same time not get under heavy fire. The battleship takes a confident position and launches cannon volleys at the ships from a distance. An aircraft carrier has a more tense situation - it needs to constantly manage several air groups and at the same time take into account the changing arrangement of ships on the map in order to move to a safe position in time. Playing for aircraft carriers has the greatest tactical component, while other classes are more conducive to action.

Each ship has its own task, its place in the group. It is important to act in a coordinated and effective way as a team in order to win in naval battles.

Passage of the game and its features

In the process of completing missions, the necessary experience is gained to increase the level of the entire account. This non-standard software solution is a nice highlight of World of Warships. Raising the level opens up access to new types of battles and more difficult missions, additional ships become available. High-level accounts receive more rewards for completing tasks. As the user progresses through the game, the user unlocks more and more ships and missions, the technical sophistication of the fleet grows and its participation in group missions becomes more valuable.

The gameplay has a lot of pretty interesting features. Battles on the water do not proceed monotonously and predictably. An unexpectedly successful hit on an important part of the ship can decide the outcome of the battle in a few seconds.

A system of modular damage to ships has been implemented, which reduces not only their overall "health", but also individual pieces of equipment fail. An interesting point is the ability to repair the ship right during the task. The ship is equipped with a special repair system - its use is limited, but it can really save the day.

There are no complaints about the graphic component: the glare of the sun on the water, the waves, the wind, the fire on the ships - everything, as expected, is perfectly done. And, of course, the highest detailing of combat ships - business card Wargaming developers. All the smallest elements are visible, and when upgrading, the “filling” of the deck changes. High-quality graphics combined with excellent gameplay leaves a very pleasant impression of the game.

At the same time, our main task was to find a sufficiently versatile ship with a relatively small displacement, which could be correlated with Katori. Quite a non-trivial task, I want to tell you. The solution was found: the gunboat Erie. In terms of displacement, it is, of course, inferior to Katori, but it has guns of a larger caliber, and also carries some kind of armor. In addition, it has enough space on the upper deck to accommodate the location of torpedo tubes (in alternative history of course :))

However, Eri was not our most difficult decision. The most difficult and more than once rejected was the decision about which American ship would be able to give a worthy rebuff to the Japanese Yamato.


Let me remind you that the battleships Yamato and Musashi are the largest built battleships in history. What can be opposed to Yamato? The answer, it would seem, is obvious and suggests itself - of course, well, of course, Iowa!

This answer, despite the apparent obviousness, will still be incorrect. The American Iowas, although they had an impressive full speed of 33 knots, nevertheless, from a conceptual and constructive point of view, they are actually just elongated South Dakotas, with increased power plant and slightly improved guns. However, in people's memory and thanks to films like The Siege and Sea Battle, ships like Iowa are firmly in the first place and are considered to be the best battleships in history. We tried to move away from the emotional assessment of the ships, and take into account all the factors. What did we end up with? And here's what: the real rivals of the battleships of the Yamato type were supposed to be ships of the Montana type.

Montana, with all her sixty thousand tons of standard displacement, four hundred and nine millimeters of belt, and twelve sixteen-inch guns, would have been a formidable opponent of the Yamato. That is why, after evaluating the performance characteristics of the ships, we put Iowa on the ninth level, and Montana - on the tenth level, on a par with Yamato.
